Review Thief Restaurant - Sandton

Great restaurant, great decor and a good vibe. I can highly recommend the prawn bisque starter, the pork belly main and the malva pudding for dessert. The fillet steak main was the only dish that wasn't quite up to scratch otherwise I would give it five stars.

What a great find! They have a stunning wine selection and the food was amazing! Intimate little setting which would require a booking for weekends. The manager was very friendly and it clearly filtered through to the staff’s service. This little gem should definitely be on your list of Sandton restaurants to visit - at least once!

Great restaurant with a menu that gets to the point. Had the signature dish, a Belgian style mussel bowl with chips... Outstanding. Our host gave us great options on the wine too. I'll have to go back and try my other choices from the menu

Short menu, good selection of wine and gin. Bit quieter than expected on a Saturday, but Thursday and Fridays are apparently super busy.

I highly recommend Thief Restaurant! The food is excellent and you can taste and see the love that went into the preparation of the dishes. An exceptional wine list with new and unusual wines that you would surely not have had before. Great service. All and all a very pleasurable experience!

Really enjoy dining here, food and service are great. We really enjoyed wine recommendations too! They have a "nip of the day" which is a less mainstream bottle of wine they open and sell by the glass- a great way to try something new!

I visited Thief with a Dine4Six outing with a set menu. My meal was fantastic throughout (though others at the table were not as happy with their choices). The prawn bisque has a great depth of flavour with a delicious chili bite. The herbed pork roll was fantastic! Flavour and texture combos. Succulent meat with crunchy crackling in a puffy flat bread. Huge portion! The deconstructed butterscotch shortbread apple crumble was a great way to end the meal. Light and tasty...not heavy and sweet. Portion sizes are generous. Flavour combinations are creative but grounded. They have a huge wine list. The decor is minimalist industrial with a wine theme throughout. The cavernous space does lack decent acoustics for table conversation. It can get very noisy. Servers were attentive and friendly but delivery of food was extremely slow!

Such a delightful little restaurant. We spent a lovely evening here sampling some of the delicacies from their carefully selected menu. It's got a relaxed but down to earth feel to the place. The staff were attentive, and the restaurant is obviously run by someone who is passionate about good food and wine. We will definitely visit again.
