Review Col'cacchio Pizzeria - Sandton

Casey Wood
I could rely on Col'Cacchios! Delicious food of reliable quality and relaxed ambiance made for a perfect date night. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. I'm never disappointed with any Col'Cacchio pizza. I had the mozzafiato - it's a woodfired crispy thin base bacon avo feta pizza. The moghul is also highly recommended - it's a Indian butter chicken pizza. The cappuccino and mock tail was great. The menu is on their website for easy viewing. Overall great experience

Beautiful Restuarant that serves amazing pizzas, pastas and other healthy meals.

The service and food was good. Loved the fact that they had pizza that could meet my low carb dietary requirements. Had a cauliflower based pizza, with a salad.

ABSOLUTLY THE BEST PIZZA. I had really great and friendly service. The food was incredible and has healthy vegan and low carb options. Cappuccino was good too

I had the brie pizza with extra bacon. The pizza at this restaurant is amazing. The staff are excellent. Highly recommended.

Such a lovely restaurant with extremely friendly staff. Tuesday 2 for 1 special is a great offer.

The food was great and the wait staff was amazing. But the owner or manager, not sure who, yelled at a waitress that we had been waiting for 10 minutes, when we had arrived about a minute before. It was a little off putting that she was yelling at the waitress in front of us, especially when the yelling was unnecessary.

Covid social distancing was in place and very pleasant restaurant. The pizza and pasta were presented well and tasted delicious! The pizza bases aren’t too thin which is perfect. The chocolate pancakes were awesome and the crostata di caramello was a different but great dessert. Service was great and the restaurant wasn’t loud, so it was very pleasant.

Friendly service with consistently good food. Also available on ubereats in the area, which also delivers good quality. Try the vitality options for discounts. During winter there are great two for one deals. Try the lunch menu for different and value for money meals.

Probably one of the best places to experience beef Ragu pasta. Haven't been able to buy it elsewhere. I tried making it at home with lackluster results. Service is excellent and fast. Very polite waiters and clean premises all the time. I recommend coming here anytime.

They make the best gourmet pizza I have ever had. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. They change their menu seasonally so you can always expect good variety and the chance to try new items every once in a while. Great for dinners.

Well maintained camp with good facilities and friendly staff. Easily accessible on the edge of the park. Bush is thick so game is hard to find but there are interesting drives around koppies. Pretoriuskop is set in hilly territory, so camping is uncomfortably sloped in a lot of the sites.

Amazing! Food was delicious and our waiter Walter was witty and charming! When you go ask for Walter! He made our dining experience so much fun! Management if you are reading g this, give this man a raise!

The pizzas here are always of high standard and the staff are always helpful.

Best Col’cacchio branch of them all! Outstanding service from truly competent, friendly and helpful staff. The food has always been exceptional every time we have been (which is usually twice a week at least). Highly recommend!

Came here on a Friday night for a quick bite before our movie which was starting at 20h30. We arrived at 19h50 (we were really cutting it short) and we were served immediately. The restaurant was super busy but despite this, we were impressed with the speedy service. We ordered a large pizza with 2 different toppings, one side was the Nacho Libre which is a must try and the other was the Morituri which was also pretty darn good, their base is light and crispy and the toppings were super fresh and tasty. Our food arrived within 10 minutes and we made it just in time for our movie. This is definately on my Top 5 list of best pizzas I have eaten. 👌🏼😊

Tried for the first time in years and was very disappointed. The pizza was fairly tasteless and my wife's chicken parmesano with zuchini noodles was served almost cold. Little to no interest from management in response either. Last time we ever go there unfortunately.

So I’ve been to Col’Cocchia and I’ve had the Broccolo Salad before...

But I don’t think I’ll order this specific salad again via takeaway.

I counted the broccoli pieces, and there was literally 6 small pieces of broccoli. The rest existing out of leaves and a piece of avocado here and there...

