Review Primi Seapoint - Sea Point

Paballo Mosikidi
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!!!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 Let's start with the decor and atmosphere. The restaurant is beautiful, with soft lighting undertones and good music in the background❤️ Comprised of two floors, the upper floor has pretty good view of the ocean with an outside seating area. When we went it was cold so we stayed indoors, which was great because it was really warm in there🙈❤️ The staff were very welcoming and there's a play area for those who have children🤗 because kiddies matter too🤗 Now down to the real business: the food🙌🏽 alright first off, I really appreciate that the cocktails have non alcoholic versions for those of us who do not drink❤️ it was nice to have options other than juice. The food is amazing🙌🏽 had the livers and the ribs and both dishes were absolutely perfect, flavourful, wholesome and the portions were just enough to not be overwhelming but satisfying ❤️ as a self proclaimed foodie, I was impressed l. My significant other had the burger and the brownie for dessert and it was quite probably one of the best brownies we've ever had🙌🏽 (which says something because man has a brownie at every restaurant). The burger was something too🙌🏽 Price wise, good food costs money🤷🏾‍♀️ you honestly get what you paid for but to be honest, I found the prices quite reasonable for what we were getting. It costs what it costs to go to an excellent restaurant❤️no

This cosy place is situated on sea point main road overlooking the ocean but obscurred a bit buy competing buildings. The establishment serves dishes mostly that of pasta, salad, pizza and other Italian style options. The staff are polite and one has an option to sit at lower level, upstairs or balcony overlooking the vibrant sea point. No reservation is needed but can get busy when events happen within and around green point and seapoint. Overall nice experience and delicious food.

As always, an enjoyable meal. The service was good and food arrived quickly. The tables and decor could do with an update but as long standing Primi fans, the food is the main reason we go there.

Very quiet during the working day. Decent space for kids to play. Pizzas are decent. Salads too.

Awesome week days specials! Half price cocktails for R35! Love!

Had a perfectly grilled rump steak. They also have a happy hour special from 2pm-6pm on selected alcoholic drinks (ranging from beers, wines to cocktails).

Such a nice place! Really good food, good prices and friendly staff! I really love the bread they serve (try it with garlic and olive oil!) - so delicious!! 🥰
Wardiya Esack
Yummy! I usually have pizza but decided on a grilled chicken salad this time around. It was filling and delicious. This is my new favourite.

Lovely service, good food, friendly staff...the lady playing with the kids in the play area - super friendly and calm. Loved everything about this Primi. EXCELLENT!!!
Nombeko Ketelo
Awesomeness the food; desserts and music off the hook. I went back and loved it but it mostly thanks to the manager. Sweet man who listened to our dissatisfaction and made our day. Thank you Sir

Delicious pizza's. Best creme brulee I ever had. Nice vibe. I have a view of the ocean

Great for families. The kids can enjoy themselves in the play room. Food was great (halal) and good service.

Best value pizza in Cape Town! Feta and Olive pizza is manufique 🤤Kiddies assisted play area a total bonus too.

Paid 65 rand for the smallest cheesecake I've ever seen. It was also falsely advertised as a baked cheesecake when it clearly wasn't. It would have been nice to have been made aware of the size before I ordered it
Carol Goslar
Ordered a gluten free pizza. It was very disappointing - base was tough and dry and very little covering on it. There are delicious gluten free pizzas out there so the problem is not the base. Definitely not worth repeating which is a pity as it was a favourite family restaurant.

My first time here and certainly won't be back pizza is terrible and tasteless. I had to check what I ordered because the topping was less than Romans special of 2 pizzas with 1 topping each for R99. Definitely a place to miss If you're in Sea Point

Woke up and got an early breakfast here this morning. Wasn't too busy so service was quick. I had their eggs Benedict, it was super yummy with a creamy hollandaise sauce and the portion size was big enough. Their breakfast options are not badly priced and they offer just enough options.

This Primi has been around for many years and is somewhat empty but they’ve certainly upped there game when it comes to service and food quality - so hope to see more support for them!
I recommend a vegetarian or Californian pizza as well as my favorite, the chicken capagnola - chicken breasts with linguine in creamy white wine sauce PLUS roast vegetables! Simply delish !

Had quick bite to eat today. The service is very friendly. They burger was dry could have been cooked for shorter time. A juicer sauce would have top it off. Ribs were good have had better

I recommend that you sit up stairs on a sunny day. The view is absolutely beautiful. My waiter was very friendly and actually he recommended that I sit upstairs. I had the Urban Run breakfast with perfectly fried bacon.

I paired it with Apple Berry ice tea which was a bit on the weak side. Would definitely come here after a hike on Lion's Head for some breakfast.

