Review Vikrams - Sandton

Kelsey Toi
We decided on Indian for our Sunday dinner. We were warmly welcomed at the door and had our pick of seating. Well looked after restaurant and clean. My brother and I had the butter chicken and the lamb palak which were both incredibly delicious and served steaming hot. Both came with a serving of rice and of course we had to get a garlic naan as well. We were the only people dining in the restaurant, so hence the lack of atmosphere, however still a wonderful dining experience and will definitely be back to try other dishes!

The new Vikrams is open and the food outstanding as always. Hidden Joburg gem - look no further for diverse, flavourful currie and Indian dishes. Firm favourite for many years. Never disappoints - sitting down or taking out. Best in Gauteng. Top two in SA.

We had a good experience here. Asked for ice tea and waiter told us they are out of stock (there’s a pick n pay just arouns the corner). But the food was nice.

Easily one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever visited. Prime location, can be easily spotted, amazing sitting spacing, decor was excellent, service was top-notch, starters to main course - each and every dish was delicious and great ... love how Indian culture is promoted through art, paintings, info in menu and of course the amazing food. This is a must-visit !!!

Stunning Dining at Vikram's Lonehill I recently had the pleasure of dining at Vikram's Lonehill, and it was nothing short of an exquisite experience. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by the charming ambiance of the restaurant. We started our culinary journey with the Chilibite starter, which was a tantalizing introduction to the flavors that awaited us. The crispy bites were perfectly spiced, leaving our taste buds tingling with anticipation. For the main course, we indulged in the Lamb Korma, accompanied by Garlic Naan and fragrant rice. The portions were impressively generous, ensuring that every bite was a delightful symphony of flavors. The lamb in the Korma was exceptionally tender, melting in our mouths, and the creamy sauce was a perfect balance of spices. What truly sets Vikram's Lonehill apart, besides its delectable cuisine, is the warm and welcoming service. The staff made us feel like old friends, even remembering us from previous visits. Their attentiveness and friendliness added an extra layer of comfort to the dining experience. I must also commend the owner for their exceptional hospitality. They went above and beyond to ensure that our meal was nothing short of perfect, accommodating our requests with a gracious smile. In conclusion, Vikram's Lonehill is a hidden gem that not only offers sumptuous Indian cuisine but also creates a memorable dining experience. It's a place where flavors dance on your palate, and the staff treats you like family. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, you're in for a treat that will leave you craving more.

Vikram catered for an off site function for 55 guests. He prepared the food to travel without any spileage whatsoever. He guided us in terms of preparation to ensure it's perfectly warmed and ready to serve. My guests were blown away. Thank you thank you. It's the second time he has catered and I Will be back.!!!

Great food! Good and friendly service. The patron is very obliging. The chicken Tikka Masala- one of the best!
Gizelle Mc İntyre
Very tasty, but be careful for being too careful, mild is a little too mild if you do enjoy some spice, still delicious.
The Life’s Way
Vickram's is currently undergoing maintenance and is under a make shift arrangements of a canopy till a month or so. The food is amazing and the venue is amazing. Check it out in Lonehill. Thanks

Worst service I have ever experienced in my entire life. Arrived here at 12:30, had to call a waiter multiple times to get our drink order, our food arrived at 14:30, orders were mixed up in terms of flavors. Not to forget, no straws with our drinks, no serviettes on the table, not enough cutlery- oh yes and ordering salad, not getting it with our two hour late meal and then getting billed for it! Worst Mother's Day I have ever had. I will not recommend this place to my worst enemy honestly. A piece of cardboard has better people skills than the manager. Instead of handing out scarves to the Mothers for Mother's Day - please use that money to hire extra staff because you are clearly understaffed and terribly run! I will never be desperate enough to come back to your restaurant - for the prices, there are MANY Indian restaurants with far better service, management and food! Thank you for spoiling our Mother's Day!
Nershia Nadia Harrikaran
Being a vegetarian my options are mostly limited however at Vikram's had more than 10 dishes to choose from. Dishes were all tasty and very reasonable portion sizes. We also had very friendly and accomadating waiters. Love the ambiance of the place. Definitely have already recommended it to my friends.

One of our favorite restaurants in Joburg. Used to drive from North West for their special curries. Now living in Lonehill we are lucky to be so close. BEST NAAN I have ever tasted! Our favourites also include prawn korma, paneer korma, chicken palak, lamb gosht badami and their amazing gulab jamun treats.
The staff is so helpful and friendly, feels like a second home.
Zee
Wow. I ordered a chicken tikka masala, chicken spring rolls and 2 garlic naan for my husband and I to share. Portion size is huge. It’s the next morning and I’m still stuffed. Food is fresh and so delicious. Chicken is tender. Thank you. You are the only Indian / curry place we will be Uber eating from for a long time!

