Review The Coffee Exchange - Sandton

Robert Laithwaite
This was a really good experience!! I'd definitely recommend it. The aesthetic is modern and cosy and it's a nice atmosphere. The coffee is some of the best I've ever had and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is also a good selection of food to eat.

Now, this is definitely a Coffee we won't Exchange, no sirree. In a little old street in Parkmore you enter a cozy coffee café, with wooden decor and warm lights inviting you to venture in deeper. It was quite odd that they were completely empty on a Sunday morning at 11 am, which made us wonder if they would be worth it. It took a few seconds, but before we knew it, the place was packed and the waiter/barista/teller had his hands full running around getting to everyone. This is the promised land of coffee. Oh... My... Goodness... This has got to be the best coffee, we have ever had. Pure indulgence, smooth and perfectly extracted. Just a cup of love, a cup of life. This is what real and proper coffee is all about. We decided we wanted to grab brunch. So we grabbed an Old English Breakfast, 2 fried eggs, 3 rashers of bacon, beef sausage, grilled tomato, mushroom, and hashbrown. The hashbrown was a letdown, it kind of tasted as if it was a bit underdone, but everything else is what makes a great breakfast, especially those mushrooms, oh my golly. With that, we also went for The Banting, 2 poached eggs, grilled halloumi, sliced avocado and basil cherry tomatoes. This was sooo yummy, every ingredient was fresh and vibrant with poached eggs prepared the way they are meant to be. Even though there seemed to be only one waiter/barista/teller, everything ran smoothly. Not only did he go to each table to get their order, go back to make coffee and bring drinks and food, he did it all in a timely manner. Oh yeah, he also went to everyone when they needed to pay, as well as help people that just walked in that wanted to get a coffee to go. This guy was playing all the positions in one match. For two people that got delicious breakfast with 2 cups of coffee, each, for about R200, this place is definitely worth every penny. TTT recommends you come here on a relaxed Sunday morning, and just grab a cup of coffee and enjoy it. TTT’s rating out of 5: Food - 4 | Coffee - 5 | Service - 5 | Atmosphere – 3 | Value – 5 The Coffee Exchange gets a 'Fist Bump' from Two Tasty Tummies

BEST coffee in Joburg. Small little cafe with staff ready to help. They have a few eating options and they are all very tasty but the that makes this place absolutely AMAZING is the coffee. Can never get enough of their coffee. They really know how to make a proper coffee.

I love the coffee here, but I the tramezzini is the best one I've eaten. I suggest the spinach and feta. The tramezzini bread is light and slightly crispy. Triple fried chips are great. What it lacks in views, it makes up for in friendly service

Great friendly service. Thabang and MJ makes a mean cup of Java. They deliver every time with a smile 👍 Highly recommend this spot 😊

Great coffee, atmosphere and staff.

The bar staff here are excellent. Really nice friendly guys. Tip them well! We go out of our way to get our coffee here, it's much better than anything else nearby.

Great friendly staff with really good coffee, roaster in store and proper barista making the coffee. They know what they do and use decent beans, something most shops seem to be shying away from these days to make more profit, Coffee Exchange is open most mornings 0630 and just in time for the early to office workers or early meetings. The beans the sell and option to roast to your needs is a nice touch..

Bored in Sandton traffic? This place will save you! It has a small but tasty menu and the coffee is divine... The atmosphere is laid back and the staff is friendly. Really well-situated and a convenient coffee stop in the early mornings before work!

Delicious coffee, and a warm and cosy environment, considering the busy location. Bass on the sound system needs to be lowered a bit, but otherwise a great spot

Great coffee especially the Espresso & Americano in a comfortable set up while enjoying the free WiFi and sport on the TV screen. Friendly staff. The area of Parkmore waited long for an authentic coffee shop like this one.

Coffee exchange's Espresso formula: Our proper execution a matter of training, the love of coffee, experience and natural talent. A jet of hot water at 88°-93°C passes under a pressure of nine or more atmosphere through a seven gram cake-like layer of our in house roasted and ground coffee beans from all over the world. Done right as we always do, the results is a concert of not more than 30 mls of pure sensorial pleasure.

I was at this establishment for a food brand activation popup, we bought the burgers and ribs which my partner and I enjoyed (this is a promotional menu item I assume).
The service though was awful, it took forever to get served and forever to pay as there was a problem with the machine. The waiters brought us the wrong drinks twice, maybe it was a busy day?

A nice local coffee spot, food looks yum and coffee is decent but in my mind, a tad overpriced for what you get.

love the gin bar concept, but wasn't well marketed, had to ask about it. will be back to happy hour

Awesome cappuccino. One of the best in JHB. Had a hash brown breakfast which was unique and tasty. Will definitely be back to try the Gin and Tonic menu!

Nice spot to have a quick bite. I'm not a coffee fan, but I was very happy with my toasted bacon & egg sandwich. Not a huge selection of soft drinks but looks like they make a mean coffee. Next time I'll definitely try a milkshake or G&T 🍹
Izak Nel
Service very slow.
Didnt have 3 of the beers on the menu. When we got a beer that was available, they had only one. Please be prepares better.

Best coffee in Parkmore if not Sandton. If I were rating only the coffee it would be a 4.5. Food menu inconsistent. Ambiance and accoustics not great.
Gavin Radloff
Decided to order in and was disappointed by the value for money. Order the beef burger and pulled pork burger, the portions are small. While the pork tastes good, it definitely does not make up for the money paid.

More bread than filling, a handful of chips, no added condiments. I'm certain I get more value from a Wimpy burger

IA really solid coffice option. The coffee is excellent - the kind of brew that's rich and fills every corner of your mouth. one cup will never be enough! We snacked on huge, chewy and super satisfying choc chip cookies - so thumbs up for the snacks if you don't feel like a big meal - before deciding on the hoisin beef wrap, served with scrumptious cauli-mash. Highly recommended.

Great coffee, milkshakes and food, served with care and attention to detail. Supporting local restaurants in our neighborhood. Love Parkmore!!
Nikeal Mohanlall
Excellent cappuccinos. Good service. There were a number of flies circling the place for relatively little food around and baristas were somewhat conflicted over music choices, but it had a nice vibe. I'd be back.
Trishern
Tried the flat white and cappuccino. Excellent microfoam. Milk steamed all the way through. A very good tasting coffee blend. One of the best cups of coffee in Sandton.

Great coffees served by friendly and attentive staff. This venue offers a different menu from the run of the mill. The food is outstanding and the quantities are generous. The menu is also well priced and I am sure the Coffee Exchange will quickly become a favourite. Great wifi adds to a very pleasant dining experience

Excellent in every way. Coffee and food are outstanding. Very good value for money. The Spanish Omelette is something special. Will definitely be back.

Above average coffee shop in the parkmore strip.
Roast has a little variation over multiple coffees on different weeks.
Extraction is good
All in all a good team making great coffee
Really worth a stop.
Will be interesting to see how busy they get when their liquor license gets issued.
