Serves delicious Indian food with possibly the IPL screening on one of their television.
We visited in a group of 3. This place has ample sitting space and great food. Service is usually quick.
The Cheese Kulcha is worth a try if you are on the lookout for calories. We order yellow dal, lamb curry, aloo jeera, paneer handi and chicken starters in 3-4 visits.
Well I went to SA for one month for work assignment I my apartment was in Sandton, though a hardcore vegan guy I struggled a lot with food on my first week my colleagues made me try food from Punjabi tadka which was so bland, I stumbled upon this restro from uber eats and vallah food was super great ,for two week I ordered and tried all veg dishes they were super awesome not a single dish which I can denounce for I felt like home thanks for making my stay pleasant
This is a great place to sit down and eat food - the chicken tandoor and Naan bread is always so soft and has a lovely flavour. The Bhaja and Samoosa’s are a great starter - But it’s very easy to get full on this.
The only thing I didn’t like was when the salad was a bit wilted the one time.
Amazing food ! Very tasty and friendly staff and manager and owner ! Best mutton breyani and chicken tikka❤️ nothing on the menu is bad. Super delicious 😋
This restaurant serves delicious food and I’ll highly recommended. North tasty authentic curry very carefully prepared with lovely fresh ingredients - always good food at this restaurant. I’d also like to say that it has been recently renovated and it makes very charming dinner or lunch. Staff extremely friendly which makes it so much more pleasant. I am a big curry fan and think this is one of the better curry restaurants in Johannesburg
As far as I’m concerned this is the only good Indian restaurant in Sandton. Great ambience with nice Indian music. It’s busy, so you aren’t the only table in an empty restaurant. Crisp, fresh bhaji’s; and beautiful fresh spicy okra. All the different curries have different flavors - so no boring generic gravies. Good quality meat and generous portions. Crisp, buttery naans. Nice Masala tea too. Friendly, efficient service and a hands-on manager - this is the only place to enjoy an Indian meal in Sandton.
Been here a couple of times for biriyani, chicken tikka and curry. It is more on the expensive side, but the portions are very generous. Really good and definitely recommended!
While staying in Sandton, Jo'burg, I used to have my dinner from this place as they were the nearest Indian food outlet from my apartment complex. There were many Indian staff to manage the restaurant. The food was good, considering the fact, the restaurant is not in India.
Note: they serve a portion of rice with every dish.
Eaten in a few times, but we mostly get take aways. Just love their butter chicken. Hubby loves the lamb rogan josh and my son enjoys the chicken tikka, prepared mild. Their garlic and butter naan breads are the best. Good value and great food.
This rating is solely based on my experience of their takeaway menu. I have ordered the roti rolls on many an occasion via Uber eats or directly with this store. The phone in orders & service at this store is always very efficient. One can specify how spicy you would like the order- which is a plus. The roti rolls are delicious, portions are ample, freshly prepared, and always hot ( temperature wise) when I receive them. The menu is North Indian- quite extensive, priced similarly to other Indian restaurants
I have been here a few times now. Its mine and my partner's favourite Indian food place yet.
Best fish curry and prawn korma ! Small portions but delicious food Keamo
Fantastic service and good food make this one of the best Indian restaurants in Johannesburg. Management are always on hand and generous with small touches that make a big difference
My family's go to Indian food stop. We usually just get the takeaways. We love their Murge Malai Tikka! My tummy doesn't alway agree with most of the Indian spices, juts love their food. Big portions, tasty and always quick ...
I am a regular because the food is really yummy, the service is awesome, and the background elevator music is the norm in most Asian restaurants so who cares.
It's my go to Indian restaurant when I want comfort and I don't have time to cook my own. We usually get takeaways at least once every two weeks, so I am very familiar with the menu and can even tell when the usual Chef isn't around. Some days the food is simply exceptional, dont get me wrong I've never had a bad meal here. Its just that I have come to expect a certain standard.
We have pretty much tasted everything on the menu. Favourites are the chicken tikka, soft & tender, well spiced and smoky from the tandoor.
The Chicken breyani is delicious, well balanced and I like that it isnt heavy.
