Super impressed with the food on every visit, highly recommend this place to anyone looking for indian food that tastes as good as your mums. Friendly staff makes one keep coming back. Keep up the high standards!
The best Durban style food in Johannesburg and possibly the best bunny chow anywhere. Ever. After searching for 12 years of living here, finally! the most amazing customer service as an added bonus!
Truly enjoy the curries at spice kitchen. I especially love that they have the carrot and chilli pickle that tastes just like the one my gran used to make when I was a kid. I stick to the carrot though, and its great that I can ask for just that.
The meat is excellent quality, and the portions are a good size. Potatoes melt in your mouth ... as they should.
The service is excellent, and the owner is on the ball with finding out what he can improve.
Well done!
Don't normally eat out, because of concerns. Today, Spice Kitchen Sandton blew my mind away with the tantalizing, delicious and aromatic vegetable breyani. It was out of this world. A definite recommendation....
Utterly fantastic... authentic Durban curry with just the right amount of heat, combined with great service & a personal touch.
Officially my new go-to for my curry fix.

I've never been a fan of Indian food, but this just blew me away!!! I enjoyed my meal!! I will surely be coming back for more!
Had the broad beans bunny chow and your veg biryani today. It's the best have ever tasted in such a long time. Durban curry is definitely what you promised and that's up we got. Will definitely be back.
Quality food! Awesome service! Will visit when in JHB again.. All the best
Tried numerous dishes on this menu and all have been spectacular. Really feels like home! Good stuff guys.
What!!!! Amazing and legitimate flavours, I've had their chicken curry and one of their specials - The lamb and samp mix!! YhoI!! Good job, also spoke to owner and staff...I'm A fan!
The best, most authentic Durban-styled curries and breyanis I’ve had outside of home
Really tastes like home cooked curries. Curries are not drenched in oil and you can taste the quality ingredients. Spices are well balanced and not just hot, but full of flavour.
Fantastic food. All round genuine Durban Indian curries. Can't wait to try the burgers
Great place with great service. Ordered curries hot the way we love it.

Absolute taste of Durban which I miss so much. Will be my next dining room to Mrs Govenders in KZN.
I'm really glad that I got to try this before the shutdown. I've been living in Johannesburg for 2 years now and ever since , I've been trying to find a bunny that even remotely resembles a Durban Bunny and none have come close until now. I will definitely be back when normal life resumes
Delivery took pretty long but was worth the wait. Mutton bunny on the bone was really excellent!!!
I had a hankering for a Lamb Bunny so decided on visiting as recommended by others on a FB group. Was everything I had hoped for.
Went in at about 13:00 to a fairly busy establishment - a good sign. Not too big but spacious enough with a wash basin as well.
Ordered a 1/4 Lamb bunny which is a bit steep at R95. It took a a few minutes to get to me but it was well worth the wait. This bunny was slightly larger than other places and as you can see there was no need to ask for extra gravy, this bunny was overflowing.
Bread was proper fresh, curry had great colour and thickness, balanced flavour and not too hot (karou). Accompanied by melting potato and tender pieces of lamb with a few boney pieces - really didn’t mind this.
Only 2 things I could critic was the amount of curry leaves in the curry and the vinegar from the salad made a part of the bread soggy. Other than that it was a fantastic meal.
Would highly recommend this place and definitely taking my family when in the area.
This was months ago, during winter and the sardine run, but have to give them a big shout out. Masala fried sardines, with rice and dhall, total taste sensation.
My go to spot for a DURBAN curry ... authentic and always fresh ... won’t go anywhere else
Indoor and outdoor seating, wait is not long for orders.
My husband ordered the lamb curry and he loved it. I had the beans curry - would of been amazing if the cinnamon was not so overpowering
I’ve heard good things about this place from friends and finally tried it on a rainy Saturday afternoon...the curry was perfect for the weather. I ordered a lamb bunny made hot and it came exactly like that. Well worth it!
Durban Indian Curry in Joburg. Quaint restaurant with no frills.. just some hearty South African Indian food... spicy 🌶 is their specialty. My favourite is the chicken roti wrap and lamb bunny
This little curry haven has dedicated, friendly staff, who give unbelievably good customer service. The curries are among the very best I've had anywhere in Johannesburg. Prices are reasonable and I always feel I've had good value for money. Eat in or take away.
Delicious Durban curries, very affordable! This is my favourite Indian restaurant at the moment - there is a basic menu with curries, rotis, bunny chows and samoosas, but everything I’ve had so far was delicious! You can sit down, but it’s more of a takeaway restaurant.
Honestly my favourite curry spot. The saddest thing about moving away from the area is I can no longer get delivery from them where I am. Brilliant food. Love it.
Am I impressed with this little hole in the wall! I’ve had their curry and rice before (note, it only comes bone-in). This time I tried their mutton roti - really delicious! You can’t pick your heat though, so if you can’t do ‘hot’ - steer clear. My tastebuds are still zinging:-). I’ll try their biryani next.
It was my first time ordering from the spice kitchen and the food was really so good. The portions are big as well, really will be going back for more :-)
This is an excellent little curry place, in the Durban "take away kiosk" style, although there are a few tables as well. The curries are full of flavour and the bunny chow is as good as you get down at the coast. Prices are reasonable too. The kitchen can sometimes be slow, even when the restaurant is quiet, but the food makes up for the wait.
Spice Kitchen is my all time favorite. Situated in Rivonia Boulevard below Saigon, this place has excellent food. This place is constantly busy so if you planning to sit and have a meal make sure you ask Anne to reserve a few tables for you in advance. The bunny chow is outstanding. This reminds me of true authentic Durban flavors.
They have a variety of great food option like the Chicken Tikka as well as the toasted Steak special sandwiches. These you have to try once.
And if you are still hungry try their soojie. It's a nice dessert but it's quite fulling so probably get one to share as it does packs a punch.