Our favorite Indian food in Joburg. Doesn’t matter which dish you order on the menu, you’ll never be disappointed. The restaurant was recently refurbished and the new setting is contributing to a great eat out experience.

We have only ever ordered takeaways on uber eats from vikrams, but the curry is always great. I love their veg selection and the potato curry is great! Their prices are very affordable too if you order directly from them

Please note: This is a take-away review.

Hubby and I felt for some North Indian food and didn’t feel like the usual ones in our area so we decided to extend the search. He found Vikram’s and with a good rating it was definitely a go!

I went ahead and ordered my usual. Butter chicken extra hot with rice extra hot. Hubby ordered his usual. Chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. Extra hot as well. We decided to try their special masala naan.

The butter chicken and chicken tikka masala had lovely flavors, heat, spice and consistency was to our liking.
I tried their speciality masala naan. I don’t like like it so I’ll just stick to the rice in future.

I have tried a few North Indian restaurants and this has now become my new favorite.
Frieda Tanton
Wonderful variety of good quality food. Chicken curries are excellent and tasty. Good atmosphere and service. Became our favourite father’s day spot

The food is absolutely worth it & fantastic flavours within every meal chosen. Been to this restaurant several times. Always leave with a Happy tummy💃🏻
Mayuri
Been here twice thus far and on both occasions left happy. The chilli paneer starter is divine. Had the dhall gosht which was also really tasty. Great masala tea as well and service.
Pashnee Naidoo
Definitely my favorite Indian restaurant at the moment. The vegetable breyani, paneer makhani and their naans are so delicious.
Service is always great.
Gaurav Jit
Can't give much rating to this . The non vegetarian starters are delicious but the main course is very average . I had ordered chicken dum biryani , chicken vindaalo , mushroom dopiazza and these were below par compared to other Indian restaurants around the locality . Price is costly and doesn't make sense to spend so much on the food which you won't like .
My ratings are only for the starters , ambience and good staff . Chef needs an upgrade or needs to be changed !!! Not visiting anytime soon there .
Natasha Parry
I've had my fair share of curries and can sincerely state without reservation that Vikrams is my number one spot. I had the fish tikka masala and hubby enjoyed the Vikrams signature lamb. We were both on cloud nine. Having just moved to Lonehill, Vikrams will be our new date night venue. Amazing!!!
Cynisha
Perfect place for a wonderful Indian meal. Quiet, peaceful surroundings. Would definitely be back here for the delicious food. Authentic Indian cuisine at its best.

We went to this restaurant with friends that we haven't seen in a long time. My dad who is allergic to flour disclosed this to the manager prior to ordering. Upon choosing his lamb dish, he again said to the manager he cannot have flour and the manager confirmed that they only use chick pea flour. He unfortunately suffered an allergic reaction and had to be rushed away to get his required medication. Unacceptable.

Chose to eat there on a lovely friday afternoon with my colleagues. Wonderful staff and service. Very accomodating. Impressed with the cleanliness. Alil pricey but worth the taste. Not your average indian food, excellent indian food! Not too spicey, tasted like quality foods. Cant wait to eat there again regards- pronto foods centurion

Wow, we chose this restaurant after reading all the great reviews and looked forward to the great atmosphere from what was expected from the images. We ended up more convinced that we must’ve come to the wrong restaurant. Absolutely terrible service with the waitresses making at least 3 errors. Saying the food was made yesterday is probably an understatement. I’d prefer the feeling of not eating the whole day over the feeling that food gave me.
Elmien.mostert
Vikrams is our Friday night takeout ritual... Chicken kadai, chicken tikka masala and naan is our standard order. We usually do takeaways. Great food.
Azrah Kadwa
Vikrams took me back to my trip to India and allowed me to reminisce on the odd decor , soft Indian music and beautiful colors. The food was too delicious. I tried the Tandoori chicken which was cooked to perfection and it was accompanied by a savory sauce that was friendly to the pallet. The service was good. I was slightly disappointed by the fact that they do it serve Rasmalai any longer yet it remains on the menu. Overall a lovely place for a beautiful night out

