Dining with a view and waiting for the sun to set
The cocktails were delicious and the service was good. The only negative was that we were treated disrespectfully by other guests and the waiter did not do anything about it, but that is not the restaurants fault.

Great place to unwind on a Sunday. Chilled vibe. However, they didn't have enough umbrella's outside so we had to sit inside for a while. Other than that, I enjoyed their food and our waiter was very friendly and kept checking on us.
13.11.2018 Drinks, a catchup and a sunset. Definitely whats needed after work as we head towards silly season. Lovely outside deck. Great views and cocktails. I didnt check the food menu, will definitely consider coming back here as i honestly didnt know about this deck bar. Really nice and spacious outdoors.

Amazing view! Great drinks! Good Vibes! Nice fire pits for cold evenings. Their Gin cocktails are awesome. A bit pricy but definitely an outing worth budgeting for.
I’m a regular here. I love the chilled atmosphere, the amazing staff and the extensive wine and champagne menu. The food is good, and a plus is you can watch the sunset and once it’s a little chilly grab a bean bag chair and sit around the bond fire!
I’m a big fan of the San bar...they offer a lovely outdoor setting with gorgeous views of Sandton. I went on a Saturday night just for drinks. They have an adequate drinks menu. The vibe outside is awesome in summer.
Great atmosphere! Foods very delicate and fresh. I had the duck and pear for starters, lamb shank for mains which were both very delicious! Then had chai cheese cake for dessert which I didn't like. It tasted more like jelly than cheese cake with no chai.
Great hangout spot for after work drinks on a Friday night. It was very busy when I went there but luckily there was a table available.
Order a few nibbles from the light menu, delicious and fresh. Prices are a bit steep but it's worth the experience.
Service from our waiter was good. He was very entertaining, just can't recall his name.
This is a watering hole for something classy, comfortable and with a lovely sun set for an afternoon/evening outdoors. Beautiful seating area and massive fire place alongside a circlular pool area. Great for a couple or even to host a few guests for drinks - I wasn't totally thrilled about the snacks but great spot for sun downers!
Arranged to have my 30th here. Had an excellent experience. I had booked platters and wine. All my guests had complements for the food and service.

If you looking for great roof top vibes than this is definitely the place to be, get a 180 degree view of the best part of Sandton, while sitting next to gas fires and popping a nice bottle of wine/champagne then the San Bar is definitely the place you looking for.
First I'd just like to comment on how impeccable their taste in our door decor and landscaping is. It's not often that an out door bar is so well maintained. Very impressive.
Had such a lovely evening here. For 20+ people our server was a champion he was so accommodating when it came to paying the bill and adding it all up. Although the service was a bit slow (due to the busy-ness of the bar) he kept on top of all of our orders and we were all highly satisfied!
Would definitely recommend the San deck as a must do for sundowners!
Perfect place for sundowners! The view is stunning and the atmosphere is very vibey yet relaxing. Drinks are on the pricey side and service is sometimes frustratingly slow ..... but that view !!!!
Have had a few work functions here. Quite a pretty deck. Very cool view of Sandton. Good place to chill for casual work drinks. The platters we usual have here have a lot of variety. Also love the fried biltong.

This has always been one of my favourite places to go to and share with friends especially those from out of town, however last night's visit was not so memorable. We were forced to place our orders at the bar because it was already 11pm and apparently the last round. At 1pm the bar was still open and drinks were still being served. I found that rude and unprofessional. Nevertheless still remains a fav. Hoping that the service doesn't ruin it going forward.

The San Bar is a beautiful rooftop restaurant/bar in the heart of Sandton. You could not ask for a better location for an afternoon lunch or some sundowners. I've only been here for drinks and was really impressed, and would definitely be heading back soon! Brenna Weaver
Relaxing and sophisticated. They didn't have our wine choice but we're very accommodating with a second... great venue with good service. Christiaan Strydom and I had a lovely afternoon.
The location of the San Bar is amazing; probably its best feature. We were just there for drinks so we ordered wine and some of their cheese platters. Cheeses were varied and nicely presented. Can get quite busy there and also noisy, so not the best choice if you wanted a quieter place for drinks.
As if the relaxing holiday feel one gets from sitting on the beautiful deck isn't enough to lure you in, the food is exceptional too. The service is inviting. The whole experience is a must. I ate the bunny chow which was really tasty and served beautifully.
This popular lounge bar is located in the luxury Sandton Sun Hotel. An iconic 5 star property synonymous with class and sophistication, the space is located in the impressive atrium, spanning over 10 floors.
Aside from the extensive drinks menu, there is an all day a la carte food selection available too. We had some sandwiches, which were huge and quite tasty. Be prepared as their wine prices are quite steep, but they have a good selection.
The atmosphere is laid back and service tends to be efficient.