Disappointed in the quality and quantity when it comes to ordering food from a restaurant via takeaway compared to ordering it sitting down at the restaurant.

Restaurants really need to think about what they ask for the quality and quantity of their food...

3rd attempt at pizza as promised I would be a returning customer due to last time you guys fixed the pizza disaster. Today's order was back to square one, guys this isn't about scoring free pizza from you out of complaints, I'm not even about that but your pizza is serious dry and lacking flavour all round. I'm sorry but I won't be ordering from you again. this is my 3rd attempt and it's a no from me. The base is so dry and the cheese is barely there. I don't know why the standard is not consistent. Please look into flavour, there seems to be no salt in the dough and the toppings are extremely sparse.

Edit: Completely overaratted! 1st time and most likely the last time. Pizza was dry and the base was floury, very very thin and something as basic as a Regina, it hardly had a tomato base so the entire pizza was very bland. Disappointed. The price is over the top for just a pizza, I really expected a WOW pizza but it was just tasteless.

Edit : well done to the team for rectifying the matter. Extremely well handled and 2nd time around I can say that it's exactly how a pizza should be. Loaded toppings and no over floured base. Thanks guys. I'm a happy to return customer 🙂🙂🙂

Excellent service, a really stunning atmosphere with beautiful decor and stylish touches, and truly delicious pizzas bound to leave you more than satisfied.

I ordered the Ortigiano pizza. They are slightly more expensive than other pizza outlets, but they are very generous with the toppings and the pizza was great.

Take Out Review

I ordered a mogul pizza (one of my favorites) from this branch.

The pizza was burned, dry and not up to to usual standard of other franchises.

When it arrived, it was cold and also not properly cut (see picture).

Notwithstanding, service was good. The delivery man was very pleasant.

All in all, it will be a while - if ever - I order from this branch again.

Pro-Tip: order for delivery from the store itself: the prices on items are marked up on certain food delivery apps, plus you get charged for delivery. The store itself doesn’t charge for delivery.
Nice pizza variety here and a few grills.

Vegan option too for the pizza which is great in this day and age, also offering the gluten free options too.
The menu seems to have all the standard fare.
I had a pizza, it was fine. Not outstanding, it was fine, for the price it passes.
Service is decent, i think it does the job.
I had a stella which tasted like it was either sucked through dirty pipes or was on its last legs.
All in its an acceptable standard. No criticisms or any specifics, nothing exceptional either.
Go, don't go, your life won't change.
We had been here for our year end lunch..yup ..on 31 St of December. We liked the ambience very much and specially that curved couches.Couches are comfy and can occupy 6 or more.Coming to food...we orderered a autumno pizza with topping of caremelized onions, smoked mozerella and lasagna.Pizza was delicious to the mark and of good large size for 3. It was Perfect and filling .I didn't like lasagna much as sauce was just aubergine and tomatoes.OK types. Yes...My5yr old enjoyed bar one milkshake and it was ultra delectable and yum.I must mention waiter was helpful.

We don't have any idea of what Col'Cacchio means but if we were to guess, we would think it means: the finest thin based pizzas fired to epicurean perfection!

The menu boasts a selection akin to a pizza Nirvana with every delectable combination of topping on offer. With such an appetising variety to choose from, it's highly recommended that one order the already paired half and half pizzas. Each half has been selected by the kitchen to complement the other ever so delightfully.

We can't remember which halves we ordered but we can remember thoroughly enjoying them!

It's the pizzas that will have us returning again but like any Italian restaurant there are pastas and an assortment of other mains on the menu. Perhaps we'll try a few of these on our next visit. And maybe, just maybe, our translation of Col'Cacchio will be tweaked again.

My girlfriend and I went here for dinner twice. Both times the food was great as what you would come to expect from this place. Pizza and lasagne were good and even the Banting pizza for your health conscious folk!!
Travis
Ordered a salad and a make your own pizza (thin base) and found both delicious! The waiters were excellent. Col Cacchio also allows patrons to order a half and half pizza.

