Review Simply Asia Benmore Gardens - Sandton

I love it here. It was very quiet cause of the public holiday & I was looking for a place to just eat something. I'm quite happy that I bumped into a sushi place. Sushi is ALWAYS a good idea 😂 The gentleman that helped me was very lovely, patient and had a calm energy to him - odd that I actually didn't get his name actually, I was probably distracted. He was rather sweet. Onto the food, it so happened to be half price Sushi Wednesday, yaiy for me! In my head, I automatically wanted to eat everything - not cause of the special but because every time I have sushi it's at a sushi buffet so I think my mind has ruined me. I ordered some amazing menu items to nibble & try, I must say I wasn't too disappointed at all. I loved the presentation of the sushi & the taste of the Inari sushi (with bean curd), it was just divine. I also loved the deep fried salmon & avocado roll which had the most amazing flavour combinations to it. It was so perfect. Last but not least, I tried something really new in the spinach fried dumpling. I honestly didn't know what to expect & I thoroughly enjoyed it when I tried. With the accompanying chilli sauce, it made so much sense. On it's own, you wouldn't be wrong to think it was a bit bland. But overall, it's lovely. Aesthetically, it's not wow. It's literally like any other fast food takeaway spot so don't have expectations on how it should look like. But still, I enjoyed this fully.

ive also eaten there and service was awesome

Nellie is a treasure to Simply Asia Benmore Gardens! They mixed up our order on 7th July, Friday evening and I received my food considerably later than I should have. I let them know that I was dissatisfied and by Saturday early afternoon Nellie, the manager, had ensured that the issue was resolved and that I would remain a loyal customer. Thank you Nellie and team!

Great place at the Benmore Centre for an authentic Thai meal. I have tried the 3 branches of Simply Asia in Port Elizabeth and there is no comparison.. Here the food tastes like Authentic Thai Dishes.. Great waitrons and excellent service...

Best place to get a tasty meal. I got quite unlucky with the gluten allergy, and I couldn't visit this place anymore. If they update the menu with Gluten free items, that would be great.
Carike Botha
The noodle soup starter (202) wasn't quite what I expected, but it was tasty nonetheless. Will try something else next time. I recently went there again and I had Roasted Chilli Paste and Cashew Nut Noodles (514) a friend of mine suggested it. It tasted great. It was exactly what my tastebuds were craving. I will definitely go there again.

Love Asian food. My go to place for a quick bite and fast service. Know the staff by now and chef's cool. Prices are reasonable. If you want a quiet place to sit, then this is not for you. It's in a busy spot of Benmore Gardens. Then order take out.

Tasty food. Great service even when just ordering for takeaway.
Jenny D
Food is nice and well cooked, just portion is smaller and smaller and prices gone up a lot. One dish felt like wasn't enough
Charmaine S
You wait write a while for the food, because it's freshly made, but so worth it.

Cannot get enough of this food from Simply Asia, Love it, Staff could do with a little happiness training, some are very sullen.
Amanda Manyatshe
Great little shop. Family date spot. Half price sushi on Wednesday so if that is your thing, you know what to do. No bookings necessary. Just show up hungry 😁

More a take away place, so won't rank the atmosphere. But always pleasant service and delicious food. 7 years of ordering and never been disappointed

I am a huge fan of simply asia, however, this past week i ordered my normal 201 and 309 might as well of been the veg option because they skimped on the chicken, i also noticed my portion was much smaller than normal. Very disappointed. Not value for money at all đŸ„ș

What a disappointment! Greasy food slapped onto a greasy cold plate. Waiter then put it into the microwave for 2 minutes and I was presented with greasy limp food on a still cold and more greasy plate. Steamed bun was also microwaved and rock hard and inedible.
Nancy Mngomezulu
Just ordered the sweet soy noodles, and the cauliflower is off and so is the broccoli. Why would you not check if the food is off or not before making the meal? Can you not smell that the veggies are off while you're making the meal?  <br/><br/>I don't know what's upsetting me more: the fact that I ordered food that I cannot eat because it's off or the sheer audacity of serving people food that is off and making them pay for it
Guillermo Van Veen
Ordered amongst the dishes a chicken soup, which was in fact a prawn soup - shellfish being a known allergen to which I am luckily only mildly allergic.<br/><br/>This branch simply cannot be trusted for quality control.

So I love Simply Asia. I haven’t often when I’m working late and don’t want to cook.<br/><br/>I always order meal number 623, medium, seafood. And the one I ordered at Benmore for takeaway is the worst one I’ve ever had.<br/><br/>There were literally 2 prawns and 2 pieces of calamari. There were no veggies...nothing! Just noodles! It was terrible! Oh and I ordered mild and it was super hot!<br/><br/>I will never order here again!