So only ever been here for some drinks and snacks. Considering that it's quite upmarket, the prices are not astronomical. Absolutely beautiful setting and also very comfortable in the winter- they set up their heaters and very edgy fire places. Also, try their cooked biltong with your drink. My one little critiscm is that the hostess isn't very friendly nor accommodating...otherwise beautiful place.
Sandbar is one of the few places that is well situated in the heart of sandton, that caters for an upmarket experience of drinks and or dinner with a lovely view and not extremely over the top prices. It's still hotel prices but by no means a complete rip off.
It has lovely fire pits that are lit in winter to keep you warm and the service is phenomenal with friendly waiters always there just when you need them.
The wine collection is rather extensive and will not leave you longing for a decent bottle unknown.
I would recommend sun downers at this lovely spot in order to get the full appreciation of its location.
The views and the ambiance are great - even in winter! The fires on the patio are practical and beautiful especially in big group settings.
I find the food to be very average for the prices they charge, even the platters are mediocre.
I once asked for a cup of hot water and lemon and i was asked to pay R10 for it! I was a little taken aback but I paid!

The deck has stunning views of the sandton skyline and the outside bonfires keep you warm in winter! I loved the Rattan swinging egg chairs that I made sure I bought for my pool patio at home! This place has a great vibe almost every night of the week and its even better in summer when they have a saxophonist in the background. It is easy to be transformed into another realm...
The food is incosistent but you would need to know what to order. The cocktails are not cheap but very tasty!
If you hang out in the bar first, they make sure they give you lots of nuts to ensure that you remain very thirsty ;)
The platters are amazing and the menu differs from the light snack menu to the actual dinner menu - so be sure to request both to get more options as the menu is limited.

The place has a really chilled vibe. The music is very calming and accommodates everyone.
However the service here is really slow. But it's not a train smash if you're here just for the drinks.

It's my go-to , and I always have SO much fun there that they can get away with alot.
The setting is ON POINT - fire pits and fairly lights with the night sky above you.
The service - I feel like they Really try but it's always slow and clumsy - order more drinks than you need so you don't have an empty glass spoil a great evening.
The food standard is not consistent - I've had great meals and average meals - but never bad meals.
Cocktails are too sweet - Order wine or champagne , they have a great winelist.
Fabulous views - especially with a glass of something delicious to sip on (the cocktails are enticing!) The vibe is trendy during the summer, yet the food is inconsistent..

The San Bar is amazing little gem for all those who like to go out with some friends and have a chilled but enjoyable time. The San Deck offers a vast view of Sandton skyline and even in the winter the fires are up and running to keep you warm. As a photographer myself just try to sneak a picture with your DSLR when you have the chance and the sunset. The drinks are exotic and local , really versatile list of wines but the cocktails went lacking. Overall - great experience!
Over priced drinks and coffee, but your paying for the view and experience. I love coming here and just relaxing and enjoying a high quality South African sunset. The drinks and coffee are always good and well made, but you wouldn't expect anything less when the bill arrives

Amazing spot for a sundowner, with good food and really nice atmosphere.
This spot is really good for entertaining clients - local or international. The drinks menu is quite extensive and would be able to cater to quite a variety of tastes.
The food platters are well prepared and priced for the location.
The setup outside is really great and even for the colder winter nights ahead they have an amazing fire-pit (also looks quite amazing) and fire-lanterns scattered around to chase the cold away. The atmosphere is young and vibrant with just a dash of opulence.
So why only a rating of 3.5? The service - it kind of feels that if you are not some important celebrity/CEO/socialite you have to fight for the attention of the staff. Either that or you have to make sure you are a big group. It really is frustrating when you have to go find a waiter for service.
The most amazing view over Sandton, complete with heaters and fire pits. Indoors is warm and vibey, those braving the outdoors on winter nights are huddled around fires. The service is decent and they are always packed. Extensive wine and drinks list. Prices are relatively steep - but considering the clientele, international guests from the hotel and Sandton locals, plus the prime location, it is to be expected. Bar menu is good - nibbles and bites are tastefully plated and I recommend this venue for a treat night or great for entertaining guests.
I really enjoyed my line fish. It was beautiful cooked and great flavours. Its a beautiful place for sundowners with a great view. If you go on a friday it gets a bit packed so brace yourself.
Arrived early to have a cocktail as it is such a gorgeous restaurant to be asked 3 times if we were allowed to be where we were as it was reserved. It improved immensely from here,our waitress, priviledge, was lovely. Starters were mind blowing, I have never seen prawns and a tomato like that, what a taste infusion. Mains done perfectly and very flavoursome, we had salmon (cooked perfectly) and chicken (possibly the best tasting ever). Desert was a perfect. The ice cream complemented the sweet carrot cake with a goregous warm sauce. What an amazing dinner. Great job San Bar