Definitely worth a visit.

I did not particularly like the setting of this Col'Cacchio branch. The space seems crowded and it seems as though too many tables are crammed into the space.
The food was good and of the same Col'Cacchio standard one would expect, I did however notice that their portions seem slightly smaller than other branches.
Gabrielzaidman02
Great pizza and deserts. Seeking a bit more of an Italian feel (vibe). It has become a little bit overpriced and it is rather overrated. I may return but not in the near future.

Catchup dinner with a group of friends at Col'Cacchio last night. Our one set of friends are vegans and excited to try the vegan range of foods. Really extensive range of choices for Vegaterians / Vegans. (they even have Vegan cheese)
The food was good which included gluten free Pizza's (which was terribly over cooked) Antipasti (delious and filling), Greek Salads (good), Vegan Pizza's (really good) and wine (the wine selection is surprisingly amazing)
The service was a bit slow, waiters forgetting things etc. Overall was an enjoyable evening followed by an awesome late night book sale at Exclusive Books!
This Italian franchised restaurant in Hyde Park shopping mall is one of their smaller branches. He interior is nicely done with leather booths and smaller tables in the middle of the eatery. Interestingly shaped wooden elements adorn the walls and ceilings, giving the space a sense of modernity.

During the week it is usually quiet, but over weekends (mostly for early dinners) it fills up.

Their service,in my opinion, has never been fantastic - on my most recent visit the staff seemed unable to cope with the sudden rush of diners due to an event happening in the mall. However, the manager didn't appear to be phased by this...

I would recommend having pizza here - it is after all what they're known for. The pasta dishes on the menu are rather predictable, and a lot of them are made with cream in the sauce. Again, you can't go wrong with their pizzas.

Really nice spot to grab a bite with some friends. Very reasonably priced. Service at times can be a bit slow, but the overall experience makes the food worth waiting for. The cranberry "granita" like drink is also really tasty and refreshing. Their pizza is my personal favourite and is what I would probably recommend. Go try it out if you're in Hyde Park Corner!

Today am in a hurry but need to eat - didn't grab brekkie. But alas, don't know what to eat, choices, choices....

Decide to settle on this Col'Cacchio hoping for a speedy service.

Ambience = 5. Beautiful decor that shows serious investment. Still have to come across another outlet in the stable that matches this one...

Food = 5. Extensive menu that boasts varied dishes to cater for anyone despite its pizza reputation. Settled on Oriental salad after a recommendation from the waitron. Beautiful, fulfilling dish!

Wine list = 3.5. A representative list. You can tell they know what sells and have stuck with the firm favourites for the market. Settled on a glass of Pierre Jordan Tranquille, which is light and refreshing.

Service = 2.5. Just there, nothing to write home about .

Well, left somehow fulfilled. That salad will keep me coming back here.

Super pleasant place for pizza or a milkshake. I haven't sampled much of the menu, but the Regina pizza was perfect balance of crispy base to tomatoe sauce and cheesy toppings. The environment is cosy, and inviting, the staff are awake and attentive.

Bad service diminishes experience.

To be honest - the food is really tasty and well made but (on more than one occasion) the service leaves a very bad taste in your mouth. The attitude of the staff definitely has an impact on the patrons experience and all i got was: Why are you here? and what do you want? It really peeves me when restaurants don't acknowledge that good (even decent) service is imperative to any venture succeeding.

If you have patience of steel do yourself a favour and try the half&half Sedriano Pizza - REALLY GOOD!!!
Jooeek1993
Absolutely horrendous service. Made an order for delivery. Waited an hour before I made the first phone call and was told he's "near by, and will be there shortly". Another hour goes by (and 3 more phone calls) before I get the pizza delivered. That's a total of TWO hours to be delivered somewhere 3 km away.
Unbelievable. Never ordering from this place again, that's for sure!