The best thing about this outlet is the service is very friendly. <br/>The food is always delicious - never had a bad meal here. <br/>Always get takeout though because the seating arrangement is not the best.
Yudeshtra Naidoo
Delicious Thai food. Great veg and vegan options. However indoor section pretty cramped and annoying sensor goes off every time door opens. No ambience. Rather takeout from here. Normal prices. New tasty desserts.

Staff are absolutely rude and service is shocking. They take out their frustration at customers and Waiting time for a bowl of noodles is 45 minutes!!!

A Tale of Thai terror:<br/><br/>I do frequent this chain and for the most part am pleased with the meals.<br/><br/>Tonight was different, very different.<br/><br/>After a starter order of the spinach "dumplings" - we soon realised this meal might not be what we were hoping for.<br/>PS: if you picture a dumpling like I, and the rest of the world do, you will be intrigued at just how differently Simply Asia imagines this traditional treat - think more along the lines of a mini toasted sandwich.<br/><br/>Dissatisfied and yearning for a tasty starter we went for the good ol' trusty springrolls only to soon discover they were undercooked. Abait still better than the preceding dish, which led us to believe things were looking up for this meal. (spoiler: they were not looking up!)<br/><br/>Whilst waiting for our mains, warning signs did appear. One particular patron got up out of her seat and ran to the chefs window violently knocking her fists against the glass and then proceeded to walk into the kitchen to query what the **** was the "oil and chicken" that arrived in place of her meal.<br/><br/>In the midst of all this commotion our main courses finally showed up to the party - the kind of party where the birthday kid ends up crying all night.<br/><br/>Order 1 - Thai Green curry a.k.a coconut milk, oil and chicken with chilli as the only flavor. Need I say more.<br/><br/>Order 2 - "Crispy Thai fritter and vegetable stir fry". What landed up on the plate was boiled vegetables and an overfried fritter of cornstarch. The flavor seemed to have been misplaced alltogether along with the entire concept of a "stir fry". The dish was only edible by drowning it in soy sauce and fresh chillis.<br/><br/>To their credit the waiter explained to us that this disaster date night was due to new menu items which were introduced and subsequently induced a state of chaos in the kitchen.<br/><br/>Let this be a lesson learnt to this particular establishment and the chain as a whole:<br/>Don't introduce a new menu unless you have thoroughly trained your staff beforehand.<br/><br/>Sincerely,<br/>A pissed-off patron<br/>

The worst vegan meal in existence: <br/><br/>This evening, in the excitement of them having added vegan options to their menu, we frequented this establishment and ordered the spinach dumplings (124) which didn’t live up to expectations and were not what I would call dumplings at all. We then ordered the vegetarian spring rolls (101) which are usually good but unfortunately this time were undercooked. Now, with dread I must describe to you the main course (328): this was honestly the most flavorless meal I’ve ever had, here at a Thai restaurant I found myself asking ‘where is the garlic?’, ‘where is the chili?’ And ‘where is the flavor???’. It was literally cornstarch and vegetables made into a patty on top of the same vegetables that were cooked in what appeared to be plain oil with a side of an unknown sweet sauce. I had to ask for chili and soy sauce just to make it edible, and now here I sit though full, entirely dissatisfied. We will not be returning to Simply Asia Benmore and I highly recommend that you find your next Simply Asia meal elsewhere. <br/><br/>P.S. while we were there another customer took to banging on the glass window to get the attention of the chef and then walked around back to yell at the staff about her meal. ‘This is the worst meal I’ve ever had!’ She yelled, ‘first you say it’s chicken and now you say it’s beef?! How do you not know the difference?’ ‘My plate was dripping in oil!’ Were some of the comments that fired from her mouth. <br/><br/>Take our advice and avoid this branch at all costs, if you find yourself in Benmore Gardens Shoppig center rather visit Col’cacchio instead (they have vegan cheese :D)

I asked for no chilli/prawn 614. I received seafood with chilli. My order took 40 minutes to make. At 30 minutes, the kitchen staff could be seen pointing at each other while I waited and waited and waited ....