I love San. It's super trendy and just an awesome place. Drinks are expensive, and bar snacks and light meals too but if you're looking for an upmarket venue than this is the place to go.
Definitely still my favourite spot for sundowners. Especially on a Sunday afternoon. Be sure to book in advance though as tables gets reserved early on in the day. Their staff is extremely friendly and courteous and go out of their way to make sure everyone is comfortable. I tried out a few of their cocktails but the chilli cherry crush cocktail has got to still be my favourite but the others were also just as good! Definitely worth the visit either with friends, partner or even alone to just sit, relax and admire the sunset over Sandton’s skyline whilst sipping on a cocktail.
A great upmarket restaurant with incredible views of the Sandton Skyline. Whether you go for lunch or dinner every thing on their impressive menu looks delicious and you feel like trying a bit of everything. The food we've had there has always been excellent and very tasty. Even the homemade bread with the flavoured butters and olives was great. Great food. Great views and great service.
What a beautiful restaurant! Even though it has a view out over construction. Ever since walking past this stunning place a few weeks ago, I have wanted to go eat there.
The ambience was amazing :) and the service was excellent. I had the fillet for mains and it was great, although slightly more well done than my requested medium rare.
I was not impressed with dessert. The creme brulee had a strong ginger taste and really wasn't to my taste. My friend had a delicious berry sorbet dish.
Overall it was an amazing night. I loved the decor and the service was great. The food just wasn't as great as I thought it would be.
Had a stupendous foodie experience at the San Bar. The entre of scallops paired with the wine of the night was incredibly tasty. My partner loved his main as did I, I had the chicken which was cooked absolutely succulently. The creme brûlée wasn't the best I've tried, the ginger infusion didn't agree with my pallet but the chocolate tart certainly did. The general ambiance is quite delightful and romantic so I'd definitely recommend it for a date or a special occasion. I was truly grateful for this treat.

Incredibly vibrant place to spend an evening. Beautiful setting overlooking Sandton, live music and fire pits all around. Only thing is that it is quite expensive for what it is. Wouldn't have more than two drinks, but other than that a lekker place.

The deck outdoors is pleasant weather permitting..Good music and for a tourist the comfort of indoors with pleasant music and reasonably priced wine.
It was a Thursday and the deck was packed, yet comfortable, with upbeat, chilled tunes. The ideal place for a small work celebration or decadent, after work drinks (at R80 for some glasses of wine). The snacks were tasty but not outstanding - dim sum, mini beef Prego rolls, fried halloumi, etc. A pleasant interlude between work and the next get-together.
A great location - in Sandton city, just next to the sky walk from Intercontinental hotel. An awesome ambience.... Lot of options to sit: By the bar, on the couches, proper dine-in seatings, outside with the fireplace, etc..... - and all of them equally nice. A great sun-downer location.

Beautiful venue! Booked a table for birthday celebrations and the staff ensured that a table was available inside as well in case it got too cold outside, since we were in the heart of winter. Waiter made sure that drinks were constantly running within our large group... Always a fav place...

Scores high just for location and ambience. Night or day visit equally cool. The restaurant inside is super expensive and a very good one, but only for very big occasions I've eaten there once.. You'll want to use your iPhone camera to capture the opulence and coolness of the various venues...
The San Deck is known for its exceptional views of Sandton and it doesn't disappoint! Neighboring the famous P&G building and situated in the heart of Sandton, The San Deck is magnificent.
Unfortunately that's where it ends. The service is exceptionally slow, with surely waiters whom you have to beg to help you. In winter it's freezing, even with the gorgeous pit fires. The food is fine but really expensive for what you're getting.
Overall, if you're looking for location and views for your Instagram account, The San Deck will tick all the right boxes. If you're looking for a great experience, you're better off going to one of the other hotel bars in Sandton and the surrounds.

I had a fantastic birthday celebration at San Deck bar and restaurant with my family and friends. The highlight of our evening was the delicious meat platter we ordered. The variety and quality of meats were exceptional, and everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed it. The ambiance was great, the staff was friendly and attentive, making our dining experience memorable. One of the standout features of this place is the cozy fireplace, adding to the overall warmth and charm of the venue. The best place to celebrate an event, eat, and sleep, is a very neat and safe place. The service is amazing, and the food starts at an affordable price. I love the view from the inside out .

Perfect for sun bathing in their private pool area and definitely Perfect for cocktail parties with friends overlooking the amazing view🙃 the bar snacks go well with almost every drink, the menu caters for almost everyone and the chef's always Perfect every meal. The ambience is one that will leave you wanting to be in the concrete jungle just a bit longer! Rated one of the top restaurants in Sandton city because it truly is one of the finest‼️

Definitely a FIVE STAR!
This was our first time at the San Deck and the food, drinks and ambiance were all good. The Pasta Alfredo was light and not overdone with cream as some Alfredo can be. My husband's Pepperdew Chicken Pasta was also yummy. Overall, the service was great and we can't wait to return.
Enjoyed a Friday night out with friends. I had grilled chicken with beans, fried bread, and spinach. Food taste fresh and flavourful, service was excellent.
We had our year end function there. They food was wonderful. Service was fantastic and drinks even better. It started raining and the waitress Portia immediately moved us inside to another table. Will be back again and highly recommend.

Had a lovely dinner with my colleagues at the restaurant. From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel welcome and speedily attended to our orders. The food is very delicious and comes in large portions, the desert options are just as flavorful and are made with quite a unique spin to regular desserts.
I would highly recommend the restaurant for anyone interested in a fine dining experience.

Always a vibe. Okay food but no one is really there for the food are we now, were there for thr vibe and the views. Good service. Beautiful views all around. Balcony is very therapeutic & the perfect place for the perfect picture. Always a good experience. Go to place for chill as, dates, meet up etc highly recommend.