The Aaloo Mattar Gobhi, potatoes, peas and cauliflower - is proof that you don't need a dozen ingredients to make a yummy meal.
And my forever and a day favourite HOT yellow dhal fry. If made right I could live on this alone!
Chuck in a couple garlic naan and you have comfort on a plate.
Looking for Indian food in JoBurg, my colleague and me ended up at this place. Nice ambiance and courteous staff. Knowing that we're indians, the staff took additional care of us and fed us well. The food was tasty and the drinks were well made.
Recommend this place for everyone who is looking for a delicious Indian cuisine out there in Sandton, JoBurg!
Under new management as of July 2018. Took a while to get back up to scratch, but the food is now almost as good as it used to be. Quality and flavour really good! Previous review: We order Delhi very regularly - the yellow dhal fry being a staple in our house. Best version of the dish we have tasted anywhere in SA. Other veg dishes also good, good quality of ingredients, consistency and authenticity of flavouring. Veg starters are unfortunately too oily. Management always friendly and attentive, service good. Definitely one of the leading chain North Indian restaurants in Jhb and generally well priced.
Got Uber Eats from Delhi Dharbar. As usual DD never lets you down. We keep trying other Indian resturants but DD comes out tops . Well done to Uber Eats as well.

This place has stepped up its game . Stunning curries the pea paneer ( mutak) is amazing as are some other dishes ( chicken curry , korma's), yummmy, we do takeaway mostly
I love this curry place. It's our local and we've never been disappointed. They always have good and fresh curries that even our 2 and 4 year olds eat!
We wanted a quick takeaway Indian meal and so we ordered the butter chicken curry and tika masala curry with a garlic knaan. And to be honest, I've had better curries before and better fuller flavours. Although it was good, the knaan was fresh and tasty and the service was quick and efficient, I wouldn't return in a hurry.
A quick post work catch up dinner that was just so delicious I considered ordering some takeaways while seated with a full plate. We orders the lamb rogan josh, chicken korma, rice and butter naan bread to share. I cannot fault every dish that was brought to us, full of flavor and the lamb in the rogan josh was so soft it sort of just melted in your mouth.
Definitely worth a visit.
I ordered the take away chicken tikka masala, and it was delicious! Very good value for money as the portion sizes are big enough for two people. Delicious Indian cuisine- I'll definitely be back!
A nice North Indian restaurant with consistently good flavours on every visit. The restaurant is a nice cosy spot in Parkmore however if busy will require a reservation. On most occasions I would always get a spot which is great. Service is good with the traditional papadam and dip offering while reviewing the awesome menu.
Had most of the chicken, paneer or lamb dishes in the tasty korma, tikka masala, or makhnee sauces and they all quite delicious.
Tried the Chicken Korma this time which is a mild chicken curry cooked with cashew nuts. I did find it very mild considering I asked for it to be hot however if you enjoy a mild dish this is a very tasty dish as you get a nice infusion of cashews with the coconut cream with the most tender pieces of chicken. You can enjoy this dish with some traditional tawa roti or rice. Serving is adequate for one person or perhaps a bit of sharing with other dishes ordered at the table.
Masala tea was a bit average as don't think it was boiled with the spices to achieve the authentic taste but rather a powered form.
On the whole I love the place for consistency and a decent curry in Joberg.
Better than most of the Indian restaurants in India! Veg platter is simply exhaustive. Chicken chilly is highly recommended for starters.. a must try if u are in sandton.

Last Tuesday was a really cold wet and windy day- all I wanted for dinner was a good hot Indian curry. Ive eaten at Delhi Dharbar a couple times before and the food was great. This time however I opted for a takeaway- I ordered the Traditional Lamb Curry -HOT, with sambals on the side. The curry filled the spot and wasn't overwhelmingly spicy-therefore I could still taste the spices, it was delicious. Generally I'm not a big fan of rice but the big disappointment was that instead of the traditional Basmati Rice im used to being served with curries, they gave me plain WHITE RICE. It was terrible and the flavour with the curry just wasn't right-it even tasted a little stale. I hope that this was just a once off because the staff are generally very friendly and a silly thing to do that could bring the restaurant down- plain white rice just doesn't fit in an Indian eatery.