First time trying out Thai food. The 264 duck was quite pleasant. A must-have quick meal. The meals need to come quicker; it's a fast food restaurant.
Amber Kayser
Extremely Rude Manager!! No one bothered to greet us when we walked in!! Won't be coming back to this branch unfortunately!! Very disappointed!!
Michael Kohlberg (Mike)
Services is poor. I was told that my order would take 15 to 20 minutes. After 45 minutes and with a fuss I finally received an order with no apology. This order was then also wrong and the food was cold. Sorry I won't be back there again.
Foody Doodle
High quality, fresh, tasty food. <br/><br/>And it's fast food. <br/><br/>After a terrible experience at a Thai/Chinese spot down the road last night I needed to regain faith in our local spots. <br/><br/>Found it. <br/><br/>Thanks for the great dinner.
Byron Anthony Morris
Good quick easy and fresh food. No frills, no thrills. Convenient and they deliver. This is when when you really don't have time to dine but still want quality fresh food instead of a dirty burger or some fried chicken.
Sean Fitzpatrick
Placed an order, was told it would take 30 minutes. Sitting here an hour later and they have only started preparing my sushi. Hardly fast food, no apology, nothing. A joke of service when you consider my company is spending over R1000 here tonight on takeaways. Will not be back
Mike Emanuel
Disgusting place. Got the order wrong. No one apologised. Got scowled at for asking for the right order. Took so long for the food to arrive. Very expensive and not great quality or value
Gayle Ferguson Strong
Food fair, but not as good as other outlets. Beer old brew, only one we available by the glass with only one Coke light on stock...won't see me again.
Linda Meyer
The service is extremely slow - and the supervision non existent. The food is average - well below the standard of any other Simply Asia. Unfortunately no third time lucky 🍀 experience here! 😝
Lionel The Little Fox
<br/>A good place to sit in and order. Recommand the rice dishes and spicy sushis. If you want to take away, it's better to place the order on site and take after you shopping. Not a good idea to order on phone and wait, they may not have time to deliver.<br/>
Sam Huxham
Appalling. This is the worst SA branch BY FAR. Have been waiting 40 mins for our order. Waiter is AWOL.<br/>Do yourself a favour, and go to ANY branch but this one.<br/>No manager on duty, no waiters in sight, chaos in the kitchen. AVOID.
Faye Darby
Super angry .... ordered take aways. Our offices are 1 km away and we still have not received our food and it's 1h30 later... not impressed... no apology or anything.
Wilma
The food is excellent... The rest not so much...no rosé, no sparkling water - 'we are waiting for the order to be delivered'. Sounds like bad planning to me. We asked for two knives, got one, and had to ask twice for another. Probably won't be back, there are too many alternatives in the area.
Philip Goosen
You have to take in the entire experience to rate this one. First the most important factor which was the food. The sushi was really good, the salmon was really fresh and buttery which just melted away in your mouth, I also liked the spicy tuna which had just the right amount of bite to it all and all a good experience so 4/5. The service however was not good, not very friendly but also there was only one person staffing the sushi window which slowed things down a lot, that and the fact that she was talking to her friends instead of focussing on the task at hand this piece of the experience i rate 2/5. <br/><br/>Work on this simply asia benmore and the overall experience would just be so much better.
Blair Burmeister
Got a sushi takeaway tonight - took long to come out for a few fash sandwiches and salmon roses. Really worth it though, they were fresh and delicious. Nice sized sushi, not too big like at the PnP sushi bar in that centre.
FoodiewhippedSA
Great atmosphere, awesome food. If you in the mood for delicious and spices cuisine that Simply Asia Benmore a great place. Situated in the corporate jungle it's a nice breakaway from the office to enjoy a great lunch.
Kirstin Leigh Smith
Appalling service from this restaurant, we opted to have takeaways delivered and waited over 2 hours for the delivery. Unfortunate as the sushi was great when we eventually got to eat it.
Hardie Singh
Went there with family tonight, unfortunately the chicken was rubberized! Reported to the waiter & he in turn called the manager who was quite courteous and did realize the issue. He immediately asked for the replacement of the dishes & as luck would have it the new stuff was the same & chicken was still chewy and no change! Anyways left the place and evening was spoilt!
Jenna Tooch
Sometimes take out Asian restaurants taste artificial and this was fresh and flavorful. Absolutely delicious and great service!! The tastiest meal I have had in a long time!
Andrebez2424
Branch takes extremely long to deliver order, and got our order wrong twice in a row..very frustrating. Don't think I will order from this branch again. When we phoned to rectify they direct the blame at the customer.
Lisa
What a dump! All I can say is I really hope the kitchens are cleaner than the restaurant. The food is fine, but why should I go back to a place that can't even clean their very tiny waiting area. Yuck. Some staff etiquette training wouldn't go amiss either.
Luz Helena Hanauer
The sushi and curries are good, as this is an established chain, they hardly ever vary in quality. It is a known and safe flavor zone. However, the service is painfully slow sitting in and take aways are just impossible. A pity because I love their corn fritters :( The sitting area is next to the parking lot and it looks rather dirty most of the time. Not good if you are about to enjoy sushi.
Craig Barnes
The service here is good. Location can be very busy at times if you sit closer to the entrance. Food is yummy!!! Lovely vibe on a Sunday afternoon or week nights after work.
Philani Manqoba Mzila
The food is good. The vibe is good. They have a wild range of flavours to try out. Had a 603 which was really well made. Always good for a quick bite with a few mates.