I love taking my boys once a month for dinner for a pizza here at Col'Cacchio!! The food has always been excellent. We enjoy the staff & they have been hugely accommodating to the boys (6&4). Kids get dough/ cutters etc - easy to enjoy a glass of wine while the kids play & draw.
KarmaZebra
I actually think the food was quite good but the staff were so unfriendly, poorly trained and rude that it left a bad taste in my mouth. There are a myriad of better choices if you are in Hyde Park; and plenty other Col'Cacchio branches if that's what you are after. Certainly won't be back or recommending this one though.

Celebrated with a group of friends here for a birthday. We were quite a large group, and we just rocked up one evening after chilling upstairs. In spite of this, we didn't wait too long for the food and it was good. Pizza is fresh, and a beautiful blend of flavours.

Such a great place to sit and chill on a Friday afternoon. The pizza was great, the pasta was great, the service was great - everything was great. Except the Banting cheesecake! OMG! The cheesecake was awesome!

This is an update on my initial review from almost a year ago.

We decided to get dinner at Hyde Park after watching a movie. We decided to tryout Col Cacchios as this is one of our favorite chains. Apart from the delicious salads we had (Asian citrus and Brocolo salads) we were also impressed by the great service from our waiter. I originally down rated this outlet due to the poor Cold War style service, however we were impressed by the noticeable implement this time. Our waiter even had a good knowledge of the wine list and recommended a good wine to try next time. Definitely will be back for the great food (& service)

------------------
This rating is based on poor service, despite the great food. Col'Cacchio's franchise is a good staple Italian restaurant outlet with delicious pizza options and unusual combinations. We tried this outlet for dinner before catching a movie. My partner had the orange and chicken salad and I had a crispy tropical pizza. The food was very tasty, however our experience was dampened by our waitress who was seemingly uninterested and aloof. As a result the service was bare bones and we got the feeling she was just after another economic transaction and a tip. Paying felt like a Cold War prisoner exchange - with silent looks and stiff upper lips when transferring the prisoner of war to pay the bill. Sadly although our food was very tasty (all thanks to the kitchen staff's great effort and care), I'm not sure I'll be back in a hurry if the service stays poor

Pizza was average but the low rating not due to the food.
I wanted to take away a pizza and chose an item. Before handing me the slip the waiter thought it would be best to joke about the price of the pizza saying repeatedly it was R150. Not amusing. Then I told him I would pay using Zapper. The payment was processing although taking a long time but he insisted on asking me twice if it had gone through to which I replied that I would pay in cash if it didn't. While waiting I enquired whether I could have the bottle of water on the table, assuming it was free. He replied "no you can't, it's R30." Seems odd that a R30 bottle of 750 ml water is placed on every table considering most people will drink t assuming it is complimentary. Best warn people about that.
Consistently good food, good service and nice atmosphere. The cauliflower pizzas are good, although for the price a tad small, and the boiled egg and salad doesn't do it for me. The rest of the food is good however and will be back.

Great, authentic pizza. Great topping combos and I have had mostly good service. However, when you're ordering a pizza to go, the waiters tend to be short off and dismissive. Obviously one does not expect to be waited in hand and foot, because they have bigger tables, but a little friendliness and patience goes a long way. This was not an isolated incident, it happened on at least 3 separate occasions with different waiters. It isn't enough to keep me from eating there though, plus I get a kick out of the name >

Been a couple of times. Seems to blow hot and cold, depending who the manager on duty is that night. The staff seem disinterested and stand around the entrance all chatting. I had a pizza, which to say best was very average. What I will say is, I asked to have some avo on my pizza and I got a healthy portion. If I compare the Hyde Park branch to others, they have a lot to improve on.

When you're craving pizza, then Colcacchios is an obvious place to go. Interesting topping combinations, thin bases and half and half pizzas are the main reasons I like Colcacchios. The service was very good and very friendly... Full marks there. I don't think Hyde Park has a fire pizza oven which does leave the pizzas lacking that smokiness. And they do all wines by the glass 🍷 so no compromise on wine quality choice...