Vikrams is the most colourful Rajasthani styled Indian restaurant with authentic Indian food. This is one of the most popular places with great food and ambience. I loved the Indian culture this restaurant brings with its decor and ambience. The vegetarian curries are nice as I tried Kadai paneer with garlic naan. The starters are also nice. This is a must visit place in Johannesburg if you love Indian food. Thanks
Alex Fox
Great authentic curry, good atmosphere and helpful staff. Also do good takeaway! The lamb jal frezie is my favorite! Currently under renovation but still awesome food and service!
Neil Hymers
An excellent Sunday lunch. The best curry I've had in JHB. We shared an onion Bhajee starter, which was average as well as an outstanding mutton curry & an equally good lamb Kadhai with a selection of Naans. Good service & a reasonably priced but limited wine list. We'll be back.
Maretha Steyn
Even though the restaurant doesn't look like much the food definitely makes up for it! So much to choose from and very well priced! I had the Lamb Korma and ordered Roti as well and I'll have enough leftovers for the next two days! The food was very fragrant and rich in flavour- yum yum!! This place will definitely see me again😏
Natalie Schubach
Outstanding! Great food excellent service and an authentic idian ambiance. Best indian food i have had especially the chicken korma. Date night for me and my boyfriend at least once a month
Kirsty Morey
Thoroughly impressed by Vikrams in Lonehill. The curry was absolutely delicious and exactly what I wanted on a cold winter's evening. I'll be back!
Michelle Rocke
After many visits to Vikrams Lonehill, I can safely say it is one of the best Indian restaurants in Joburg. The food is authentic and consistently good, the butter chicken is my favorite and the portions are very generous. They also have great vegetarian options.
Timothy Olls
The most delicious Indian food and friendly service. Will definitely be back soon. I can highly recommend the Lamb Korma and butter naan bread!

I guess in order to understand Indian cuisine one firstly has to understand cuisine, i.e. food.

Cooking processes are all pretty much the same. There could be additional spices one adds or certain spices that one omits, purely because the spices are not available at that geographic location or they are different, like the different types of masala that alters a dish considerably and that's just Indian dishes.

There are eastern dishes that have just as much complications, a simple example of this are the different types of Chinese dishes, Thai dishes and Japanese dishes....All delicious but at the end of the day it's what stimulates your taste buds, let us not forget we are all different.

So lets understand the cuisine!

India has 22 official languages, South Africa has 11.
22 different languages in India means there are over 22 types of Indian dishes available in India.
Now if a certain culture has several families and the different families vary their cooking techniques....Can you imagine?

Here in South Africa alone we have Pakistani food (Muslim cooking style), Hindi food (North Indian cooking style) and Tamil food (South Indian cooking style). Don't be mistaken there are many more.
Durban curries and their styles and Johannesburg curries and cooking styles.

As generations spread and diversify so does the cooking style and flavors based on the availability of spices.

What does this mean?

All curries are different and all infused with different spices. One cannot say one is better then the other as they are all cooked differently.
People are all different and different strokes for different folks.

VICKRAM'S is North Indian cuisine

Vickram's curry is simply amazing, different but amazing. The curries have very little, if not no oil, which is a huge health bonus. The curries are served with an option of mild, medium and hot which is fantastic.
There are options with options and just so many to choose from, absolutely amazing. It's not a restaurant that you will see two, three or four times, their are enough options to keep you coming back again and aging and again.

What you’ll find in the North of India:

Prominent dishes: You’ll find lots of breads and curries in the North. Much of what you eat in the restaurants in the West—such as naan bread, rotis, samosas, curries such as palak paneer (spinach and cheese) and aloo ghobi (potato and cauliflower), and the like—is north Indian. Spice mixture and powder: Garam masala is the predominant spice mixture used.Sour ingredient: Sourness is a prevalent flavor in Indian food. Amchoor (dried mango powder) is used as a souring agent in curries.Dried herb: In the North, some sauces are accented with the use of dried fenugreek leaves.Hot drink: In the North, you finish a meal off with tea or chai.

What you’ll find in the South of India:

Prominent dishes: Generally speaking, South Indian cooking is based around rice, lentils, and stews. Dishes such as dosa (a lentil and rice crêpe), idli (steamed lentil rice cakes), saaru/rasam (tomato, tamarind, and lentil soup), and huli/sambar (spicy lentil and vegetable stew) are all from the South. Spice mixture and powder: Huli pudi (sambar powder) is often used to spice dishes.Sour ingredient: Tamarind is used in stews.Dried herbs: Dried curry leaves flavor some of the soups. Hot drink: You’d finish off the meal with a special type of coffee made with chicory.

What you'll find in Vickram's:

Vickram's Aneja has been running the restaurant from 2005-2010 as "Banjaara" before he decided to go a step ahead from the rest in terms of quality and service.
So he decided to start the change with the name, changing it to "Vickram's".