We've ordered from Simply Asia Benmore at least twice a week for years for the spicy chilli vegan meals. Consistently good, though really miss the soy strips! Portion size could be larger - husband not filled up with a Simply Asia meal. Please keep expanding choices - love the Thai heat!
Esther Shaidi
I've never really had a meal from Simply Asia that I have regretted ordering. I can never for the life of me remember the order name but hey order number is close enough. <br/><br/>I had a sweet and sour dish while his was more of a salty spicy flavor combo. The heater is an added plus on a cold JHB night.

We ordered sushi for dinner tonight. Delivery took 1 hour 20 minutes and we only live approximately 1.5 km away. Had to phone twice to check up on my order. Sushi was falling apart. The rice was definitely not up to standard. So very disappointing. There is clearly no quality control happening in this branch. Standards have dropped drastically. Complacency seems to be the order of the day. Once was my favourite thai place. Not anymore. Had another disappointing experience some weeks ago during the songkran special but thought it was once off and did not post about it.

My local go to place on the day I don't have anything in the fridge ;) love this place! Lots of vegetarian options and they are very accomodating to and tweaks and changes I want. My all time favourites are the sweet corn cakes, and the green curry with tofu. It's also perfect in this weather :)<br/>Love their stir fires as well... <br/>Must try if you haven't!!
Jeandre Cooke
Terrible! Twice we've had items missing from our delivery for which we'd paid. On the most recent occasion, having waited over an hour for delivery, we called the restaurant to inform them of the missing dish, which they promised to deliver. We live within walking distance of the restaurant but never received this. Disappointing!

I often pop past here for lunch during my work breaks and for quick dinners during the week too as i love Thai food. <br/><br/>Majority of the time I call ahead and order and the staff are generally quite on the ball. The food is prepared quite quickly and one of the things I enjoy about this place is that if you would like to you can see directly into the kitchen where you can see the staff preparing your meals. <br/>I did once have a mix up where I ordered Duck spring rolls and only when I got back to the office noticed they gave me chicken instead, the manager immediately apologized when I called and delivered a fresh portion of the correct spring rolls to my office.<br/>I enjoy the variety of noodles that they offer as well as the fact that they happily try to satisfy each request with changes you want (eg. no garlic,or substituting the rice for extra veg instead)-this is something that stands out to me as many places I go to become quite sticky when you want to make small changes.<br/><br/>Some of my favorites are the 514 (Roast Chilli Paste cashew nut noodles), Tom Yum Soup and the 303-Basil And Chilli Stir Fry done Thai Style!
Tiffany
Had a really lovely lunch with my boyfriend here today. Had the 515 with Chicken. It was absolutely delicious. Only reason S.A Benmore is not getting 5 is because the service although great was very slow. Will definitely be back though.
Dani
This restaurant is to avoid <br/>I had their special which is a choice between 3 different stirfrys and a free Bos ice tea <br/>First thing: it took ages for the food to come <br/>Second: the Chinese stirfry came with mostly noodles and a few pieces of chicken or tofu (depending what you ordered) the noodles were 2minute noodles<br/>Definitely not a delicious "Asian" meal
Brent Packett
Waited half an hour for two items. When I got back, the honey chicken was missing the vegetables. This may seem a trivial point, but when told it will take 15 minutes at maximum and you have to wait double that time, getting an incomplete order is just annoying and unprofessional.
Nicole Zetler Shapiro
I've ordered food a few times from this Simply Asia. Although the food is good - (like most Simply Asia's) I do however find the staff and service at this particular branch very poor. They often get mixed up, it seems chaotic when collecting and ordering and they don't make any effort with customers. Please improve the service. The delivery option is also ridiculously slow.
Gabbi Knipe
Not bad. <br/>The food arrived a bit on the cold side, but was still delish! <br/>Some of the staff members were extremely unfriendly, but their service wasn't too bad. <br/>Will definitely go back.
Heidi Bantam
I popped in for a takeaway after work, calling ahead and collecting on arrival. Service was swift. The restaurant is nice and airy and you can see the chefs at work. The food was tasty. We had the 514 with noodles, veg, chicken and cashew nuts, and the 614, similar but with calamari and prawns. The only gripe is that the prawns weren't peeled properly. Nice to have another option on the way home.

Sep 4 dinner: Friday night, home party and decided to order in from Simply Asia, Benmore. The ordering experience wasn’t very smooth. The lady didn’t seem to understand what we wanted. Finally, by using the numbers mentioned against the dishes, was able to order. When the delivery came, we were all partyng and hence did not check what came in (big mistake). Instead of veg, the dishes were chicken. So, the rice and the green curry was with chicken. When we called them, they were already closing and hence could not help and probably the last time I order from this place. However, pleasantly surprised to receive a call from the manager on next morning apologising for the mix up. He invited us to visit the outlet and eat for free. A week later, we were near Benmore and decided to visit the outlet. Though we ordered more than what we had earlier, the manager actually didn't want to charge for the food. However, we insisted on not paying only for those items where there was a mix up. Thank you for the hospitality. After this incident, have ordered from this place and that is only because of the service provided by the manager.

