Review The Eatalian - Sandton

Warren Forster
The food was really delicious and the service was great. If you looking for tasty, flavourful Indian cuisine then this place is a must. I had a masala dosa and the flavours were so good, ill definitely be back. For mains I had a paneer tika masala and it was simply delicious

I'm in Sandton for a brief work stint and felt like Indian food. Took a chance and popped in here.... and very glad I did. Good service, friendly, made me feel at home (pretty home sick) and well priced.... and the Chicken Tika Masala is just beautiful and fragrant, have not yet had this good in Cape Town. I may just go get the same for "breakfast" tomorrow! Thanks guys!

Delicious food. Poppadums served as appetizers. Food is hot when order hot but yummy. Good service and decent proportions of food served. Quite popular with take away orders.

Thank you very much for your wonderful bunny chows and masala very professional and yummy 😋

Great food, good value, and good service.

Whenever I go to Sandton then at least my 1 meal during the trip is fixed there as it gives proper Indian feel through it's food and taste. My colleagues from different countries also likes Indian cuisine served by them and mainly Rajasthani Masala Bhindi

Great! Loved it. This is traditional Indian, not Woolies Indian, but I certainly recommend dinner here. Loved the layout of, and variety in the menu. Loved everything we ordered. Absolutely loved the leftovers we took home and had for lunch the next day. Loved who the chef goes out of his way to turn savoury dishes into desert. The staff were friendly. Love the gluten free items l could order and enjoy. The only thing I didn't love was the very, very, uncharacteristically small portion of traditional Indian ice-cream I was sent home with. We took cold dessert to eat at home and I was super disappointed. So 1 out of 11 was not to be loved. 4.5 out of 5 rating. 10 out of 10 will return. They have a generator so you can eat there when loadshedding is preventing you from cooking at home.

My wife and I absolutely love this restaurant. The decor and ambiance are great, but it's the food that is truly special. We have tried various dishes now and we both think it is the best Indian food we've ever had! The portions are good and the prices are reasonable - the only over-priced item is the wine by the glass (ridiculously so), but then their corkage is fair. The person who gave a bad review must have caught them on a rare bad day, because we have nothing but praise for this restaurant.

The best biriyani that you can get in Johannesburg is in this restaurant.

We ordered the chicken korma, butter chicken and lamb jogan rosh. All curries were super tasty and the lamb was the most tender lamb I've had in a curry in a very long while. Definitely worth 5 stars! PS the cheesy Naan is an absolute must. 😍👌

Orgasmic food, fantasy ambiance and superb service. The owner is absolutely charming and gives the whole experience a personal touch!

Wonderful little gem. Just off the main road, has a wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff all round and a great kitchen. The various "Chef Specials" are always a treat. They make you feel welcome here.

One of my favourite restaurants. Always have good food, wine + service. I'll be back again + again + again.......

This is probably the best restaurant I've been to in Johannesburg!! The service was absolutely excellent! The food was perfect ♡
Garth Macnab
Went for breakfast, the food was good but the service was extremely slow considering there was only 1 table with 2 people there when we arrived. When we left it was slowly filling up

First time and loved this place! Ambiance, Food and Service - Excellent.

We were a table of 19 and the service provided by Nicholas was faultless! The food was fantastic and the general atmosphere and decor of the restaurant was lovely. We will certainly be back.

Ambience was awesome and pasta that I had was delicious

Came here after a wine tasting around the corner. Food very average. Very. Chicken livers, skip...calamari in Tom sauce ok....caprese foccacia also mediocre. Mediocre all round. No reason to return really.

I'm writing this as I am thought your restaurant was so nice as it was my first time and wish this didn't happen . As I wanted to come back with my wife and bring my family but because of the waiter I won't come back. I had coffees with my friend. My bill came to R116. My second round of coffees came bit late which I didn't mind but was annoyed . When I paid R120 a R 4 tip was added. My waiter told me I had to pay a 10% tip and gave me my R4 back which I thought was very rude. A tip is not a must and is dependent on the type of service that was received. I have been in the restaurant industry for 11 years and expect great humble service where ever I go and pay good tips .and what I received was not worth it Every rand counts especially in these times where business are closing down. Treat your customers with respect because you never know what they will spend the next time they come and how regular they will be. Atleast the car guard appreciated the R4.

The linguine pollo is extremely tasty. It’s my husbands favorite pasta. The service is good and so are the pizzas. Never had a bad meal here. Really nice for a Sunday lunch

An absolutely amazing place to enjoy, fresh, homemade Italian cooking. The servers are wonderful and tend to your every need, and accompanied by the chic yet homely atmosphere, The Eatalian is truly the place to be. <br/><br/>For starters I indulged in a garlic, herb and cheese focaccia which was absolutely mouth watering. The thin, crispy crust and the flavorsome topping made every bite even more tantalizing that the last. <br/><br/>For mains I had the Farfalle al Filetto, a classic creamy Napoletana sauce, with succulent steak and texturing mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes, as well as classic farfalle pasta. With every mouthful I was drawn back for more as the rich, creamy nature of the sauce accompanied by the succulent fillet and flavorsome accompaniments left a wonderful taste residing in your mouth. <br/><br/>Ultimately I had a wonderful experience and I’d definitely come back again and again as this has become a family favorite, definitely a recommendation to others willing to try it as well!