Vickram's offers a more sophisticated dining experience for those who are seeking to explore beyond the ordinary and discover the full potential of Indian fine dining. The food here is nothing short of an artistic masterpiece, from internationally acclaimed curries to delicious chicken and mutton recipes.
The mouth watering delicacies never fail to impress.
The spices usually accused of being magical, which are rare and add that special aroma and taste to the delicacies are used to perfection.

Vickram's feeds the eyes as much as it does the mouth. Offering the choicest of Indian cuisine in contemporary settings. Vickram's has been one of Jo'burgs most acclaimed and popular fine dining restaurants.

To ensure that every trip to Vickram's is an intriguing one, Vickram's guests are looked after by a team of friendly and hospitable staff, who concentrate on making sure that their guests enjoy their time and experience the unique gastronomical adventure in Vickram's style.

INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY VICKRAM'S RESTAURANT
Article compiled by EatLovePray
I had a great time here. No wonder they are crowded all the time and it's advisable to book a table on advance. This is one of the best places to have lunch today, you really are a food buff. Brilliant service, without any delays and very humble staff who is always there to attend to you. Food quality is amazing and the drinks are good. Prawns and fish are well cooked in starters and butter chicken and chicken korma are super and very tasty , Make sure you have space for the amazing variety of after dinner drinks and hot coffee for this winter,

We got surprised when my wife got beautiful gift from Vikarm Restaurant side and make Mother Day special , will sure come again and recommend to other also,

Overall Review:

Presentation: 4.5/5

Service: 4.5/5

Taste: 5/5

Value for Money: 5/5
Nevan
Found nothing but disappointment in the food. Lacks flavor, quality and both chicken/lamb dishes, the meat was dry/overcooked. This is not indian food, this was protein arranged in a sauce or rice dish. Lacks cohesiveness of proper Indian food.
Sandra Hill
We popped in after work for a take-away. The service by Ravi was friendly, helpful and informative. There were lovely, fresh Pakora potato snacks to try on the counter - delicious! The restaurant looked clean and well-staffed. The curries we had were hot and delicious although the rice was a little bit cold. The chicken korma was sweet and mild (8/10) and the butter chicken was warm and hearty (9/10). The portions were also rather big and the food was very filling. The roti and chickpea naan was also tasty. Overall a very satisfying meal!
Tessa Wagner
This place just has the most magnificent curry! Very reasonably priced & fantastic value for money. We always get 2 meals out of an order so perfect for dinner & lunch. Definitely a favorite and highly recommend

Hi, we were at Vikrams Lonehill the other evening. What a lovely, special place to enjoy a quiet evening to share with family and friends. Their service is awsome. Delicious food and the management and waiters are so helpful, courteous and friendly. I love the atmosphete
Neil Smith
If you are in the mood for awesome authentic Indian this is well worth the visit. Always friendly and the food is consistently good. We have been there about 5 times and always leave satisfied. Ask for their signature dish they inly make about 20 of these a day, you will not be disappointed
Robert Visser
Best Indian restaurant in Joburg, offering quality food and a unique experience. The stuffed paratha is such a great compliment to the lamb dishes. Ultimately I would like to try every dish on the menu...
Tarryn Drabble
Great curries and fantastic service! Clean friendly. Well worth the late afternoon lunch. Will be stopping by again for another meal, lunch or dinner.

Any-day is curry day for me !! I have always ordered and visited the Vikrams in Dainfern and today I thought I could give the Lonehill a try ...
I ordered Lamb Tikka Masala for delivery ... The meal was delivered quick enough but the rice was strangely cold ..
I ordered Lamb Tikka Masala "Hot" and it's definitely "Hot"!
I found the flavors to be just okay for me as I paid more attention to the spiciness of the dish .
The lamb pieces were very few however the few that I found and tasted were tender .
Perhaps next time I can try their chicken and fish dishes "medium" so I can actually taste the flavors of the curry ..
Overall an okay meal ..

