Review Biryani Hut - Sandton

Denise Herbst
Excellent meal in a small, no frills restaurant! Reasonably priced with good service.

Vikram and his chefs were wonderful hosts and the food was very good. We had the paneer butter masala, the dhal tadaka and the aloo dish with garlic Naan. Everything was well spiced (we got the medium and it was the perfect heat). My favorite part of the dinner was the homemade masala tea which had a great balance of spice and giner and exactly what you need on a cold evening :) Thank you Vikram and team!

Food is yummy but what will make me come here over and over again is the service. Vikram, who attended us was so warm and the way he went extra mile to arrange food and drinks for my baby was enough to make it my first choice henceforth. I regret not visiting this place earlier

Best experience for Indian cuisine, it was a real feast. We appreciated Vikram's hospitality.... the food was devine and the service was even better. We intend to go back!!!!

Lovely food great taste best service

Vikram went out of his way to make us feel welcome at the restaurant. The restaurant is under new management. All of the food is freshly prepared on demand. Also a great idea to order some extra for the freezer. It works out so much more economical than buying ready meals from the traditional retailers. Thanks again Vikram, we will definitely be back!

Small, simple place with amazing food & great service from Vikram!! Thank you!! The tandoor mixed platter is an excellent starter to have. Butter chicken some of the best I’ve had to date & the prawn vindaloo had lots of prawns. I’ll definitely be back!!

It's a good one!! Ate for the first time and definitely better than other Indian restaurants in the vicinity. Will visit again for sure!

Tucked away in a corner of the shopping centre it is best accessed from the roof parking. They have ample seating and also an outside section overlooking the rooftop parking. The starters are amazing and the Chicken65 is a winner. Overall they are well priced and service is prompt and friendly. The mall is in the process of being renovated so finding a bathroom is a challenge at best.

My wife and myself are regulars at Pappadums since day 1 of opening. Vikram is a joy with a permenant smile and a willingness unsurpassed. Needless to say the food is top quality as we are Vegetarian . The ambiance is magic. Well done Vikram good job. No doubt as per Arnold. "We will be back" Otto & Marlene

What awesome service. Great food where each dish is a different palate experience. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a real Indian treat ♥

I always walk past this restaurant, it's awkwardly positioned for a cozy sit down, and I'm not sure if ill ever go in, but wow! I just had this gobsmacking butter chicken Ubered to me: the chicken is smokey, flame-grilled, and the sauce packed with flavour, the rice, perfectly cooked and fragrant- all still piping hot. Only to connect later that this great meal comes from that place- never judge a book as they say, great food, great value... six stars!

In the mood for Indian food we tried this place, chicken tandoori was good, garlic naan needed more garlic.

ordered a lamb bunny chow quartes via uber eat but incorrect food was delivered. :( had a talk with uber eats and they already gave me credits. sadder thing is that after I have received credits, biryani hut is already closed and I can’t order anymore.

The biryani is plain basmati rice with pieces of meat. It's not what a biryani should be. It doesn't taste bad, just not what we ordered....
Bame Modungwa
Best butter chicken ever, affordable and delicious food. Ordered via Uber Eats, had the butter chicken which came with a small portion of rice, added garlic naan which was also tasty.
Shanil Haripersad
Had the lamb and chicken biryani. Quality of meat could be better. Meat and potatoes were not that soft. Hot was super hot and not that enjoyable. Also got the mixed grill which was very dry.

I would give this a 3.8. We had the butter chicken and prawn korma with butter naan. The butter chicken was good and the portion was generous. The prawn korma was ok, the korma isn’t the best I’ve had and the prawns weren’t great tasting.

We were craving for biryani, ordered two chicken biryanis and loved it. We are in SA on vacation from Dubai and by far we haven’t had a biryani that awesome (view of the family includes mg kids) Being from Pakistan originally I was skeptical if an Indian biryani would meet our taste buds as we do it slightly differently but this biryani was exceptional. They indeed have a great biryani chef. Chicken biryani is the only dish I tried. The portion of chicken was very decent and the good thing was that it was boneless.