Loved the Mac and Cheese the focaccia with cheese. Pulled lamb and Cajun chicken pizzas where also great. Will def visit again to try the rest of the menu

What a lovely and relaxed atmosphere and such good service to accompany it. Make us feel at home from the very start and even did some custom cocktails for us. Then the food, where we also ordered some items not on the menu, easily accommodated. The only regret I have is not taking a picture to show you guys the best gnocchi quattro formaggi that I've had in my life...<br/><br/>Big thumbs up and a must

Delicious and authentic Italian food! Good service and good ambiance. Everything we’ve ordered from their menu has been a success, especially their pizzas and desserts.

My wife and I took some friends out to dinner, boy were we delightfully surprised. Fabio and the staff treated us excellently. The food was rich and surely made with love. Atmosphere is warm and cozy with music playing subtly in the background. This is a top Italian eatery that must be tried out. Thank you Fabio, we loved the experience.

Beautiful Italian food prepared with love and care! The use of truffle is perfect in certain dishes. Fresh flavors and exciting variety. Will definitely be back...

The food is always a hit and miss (should read hit or miss). Been frequenting since 2016 and the food has gotten increasingly unfresh the more I visit. Have had the ravioli which was so disappointing, seemed to come out of the freezer and into the microwave. Nice little spot but definitely a risk on the food.

Worst breakfast I have had for a long time. Two of us had salmon rosti. The avocado was not ripe so was bitter. Even worse the rosti was taken out the freezer and was not crispy and the potato had gone black with age. It was soggy. Not a great experience at all. But sad I ha e neaten here before and it was fine but this was very poor.<br/>

So yesterday my wife and i decided to visit The Eatalian, after being referred there by Deepin Sukha. We were greeted warmly by a number of waiters before we even got into the restaurant. This was a huge plus as normally only the waiter that is assigned to the table you sit at would greet you.<br/><br/>We were then told to choose any table and take a seat, it was rather quiet. We chose a table close to the oven and then took a look at the menu. We sort of already knew what we wanted to eat so we took a look at the drinks. I ordered an Iced Coffee and @Prenisha Reddy had a cappuccino. Our meal choice was Messicana without the beef bolognaise, and extra pulled lamb instead.<br/><br/>Lets start with the drinks: The cappuccino was strong. Really strong. But good nonetheless. We had to get some extra milk to dilute it a bit, but it certainly was made with some good quality beans. As for the Ice Coffee, it was really really good. I went for the ice cream option as opposed to the traditional ice version. It was really tasty and quite difficult to finish.<br/><br/>Now on to the pizza, the undeniable star of the show. A thin crust with cheesy deliciousness, some green peppers and cooked onion rounded off with the best tasting pull lamb in Johannesburg. The pizza was really that damn good. Could have had a bit more chilli, being a "Mexican" pizza in hiding, but thats what the chilli on the table is for right? The chilli on the table really elevates the pizza.<br/><br/>I really enjoyed the food and the company was great as usual. Would definitely recommend this place to any pizza fundi. Absolutely amazing. And the service from Freedom, our waiter was also quite good. Wonder why it was so quiet though???<br/><br/>Note to Management: Please consider offering a Lamb/Chicken version of your Messicana and a bit more chilli prior to baking the pizza in the oven.

After being to Italy, and having an Italian boyfriend who's mother has blown my mind with almost every meal she cooks, Italian restaurants are rarely a hit with me anymore. What can I say? I'm ruined. However, this place continuously makes me beyond happy! Their Italian sausage pizza and their arancini balls are my favourite go-to's! I'm not a fan of seafood pasta, but many have raved about that too. The owner is a hardcore traditional Italian man who studied in Rome and I love the authenticity that this little spot in Parkmore holds. It is pricey, but all authentic ingredients are imported. All in all, it's certainly cheaper than visiting Rome...

Good food, amazing service and best Limoncello in town. <br/>We come here often and have never been disappointed. A family friendly spot but also great for a quiet date night. <br/>The owner is present and friendly. <br/>A good option always.

We came here for lunch and the food was delicious and service was good. We ordered the pulled lamb pizza, farfalle salmon pasta and roquet and parmigano salad.<br/><br/>The only reason for not rating this restaurant higher is because the prices seem a bit steep for a casual Italian restaurant.<br/><br/>Although the food was very good I am not sure how you can justify R87 for a simple avo and parmigiana salad.<br/><br/><br/>

