Review Munch Cafe - Sandton

Barend Pretorius
First Wolfy review experience has been quite a pleasant one. The prices are well aligned with the quality of the meals and the coffee is a deep roast with a nice aroma. Ordered the eggs Benedict for comparison and it's a 7/10, wishing they had a bit more sauce on it. The other meal was a trio flapjacts with bacon and was also well received. I wil gladly try this shop again and next time try the lunch menu.

I've always thought of Kramerville as the middle child of Johannesburg. We know it's there but no one actually takes the time to find out what this place is about and what gems it hides... So I was pleasantly surprised when I was in the vicinity and it was the only lunch spot suggested by Google in the area. Loved the salmon salad and had their craft ciders. It's a really chilled, laid back restaurant that serves wonderful food. The restaurant itself is inside a shop that sells some of the most beautiful rugs and curtains I've ver seen. So while munching away at your food, you can get some design inspiration for your dream home. Love it!!!! If I ever find myself in that part of the world again, I'll most def be visiting this place.

The place has great food, space is cool and chilled. Its a really pleasant place to go. I go there regularly myself. The place could be managed a lil better though. I once got a dish with butternut in it(we all know how sensitive butternut and pumpkin are in summer) and I was ill the next day cause the butternut was off. I told the manager(at that time, dont know if he's still there), " Your dish made me a lil sick, I suspect the butternut was off" and he said " Oh is it?". Rude AF. Sit down is also much better than delivery cause not only do they sometimes take their time but deliveries are clumsy. Sometimes no serviette, sometimes no cutlery and sometimes no sauces. It was only after my boss suggested stye should give sachets of tomato sauce did they start giving them out with take outs/deliveries. As I type this, I ordered a small pizza an hour and 15mins ago and it still hasn't arrived. I called and no one knows what my order was. On a good day, they deliver within 35mins. Like I said, the place could do with a lil more improved management. My fav dishes are their pizzas and their mushroom burger is the bizniz.

It's a new credit looking venue but the food is below average for what you pay and the location . Definite room for improvement in the kitchen and menu . I would also expect some more healthy options like veggies, salads and smoothies . I would like to see the restaurant match the decor of the interior decor venue

We've been looking for our go-to cosy breakfast spot that serves quality food and has excellent service, ever since we moved to Jhb. I think we have found it.

Had a lovely lunch here after shopping for furniture. The food was fresh and tasty. Yum. The setting and vibe is very trendy.

A really nice stop when you are tired from all the shopping in the area. A pretty limited menu, but the scones and muffins are great.

Food was good service was chilled only thing I would like is better Wifi not very ideal for someone that needs to get some work sorted but would use this place as a nice tinder date place to go

Pleasant service & decent coffee. The food looks decent. I might return here. The set up is good & is a spot to consider for a quick break or meeting.

Much is normally great, but today I tried the crispy chicken salad and was very disappointed. The price for that salad can't be justified! Plain Jane!

Settled in the heart of Kramerville surrounded by a creative hub of interior design companies, it is a nice change from the retail world. The decor has a natural look inspired by nature. I thoroughly enjoyed their breakfast pizza.

Nestled away in the upper corner of Kramerville this little gem allows for an intimate space to meet with that special someone or a stop off spot if you are shopping for furniture in the surrounding area.Friendly staff, good coffee and the best rye bread I have tasted this side of town!

I've eaten here a few times and the food has never left me dissapointed. After receiving top service from the below upholstery showroom at Hertex I decided to grab a slice of cake. Although I'm not a sweet tooth Munch had a way of making a cake taste rather delicious. I recommend a tasting to anyone passing one of their branches.

Everything took incredibly long in this place. We waited for about 45 mins for food. They have only 2 steak knives in the whole restaurant... really weird.
Anyway... I had breakfast here: a red cappucino and The Usual Fry up without the eggs and toast (had extra cheese and sliced tomatoes instead). It was good. No gluten-free breads, which was a bit disappointing. Great decor. Nice view from the balcony. I could come again if I don't mind the slow service.

Nice for quick run in for lunch. Friendly helpful staff, nice simple menu. Quick service.
Chicken salad was great - fresh and light, chicken not overdone.
All in all not bad.
Would come back for a quick light lunch on the run

Whilst shopping in the new art and decor district of Johannesburg, Kramerville, we popped in for a quick lunch at Munch.

Nice location and good decor for a lunch venue. The menu appeared reasonable. I ordered the fish and chips and the Wifey had the chicken and haloumi salad. The salad was great, light with the haloumi and chicken perfectly done. My fish was two crumbed 'fish finger like things' that tasted like rubber - most probably out of a freezer and flash fried. I felt cheated...

Munch is lovely cafe nested in the design/furniture district of Kramerville, Sandton. It's a great place to escape for a cup of coffee or Saturday brunch with family.

They have a simple yet lovely, flavourful menu.
Was super impressed by this hidden gem in Kramerville. The cafe menu is good with awesome options to satisfy the healthy and the not so healthy 😁 The Eggs Benedict with asparagus is yummy and the coffee is delicious. A mention of the FANTASTIC service is a must. What wonderful waiters and waitresses! Super friendly and attentive. One of the best places for a outside summers breakfast in Sandton.

Cute little place inside Hertex. My husband and I shared a chicken mayo sandwich and a chicken burger. We substituted the beef patty for a chicken breast in the mushroom burger. I must say the burger was delicious and the chicken breast was so tender. Staff were friendly and service was quick.

It's wierd that there is no rating on this place yet, with only one review. That said, we stumbled across this place whilst out furniture shopping in Kramerville. We ordered the Mushroom burger and substituted the beef patty for chicken,as well as a toasted chicken and Mayo on rye. The sandwich was ok nothing fantastic but still a good sandwich. The burger on the other hand was just fantastic, the chicken fillet was tender and the mushroom sauce and caramelized onions are a perfect combo.

Nestled within the Kramerville design area atop (entrance inside) the Hertex Fabrics store - but not limited to their clients, is this hidden gem of a cafe.

In addition to the customer convenience:
Their food is satisfying without being too filling
and the wait staff are not nervous to make recommendations (which really is my favorite thing).

If anything else fails,
You will absolutely love the space.
But I promise you it's the full package

- great food
- gorgeous place
- secluded
- great service
- all the right sunlight
- and the most comfortable seating I've come across thus far.

*they also roast their own coffee beans, which had my mother raving about their cappuccino

All in all the most pleasant surprise :)
Will be making a note to tag along fabric hunting from now on - with a definite ulterior motive.