Currently rating this as purely a take away establishment. I had the seafood red curry which was delicious, the medium hotness was tasty which they usually get wrong. Unfortunately the prawns weren't shelled properly and I had to de-shell the bottom quarter every time. The spring rolls are incredible. Hopefully next time the rating will go up if the food preparation is better?
Jedd Zetzer
Terrific restaurant!! Highly recommend number 514, it was delicious! Tastes delicious, great service and reasonably priced! Will definitely be returning!
Rakesh
Had some friends over and ordered Simply Asia. Order took 3x as long, spoke to two of their staff and they still got order wrong. Food that was ordered, was mediocre and not comparable to the quality that we are used to from Cape Town đŸ‘ŽđŸœđŸ‘ŽđŸœ
Nic Dean Burger
45min for take away order? A bit ridiculous for 2 people. Claim they deliver but site does not offer deliver option even though I'm less than 5km.
Grace Sing Gen
Ever have those days when you're really tired, hungry and you've already parked your car? I never really carry cash on me so ordering in on the fly can be annoying if I don't have enough for the order, delivery charge and tip.<br/><br/>Through OrderIn I've had hassle-free deliveries - the best part? Free delivery from Simply Asia in Benmore. Obviously free delivery is based on proximity, but now I can get delicious food without even leaving the house - for the win!<br/><br/>I ordered duck spring rolls which I found to be crispy and tasty, my cousin thought his one was a little dry. The honey chicken dish is really great, the chicken was tender, spiced nicely and the honey sauce complimented the flavours. <br/><br/>The portion sizes are decent and so are the prices, go on treat yourself.
Khensani Makhubela
Absolute gem! I usually order over the phone when I'm about 5 minutes away, and just pay and pick up when I arrive. Ridiculously fast service, very friendly staff who see me face almost every week, and some of the tastiest food. My go-to meal is the #514 with soya (I'm vegetarian). Very consistent, and so so good. I doubt I'd ever sit down to eat, only because it's so close to home and it's quite a small space... Still 10/10 😄

So we watched the rugby and naturally decided to have some Asian food with it... the menu has this awesome feature where you can say the number instead of trying to read those words, a great help i must say. The delivery was rather quick and the food was (as always) spectacular. The one dish was a bit bland but still tasty and the others... they were like heaven in my mouth 😊 i recommend this to others with great confidence.

This almost 'express' Simply Asia, no matter how busy they are (and they get busy), seems to always have a smiling face to offer assistance which makes them stand out for me. I am a huge Simply Asia fan and eat at their Bryanston branch at least once a week so I will start with a little bit of repetition on their offerings.. Simply Asia offer a wide range of soups, sushi, duck dishes, Thai dishes, Vegetarian dishes, seafood and a choice of not one but twelve (12) types of noodles. They then ask you to select your chilli level and wa-la! It really is that quick and easy! <br/><br/>*Update 26/9/2015: I popped in here on Saturday morning for a snack and was incredibly disappointed to be chased away by a staff member called Shepherd, who, when I said I would like to take/add some good quality photos to my (previously) 4/5* review of this branch that I am very fond of, told me that taking photos was a 'security risk' and not allowed??  Incredibly rude and unnecessary treatment of someone who was (past tense now) very fond of this Simply Asia.
Cait Morris
Didn't think there was consistency between the stores when eating at the Benmore branch. My usual order lacked the saucy thai flavours and the service was very average.