Very good meals from here so far (ordered 3 times), good flavours and variety. Hot is amply hot. Ingredients fresh. Reasonable portions. Will order again!

Biryani Hut is at the other end of the road opposite Esprit Estate on Bowling Avenue. This place offers takeaways mostly but has 4 tables to eat outside as well as 2 tables inside. The Paneer Tikka Masala we ordered has a home like feeling with whole Dhaniya seeds over the gravy. The paneer was too soft and I totally loved the same. Veg Biryani is also nice but didn't meet the expectations. Naan breads was soft and crispy and I totally loved the food. The price of the food is almost similar to the sit and dine restaurants but I heard the chicken biryani is the best at this outlet along with Veg Garlic manuchurian. Will check out soon other stuff on my next trip. Thanks

Ordered the lamb lunch breyani... which was around R60. Very generous portion and delicious. Also ordered the gulab jamun for something sweet after ... highly recommended for any one with a sweet tooth !!

Disgusting food, delivered cold, raw chips.

Look at the picture of food delivered.

This is there idea of tandoori chicken, disappointed is a understatement.

One of my colleagues suggested me this little treasure for some authentic Chicken Biryani and I headed over with a friend. The restaurant is very conveniently located at Wendy wood Shopping Centre and is quite easy to spot. The place is actually small with a seating of around 4-5 families and the crowd prefers take away and like others I preferred a take away.

The Chicken Biryani was heavenly with generous amount of boneless chicken pieces and raita. The Chicken Tikka is delectable with yummy green chutney and chips. The chicken portions are generous sized and the packing is decent.

I'm a regular customer here and the Manager is very friendly and doesn't disappoint his customers when it comes to the authenticity of the food.

Great little spot I discovered last week while craving breyani. The portion was large and delicious. My food got done very quickly while I waited. The place itself isn't the best looking on the inside, looks a bit run down but nevertheless, food was good. And well priced as lamb dishes are more expensive at other similar spots. Great for takeaways.

I ordered from here off Uber Eats and the service was extremely quick, the food arrived hot and the Brinjal Bharta was the most delicious curry I have ever eaten. So well priced, impeccably made and so convenient if ordering from Uber Eats.

I can't believe i stumbled on such a lucky find...Briyani Hut...and the reviews on zomato made me wanna try it. Went for the lamb briyani...it was a very generous portion with lots of lamb in it. Very good...I will definitely go back soon.

Stopped by this place quite a few times and loving it so far. The lunch specials are quite a good deal, but this time stopped by for dinner. Ordered Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, Butter Naan Bread and Onion Kulcha.

So, yesterday we were in the mood for biryani and being in Kelvin, this place was our best bet! We ordered Lamb Biryani, Chicken Biryani, Chilli Chicken and Veg Fried Rice. I must say it was one of the tastiest Veg Fried Rice dishes I have ever had. The Chilli Chicken was delicious but not very spicy. The let down for me, though, was the Biryani as it had an overwhelming taste of cardamom and other whole spices. All in all, I would recommend the place for its Indo-chinese but not so much for the Biryani.

Had multiple dishes at this little shop in Wendywood and I have not been disappointed yet. The Bunby chow is fantastic and the breyani is simply outstanding

This little restuarant situation in the Wendywood shopping centre is definitely a hidden gem and by far my best go to restuarant for Indian cuisine. I prefer getting take outs from here than going to a luxurious Indian restaurant as their food is on par. The meat dishes and vegetarian dishes are both great and spiced to perfection given your preference. Their portions are sufficient and you're getting great value given their prices. Definitely worth giving it a try if you're a lover of Indian cuisine!
Shrian Ramsamuj
Ate they lamb breyani which was flavoured beautifully. Meat was soft, and no bones or fat. My only complaint is that it could use a bit more meat. Prices are fantastic for what you're getting. Planning on going back soon!

A hidden gem.... is all I can say!!! Absolutely devine indian cuisine. A must try is the butter chicken and chicken biryani. We have been back to this place every time we visit Johannesburg.