Feels like Durban. The KZNdians will get this one; tastes like the Govender’s bunny equivalent we’ve all been looking for. Great experience and great food 👌🏽♥️ #Rivonia
Definitely one of the best bunny chows I have had in Johannesburg. Food has been consistent everytime I have dined in or done a takeaway.
This establishment is squeaky clean. I was surprised by how minimalist it is. That's for obvious reasons. They don't specialise in decor, but their bunnies are Sensational. This is, by far, the best bunny I've eaten in Johannesburg. Pay them a visit and spoil yourself.
Amazing bunny chow, the best I've had! The service and happy vibe will keep me coming back. I highly recommend this place, zero disappointment, loads of love.
Ordered a Beans bunny and a Lamb bunny for the family, both were outstanding. Great taste and quality. The lamb bunny was definitely the winner, best one I've had in Jhb! Make sure to order the crushed chillies 👌🏽
Certainly one of the best lamb bunnies I've had in JHB. One could tell that it was freshly prepared and tasted like home.
The cheese and sweetcorn samoosas were incredible.
Service was great.
Definitely one of the best bunny chows and curries we have had in Johannesburg. Freshly prepared food without any compromise on flavour and portion size. The lamb bunny, chicken tikka and kebabs are our favorites. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. As visitors to Jhb this is a must stop for us on our way back home.
I had never had a bunny chow before I came here, but now I don't understand how these are not a thing everywhere! As a Brit, I have had my fair share of curries, and the Daal Gosht here was absolutely fantastic. 10/10. Would recommend.
Extremely good service and the food was AMAZING 🥰😍 absolutely love this place! It’s where you always want to eat 🥰🥰🥰 it’s worth every cent! ❤️
The best mutton bunny I've had in JHB so far! Sojee and samoosas were also pretty good. The gentleman working the till was also quite friendly and helpful.
Okay, the lamb curry was absolutely delicious! Tasty, flavourful and just the right amount of spice and gravy. Portions are a bit small for the price but it's a lovely meal overall. I haven't tried anything else from them but I'd definitely recommend the lamb curry. They understood the assignment. 💯
One of the best places for a Durban style bunny or curry.
Indoor and outdoor seating, wait is not long for orders.
My husband ordered the lamb curry and I had the beans curry - would of been amazing if the cinnamon was not so overpowering in both
Best Bunny Chow in Jhb and we have tasted bunnies throughout jhb. Nothing compares. This is the 3rd time we've been here and the consistency is amazing.
