Wow, wow, wow Rather Tart is just amazing in every which way! So cosy and inviting, with such an awesome vibe and thee most deliciously different sweet and savoury crepes and waffles, never mind the samosas - to absolutely die for 👌🏻
Great food and great service! Highly recommended. Also try the gourmet samosas next door also owned by the same owner.

The Staff is polite, professional and friendly. The food, the food is amazing. Love it...perfect breakfast and dessert spot. Savoury waffles are delicious.
I have been eyeing this spot for a while now and finally made it. ordered a plain waffle with honey, the good old fashioned way, can I say I LOVED it. it brought back childhood memories and I realised it's been 20 years since I had such a fan good waffle. perfectly crunchy outside and tender soft inside. you have to go try it out. the chai latte was good too, just didn't enjoy the residual spices you get in your mouth on your last sip hence the 4.

There are so many varieties of crepes and waffles on their menu, it makes me go absolutely wild!
I love their Coconut Ice Cream with any of their basic sweet crepes.
I have also had their flavoured waffles - Lemon Meringue and Cinnamon something🤦🏽♀️I've kinda forgotten the names now but they were very yummy!
I will definitely be back for some savoury treats and the Tumeric Latte. Can't wait 😊

The service and care was exceptional. The interior design and colours are beautiful. Small restaurant so try and book soon (minimal seating) and watch the closing times!! Must try!

Such a love design of the restaurant. The waiter was friendly. Its quite a busy restaurant. Loved their sweet and savoury crepes and waffles. The waffles are baked with the meat in the batter. So delicious. Can't wait to try the sweet options next time. Looks like the ice cream is limited to Vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. I hope the items on the menu with the asterisks are available next time. Its quite filling.
We satisfied our sweet tooth today by giving Rather Tart a try today.
It's a really cute place that offers waffles, crepe, quiches and a few other little items.
My boyfriend and I both had classic waffles with two big scoops of ice cream which each cost R60. The waffles are made as ordered which results in this yummy warm base with cold ice cream on top which works really well.
Only downside is that they have so many great flavours/combination on the menu but are all not available. Only the more basic ones were actually available.
Best waffles and crepes in town! :) my personal favorite is the Nutella crepe with strawberries on the side :) they also have a great selection of tarts and samosa's :) I'm definitely going to Rather Tart again! :)
Look I'm a Rather Tart stalker...I look for them at all the food markets. So I was ecstatic when they opened a store. I had my usual Nutella crepe which was delicious. Also tasted their waffle with bacon & maple syrup which was so good. Really luv the new spot!

Finally a decent waffle place..... trust me it has been a long search!
This is a lovely little...emphasis on the little place. They have quiches, tarts and waffles & crepes with a wide range of savory and sweet topping and fillings. We had the following: bacon, cheese and chive waffle and the same filling in a crepe, a bacon and maple waffle, a bacon quiche and the classic waffles with ice cream and cream. Every single thing was amazing. The waffle and perfectly crispy and the outside but light and fluffy on the inside. Exactly like European waffles.
The service is friendly and good. Do expect a bit of a wait this is a small operation that gets really busy however the staff are attentive and really work at engaging and pleasing patrons. To top everything off they serve amazing coffee, my bug bear is hot beverages that are served so hot they are not drinkable for 2O mins. Apart from everything else the heat distorts the taste. No such worries here beautifully presented at the correct temperature. Well done barista!
Our second visit to rather tart. Really enjoyed the waffles. The savoury and sweet versions are great. Light and fluffy. The chocolate decadence was good - don't prefer hot chocolate usually but I enjoyed this one.
Whenever I go to one of the Joburg food markets I used to make sure that these guys were my first stall stop.
I was beyond excited when I found out they had opened a store where I could waffles any day of the week!
Went with a group of friends on a Saturday. The seating space is pretty limited, decor wise the wall paper is my fav aspect of the space. Service was a little slow.
It was rather disappointing that they didn't have the full range of toppings for the waffles and crepes available on the day that we went. However what we did try was great, light crispy and yummy.
The savoury quiches available are also very nicely done, particularly the mushroom one.
Still my favourite spot for waffles in Joburg.
Cute little restaurant nice quiet spot for breakfast. Had the American style waffle which was good but I preferred the sweet waffles that my friends had. The nutella waffle with vanilla gelato was delish and my friends really enjoyed the coconut ice cream. Service was good as well.

This newly opened Crêpe and Waffle Bar is a great addition to the breakfast scene in Sandton!
The atmosphere takes you far away to a small cafe somewhere in France. We especially loved the painted wall and cozy pillows all over.
The food was so scrumptious that we just didn't want to leave! We started with one of their sweet waffles - strawberries, cream and ice cream with raspberry sauce on the softest waffle bed, was just to die for. After dessert, we ordered some savoury crêpes. Cranberry Jelly with Camembert and Parma Ham, Chicken and Mushroom, and Smoked Salmon with Red Onion, Cream Cheese, and Dill. And all we can say for this is... OMNOMNOM. Even their pancake mixture was delicious, it was really light and packed full of flavour!
This place is a great contrast to the cold winter. Once inside it is so warm and inviting, everyone was super friendly and all the patrons looked like they were having a great time too.
We will definitely be back for more crêpes and waffles!

Rather Tart is just amazing in every which way! They are newly opened, but they really didn't miss a beat on service, ambiance or food. The service was excellent and the setup and decor was so cosy and inviting.
They serve a selection of sweet and savory tarts, waffles and crepes. We had the most delicious nutella crepe and banana waffle accompanied by some great coffee. Rather Tart is definitely going to become a regular spot for us...
Such a lovely experience. Finest waffles this side of the city and exceptional service. The decor is lovely, warm welcoming vibes and friendly service to boot. Will surely be back.

Great atmosphere and lovely design inside! Such care taken in making sure everything is clean and looks good - very impressed. I love a good hot chocolate and this place really succeeds in making one. Their menu definitely leaves you wanting to come back for more. If you get a chance, I would recommend stopping into this hidden gem in Morningside.
This little gem is near Sandton and really good to miss the afternoon traffic while you have waffles. The prices are decent and the waffles are really amazing. I would definitely recommend this.

What an interesting venue. Great staff who serve with grace. Beautiful and delicious fair. Simple but aesthetic interior and a lovely little terrace. The centre is better because of this gem. Had a caramel crunch milkshake and it was amazing.

We've been here twice and I've gotten a takeaway once. The food has always been absolutely delicious. My favourite is the banana, caramel, and nut waffle. The waffles taste so much better than any waffle I've ever had before. I'd suggest taking the time to go in and eat the food fresh rather than getting a takeaway or getting it delivered. You can't accurately rate the food if you haven't eaten it fresh.
Quiet corner shop in a safe shopping complex. The owner works at the shop so you get good service. Food is fresh and presented well.

A small and quaint little eatery/coffee shop. Delicious food and drink on offer. I recommend the savoury waffles and pancakes. The service is very good and the prices reasonable. Perfect for lunch and a quick bite.
Hubby spoiled me for women's day and what a treat is was! Had a savoury crepe with chicken and mushroom filling and a classic waffle with ice cream and raspberry sauce. Also took home their amazing quiches for a snack. Service was absolutely amazing. everything was just on fleek! Definitely be coming back!