Eatalian is all about Good Food, Good Coffee, and Happy People. Or so they say...<br/><br/>You walk into a very inviting setting. Warm, decorated, well taken care of, a perfect little place to sit down and enjoy a meal or just a glass of wine. As the sun sets the mood changes with it and becomes even better. Our only gripe was the music, as the evening started off with no music it was a tad quiet, later we could hear something faintly in the background, which wasn't bad, but after a while, it just disappeared.<br/><br/>We started our meal with the starter Mussels, steam fresh and sauteed with garlic and white wine, in a creamy paprika sauce. Wow, my mouth just started watering again. These mussels were perfectly prepared with a delicious sauce and just enough bread on the side to scoop up the creamy sauce. If there was supposed to be paprika in this dish, it probably missed the cooking pot as we couldn't see or taste any of it.<br/><br/>For the mains, we decided to go full-on Italian with their Carbonara pasta and a pizza with Salami, mozzarella, green peppers, mushrooms and lots of garlic and chilli. Both of these dishes were a complete letdown. We were so excited as we love filling our tummies with delicious carbs. The Carbonara was dry, bland, and the pasta itself was bit undercooked, not completely but another half minute would have made it perfectly al dente. The pizza was nothing special, a bit bland, but the biggest problem was it was also dry. With both of the dishes, the meat was dry and tough, the pancetta and the salami.<br/><br/>The coffee was interesting. It was definitely a different type of bean they used, which is always nice to taste, but this just wasn't for us. It had a very bitter after tone that left a taste in the mouth that wasn't very pleasant.<br/><br/>Everyone was very friendly as we arrived, helping us to our seats, getting our orders immediately, and doing it all with a smile. Our waiter was on top of his game, as we filled a plate with mussel shells he was ready with a clean replacement, we felt like royalty. That was up until more people started filling up the restaurant. Obviously, service slows a little down when the restaurant starts filling up, but this got bad. We waited a good 20 min for anyone to clear our table after we ate. We even asked another waiter to get our waiter and even then we had to wave to him as he passed us. Good start, but bad follow through.<br/><br/>The atmosphere was great which does add to value, but we felt like the main parts we paid for wasn't worth the experience. Started off well, but everything just fell flat.<br/><br/>TTT’s rating out of 5: Food - 1.5 | Service - 2.5 | Atmosphere – 4.5 | Value – 1.5<br/><br/>Eatalian gets an 'Angry Stare' from Two Tasty Tummies

Authentic Italian at its best.đŸ‘ŒđŸœThis place serves the best pizza and pasta in town!!! The pollo pizza is my favorite, the base is nice and thin, the toppings are fresh and tasty. The decor and ambiance is great for any occasion, the staff and owners are very friendly.

What kind of Italian restaurant only stocks brown bread? This should have been a warning sign but hey, we were feeding brave so soldiered on. Sadly it didn't end there. Neither the waiter nor the chef seemed to understand that somoeoe who orders their eggs over-easy quite specifically does not want raw, jiggly egg-white floating on top of their fried eggs. Nor was there grasp of the fact that no matter how the average patron orders their eggs, they typically prefer it without the shell.<br/><br/>Despite my experience with the breakfast, I also proceeded to have French toast. Let's just say had I made French toast like that I wouldn't serve it to someone. When the waiter handed me a knife that had clearly not seen a dishwasher since the last patron abandoned it, I knew I wouldn't be back. <br/><br/>The decor is nice and the coffee is decent, but that's where the positivity ends.

Food is amazing, wait staff are friendly, vibe is great, I love this restaurant! Prices to make you cringe a little but the food does not disappoint.

We live down the road and love popping into this local Italian eatery. The vodka pasta is a DREAM and I come back for it every time! Pizzas are thin and crispy and delicious. We always get greeted warmly and service has been great. Haven't tried much else on the menu because I always have the same thing but there's a huge selection of authentic Italian and something for everyone! Highly recommend!

The time between ordering and bringing the food was too long but when it did come: excellent quality. Lovely environment and their Pizza is their biggest strength!
Foodie Reviewer
Always friendly service, and the food is good Italian fare, but a tad pricey. Beautiful restaurant and I love the fact that it is adding to the 11th street Parkmore sidewalk atmosphere. I would suggest sit in rather than take aways - their pizzas are best served straight out of the oven! My husband loves the one with the mushrooms and truffle oil, I tend to make my own.

Went to Eatalian during the week with a large group of colleagues. Everyone was satisfied and happy with their meals. The pastas were great, we had a variety of seafood pasta, calamari and mushroom pasta and prawn risotto. Another colleague tried the lamb chops and really enjoyed it and I had the salmon, medium done. Really enjoyed everything on the table! For dessert we tried the Nutella tiramisu and the dark chocolate mousse, both were lovely but the tiramisu is definitely worth a try. Quaint, arty little spot - small gem on the corner of the street. Service could be a bit better but it's hardly bad enough to cause a scene over. I'd go back.
Kirsten
We were a table of 6, and everyone thought their food was wonderful - pastas, pizzas and foccacias. All good value for money, great fresh ingredients and good portion sizes. The Nutella tiramisu was heaven on a plate. The wine list was quite pricey, but offered a decent selection. The decor and vibe were great, and service was above average despite being a packed Saturday night.

To be fair we only chose this place coz we needed wood fire pizza after being disappointed @ Jamie's Italian. The decor is nice but the service was very very slow. Something that really gets to me. <br/><br/>We ordered the calamari heads which could have spent a bit more time in the fryer. They weren't anything to look at either. The lasagna looked amazing but was in the oven way too long, the cheese on top was completely burnt and too hard to eat. The pulled beef pizza was good. <br/><br/>I ordered a cocktail that wasn't to my liking, some rooibos honey thing. It was awful. The dessert was good though, it was a piece of deliciously decadent Nutella tiramisu. <br/><br/>Very disappointing, I doubt we'd go back.

Service was brilliant , drinks were great but the food was average . I had the chicken breast it was too salty couldn't eat it and my husband had the veal - for R155 it could have had some sauce and maybe 2 pieces of veal , but there was one small piece of veal with lemon squeezed on it. Our friends had pizza and pasta - looked okay. High price for average food!

Love the look of the place and was excited to taste their food after hearing about how good their pizza is but was really disappointed. Will sadly not return except maybe to buy the pizza in the way home.

