Review Mugg & Bean - Sandton

And so we bid farewell to yet another home restaurant. Not sure why they have decided to close end of the month (June) but alas it has been a wonderful time well spent, all cups and meals enjoyed, birthdays, family outings, catching up with friends... Anyway, here's to another ruined thing. Lonehill Shopping Centre will never be the same without Mugg n Bean.

Service was a bit slow at first, but the toasted samie on whole wheat and the salad were delicious. The waitress was lovely. Covid compliant. Thank you.

After a recent visit, I still maintain that I always get great food and good service

Menu is varies and better than before. Good drinks options. For breakfast, try the Country-style breakfast.

Good. Lovemore is very gentle. Beautiful terrace. Always nice cappucino

Always have excellent service, our usual waiter Brian is always spot on and attentive. The food is always fantastic and the vibe is awesome. They always make a point of accommodating my dog by bringing her a bowl and a treat on occasion. The manager on duty, Bright is also always helpful and cheerful. This is the only Mugg And Bean I will ever go to as I've had many bad experiences at the Kyalami Corner branch.

Daily Coffee Cafe (no longer Mugg and Bean) is excellent. Great food and service. I can highly recommend it.

I can honestly say that I have been to this Mugg & Bean more than I have been to any other store. The food is great the employees are friendly and the atmosphere is perfect. On many occasions a friend and I have had coffee and breakfast for a total of less than R200. I have never had to wait for a table as there are so many and I have never had a reason to complain about my food taking to long. Mugg & Bean is a really, really great restaurant.

Great Service from Sakile Great food as always. Outdoor Seating under the treeths or Indoor if its raining. Those that are health conscious, like myself, they list the total KJ next to each item on the menu. Very innovative and all resturants should do it. Recommended. Thanks guys.

Love the staff. Kitchen could use some work on a boring menu. Chuffed to see Lovemore revelling in his role as manager. He's doing a grand job and so good with his clients.

The only restaurant in South Africa that can get my breakfast right 100% of the time, all the time. I now travel just to come to this branch. Compliments to the owner and managers. This is a extremely well run store with absolute consistency. Keep it up guys, I know how tough the business is. Cheers, Phil

The M&B chain of restaurants offer the diner a range of delicious menu items and good portion sizes at a very competitive price. This branch is no different. Waiters are friendly and chatty and makes the meal feel more like a social event than a plate of food. Tables are large and chairs are comfortable. The outside seating area is lovely and the couches inside along the wall are always a good spot too. Service is quick and food is excellent. The perfect place for a quick drink or meal.

We had breakfast this morning around 9am. Food and service was great... however we were being harrassed by a couple and their dog asking for money apparently collecting money for food for their dog. !!!!!!! ... They were going to each and every customer of yours ... It was very unpleasant and your waiters were clearly upset by this. Hope something can be done .

In terms of experience, it was pretty much what was expected but praise has to be given to the manager on duty. He was pretty much on the ball the whole time and without him, service would have been pretty slow. Well my eggs were a bit overdone but other than that. Not really much to comment on. Food wise, it was just a typical breakfast.

Always a good breakfast here. I’m vegetarian and they are always accommodating in swapping breakfast items for me to make the meal vegetarian. Thanks!

Ordered food by them with the OrderIn app. Everything was bad. Did the mix and match, six items it total, and nothing and I mean nothing was palatable. Onion rings where soggy and oily, chicken wings smelled off..BAD BAD BAD!!! Some of the sauces where also missing..and the way that they packed the take-away was awful. Everything ended up going into the dustbin. In future will order at Dainfern. If I could I would give them NO stars.

Early morning coffee Sat outside in early Spring sunshine <br/>Nice ambiance Good place for business meetings<br/>Good quality cappuccino Quick service Friendly as well <br/>Struggled to pay the bill as no waiters in sight<br/><br/><br/>

Dirty plates (old cheese caked on a non-cheese dish) and oil and grease under a plate. Bad service, waiters more interested in talking to each other.