Thursday was a cool day and all that I wanted for lunch was curry so I convinced my friends at work to come with me for lunch to Delhi Dharbar. I have been there twice before, years ago. The first time was not great but the second was really good so I was not sure what was in store for us this time. We were pressed for time so we ordered quickly. We shared the butter chicken and paneer tikka masala with garlic naan. Our food was served quickly and both dishes were great in flavour and hot just like we wanted it. The naans were really good and better than most other Indian restaurants in Joburg.
Great Indian food(hot/medium hot-spicyness tags😜). Try Chicken Tandoori served with Indian bread- best of lot. Ambience 7/10. Service:8/10, Quality:8/10.
My favourite Indian restaurant. Food is full of many flavours. Wonderful atmosphere with friendly staff. Recommend naan with fruit and nuts - delicious and different
We are regular orderers for pick up. Our favourite is the Palak Panner (a spicy creamed spinach with paneer) with a garlic naan or two. Every now and then we try something new, and we've not been disappointed yet.
I first discovered the Delhi Dharbar in Hobart and it is one of those locally Northern Indian Tandoori establishments that I have come to love. However, I had some mending to fetch from a tailor nearby in Parkmore the other evening and as such, I decided to collect some takeaways en route and try the Parkmore outlet out. I ordered the Lamb Curry (lamb cooked in traditional gravy with potatoes) and thus began the wait...
Although this Parkmore outlet is not quite as pretty or quaint as its Hobart Grove partner (with its outside pretty balcony and colourful fairy lights), the quality of food is just the same as the one I have come to love near me in Bryanston and the prices are the same.
*Recommendation: To avoid waiting as long as I did for takeaways, call in your order and then collect.

Delhi Dharbar is a good quality, authentic restaurant serving North Indian cuisine. I have never had a bad meal, or experience whether take away or in the restaurant. I love their lamb dishes whether is it roganjosh or madras; chicken tikka masala and butter garlic naan. They could improve on the tables, the decor and the appearance of the waiters, nonetheless their service are always good.
Best Indian food in Joburg without a doubt. We've made an effort to try different restaurants and this is hands down the best tasting and most value for money!
Authentic Indian food that tastes quite close to food back in India. The waiters are quite pleasing, but the service often is a bit slow. Overall, this place always lives upto expectation and is always crowded with patrons.
This is our round the corner Indian restaurant. Food never disappoints. Their lunch specials are really good. Bunny's and roti rolls are made with boneless meat and is packed with flavour. Butter chicken is delicious. Perfect spot to get fresh rotis when you too lazy to make
Decent Indian food in sandton. The place is not very fancy and the service could be better. Their chapatis are good. I would still prefer Thava in Norwood given the choice. If time is an issue, I can have it here
Just had one of the best lamb vindaloo curries ever. Really hot, but so good. Tikka chicken with lamb and chicken samosas for starters. Good service, better food.
I really enjoy my Friday night curry be it eat in or take away. Quality is great, service is fast and efficient. Great value for money. Not those really heavy thick curries you find at some other Local Indian restaurants that all taste the same. If you are a Brit you will feel quite at home with this Indian restaurant.
I really enjoyed the evening at Dheli Dharbar. We had a three course meal, taste and flavour of the food was amazing. Great service all round, i felt like i was in India.
Decent Indian food joint in Sandton area. Considering the lack of Indian food options around this area have to praise this place for providing Indian food. Could improve their dessert selection. Butter chicken leaves the colours in hand. I think any colouring agents added in any cuisine by any restaurant is killing its customers.
Went there for a meal with my digsmates last night.
I must say that for a random Wednesday night, the place was very well attended.
I went for the butter chicken and a garlic naan bread, as per the recommendation from my secretary at work.
I had intended to take some home to have for lunch the next day, but alas there was nothing remaining in my bowl at the end of the night.
Thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and I thought the service was very good.