Brilliant food - shocking background music.<br/><br/>Probably the best Pizza and Pasta in JHB. Great looking place , quaint and casual. Prices are correct for the Excilient food. <br/><br/>Hard to find better but the background music is soft rap SHOCKING as manager to play Italian music rather..

Delicious food, beautiful decor and a good vibe. The waiter was friendly and looked after us all evening. What a lovely experience. Will definitely go back.

Decided to try this restaurant for some afternoon dessert. The decor inside this restaurant is beautiful. The menu oozes Italian deliciousness and the desserts are amazing. However, the servers aren't the friendliest and despite asking for single shot coffee we got double shots and it was so strong we couldn't drink it. Look forward to trying their pizzas !

Mediocre at best. I've been here 3 or 4 times and never found the food great. Ambiance is lovely but I don't see myself coming back..........................

What a hidden treasure in the heart of Parkmore... have visited Eatalian on several occasions and have enjoyed every single meal! The waiters are great and so knowledgeable on the menu and ingredients! Spent my 31st birthday there with my boyfriend and it's a definite go to for anything Italian!
Nadia Myburgh
I love this place.  I have come here a few times, always leaving satisfied.  The ambiance,  staff and pizzas are always amazing.  <br/>Last night however, I was slightly disappointed with the Farfalle Al Filetto.  The entire dish was so unseasoned and bland that it had to be loaded with parmesan and chili and then some.  The meat did not taste like Filet at all and left a turning taste.  <br/>I'll always come back though, and the Gorgonzola Focaccia and good waiter made up for it.
Nerina...
I pass this place ever day and it's always busy, decided to try the breakfast which turned out to be great and then again for a few time for dinner. It does get busy and you probably should book... Fairly kiddy friendly during the non peak periods but not so much when it's crowded. Overall I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere ... Good pasta and pizza - could tell it was made fresh and was authentic.<br/>Will stop by again but will have to choose my time well if I intend bring the kids again.

I had lunch here today with a very good friend of mine to celebrate my birthday. The menu is full of interesting combinations but there are also typical Italian dishes to suit any taste. We had the grilled calamari main and the chicken breast with porcini mushrooms. While the food was tasty and the staff were accommodating, the prices were rather steep considering portion size and the type of sides. Both meals came standard with homemade crisps and mixed veggies. Not bad but nothing really stood out enough to call me back.

Lovely decor, generally good service, nice menu although more veg dishes would be nice. Refreshing cocktails. Quality ingredients, preparation and presentation. Altogether a nice place for Parkmore.
Tenjiwe Moyana
Average food. I ordered the salmon medium. It did come medium but with no great seasoning and the lemon-butter sauce was quite average. The service was slow, too. The vegetable side dish filled half my palm. Not sure I'll return...
Katherine
The menu is large and I battled to make a decision. Settled on my "old faithful"- a prawn pasta. It was pretty average. After reading the menu and seeing one of the ingredients was kiwi fruit I thought I'd tell the waiter to leave it off, but I forgot. It really was an odd combination and did nothing for the dish, and the prawns were rather insipid and scarce. Despite the dish being served flambé style, my food was luke warm. The portion was massive though, and round two the next day actually tasted nicer. The focaccia we had to start was delicious. I do appreciate what this restaurant, and others, are doing to perk up the "Parkmore strip" though.
Amy Sophia Esterhuizen
If you are looking for good pizza with interesting toppings in the area this is the place to go! Some of the pastas are also delicious too, would recommend the Linguine Pollo. The service is good and the atmosphere great.
Kalay Maistry
Average food, nothing that will blow your socks off. I have been lucky, great many delicious Italian meals scoffed in the past, means a high benchmark. Nice decor, especially at night, great lighting. And indoor sitting is the better option, I dont like tables on pavements so close to the road. Nice place for a drink with colleagues after work on the Parkmore drag, especially if your offices are in the nearby Sandton CBD.
Renzo Sartori
The vibe was great the service good, typical Italian food that could do with a little more passion.<br/>Will be back to try other dishes on the menu.
The Cutlery Chronicles
Sadly I have to admit that our experience at The Eatalian was not the best. We arrived to an empty restaurant for a 7pm reservation. The service started out fine but deteriorated from there having to catch our waiters attention the whole night which resulted in us having various waiters. I liked look of the menu from the beginning, however, the food itself was disappointing. For starters we ordered the squid heads, which was more fried batter than actual calamari, they were really just little fried crumbs. I ordered the linguine pesto pasta for my main which was rather tasteless and bland and was drowning in oil. Not at all appetising and not how a pasta should be served. My partner had the farfalle fillet pasta, which, although was better than the pesto was also nothing spectacular. The dish lacked depth of flavour and was rather rich and heavy.  Rather a disappointing evening. I was looking forward to eating here having read some good reviews on Zomato, but unfortunately our dinner definitely did not live up to expectations.
The Pretoria Explorer
Okay guys I'm going to tell you a nice story.. I love zomato because of this. So I was on my way to a meeting to Sandton and my director asked me if we could stop for lunch. It was recommended on zomato and the rating was good. The restaurant is in a nice spot and is quite informal with a good atmosphere. The amount of business meetings that were taking place were shocking in the restaurant. The food was so so so good and the presentation on point. I ate this pizza with meatballs on it and with Tabasco it blew me away. The best part of the day was the freshly ground coffee which the owner himself roasts upstairs.. the setting made me feel like I was at home 🏡