Have been dying to try their banting pizza after hearing only good things about it. Ordered the cauliflower base with salami, cherry tomatoes, sesame seeds and avo, to share with a friend. It comes with a small side salad with boiled egg and a pecorino dressing. Lovely combination! And extremely filling. We juuuuuust managed to finish the meal, between the two of us.
Decor is warm and comfy. Situated in Hyde Park shopping center, there is an 'outside' section in the walkway of the mall and a smaller, consider section inside.

Pizza not bad, the horrendous service though left a bad taste on my mouth. I was so afraid that they might have spit in my take away I threw it in the trash on my way out...pity 😕
Michelle Jacqueline Schoultz
The food was absolutely delicious! Probably had the best pizza I have ever tasted and not to mention the the yummy desert! The service was brilliant, no complaints there at all. I love that everyone was friendly too. Fantastic all around! I recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting an Italian experience out of Italy.

Despite being a restaurant chain, Col Cacchio has managed to keep the individual flavour of their restaurants without your dining experience ending up feeling like a fast food joint. For example, I’ve always felt that their branch in the Blue Bird Shopping Centre has quite a trendy vibe while others of their branches – for example the one in Hyde Park – has always felt very chilled and relaxed. And this is what was going though my mind this past week…

Pizza won't let you down at Col'cacchio's - but boy I miss the original (& 1st) in Bryanston on Main which was opposite DiData campus. Those wafer thin pizzas with funky combos' were fantastic. Alas it's gone and with it comes the proliferation of the franchise model. Hard to keep up those standards...

I find the Col'Cacchio Pizzeria to have the DELICIOUS pizzas I ever had. I also went to another Col'Caccio pizzeria and was also very good. My dad also thought it was delicious. Their chocolate milkshakes are too nice not to try. They make their restaurant very nice too . I am definitely going there again.

Col Cacchio never disappoints when looking for a quick bite. The pizza is always fresh and well made, with a generous amount of toppings and veg options. We often go for either the romagnola or the autunno which are both absolutely delicious. They have introduced an array of new banting options which I will certainly be trying soon. We never leave Col Cacchio without having the chocolate panna cotta which is outstanding!
Lia Marus
I always admire the Col Cacchio chain for maintaining a very innovative menu. Their prices are reasonable and their quality is excellent. My husband and I frequent the Hyde Park branch and we've always found their staff to be efficient and friendly - even at the busiest of times. My only criticism would be the size of their desserts: these are excellent and really appeal to my sweet tooth nut I've always found them to be too small!

Simple and quiet atmosphere to accompany awesome pizzas!!! Had the Salmon and Rocket pizza for the first time and must say it was amazing. Friendly service to top it off!!!
Joash Narainsamy
Love the pizza here, especially for their clever taste combinations and wood fired cooking method. Try their mogul pizza or bunny chow pizza, both have a unique take on Indian flavors.

The Hyde Park Col'Cacchios is, in my opinion, the best Col'Cacchios in Joburg. Their pizzas are always excellent and the toppings are always very generous. The new management at the store is certainly working. We frequently have their pizza, either as a take away or a sit down and in either case they are great. As a sit down, the restaurant can sometimes be a bit quiet, but if you opt for one of their booth table options you will hardly notice. On the plus side, the restaurant caters well for big groups and you can generally get a reservation.