Poor service. We waited 15 minutes for the menu. Ended up calling a waiter for a menu. No service for another 10 minutes. Very disappointing.
Nicole Andrews
Food was absolutely delicious and fresh. Service was friendly and fast as well. Food: Pan seared calamari and Dagwood burger. Wine: La Dolce Vita semi sweet.

You might think that a large franchise like Primi Piatti would be...well...ordinary. And maybe it once was, but Primi Piatti Sea Point is an extraordinary place. Truly. We (my wife and 19 month old) have been going to Primi quite a lot lately because it has a great and large space for children to run around - and for anyone with a toddler can attest to that being much more important than food, atmosphere or pretty much anything else.

Well...first of all, the staff there are incredible. I don't know where they find these amazing, friendly, smiling, helpful, charming and energetic waitrons. But they deserve every tip that comes their way. Every time we visit, we have a wonderful, magical encounter and our young boy loves going there.

Then, one Sunday morning, looking for a place to have breakfast, and it was raining, so almost reluctantly we set off for Primi. 'Breakfast at Primi!'. Well, we were surprised again! Not only was the breakfast menu large and diverse, but both our meals were exceptional. Taste. Value. Wow - what a combination.

I cannot speak for any other demographic, but if you have a young child - get to Primi fast. You won't be disappointed.
Chandre
Really good place but you guys need to provide a drinks menu on zomato too as customers would like to plan budget wise effectively, please look into this as it would just make things much easier.

the restaurant wasn't the cleanest. The food was horrible , we enquired with the manager that was no help at all. Also make an awful cup of hot chocolate. The waiter was also no help, I can't see myself going there ever again!
*awful service
*awful food
*bad manager

What a disappointing outing. Play area was the only plus point. 2 of 5 main courses delivered and we waited whilst the waitress took order for another table, meanwhile the other 3 dishes sat at the kitchen waiting to come out. It took me to walk down stairs to actually get the food. Bad service but all well we had 5 meals...............one of the orders was wrong but the best part was finding a wire in my pasta courtesy of the pot scrubber!! That meal was taken off the bill but no apology or recognition of how bad it was. As a local who eats out all year I can safely say I will never attend this restaurant again. Very poor

Super nice people, food was tasty and fresh but the best thing about Primi Sea Point is the fact that they are super great with kids! They made a mini bed for my little niece to nap on, had nice options for her on the menu and they have a play area. Something you don't find everywhere in Cape Town.
Justice Levi
happy with service, coffee, tasty desert, wide variety of drinks and useful balcony for those warm evenings. Looking forward to trying more on the menu, definitely recommended, will be back.

Needing a refreshing drink, I popped in to Primi and had a Lone Survivor cocktail. Cheekily served with a wedge of pineapple, it contained rum, Malibu, orange juice, crushed pineapple and coconut milk. Absolutely delicious and just what I wanted. Ok so I also had a bowl of fries....
The restaurant is enormous. Sit upstairs, downstairs or on the upper balcony. The staff are friendly; the ambience is vibey and the restaurant is spotlessly clean. Next time I'm going to chill on the leather couches and people watch.
Ordered Recco Con Pollo takeaway and the waiter had a cheeky attitude when I asked if he could half them and put it in separate boxes (literally just a matter of putting half in each box).

And yet he was adamant on ignoring me and wasn't to be seen when my food came. Also, does takeaway not come with any cutlery? Luckily I checked before I left and requested some from a lovely staff member.

Food was nonetheless consistent and filling and drinks were great. Service on the other hand...

Great food, lovely view to sea point! Great and accommodating staff who always recommend the best drinks. Service was amazing & the view from the top will forever remain with me✨😊😊

Perfect place to go with children. They can make their own pizza and there's a huge play area with childminders. Perfect place for us to have a good time. The menu is very divers but I often end up eating pasta. The staff is fun and friendly.
Beni Kabuluku
Lovely place, lovely setup. I've been here before but this time I got to appreciate it a little more because it was during the day. great cocktails, pina colada is an absolute must. Great view from the balcony, and the pesto on the burgers is where the money is at. 👌🏽
Adrian Kaplan
What i love about this Primi is the upstairs play area. Its huge and the kids can run wild. Service is attentive too. We had the Pasta Campagnola and the chicken broccoli pasta -both were delicious but slightly on the oily side. Good kiddies menu too. Lovely spot for families.