A relaxed Sunday brunch at the Eatalian!<br/><br/>This is a quaint eatery in Parkmore. The decor is warm and trendy.<br/><br/>It seemed as though the service staff were also very relaxed. Service was very slow. I waited about 20 mins for an orange juice and another 15mins for a coffee. This was despite the fact that the restaurant was not very busy. Our waiter was a pleasant chappie nonetheless. The kiddies at the table were well taken care of and received their meals first.<br/><br/>We ordered a host of dishes including the eggs Benedict; classic breakfast, omelette; savory tart and polenta burger. The food was delicious and really well prepared. <br/><br/>Their freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious and definitely the highlight of my brunch. Cappuccino was pretty good as well.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, there were not many vegetarian breakfast options available. We requested pizzas but were told that the pizza oven is only turned on after 11.30am. Most of our meals arrived at this time anyway. A tad disappointed that the restaurant could not accommodate our request. We settled for polenta burgers without the egg instead. <br/><br/><br/> <br/><br/><br/><br/>

We went on a Sunday afternoon. There was nothing great about the Quattro pizza. Meals were plain and somewhat overpriced. Underwhelming at best

This was such a lovely dining experience. Obviously very popular cos even at 17:30 it was quite busy. We had the focaccia to start...had generous amounts of cheese. For mains I had the chicken schnitzel with Gorgonzola & peppadew sauce...luv'd this. Then I had the Nutella tiramisu for dessert...it was nice...I wish the Nutella taste was stronger than the alcohol taste. All in all a lovely experience...nice vibe, excellent service!

I had a very enjoyable dining my experience at this romantic spot. A very trendy and warm/cosy feel, with great service and a great meal. We ordered the antipasto misto for 2, and it was great. A very tasty filling portion of mixed cold meats, artichoke, buffalo mozzarella ect. <br/><br/>And then I ordered the Pollo Linguine and it was to die for. A massive portion with a creamy garlic sauce, tender pieces of chicken and sundried tomatoes which all combined superbly. Really enjoyed my meal and experience

I dream about their Paesanna Pizza, all mushroom & sausage & cheese, try swap sausage for Parma ham, always with a drizzle of truffle oil. Heaven. <br/>Might be letting out a little secret... Real truffles, just might be available for a pasta delight...For a few days. & yes; service is always just right b<br/>

We were a table of 6 last Saturday night.   Very disappointed in the owner's attitude.  Two of my friends ordered veal.  The one portion was a decent size and the other was very small.  I ordered calamari and the portion was tiny.  I eat grilled calamari everywhere and this was by far the smallest portion I have ever been served.  We called the waiter and he brought me more calamari.  The manager looked at my friends veal and said it weighed the same as the other.  This was clearly impossible.  Both portions were flattened out and thin.  Anyway he refused to bring more which turned out just as well as they both found it very dry.  I feel that the owner should have replaced the veal whether he agreed or not and found his manner and the way he handled this unacceptable.  We all agreed that one should only order pizza or pasta dishes at this restaurant.

I am in Jhb on business and decided to pop into this Italian restaurant... I am so pleased I did!!!<br/>Aglio Olio conPepperoncino starter and Parma ham, rocket and Regiano pizza main. <br/>Alexander Bottega grappa and perfect ristretto cafe to bring the whole experience together! Well done Marco and team, you get my max rating and continued support!<br/>Ryan

I expected more from this restaurant given the rave reviews I have seen on Zomato to date. Maybe it was a bad day for the restaurant. First impressions were not great, as we waited outside in the cold for the hostess to take a booking for the next day before she seated us at our booked table. The decor is exquisite although the table and chairs were very close together and we often and waiters bums in our faces (usually doesn't bother me, but this was quite noticeable). The service though was great - Jerry was lovely! we had deep fried squid heads in lemon butter sauce as a starter. This dish could do with more sauce and less batter. For mains, we had the Francese Pizza which was tasty and the seafood pasta was had great flavours but I had shards of mussel shell sneak in a few bites. Overall, well priced but in this night an average dining experience. I would recommend this place as a regular local restaurant but not for special occasions.
Emily Smith
After seeing such rave reviews I was quite excited to try out The Eatalian, when Italian food is done right it can be cosmic. The restaurant is in a great spot and has a light and open atmosphere, the food was however a bit of a let down. The pasta I had was quite tasty although far too oily, my boyfriend had the lasagne which was a bit of a mushy mess. We tried the panna cotta which pales in comparison to Cafe Del Sol's and had a goopy layer of gelatin at the bottom. Although not bad overall I wouldn't be in a rush to go back.
Lesley Street
This place is great, the menu has a good selection of food and drinks. The decor is cute and the vibe is good. My only issue was with the service it wasn't great, to be fair the place was very busy that night, but I think it could have been better.
Natalie Lazaris
I think I just found my new favorite itallian restaurant. Owned by two itallians, this place is nothing less than authentic. Wonderful atmosphere, this place is packed with happy and hungry customers. The food is delicious, beautiful flavors and very generous portions. We went to celebrate a birthday and everyone had a great time, especially when the staff sang for the birthday boy. The prawn pasta is something to be reckoned with, it comes flambed -wow!!! Let's not forget their homemade tiramisu, I'd go back everyday for a piece. It's just a homely and memorable experience. You have to book, or else you ain't getting in.
Luz Helena Hanauer
It is managed by real Italians, they make provision if you need gluten free food. Service is great, their tiramisu is perhaps the best in the area, their coffee  holds the Italian name with dignity. Service is average but good enough to have a good night, and most importantly, it is friendly!<br/>The noise can be a bit too loud if there is a full house, but in general it is enjoyable, stylish yet family friendly.<br/>Another thumbs up is the decoration, it is rustic yet sophisticated.
Sarah Druce
I was so excited to come here and I was definitely NOT disappointed - quite possibly the most delicious pizza I've had. I will 100% be back!