This branch needs major work, service is lackluster but they seem understaffed so that may be the reason. Ordered breakfast skillet, Eggs came fried instead of poached (probably too much effort) mince and other ingredients where so terrible we did not end up finishing our meal.  <br/><br/>Managed to serve decent coffee though, hence the one and only star.<br/> Manager did remove the charge from our bill after a bit of back and forth about what a hair looks like in food.

Frozen chicken and Waiting 1.5 hours for an omelette and a toasted chicken mayo is insane. The chicken in the sandwich was still cold. And by cold I mean, like it was frozen and not defrosted. A sad day for muggy and bean.

I had brunch 🍳 with my kids this morning @ M&B<br/>We enjoyed their breakfast however the service was ridiculously bad .<br/>The waiters just chill and chit chat with each other and don't pay attention at all😪<br/>It was empty today but took so long for them to bring our meals even my child said "my gosh the service here mommy "<br/><br/>The kids had the M&B on the go and the sloppy Joe which they enjoyed ... I had the shakshuka it was lovely and spicy, initially served cold had to ask for my breakfast to be reheated .<br/>This meal kind of rekindled my love for M&B😍<br/>Coffee at M&B is always good ... <br/>M&B is a life saver for the all days Breakfast 🍳👌🏻

We went for breakfast. Shocking service. Table of 6, only 5 meals arrived a few at a time. When the bill came it had extra items added. Will not go back.

My absolute favourite Mugg & Bean, service is awesome, great location and food is really good. Got a lovely vibe and the staff make you feel like part of the family. Great place for family outings or business lunches. Managers are super attentive too.

Dropped in for coffee on a couple occasions and went for a quick breakfast the other day! Very pleasant, and good service. Never been a huge fan of the coffee at Mugg & Bean and their meals seem to be getting more expensive by the day. It's no longer somewhere you go for a quick coffee and a snack, rather a sit down meal.. the price point has pushed them into that bracket for me!

The service at this Mug is far superior to others in the area. Food can be a little inconsistent. Perfectly located with an inside and outside section. Waiters do make up for the moderate food. I have eaten here on a number of occasions

I love mugg and bean. This branch is down the road from me and it's so easy to stop for a quick snack. The eating spaces are located both inside and outside depending on your mood. The umbrella section is my favourite on a sunny day. It's a very chilled spot and the waiters are attentive. They know the menu well and food comes out quickly

I have been to this mugg and bean many many times. The food is ok. The waiters and always there to attended the costumes and they are great. But this place is always really busy.

We came here for brunch and even though it was very busy, we were well attended to by all the staff. I tried out their matcha latte and had chicken wings in an Asian teriyaki and ginger sauce that was served with a beetroot and orange salad- awesome flavours! Hubby had a decadent hot chocolate with a chicken mayo and bacon croissant.

I was fortunate to be invited to a food tasting, at the Lonehill Branch, of some of the new items on the Winter Menu for Mugg and Bean. The new items on the menu are inspired by the health wave hitting us, global trends, and a lot of Asian inspired flavours.<br/><br/>On arrival we were offered 3 different flavoured team floats, I had the Matcha Green Tea, which is served in what looks like a mini milk bottle. The flavour is absolutely amazing and I’m sure the other 2 flavours are just as good. The next item really blew my mind, it’s a new Low-Carb Gluten-Free Bread, the bread is surprisingly fluffy, light, and extremely delicious. You can actually buy the bread from the Mugg and Bean (well at least the Lonehill Branch) and take it home.<br/><br/>We then moved on to some soups, one of the soups really stood out for me, the Coconut, Carrot and Ginger soup was absolutely full of flavour, thick, and delicious. Now on to the breakfast skillets, there are 3 different ones available, I had a vegetarian skillet which had some leeks, mushrooms and baby potatoes with a poached egg nestled on top. However the skillet didn’t quite do it for me, but I suppose if you were a vegetarian you would enjoy it.<br/><br/>Then came an Asian inspired dish of fresh flat breads with fillings. I had the falafel, spinach, and red pepper which is a great vegetarian option; and the Sesame crusted buttermilk chicken, which had to be my favourite dish of the evening. The chicken was juicy and succulent, and the sesame crust was delicious and crunchy, the best part of the dish was the peanut satay sauce that was drizzled on the inside. On to some healthy burger options was the Bare Burger which is served on a mushroom eliminating the need for the roll.<br/><br/>On to the sweet stuff, first off we had some power smoothies. There were two available 1. The Banana, Caramel Espresso Crunch Power Smoothie which was my favourite, the bitterness of espresso and sweetness of caramel work well together; 2. The green apple, Chia seeds Power smoothie, I didn’t get to tast this but the other patrons said it was fantastic. We also had the Decadent Chocolate Hot Milkshake, which is ice-cream in a jar with hot chocolate and marshmallows on the side, giving you the opportunity to play with your food and mix and match as you wish. Lastly was the Choc Chip Cookie Dough layer cake which was light, not stodgy, generous amounts of icing and would go down well with a hot cup of coffee. <br/><br/>All in all some fantastic new additions to the menu.