Today I had the honour of being a patron of this great Simply Asia. I was eagerly awaiting my visit here since my good experience at Simply Asia in Grosvenor.<br/><br/>When I reached I was greeted by the owner (I guess). I was uncertain to eat inside (pretty tiny) or in the outdoor covered area. I was worried about the wind, but we were guaranteed that we would be provided with a heater if things got nippy. <br/><br/>When we were comfortably seated and told about the opportunity to win a trip to Thailand, our waiter Nkosi (aka God) attended to us with the menus. There was also a new sushi menu, which I plain forgot to order from.<br/><br/>Nkosi was very friendly, humorous and overall entertaining. Apparently the bosses best, which is why we got him to serve us :) <br/><br/>I asked Nkosi for his recommendations on what to eat. I must say his moving between the meal options so quickly made me a bit disorientated. I am not too fond of the way in which the menu is laid out. Makes it much harder to read.<br/><br/>After a minute or two deliberation between which prawn and which chicken meal to order, together with Nkosi we chose the famous chicken noodle dish and the equivalent prawn and calamari but with egg fried rice. Though we knew that the rice would be extra, Nkosi, you should have highlighted that here - especially if the person you serve next is not a foodie.<br/><br/>First Nkosi brought out the condiments of chilli powder and soaked chilli (one in vinegar, another in fish sauce) and some brown sugar (not for our meal we were informed); together with our bottle water and clean glasses :)<br/><br/>Shortly, Nkosi brought us our mains. After my first bite of the famous noodles, I was not impressed. I felt it was dry and tasteless. It turned out to just be the top layer, which had obviously not been mixed well enough, because after that...well I just could not get enough. It was amazing!!! Full of flavour and those noodles were cooked perfectly. Saigon should learn a thing or two from Simply Asia (which is far better priced and yummier). My only complaint is there was not enough chicken....perhaps look into this. <br/><br/>I then tried the equivalent meal in terms of spices and ingredients, but swapped out the chicken and noodles for prawns and calamari with egg fried rice. It was good, but no where as good as the chicken meal. The prawns were cooked really well, but they still had the vein attached. This is quite unhealthy. I believe the owner took this up with the chef. The calamari was also cooked well, but lacked in flavour. But still very yummy. I kept taking bits of the noodles while eating this.<br/><br/>I have got to say that I will go back. We paid the bill, but were offered a free dessert, which we shared. We chose the coconut cake. First bite (what's with first bites here) was OK, but when I ignored the surrounding syrup it was super yummy. I would definitely leave out that syrup if serving it in future; it just overpowers the yumminess of the cake.<br/><br/>Well done guys...you would have been rated higher if it was for a cleaner prawn and a yummier calamari. See you soon for the R99 for 2 weekend specials on all chicken rice dishes... but I am definitely upgrading to noodles :)
Akira Ramraj
I ABSOLUTELY love the 530, I could eat it all day long :) such a great place for a quick meal that really satisfies you. Simply Asia is one of my favs, all their food is delicious and the service is always great. Everyone should give it a try.

I was lucky enough to attend this week's Zomato Foodie Meet Up at Simply Asia Benmore Gardens. <br/><br/>I went expecting an average take out dinner in a typical shopping mall restaurant, but was treated to a truly lovely evening. The staff and management pulled out all the stops for us, including teaching us how to make our own sushi, recommending the best wines, treating us to their specials and even serving us meals made especially for the occasion. <br/><br/>Things I learnt:<br/>I'm never going to be a sushi chef - that $hit is hard<br/>I'll eat any sushi - even if I've made a pretty dismal concoction that only slightly resembles sushi<br/>Duck is a difficult dish that isn't always a great choice<br/>Egg fried rice will change your life - even the most sceptic of you out there<br/>Give me prawn linguini any day<br/>I'm easily amused - give me a (tasty) palate cleanser with some dry ice and I'm happy<br/>Anything deep fried is automatically better - please give a warm welcome to deep fried bananas<br/>Coconut cake is delicious<br/>Chocolate spring rolls should feature as a regular part of my dining routine<br/><br/>Simply Asia is far more than your typical take out restaurant, it's an evening filled with new experiences. I hope they do well, they certainly deserve to.

Last night I was privileged to enjoy a four course dining experience at Simply Asia Benmore. And yes privileged is the correct word.<br/><br/>The food is incredible.<br/><br/>As a starter we were presented with three different types of mini spring rolls. The vegetable spring rolls were the best! They were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Cooked to perfection. Unfortunately I was not a fan of the duck spring rolls as I thought they were very dry and slightly taste - less, so the sauce on the side was needed.<br/><br/>Then we were lucky enough to partake in a little sushi lesson! This was so much fun! Everyone was just laughing and having a great time. I must say my appreciation for sushi has increased 10 fold. My sushi was divine, however the platters too the cake! They were absolutely stunning! And some of the best sushi I have tried! Simply Asia Benmore is going to open up this sushi making lesson to the public in time to come, which is perfect for some birthday fun!<br/><br/>As a main I was lucky enough to try a few of their meals! And dammm! Absolutely divine! From this experience I have learnt that no matter what you order here, it will be out of this world! And yes, everything from egg fried rice to thai green curry is simply delicious!<br/><br/>On going to Simply Asia Benmore I would highly recommend ordering a few main courses for the table and sharing them. This allows you to enjoy the full tasting experience!<br/><br/>And just when I thought I could not eat anymore dessert came along! And all of a sudden I developed a "new" stomach to eat! The coconut cake and chocolate spring rolls were two of the best desserts I have ever eaten! It is so perfect to end a meal off with. You need to order them!<br/><br/>For drinks I ordered a strawberry daiquiri and had red wine. The daiquiri was full of flavour and nothing artificial. Their wine selection is very good as well! I thoroughly enjoyed the drinks.<br/><br/>Unfortunately I did not like the cappuccino I had. The foam was very minimal and the coffee did not taste the greatest.<br/><br/>Previously I views simply Asia as a take away joint, however after last evening I discovered it is alot more than that! And sit down is recommended.<br/><br/>Thank you #zomatosa for inviting me to the #foodiemeetup as I enjoyed it so much. #simplyasiabenmore you are fantastic! #zomatoxsimplyasia