My only criticism was that my curry could have been a tad spicier. I always tend to order a "medium" curry whenever I go out, but my curry was on the mild side of mild. Besides that, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will go back again.
I just love this place. I find all the cricketers signatures all over the wall.We have ordered chicken kadhai and chicken jalfraji with chilli garlic nan. Both the dishes are yummy, mouth watering. I must advised to go this place once.
The food at Delhi Dharbar, both in Benmore and Bryanston, is very nice. From a takeaway perspective, I'd give them at least a 4 but the actual restaurant lacks a bit of atmosphere and the service, while far from bad, isn't particularly special. It's a simple sort of place, somewhat lacking on the finer points, but with quality Indian food.
Delhi Dharbar is definitely a good quality, authentic restaurant serving quality North Indian cuisine. I have never had a bad meal, whether take away or in the restaurant. I love their dhal makhani, Palak Paneer, Chana masala, chicken tikka masala and butter garlic naan :)
Eating at the restaurant is also a good experience. Service is good too. Perhaps they could improve the ambience and definitely music.
Definitely not a favourite for many on a romantic dinner out. They could improve on the tables, the decor and the appearance of the waiters. But they are still so busy, so this may not be a necessary next step! Its more of a go to place when food is high on priority :)
My boyfriend felt like Indian cuisine last night, so while searching through Zomato I stumbled across 'Delhi Dharbar' and we decided to give it a try - mainly because of how it close it was to where we were. But man oh man, what a gem of a find!
If there's one thing I've discovered about the Indians, it's their hospitality and outstanding service that just knocks others out the park! We were shown to our table and waited on hand-and-foot from that moment on - by various staff (who your actual waitron is never seems to be as important as making sure you have everything you want - I love that!)
My biggest rave of the evening though has to be my traditional lamb curry. I often feel like Indian's don't quite understand mild (at least not my kind of mild), and while I can appreciate a little zing, when my mouth is burning so badly that I can't even taste what I'm eating, I lose all appreciation for the food. Curry is fascinating to me because I truly believe that pulling off a good one is an art, and the very reason I enjoy it so much is being able to taste all it's incredible flavours! Well, last night's chef nailed it! It was absolutely delicious! It really was mild, the lamb was so tender, and as for the sauce, whatever went into it was a heavenly combination. Both our curries came with rice and we ordered some naan bread on the side. Needles to say, we felt like we had to roll out of there.
But it couldn't have been more worth it! We felt so welcomed and appreciated throughout the evening. From the cosy, traditional, home-feel setting, to the perfect hospitality and the exceptional food - this little restaurant is an all-round win! And at the risk of a cliché, it really was the best curry I've ever had! I'm not sure how my boyfriend is going get me to try anything else.
Legend has it that this is where the Indian cricket team grabs dinner when they're in town. Reliably delicious North Indian food and snappy service. Their lamb rogan josh and paneer dishes are fab.
Had a great evening at the Hobart Shopping Centre restaurant, NOT Parkmore (have not been there). The kids had lamb bunny chows which were very tasty. They have a fabulous variety for vegetarians and non-veggies. We had Butter Chicken, Lamb Madras, which was great, and the Lamb Tikka Masala. The waitress was good, service prompt and efficient, with basic décor. Will go back. Their take-aways are also good.

Perfect local Indian spot. Stumbled here on a Friday night because we were to lazy to cook or to drive out the area. It's an ideal restaurant for a relaxed family evening. There's nothing fancy about it but it's food hits the mark. Real authentic Indian food at an affordable price. I'd highly recommend their butter chicken or lamb rogan Josh.
I love this place. Looks suitably dodgy but the food is divine. The Indian cricket team always visit this restaurant when they're here. They've autographed the walls of you'd like to check. Amongst a well stocked bar, they have Cobra beer which is designed by an Englishman who lived in india specifically to be enjoyed with curries. I've never had a bad meal hrre and they have a good lot of options as far as pricing is concerned
One of my fav Indian restaurant in Jozi. Pretty good spicy food at nominal price and the service was prompt and courteous. Will definitely visit again on my next trip.