Have eaten at the Biryani Hut twice. It is a real gem tucked away in a very unassuming centre. Tried the palak kofta and was amazed by the flavour packed into this dish. Definitely my new no.2 north indian dish. Previously had the mutton bunny and chana pindi both of which did not disappoint. For a well priced tasty north indian meal give this place a try.
Small eat out place for Biryani! Taste different from That of Indian Biryani(Dum)-typical Malabar copy but served in curry style! Do ask for his handmade Lassi/buttermilk- goes well with biryani. Visit this place only if you dont have an option or fine with non-dum biryani

This has got to be my favourite take-away/restaurant in Joburg. Today we had the aloo paratha, paneer makhnie, lamb curry, bombay chicken and lamb biryani. Don't be put off by the way the place looks. It's a hidden gem and no other place can beat Biryani Hut when it comes to flavoursome food.
Milan
This hidden gem has amazing food that is full of flavour! I have been to this restaurant many times and the food is always amazing. Best indian cuisine I have eaten in jhb.

On first inspection I was a little nervous to try this place. My fiancé was aliment on having curry so we gave it a try. I am very glad we did. The curry dad so much flavour. Good food at a very good price.
Maxine Gunzenhauser
Their curries are very good and well priced, but I find they struggle to operate at half-capacity. If you order in advance and take your time collecting (on a weekend) - you'll have a wonderful experience. The flavours are bold and fresh, and about R30-R40 cheaper per medium-sized order than their nearby competitors.
Dhruv Jetli
The best authentic Indian food you'll find in all of Johannesburg. I've tried the Biryani as well as the curries and everything is par excellence. A must visit if you're missing India and craving for some finger licking Indian food!

I absolutely love the food from this little indian restaurant. For me, this is one of those hidden gems! If you are looking for authentic North Indian or Indo Chinese cuisine then Biryani Hut is your best bet. They offer tasty food that is value for money. The restaurant is quite small and is mostly ideal for takeaways as there aren't very many tables. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area.
Leigh Dermick
Ordered some takeout and the 2 different Briyani dishes were really good and reasonably priced. This place is more of a takeout spot than eating in, however there are a few tables inside if you wish to eat there.
Nitish Bhaskar
Authentic North Indian food, as delicious as home made, finger licking tasty food. Perfect place to land for North Indian food. I have been there for six times in past two weeks.

Biryani is awsome, same goes with Samosas.

Most of the gravies were perfectly fine with proper balance of spices.
All tandoor dishes are good. I hardly found any thing which I did not like. Every time post my meal here I gets a feeling of being in India.

Its a small place and can accomodate 20 people, but still having food here will be a better experience.

Staffs and services are equally appreciable.
Vaibhav Suri
Indians are very picky about their food and most of us struggle when outside India to satisfy our food bugs.. But, not when chef Virender is in town (if I spelt that correctly)... U have to have to have to try this if you want to taste actual Indian food.. Biryani hut serves authentic Indian cuisine and I promise you won't get any closer to the real taste anywhere else.. I tried Biryani hut special chicken and lamb Biryani.. And I could finish it all by myself.. Kudos to the chef ..excellent job.. U re going to go a long way..

Third time coming to Biryani hut in the space of 10 days, and as you probably would have guessed by now the food is fantastic, and hence I had to request zomato to add this restaurant to the app.

The first time I ordered the lamb biryani, which has generous amounts of soft lamb, this is enough for 2 people. 2nd time round we had the chicken and Lamb bunny chows. Let's just say they the best I've had to date, beating other places I've eaten at by a long shot.

I'm back again tonight for the tandoori chicken and butter chicken. The Tandoori was absolutely amazing, the meat is soft and succulent. The butter chicken is one of the best I've ever had, with the right level of sweet and spice.

The restaurant is very small, with space only for 20 people. It makes it ideal for takeaways if you live close by. Dont judge the food based on the looks of the complex it's in. You won't be sorry if you do try this place.