Last night I attended a ZomatoMeetup at Simply Asia Benmore and I really was excited as the last Simply Asia meetup that I had been too was amazing. I met eight new people who share my passion for food so the conversations on the table seemed to just flow. <br/><br/>To start off with, we were served a welcome drink and could choose from a Mojito or a Strawberry Daiquiri - I of course chose the Mojito. Love the presentation and very happy that they didn't skimp on the gin... hihihi *as I got ready to call for an UBER.<br/><br/>For starters we were served a choice between duck and vegetarian spring rolls - I really don't like cabbage so I kept it safe and went for the duck and bot did I go in... eish. The only complain I have is that there wasn't more *hides face*<br/><br/>Then, boy oh boy, we had a "how to make your own sushi" lesson with one of the Simply Asia sushi chefs. See in the past I'd watch as they made my sushi and think, how hard could it be? Well then... the answer is "It's not as easy as it looks". Although I think mine might have been the best made sushi of the night - and I'm not kidding hahahaha, it was fun and funny seeing us all struggle.<br/><br/>After that, we had to eat our own sushi because obvs we couldn't send it back to the kitchen - like who would I complain to? But to soothe the blow, we were served the best sushi platters made by the pros and I just don't get it... We used the same rice, salmon and avo but theirs was 100x better... oh well, I can't be the best at everything I guess. *sigh<br/><br/>Then the mains came... what I loved the most is that they didn't just give us one option to choose from but we were given an array of choices and we all shared at the table. I like sharing, it sparks conversation even if you didn't want to talk to the person next to you - coz if you want that green curry that on my side, you best believe you gotta ask me. lol<br/><br/>Then desserts came - I can only judge from what others thought as I'm not a dessert girl - don't like chocolate and I'm allergic to banana and the coconut cake was there one second and gone the next lol, so I do believe everyone else enjoyed themselves. Everyone raved about the chocolate spring rolls, there was even an encore for them. The fried banana went down well with people as well *sidenote: I wonder what banana tastes like and whoever thought "it would be a good idea to fry this fruit"? Oh well I guess if we can fry tomato then we can fry banana.<br/><br/>All in all, it was an amazing night. I was so happy to have met everyone and hope I get to see them again.

Let me rave about this gem in Benmore Gardens. The food is delectable and the service is awesome. The General Manager Jesse Lemmer has his finger on the pulse and ensures that his customers are happy. His team of waiters echo his passion and enthusiasm and I can mention our waiter Themba for being great to us. For starters I had the Duck and Veggie Spring Rolls. Mains were delicious and ranged from Green Curry, Prawn Noodles and Duck dishes. I ended my night with Chocolate Spring Rolls, Deep Fried Banana and my highlight being the Coconut Cake served with ice cream. Such decadence coupled with great company and to top it off our own sushi making course. One night I will remember. Thanks to ZomatoSA, the foodies and our hosts that made the evening a pleasant and memorable one. #ZomatoMeetup #ZomatoXSimplyAsia #ZomatoSA @ZomatoSA #LoveFood Lesego BabyLee Puso Ryan Stapleton Jozi Poppy Zoe Hawkins Gugu Zwane Lethu Carol Ceecee Phakade Candice Richards

Now I know where to go for the best Asian food... Simply Asia in Benmore Gardens! My first @zomatosa foodie meet up was awesome!!! This restaurant has a wide variety of Asian dishes. For the starters I enjoyed the duck spring rolls. The duck meat and the prawn noodles was my favourite of the main dishes. I had fried banana for the first time and I enjoyed it with the vanilla ice-cream and coconut cake. Delicious... Feeling like a real foodie already #zomatoXsimplyasia #zomatomeetup #zomatosa #wannabefoodie #foodiewannabe #delicious 😊 @Ryan Stapleton

Excellent food! From spring rolls and sushi to noodles the range is stellar. But save room for dessert - the chocolate spring rolls are to die for. The atmosphere is nice and casual, and the service was very quick and friendly.

I have been checking out most of the simply Asia,One thing in common I have been experiencing is there is no consistency in the dishes. Each branch has been doing there own way trying to match the menu. The menu is nice, depends how lucky you are to get the best of Thai.<br/>Benmore branch is in the busy shopping mall and the service is just ok.I felt more like a take away service and the food was not up to the other branches

Yum! 514, chicken and medium heat...always a good option! I'm so happy Simply Asia has moved to Benmore and Illovo. Good good, especially now in winter. Great prices and value for money.