The Col'Cacchio menu is great for vegetarians and offers a lot of variety and really delicious pizzas.
Ashley Truscott
Delicious pizzas. We ordered two to share and they gave us their half-and-half option without us even asking. Berry crumble and ice cream dessert was to do for.
Karen Heese
Okay experience overall. Good decor, friendly service (family friendly with pizza dough and crayons) but generally mediocre pizzas. Healthy pizza with salad in the middle a nice light option but my daughter complained that her pizza had "rotten" bananas. Unlikely to return.
The Food Musketeer
Been to various branches of col'cacchio. Unfortunately i am not a huge fan i find there pizzas are very scarce with their toppings for the price. There prawn one was nice except 1 prawn per slice doesnt do it for me.... as their is alot of empty space to fill (",) did like this healthy take on a pizza with salad

Had dinner for 2 at the Hyde Park Col Cacchio last night and it was great. The decor and vibe are awesome, with the booths giving that nice bit of privacy. The service was impeccable. We tried the apple & ginger crush (mocktail) as well as the Nutella hot chocolate for drinks and both were a delicious treat I've not seen anywhere else. The food at Col Cacchio has never disappointed, including the fresh and interesting salads. It was a good night out and we left happy.

I was looking for a place to eat in Hyde Park before a movie, everywhere else seemed too expensive to eat in a hurry- Col' Cacchio was the best option. We told them we were in a rush to get to the movie and the food arrived exactly on time, we even had time to spare. The service was excellent.

I ordered the Sedriano 99 Pizza- it was delicious. The sesame seeds added an amazing taste to the pizza; I will definitely order it again. My boyfriend ordered the gnocchi with Arabiatta, the sauce tasted yum but the gnocchi was a bit over cooked.

Will be back :)

My family and I are regulars at this Hyde Park branch. There's a wide selection of vegetarian options (which is refreshing since most restaurants have limited options that aren't made particularly well) that are delicious! Pizzas are yummy, salads are generous with fresh ingredients, drinks menu is also varied (great virgin cocktail selection) and the desserts are superb. Service is usually pretty good, although had a major mess up with their Half-Price Mondays. An all round good choice and value for money!
ZaaKira Moola
The pizza is great! Thin and crispy and they aren't shy with the toppings. Pocket friendly too. I usually go for a magherita pizza and add a few toppings. The service is good and they have a Banting friendly menu and gluten and wheat free options if that's your thing.
Sisanda Maqubela
I thought I should try it out to see whats the fuss about the best pizza in town award. Theres a nice variety of all sorts of toppings, I was just not impressed when the pizza finally came the taste just did not live up to the hype. Waiters were not all in uniform I didn't know who worked there and didn't. I'll try it one more time soon but this is where I stand for now.
Sally Downie
Great service, lovely atmosphere - one of my favorite chilled dining places - fruity sangria is fab ! Pizza with salad in middle is fun, creative and healthy (well better than a whole pizza :)).. Great portion sizes - variety of pizza toppings & great pastas that are not the 'norm'- try it you won't be disappointed.
Jodi
I love coming here for dinner. We have only had good experiences here. The staff are friendly and the service is very good. The pizzas are my favourite pizzas! They always seem to taste better than I remember. I'm a fan of the more traditional pizzas so my favourite on the menu is the ham, cheese and pinapple. It's so delicious!!!

The pastas are just as good. The bacon and pea pasta is a favourite as well as the Manzo ragu. This is a pasta with shredded beef. My husband absolutely loves this pasta! I have also tried the prawn pasta and it was delicious.

The wine list is something to admire. It has a bit of everything and something for everyone. We tried the italian wine selection when we went there last. The wine is very reasonably priced! The cocktails are also delicious for those cocktail lovers!

The dessert is also just as tasty! We often order the brownies to share. It is so delicious.

If you are looking for a relaxed evening then head this way!

Visited the recently opened branch at Hyde Park a few weeks back on a Saturday evening and loved the outside area, which was airy despite it being quite busy.

We ordered a selection of pasta's and pizza's between our group. Our waiter was very helpful advising on what to try.

A friend ordered the butternut gnocchi, to which the waiter queried if she had tried it at Col'Cacchio's before and advised her to try with a additional sauce as other patrons had complained.

The desert was the cherry on the top. We tried the trio of Lindt deserts which are the perfect size to appease the sweet craving but not make feel guilty. The selection was a chocolate brownie, panacotta and cheese cake.

I will be visiting the pizzeria again.