I had the best vongela pasta I've ever tasted.. my husband had the fillet pasta which was incredible. Really didn't hear such great reviews.. but I've got to say those people were wrong. The food we ate was really outstanding. <br/>Service wasn't good..the restaurant was full and think thats were the service failed.. we're a table of 10. <br/>Will be back... craving that smokey vongela..<br/>

Best coffee in Joburg!!! WE had a great lunch, service spectacular and a very cool setting. I only had an antipasto platter so hard to judge the food prep but everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. On my antipasto platter I would recommend that the mozarella in the caprese is not so bulky in the slicing of it.

We had a wonderful Friday night dinner here and were sat in the corner booth table (which I think is the best seat in the house).  The ambiance is cozy and quaint and equally suitable for an intimate dinner for two or a group of friend.  Food is delicious but what stood out for me was the "Tongue in Green Sauce" starter which is thinly sliced ox tongue, not dissimilar to carpaccio, served with a delicious sauce.  I would highly recommend this, especially as a gentle introduction for anyone who gets queasy at the thought of offal and sweet-meats. I shall be going back to purchase their ground coffee and try their breakfast menu. Keep up the good work!

Definitely worth a visit if you're one of those people who allow yourself a pizza once in a while and want it to hit the spot! Cooked to perfection on a thin base, lots of choice on toppings and overall great flavor! The wine list didn't disappoint either and the ambience was warm and friendly. Will certainly go back to try the other dishes on the menu, esp the breakfast and coffee. Book ahead if you're a group, this place does get busy on weekends!

Love this place! Great food, great vibe and really good service. Well above average! All of our orders came out nice and quick. Our waiter knew the menu well. My Caprese Salad was excellent! I will definitely be going back in the near future. Highly recommended!

Have been wanting to try this spot for a while now! Was greeted at the front desk by a lovely woman. We didn't have a reservation but she swiftly seated us inside. Me and my boyfriend had a really yummy lunch today. I had beef carpaccio to start, he had the squid heads. Then for mains he had ricotta pasta and I had seafood pasta. The perfect amount of chili and garlic was used in both pastas. So tasty. So fresh. Will definitely be back.

Awesome Lil place. Hidden away from most places. We decided to have dinner with our friends to catch up on our holiday pics. It's a nice Italian place, down the road from one of my awesome Indian restaurants. It's got those amazing thin crust Pizzas. The pasta was just a perfect portion. It truly is a Gem and I would recommend anyone to try it out. The service was also very good.

What a little gem in the old Parkmore strip. <br/>What a great stop for a quick pizza or pasta...<br/>The service isnt amazing but is above average<br/>The one thing that is amazing about Eatalian is the coffee.. True dark classic Italian roast with a light fruity crema Gusto... That comes from using propper lever action machines.... <br/>All in all a great dinner or lunch stop.

Stumbled upon this gem by complete accident one morning whilst in the Parkmore area. Well decorated place with superb food all round. Pasta and pizza selection looks appetizing. Friendly manager who is welcoming and his hands on influence is clear in the restaurants rapport... Excellent choice for an Italian treat

I like this place more and more every time that I eat there. The Eatalian is perfectly on point with it's offering of a solid neighbourhood Italian join that ticks all the boxes. Reasonably priced, absolutely delicious food- check. Lovely setting with homely, cosy decor- check. Amazing wood fired pizzas- check. Good service and an interested owner- check.  Good wine list- check. You can't go wrong with this little place in Parkmore. Highly recommended for a casual dinner or lunch with friends, you won't be disappointed! Tip: order the Farfalle Salmone pasta- it's totally addictive.

Had dinner at the Eatalian last night with the family. Nice setting. Service was reasonable. The did was pretty good. My pizza had a really good thin crust, but was possibly a little oily, although that may have been my fault in my choice. Boglognaise was solid but a little unexciting. Salad was maybe the let down with the pancetta a bit over cooked. <br/>Will definitely give it another go, possibly for breakfast.

The restaurant looks the part - trendy interiors with large pizza oven and tables on the sidewalk. We tried to order wine, but the first choice wasn't available. The menu prices were more worthy of a top restaurant and not the neighbourhood bistro. I then decided to rather order starters - Italian salad R70 (not dressed) but there was olive oil & balsamic on the table. The squid heads were crispy but overdone and the sauce resembled milk. When I asked what the sauce was, the manager wasn't sure but brought me a version of tartare sauce. The lasagna my husband ordered was too cheesy with not enough meat and the Margaritha pizza my daughter had was very average. We will not be back

Had dinner here last night. Lovely place, great ambiance. I had the chicken Gorgonzola - delish. My date had one of the specials of the day - rabbit. He didn't enjoy it-far too many bones made it difficult to eat, eventually gave up & shared my generous meal with me. Overall, good experience, that rabbit was just a let down.