Was deeply upset with this place. Service was a little slow. The coffee was okay and cocktails was good BUT as I walked into the restaurant and proceeded up the stairs there was a waitress solidly and publicly PICKING HER NOSE! Like literally a step infront of me while she was facing and looking at me whilst the manager behind me looked and said nothing. This was disgusting in my point of view from working in the events and food industry for almost 3 years. Unacceptable. If they allow this then what else will they allow...

a really good place to have lunch especially after a hike, my girlfriend really enjoyed her hot wings due to her getting sauce on her back, still don't know how that was possible. the service was a bit slow which was bad as the venue was almost near empty. you can never go wrong with the burger or pizza.
Rochelle McCauley
Restaurant was empty bar a couple of tables and our large get together. The service was shocking - our round of drinks took about 20 minutes and came virtually one at a time. The play area is dirty and the rest of the place also looks like it needs a good clean. The experience can only be described as hell on earth.
Collin Allin
There were 6 tables in restaurant and the service was shocking, plates stayed on table for 20min after finishing when we called waiter over, dropped bill and never came back with card machine.. Pity because the salad I had was amazing.. Great venue.. Hopefully just a bad night, worth a visit if u in area I would think
Kimson Chan
I was going there for a quick bite. The service was awesome and the atmosphere was okay. I ordered the Salmone linguine and it was not bad. It wasn't too spicy and the creaminess was just right. Overall it was too bad

As far as Primi's go this isn't one of the better ones. It's not terrible but we would probably not pull in there for anything except a quick lunch if we were hungry and had to eat; not the kinda place I would say is nice to spend a couple of hours in.
The food is standard for a Primi, no better no worse.
The service was untrained and we constantly had to ask for basic obvious things. I consider it the managers responsibility to train up staff.
Andrea Lauren Kraak
Ah i love this primi ! I love sitting upstairs in the sun and just watching everyone down below. Do miss new york bagels plenty but one can never go wrong with primi

Super pleasant afternoon. I've been coming here since they've opened and i've never had a bad overall experience and for me that's very important.

Primi has an extremely diverse menu and they cook everything well therefore catering for anyone. This branch is in a very big premises and is perfect for a lunch with friends or family, dinner too.

The major downside would definitely be the fact that parking is scarce, but otherwise I have no qualms here.
Jess
Will never be coming back again. After having three different waiters taking our drinks order and still not receiving it we were then told there was no lettuce-no starters or salads for us. So we ordered another option but no avo so we tried to order a pizza (I'm pretty sure pizza is their main meal) and the pizza balls were frozen and could not be cooked. What restaurant ,or more so, what popular franchise operates like this?
Michaelkidd24
Always good food and they have free wifi which is a bonus, the atmosphere is nice and have been there a few times but have never had a complaint about the food. Except that breakfast special seemed to get smaller and smaller

It never ceases to amaze me how useless some companies are at Social Media..especially in South Africa.

Here's an idea..if you're a resto on Twitter, RT within 15mins (MAX-I do it in 3mins!), greet your Guests online when they talk about you, acknowledge their pics and videos. Do NOT, for example, say "Tweets answered 9am-5pm weekdays" etc etc..it just makes you look foolish and, sadly, unprofessional.

Despite ZERO, and, folks, I do mean, ZERO online interaction even though I overheard Mngr Thami calling their SocMed person asking about retweets(!), I cannot but recommend this space enough.

GM Thami remembered me BY NAME..not too remarkable in and of itself, but this was from 2012! No..really.

AND he remembered my fave order (which I had TOTES forgotten)..and that I like Soup Bowl Cappuccinos. #speechless 😨🌴😁

The space is very funkily set up...like all Primis, I guess...with a vay cool outside balcony smoking section (best place to sit!). The service was perfectly friendly, fast, efficient, attentive and non-obsequious.
Thami himself came over repeatedly to check if I'm OK...and this was a Friday night, remember.

The food was simply perfection. That Chicken Liver pasta with the cream and the peppers and the sherry and the Napolitana sauce...whoaaaa!!! 😁🌴👍🌍💜

Sadly, WiFi was DEF not the "fibre optic" super fabulous version as promised on @primiworld Twitter timeline, but this was a minor inconvenience on this particular night.

Special mention must be made about the coffee..I don't know WHAT blend or roast they use (and frankly, I really don't care...coffee snobs annoy me intensely); suffice to say it was thoroughly, lip-smackingly, undeniably exquisite. No, really. No...I mean, really, REALLY good! 😝👍🐙🌎

And R75 for a pasta I couldn't even finish, with the most inventive and delicate flavours, in the heart of pretentious Sea Point Restaurant Row, is great value.