Love the setting, small town village feel!! Alway have the same drink when going to Mugg and Bean, the good old power smoothie-peanut butter and banana!! Yummy
Candice Gerber
Another peanut butter power smoothie. Such an awesome tasty drink I can't get enough of. Each Mugg n Bean we have been to offer a difference in presentation of this drink and sometimes a complete different flavour but none the less we go back for more. 😃

As per the general expectation of Mug and Bean, this one does not lack in good food and great service. Love the atmosphere and fast service.

Just had a bite to eat, and the service from our waiter, Chappie, was a solid 10 out of 10. He was friendly and enthusiastic, and although they took a while to clear the dirty plates, his friendly smile made me totally forgive that. The food was OK. I had the nacho dippers with mince. Something was lacking, might actually be a combo of both the mince and the chips lacking flavour. My boyfriend had the shanghai beef wrap which he seemed to have really enjoyed, although he did say thay it had a touch too much soy sauce. Overall a nice lunch.

The local breakfast spot on a Sunday! Quick, friendly service. Orange juice is super fresh and the South African Farm breakfast is superb! R220 for two breakfasts with two mega juices is also good value for money.

Standard restaurant - ok service and ok food. I dig hanging out for the Internet and coffee. Food-wise I think the toasted sandwiches do best. <br/>

Seated myself and no menu after nearly an hour. proactive service is needed, I shouldn't have to wave down for service.

Mugg and Bean is standard all round, so don't expect magic menus or magic food. This particular spot gets awfully busy so expect to be kept waiting when it gets packed. Regardless however, I always found the food ok and never had a disappointing experience. I'm thus surprised to see a couple of bad reviews. Although it's located at the car park, at least it's in the corner so there's not a lot of traffic passing.

Mugg & Bean is great normally, but the next time I have good service here will be the first. It seems to be the accepted norm, no management, tones of waiters yet the service is still so poor!

This mugg & bean is an absolute joke. I have yet to have a good experience here. We used to go every Saturday morning and pop in occasionally during the week too <br/>Every time there is something wrong, from the food being cold, meal coming incorrectly, and my best, on two occasions, having a missing ingredient and only telling me after the food has arrived and still having to pay for it. Management are not helpful at all either and a general lack of service<br/><br/>So bad that we've changed our weekly breakfast spot

Easy access, pretty good service, good value for money and free internet - what's not to like ?

This is officially my favourite Mugg and Bean. I went here a couple of weeks ago with my sister in between meetings and it was such a pleasure eat and relax somewhere so well run. I cannot complain about one thing. This Mugg and Bean is so well laid out with the inside opening up onto the outside on two sides. Its open and spacious and you feel so comfortable the minute you sit down. <br/><br/>We had a great waiter. I had the best best best vanilla latte I have ever had and my breakfast was equally as scrumptious. I had the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on ciabatta. They are so generous with their portions and im always grateful when the kitchen doesn't skimp on the expensive ingredients and you just have lots of food with every mouthful. My sister had an omelet and it was bursting at the seams with yummy cheese, mushrooms and bacon. <br/><br/>We were two very happy customers and ill definitely be back again and again and again.

The shop was busy but I waited 5 mins to be given a menu - asked for a Cappucino whilst checking the menu. 10 mins later - no coffee! I left!