Coffee was a bit pungent, but Polenta Burger was amazing !! A beautifully furnished corner cafe with stunning decor and a lovely vibe in Parkmore. I love the location and will certainly be back 🎀
@MzansiGirl
I expected a bit more from the Eatalian. From the outside it ticks the right boxes - trendy decor, not too fussy and on the Benmore strip. The food left me underwhelmed. On the plus side our two starters were great. The Arancini - rice balls stuffed with oozy cheese and coated in crumbs - were perfect, though I wasn't too impressed with the tartar-like sauce they were served with. We enjoyed the polenta with porcini served with a rich Gorgonzola sauce. For mains we had a Paesana pizza and a Pancetta and brinjal salad. The pizza was just too oily, and I didn't even taste like truffle oil, more like it was just drenched in oil - definitely not worth the R139 price tag! The salad was very average - the brinjal tasted old and the olives tasted cheap and the buffalo mozzarella scarce. I even had to ask for salad dressing. Service was ok - didn't like that I had to ask for salad dressing and a teaspoon for the tea.

Been looking for a good Italian restaurant and finally tried The Eatalian. A cozy place with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. The pasta was the best I have had in a while and the portions generous. Will definitely go back.

Boasting one of the biggest traditional pizza ovens I have ever seen and the tastiest pizzas with the freshest toppings I have ever tasted.Lovely outlay, décor and atmosphere and conveniently situated out of the hassle and buzzle of the nearby Benmore Gardens Shopping centre.

Great little Italian! Nice atmosphere, great service. Well worth the visit. Will definitely revisit. My Pollo Verde a little salty, but really moist, fresh and big portion.<br/>

A delicious night out, from the perfectly balanced beetroot starter, to the oxtail with polenta chips & freshly made basil pesto! Attentive waiters & management - will definitely be back! Looking forward to trying their rabbit.

Efficient service, nice setup and delicious, flavorsome meals. We tried the fettuccine Salsiccia and it was creamy goodness. I would have preferred the pasta softer and did request this bit it was still rather firm. The Penne Carbonara did have lots of black pepper like the menu states and you may want to request this to be a little toned down if it's not your preference. Nice vibe and I plan on trying out their other menu items 🙂

Lovely ambience and setting .The pizza was too thin for my liking.. like eating a softer version of cardboard. Not flavourful either . disappointed
Michelle
We got takeaway pizza from here so I can't really comment on service etc.. Very well decorated though.<br/>Pizzas were nice enough and would have them again. <br/>We were a bit off put by the reviews on the pastas so feel a bit apprehensive to try them.<br/>We do look forward to spending some good evenings here in future as we live in the area and it is a good local pizza place!

Restaurant is great BUT... I specified no cheese or yoghurt when I ordered and when the waiter brought my food he assured me there was none. But when I got a shocking migraine and called the restaurant, I was told that they had thickened the my fettuccine sauce with Parmesan. That is unacceptable! I have been so ill today

We went there for lunch today with mixed feelings. I had their seafood pizza which was very nice. Only thing I would change is the pizza cones with prawn heads on which not sure what the reason is. So unless you like eating prawn heads. Ask them to only put the prawn bodies. My wife had the mushroom pasta which she really enjoyed. Found the wine expensive but they do do corkage- R50.00. Will eat there again.

Nice atmosphere, good food, friendly staff. Only complaint is music...oldies. Also, the owner was doing bookkeeping/admin with laptop and paperwork out in the restaurant...not very nice.

Mm... I have some mixed feelings about the Eatalian.<br/><br/>It's the place to be seen currently with the likes of Vanessa Carreira dining there. The vibe is romantic and trendy. <br/><br/>The service is fast and attentive maybe a little too attentive in that we were constantly be asked if everything was alright - even with our mouths full of food. The tables were a bit squashed which resulted in our waiter bumping us and we also bumped the table behind us when standing to leave. This made for a few uncomfortable apologies. <br/><br/>The pizza and pasta dishes we ordered were incredible and if that's what you are in the mood for then definitely make a booking at the Eatalian. We ordered two none pasta and pizza dishes and they were WAY below par. I cringe thinking of the snotty mushrooms on my dry chicken breast and the un- flambéed alcohol on the meat orders by my father.<br/><br/>My verdict: great pizza and pasta - the starters are also worth a try. For anything else go elsewhere.<br/>

Needed a much deserved break from the office so gave The Eatalian a try after having bookmarked the restaurant months ago. <br/>Seafood pizza was exactly as it should be, thin crusty base; herby tomato base; and decent amount of seafood. Ordered with extra cheese 😊. My only gripe was that the prawns were still in the shell. But that's laziness for you. <br/>Had to try some antipasti so opted for the crispy squid heads and arancini - risotto, cheese, truffle oil and bolognese crumbed and deep fried. Squid heads were good but needed a sprinkle of salt. Was not impressed with the Arancini though. Needs an injection of flavor and could not taste any truffle. Will give this a miss next time. There will be a next time - heard the pasta is really good. Let's wait and see...

Been 3 times during the day. Staff inattentive owner/manager keeps to himself in his spot. Never checked on us ever. Little atmosphere/vibe.Food disappointing. Very sad. Pay attention. You have a gold mine here. Music. People spilling onto pavement Bistro vibe. Make me want to come back. Live up to your word. Livers hard and tasteless . Brinjal parmigiana bake was tasty. Last meal a salad was forgettable. Lovely Decor. Awesome Glasses. Wine list great.