All in all, I HAVE to say Primi Sea Point is a DEF @jamescapetown FAVE! 👍🌎🐙💜🌍🌴😁

I ordered online at 14:13 on the 07/12/2015. I ordered 2 Bolognaise meals, 1 lite and 1 full. 50 minutes later I receive meals.1 chicken and one tomato dish. Needless to say I was not happy. The food was collected again by the delivery guy and on his return, Primi has only given 1 Bolognaise meal. This was collected again and finally at 17:30 the right order was supplied by Primi Piatti Sea Point. When calling Primi, a male answers the call, doesnt say anything, but calls out to someone in the background called Fatimah. A completely terribly and utterly disastrous experience
Sarita Kerber
Well at Primi I was have mixed feelings because sometimes I will have a great meal and then the next not so much. Firstly my friend ordered a martini and they did not know how to make it. I had the bolognaise and it was too salty. Then anther friends ordered the beef burger and she said it lacked flavour.
Rowan Reid
Restaurant was 25% full yet I had to wait quite a while to get served, coffee was cold, waitress got my order wrong and the wifi started timing out after after 10 minutes. I should have gone somewhere else
Cassie
Definitely one of my favorite restaurants,my favorites to order would be the beef carpaccio, California pizza , or the steak fillet . Food always good but service always so pathetic lately.
Tabassum Smiley Aleem
Primi never disappoints. I have this thing I do whenever i have spare cash I put it on My primi loyalty card so the next time I decide to visit its like my card treating me. Twisted i know...Anyway im a big fan of the Primi pastas and since i dont drink, Mocktails steal my heart. The Recco pasta is one of my favourites. Also the Play area is so great for the kiddies. Id suggest you sit upstairs. The natural light coming in is too cool for pictures. Went for the penne chicken and broccoli pasta which i found bland but thank goodness for the side of chillies and parmesan to spice things up. The coffee was really good. Really like the bread. The spice on the calamari was very flavourful.

Worst Primi experience ever! And this is my favourite chain of restaurants. They couldn't make strawberry daquiries or sex on the beach. They ran out of ice cream. Had to buy a coke somewhere, and still brought the wrong rum! Didn't bring us bread! Woah dudes, what is happening! Don't think I'll be coming back to Primi Sea Point
Ruan Vlok
As any Primi a pleasure to go there. The waiters and management look after the customers really well. A wide menu with great quality food. Had a amazing California pizza and my friend had the Bolognese that convinced me to try it the next time I go.
Mademoiselle Nomad
Great place to have a casual breakkie (R24 for 2 eggs, strips of bacon rashers, tomato and toast) while the kids are playing in the jumping castle. Great place so that kids can be entertained while you parents get to talk uninterrupted. Service is good although they seem to have more guests than staff. So sometimes you need to follow up on your order. Cool to be indoors on a rainy day. They have heaters indoors.
Margot Johnson
Very average.

I have had their pastas three times as a quick take away (very average) and expensive for what you get but warm and tasty (if you are not vegetarian... Their vegetarian range is seriously lacking!) the vibe is ok (always feels a little dark and dirty). It's fine for a quick lunch or early dinner (very casual). This place has huge potential but needs a revamp and a lot more vibe!
Samukeliso Eneya
Very chilled place ,its so chilled that I can not really determine if the service is good or bad .In the many times I have been there the food and drinks did not take long at all.
Cara
Fan of the jam jar?... Then PLEASE try the Red Bull jam jar! Sooooo good! Always ordered the strawberry one before and that was good too. Now our waiter recommends we try the litchi flavor.. Next time!! I don't know his name but we always get the same waiter he's really awesome! Many thanks to you dude!
Tommy Wang
The best pasta in Cape Town. Always trying different Italian restaurant to eat all kinds of pasta and I find primi Chicken Liver pasta!!! My favorite!!!! Best pasta ever. Guys who love chicken livers must go and try. XD
Tom Kennedy
Ordered a pasta, delivered the wrong order. Then the driver apparently drove to the wrong house. 6 calls and almost 1:45 waiting for food. Never ordering again, really not worth the pain.
Ray Mohamed
Always deliver great service and speedy delivery. More of a takeout place for me as the actual restaurant can be quite loud on a busy night, but can't fault the quality and presentation of the food. Definitely my favorite branch in Cape Town.
Hillary Thompson
Reliable. Is it the best food in the world? No. Will you eat and be full? Yes. Delivery is very prompt. Pargi Pizza is amazing! Have had a wide variety of dishes from this restaurant that have all been acceptable. Nice patio to sit outside and enjoy the cool summer breeze. =)
D
I can safely rely on Primi to deliver especially in their pastas. Complemented with their wide cocktail range.

Spent Saturday night sipping on cocktails at Primi. Our waitor Sam was so helpful and entertaining.

Will definitely be going back soon :-)