Got takeaways today and OMW so yum!! <br/>Had the chicken red curry 305 and it tasted amazing. So much more tasty than the other branches I've had that same dish at. <br/>Worth fighting the Benmore traffic for!

One of my favorite takeaway spots. Amazing food complemented with extraordinary flavours. It does take a little long to be prepared but is definitely worth the wait!

Love this branch! Close to home so my new favorite take-away grub, so much so that I have eaten here 3 x in the last week. The sushi is not bad at all. My once favorite 514 (roasted chilli paste and cashew nut noodles) has been overtaken by 317 (basil fried rice). Super yummy! Had the medium strength, careful the hot will blow your head off its that hot! Also had the prawn tom yum soup, the broth was amazing - sour and spicy (certain to cure any onset of the sniffles, and reminiscent of the Indian rasum or king soup!) all round deliciousness

Waiter not so friendly...food was great. Trying to get into Asian food and lifestyle and this was a great way to go about it. I will definitely go back and hopefully the service will be better.

Visited the Benmore Gardens branch today for lunch. We waited over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. When our food eventually arrived it was warm. Food tasted average, however I think that is due to the bad service.

awesome vegetarian and nonveg foods! I tried quite a lot of dishes. everything is good. Specially for Indian Veg guys, this is the best place.

Friendly service, great food! I come here not for the view but for the convenience and the great service. The staff make you feel at home, and the Thai food is delicious, consistently.

Damn was that yummy. In celebration of Chinese new here opted for something thai. Ped Raad Nam Makham Prik Phao which translated means damn good duck lol just kidding - Roasted chilli tamarind duck! Ordered it mild cant believe how awesome it was.. the flavours are amazing. Roasted duck lightly dusted with tempura flour, fried, sliced and topped with sweet roasted chilli tamarind sauce.<br/><br/>I had asked for takeaway so had a min value of R100 so added chicken springrolls.... also very tasty. Very happy with the service they even called to confirm my address and about 30-40 minutes later it arrived with a card machine... Although i asked them to bring change<br/><br/>Thanks for the good service and yummy food. I will be back!

It's difficult to write an objective review about this place because we know it's SO good! Their quality is unmatched and when it comes to "fast food" these guys are the kings of it in SA. It might be a little on the expensive side when it comes to fast food but the taste makes up for it.<br/><br/>The Benmore branch is well located in Sandton and is a great lunch venue for you and a few friends. They have an outside section with quite a few tables. The food is delivered fast which is what you want at lunch. <br/><br/>A nice little tip - take a tuk tuk to Benmore from Central Sandton. You won't get stressed out by the lunch time traffic and this will just add to the enjoyment. Other than that, you know that these guys are excellent and you have no excuse but to try them out!

Yum yum. Some of the best Asian takeout in Johannesburg!<br/>Flavours are great. Waiters helpful. The restaurant has a window at the kitchen so you can watch your food being prepared. I quite enjoyed that. Will definitely be back.

One of my favourite takeaway spots. Always grab a Chicken Pad Thai with protein soy, hot and if im really hungry i add a hot rock n roll. So glad they deliver
Nafisa Akabor
One of my favourite take away spots. Grabbed some the other day while doing errands - my absolute fav dish, 514 (chicken, noodles, veg and cashew nuts - spicy). The waiters were friendly and my meal was done in record time. This is one of the best Thai places you will find, even for a franchise. The prawn tom yum is what I order when I have the flu and the corn cakes with sweet sauce is the ideal starter.

No consistency in flavour. Ordered a medium and could barely eat it. Mild was also very very spicy. They have lost the quality they originally had

My heart did a backflip when I heard that my favourite chain opened a restaurant at Benmore Gardens. Last Saturday I took the opportunity to snoop around a bit and ordered a take-away.<br/><br/>The inside seating area is tiny (just 3 tables) and the outside area, while quite large, is sparsely covered by large umbrellas. It's definitely not ideal going into summer, with the nightly summer rains. Maybe the umbrellas are just an interim solution. This location doesn't have the same mood-lit, dine-in atmosphere as the nearby Hobart Centre Simply Asia. It feels more like Simply Asia "express."<br/><br/>The food, at least, was great. We ordered the 614 (spicy seafood and egg and noodles) , the 514 (spicy beef and cashew with noodles) and their Sushi Menu A (salmon nigiri, salmon roses, salmon and avo fashion sandwiches). The sushi was wonderful. Their Thai dishes were good as well, but the amount of chilli added was inconsistent. The dishes were incredibly spicy the first time, but when I ordered from there a few days later, it was incredibly mild. I'll chalk that up to teething problems. I'm quite confident they'll find that happy balance soon.<br/><br/>

Have no idea what they're doing. Placed an order for a takeaway at 7:20, received it at 8:15