Pasta and pizza are definitely what is great about this new Restaurant that has sprung up in Parkmore . It has a simple menu and the pasta portions are large and the thin base pizza are excellent , I found the squid heads a little tasteless and the desserts portions were on the small side. Ave per head R180 / R200 .

Finally decided to give this place a try and wished I had sooner. Staff and service was great. Pasta cooked to perfection, delicious, flavourful and the pizza straight outa Italy. Definitely one of the better Italian restaurants out there.

Right - Eatalian has been on my radar for over a month and it was time! Eatalian's slogan: "We are all about good food, good coffee & happy people" is simple and genuine. <br/><br/>Fabio & his brother are not new to the restaurant industry and their 20+ years of experience in several venues including Luigi's (Riverclub), have allowed the Razzino's to perfect good, solid, Italian comfort food (and coffees) in that time. Fabio even roasts his own coffee beans (photos of his coffee roasting machine attached).<br/><br/>Great tasting Italian, comprehensive options, good wine, generous portions and decent pricing. Honestly what is not to love.. I was served well and quickly by Fredo, my waiter. Two components that I really appreciate. <br/><br/>My one concern would have to be the lack of parking in the area but its still worth the hunt! <br/><br/>*Recommendation: If you haven't been by, and plan on going by in the evening, just a note that this place is packed Wednesday - Sunday so I would highly recommend booking to avoid disappointment (0113268786).<br/><br/>For more, find me on Twitter: LaurasWorldza

We decided to try the Eatalian after quite some time of having our eyes on it. The waiters were very friendly and accommodating and told us what are the more popular dishes. My husband I decided to try their pastas. The portions were massive but absolutely delicious. I felt that the pasta could have been cooked for 2 more minutes but it could have been the style an authentic Italian place like this had so I was not too critical of that. The owner came to us to check up on our meal and was extremely friendly. We did try a focaccia and it was superb so we are definitely coming back for some pizza. If you are not an Italian fan, they have many other dishes you can order that do not involve pizza or pasta.

I LOOOOVED THIS PLACE! Good setting, cute little restaurant that's kept to an Italian concept. Food was amazing! Very tasty and different too. Very good restaurant To go for a date!

So I waited a few days to write this review<br/><br/>I had heard a lot about the Eatalian, good things. <br/><br/>The vibe and decor is very chilled and relaxed so it seemed we would have a good time<br/><br/>We ordered muscles to share as starters, paprika and cream sauce, my wife loves them and I just wasn't sure about the paprika. It just seemed to give it some bitterness. <br/><br/>My wife had chili and garlic calamari for mains and said there was so much chili that could not eat it. <br/><br/>I had seafood pasta. Firstly to serve pasta with prawns still in the shell grinds me and muscles in the shell. Is this a meal to be eaten with your hands or a fork? Then to take the muscles out the sauce and pasta and arrange them around the edge of the place firstly is very 90s and makes them cold and unappetizing. Pasta was ok, little too much chili and the over cooked prawns and cold muscles didn't make a great combo. I must admit that the calamari in the pasta was perfect. <br/><br/>We then had ice cream which was soft warm and melted basically. Not great. <br/><br/>I cannot count the amount of times a waitron knocked the menu sitting next to me on the table or out table as they walked past. <br/><br/>Not sure I will go again. Would need convincing.

After our year end work function, 2 of my friends from work and I decided to try out a restaurant in Benmore. We found this cute little place called The Eatalian. The waiters seated us immediately and were very attentive. Our food arrived quickly. My one friend and I shared the Pollo pizza. It was so delicious. My other friend had the springbok carpaccio which he said was really good. Will definitely be going back to The Eatalian to try out the pasta. Great food and great service.

A great new Italian restaurant in Parkmore. Very nice and cozy ambience. Loved the copper tone. Very friendly and efficient waitstaff. I tried the pizza and it was delicious. Definitely going back to try more.

I am in LOVE with the decor of this restaurant! What a great setting!<br/>The food was good too.  We had 3 pizza's and 1 pasta dish at the table and not one complaint.  I am on a search to find Jo'burg's best pizza, and what was served at The Eatalian makes them on my top 5 list.  Pizza's are thin and crispy without being soggy or burnt, and the toppings were fair and flavorsome. <br/>My dad introduced me to this place, and being an Italian chef he often struggles to find food and restaurants he enjoys, so if he likes the food, this place get's my immediate vote!<br/>The owner was very friendly and came by to say hi.  <br/>I look forward to going back to try some of their other dishes.

Loved this Italian joint! Italian owner walking around and interacting with all the customers and serving all the food personally giving the restaurant a very homely feel. While the chef in the kitchen (reminded me of the movie CHEF) covered in tattoos with a hardcore look manages to delight the palette with mouth watering dishes. I never go for a creamy pasta but this night I did and it was a solid 9/10. Portions a generous and the decor is stunning luxy industrial inspired! Can't wait to go back đŸ‘ŒđŸŒ

The restaurant is beautifully decorated.<br/><br/>At a table of 10 people, 9 ordered different pasta dishes, which were very average. Although the portions were quite large, the pasta was overcooked and the dishes were bland, salt and pepper offered no saving grace. I ordered the Spagetti Alla Duchessa which includes prawns in the shell, however there were only 3 small prawns served on the top, not what I expected from a prawn pasta! <br/>We dished out our take-away leftovers to the car guards. <br/><br/>Dessert was the saving grace, and would definitely recommend the nutella tiramisu!<br/><br/>Would not go back within the year.