Delhi Dharbar is by far the best restaurant serving Indian cuisine. The restaurant is small, well decorated and the service is exceptional .
My friends and I came to this delightful restaurant for dinner tonight.
What a gem of a restaurant! I had the eggplant (baingan bharta) dish which was absolutely sensational! My friends had the chicken tikka masala which I had a taste too and it was just as good too. Although I had a slight issue with their "hotness" scale. I had my dish medium hotness but yet it was in my opinion was mild.
Service was prompt and courteous and without a fault.
Definitely a worthwhile visit!
One important point to note is that the address listed here on Zomato is in error as this restaurant is now located at the Hobart Shopping Centre, Bryanston and not at Parkmore. According to my friends the previous name of the restaurant used to be called Taj Mahal as was evident in the welcome mat at the entrance. I presumed that Dehli Dharbar has now taken ownership of this restaurant now.
I visited Delhi Dharbar for a work function, and at first I was pessimistic, because I am not fond of hot food. However, my fears where soon replaced with optimism after having tried both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian starters.
The food at Delhi Dharbar is fantastic, and I will say that it is arguably the best Indian cuisine I have had in Johannesburg to date. The menu has all the North Indian favourites, and the chicken korma I had was exquisite. I was also pleased that the dessert menu featured traditional Indian items, which are a rarety.
Delhi Dharbar must also be commended on their superb coffee, and excellent service. The staff members who attended to us where all friendly, and looked after us.
Good service and authentic balanced and wonderful notes of flavour. Good value for money. The chairs could be a little more comfy by i think i am just nit poicking now. Give it a go.....
Delhi Dharbar is a really great Indian restaurant and is awesome for take-always. The food is really tasty and authentic - definitely worth a try!
Very good authentic lamb curry. Good variety curry options and reasonbly priced wine list. Roti was fresh and delicious.
Delhi Dharbar is definitely a good quality restaurant in terms of the quality of food. I have never had a bad meal, mostly take away. I love their dhal makhani and romali roti :) As I write this, I crave it.
I have had the pleasure of also eating at an event that they catered for. Indeed, the food was the best at this event. Perhaps because of their focus on the specific meals.
Eating at the restaurant itself: Perhaps they could improve the ambience. Definitely not a favourite for many on a romantic dinner out. They could improve on the tables, the decor and the appearance of the waiters. But they are still so busy, so this may not a necessary next step!
All I can say is a very good curry restaurant with good service.
The decor for me is a bit sombre.
This is not one of the fanciest Indian restaurants you will go to, but the setting is cosy, and the food will always make you lick your fingers and smile. This is my long running favorite Friday night take away restaurants. I have ordered the chicken tikka masala often and it is always more delicious than my all day craving remembered. And their service is also fantastic. I catered for a small family birthday through them last year, and they even lent me catering equipment.
Absolutely love this place for Indian!! Take away or sit down
I had quite an interesting foodie experience at Delhi Darbar and they came out pretty damn good. It's an impressive Indian food spot and definitely worth a visit.
My experience started with a bunch of guys being very hungry after a night out. We were also craving Indian food and quite stupidly, there was a reservation made for another restaurant for lunch. Sadly, this was in an hour and a half and we needed food. So we got here as they opened and explained that we need the food really quickly. We were a relatively large party so they knew they should sort us out instead of telling us they can't do it.
So we ordered Lamb Vindaloo, Dhall Makhini, a chicken dish (which has slipped my mind) and an assortment of paratha. They needed to get this to us in 15 minutes else we would walk out. We also had very high expectations which we made quite clear.
Low and behold, they delivered. The food was out in record time even though the kitchen just opened and the smell wafting through promised us that this would be good. And my gosh, the food was excellent. The lamb was perfectly cooked but the dhall really stole the show. Even the paratha was soft and flavoursome. We devoured this food in record time. Every single one of us was satisfied.
I was impressed. I've heard a lot of people go on about this place and it's well-deserved. Even under a lot of pressure, they delivered and delivered well. I do look forward to my next visit.
Authentic Indian food, well priced, brilliant service, delicious & tasty meals :)