The food was amazing, the service was outstanding and it resulted an all round great experience at this restaurant. I would definitely recommend coming here.
Lee Merton
I really love this place. Excellent service, great food and the best naan in Johannesburg. Had barely ordered and the food was ready in quick time. Highly recommended!
Michella Ferreira Pellegrino
I would say Vikrams needs a major revamp to add some light and Sense of cleanliness about it. The food on the other hand is just above average, but not wow. We ordered the samosas, chicken 4/10, vegetarian 7/10 Paneer 10/10. The pastry of the samosas were quite oily and thick. Presentation wise the veggies used should have been fresher. For mains we had chicken makhani 7/10, Bombay potato 10/10, chicken biriyani 8/10, and prawn curry 2/10 as they were small and were not meaty in texture. Overall extremely small quantities for mains, except the biriani.
Niran Zur
Best Indian cuisine experience in JHB. Authentic North Indian kitchen, clever use of spice, Friendly service and a wide range of the favorites. Highly recommended.
Niki
Beautiful restaurant, great authentic vibe, amazing food. Had my birthday there once, Vikrams went above and beyond to make it special. Our absolute favourite restaurant. My personal favourites are the prawn korma and the burfi icecream. Love love love.
Nicholas Jens Karlsen
This is by far my favourite Indian restaurant in Johannesburg. The service always friendly and the food is excellent. In fact I order for tomorrow's lunch too😋

Updating this.
Wow. What a fantastic meal. I absolutely without hesitation highly recommend vikrams. The food here is phenomenal.
Veruschka Jose Bryant
A little hidden gem in the Lonehill Shopping centre. Vikram's has been in business (under a different name) for over 10years and it is consistently good. Try the Chilli Chicken on the starter menu. This dish should really be a main and probably a signature dish. Don't let the unimaginative name put you off ordering it. You will be ever grateful you did. Order it with garlic naan and you are in the pound seats. Vikram's also makes an outstanding Paneer Palak - a dish I usually avoid due to how variable a particular restaurant's version can be. This version will not disappoint.
Carol Hayes
I would say it was nice...not really my vibe but the food wasn't bad. The service was really good. Would reccomend it to people who enjoy the spicy side of life.
Warwick
Service was excellent, food was delicious and portion size was more than adequate. The meals prices are really cost effective as current restaurants go definitely will come back. Good job guys!!!
Chiara Kotze
Always a delicious meal at Vikrams! Tasty lamb Korma and garlic naan bread. We have been here a few times and always good service and tasty food.
Morgana Robbertze
I was a bit skeptical as I haven't been to Vikrams before. But the take away we got was EXCELLENT! I would recommend to anyone who loves their Indian food. One of the best places in the area. Yummy!
Fatima Kamrudin Mamod
Gorgeous quaint place tucked away..the set up is absolutely mesmerising loved it..the food was average though I was expecting to be blown away based on the reviews I read..I had the tikka masala chicken and it really was average..
Stephen Chapman
I get takeaways from Vikram's and they are always delicious. I enjoy a good biryani and they deliver. Always very friendly and expedient. I haven't sat down for a meal there but their decor is very pretty and welcoming. Since I discovered this gem I haven't bothered to venture further for Indian cuisine.
Adam W
My fiance and I, being fond of curry, went to Vikrams and came away most pleased. Her paneer makhani and my chicken tikka curry were delicious, the sesame naan went well with the curry, and the service was pleasant, and not overbearing. The decor is lovely, with my only downside being that the full desert menu was not available. Rather empty on the night, I hope Vikrams gets more business.
Angie
Food was awesome, fresh and tasty! Restaurant decor is funky and the restaurant is clean... Overall a great experience! Will definitely go back!
Chante Daries
This place is simply exquisite. From the vibrant decor to the food. It was just such a lovely experience. I will definitely be going back because it is probably the best Indian food I have had in a very long time. The decor made me feel like a child in a circus. It was so colourful and playful. So beautiful.
Brenda Van Der Au
have lost count of how times that I have eaten here and have never had a bad experience, always consistent, great menu and awesome cuisine, incredibly good service, very accommodating and friendly, reasonable prices, a definite must 😄
The Pretoria Explorer
I loved it. Traditional Indian food at its best. There's no one who knows Indian food better than me since it's my authenticity. And I tell you the Indian traditional spice is just highlighted in this good good food... we had the starter platter for two and it's quite a bit. The variety and taste of each thing blew me away, and the chicken botti was cooked to perfection in this variety starter. The butter chicken was absolutely divine and the rogni naan kept me going back for more and more after each bite! Soft, tasty and buttery together with a wholesome curry 🍛.. thanks 🙏🏻 oh and just by the way I didn't expect to get the best Bloody Mary at an Indian restaurant 👌💪
Krinisha Kara
Wow!!! Had my mum's birthday lunch here. It was such a treat. The service was excellent. The food was superbly flavoured as Indian tends to taste the same throughout all the Indian restaurants. When it was time for the birthday cake to be cut, our waiter helped us set up the cakes and the manager played an Indian version of Happy Birthday while the rest of the staff started doing the Bhangra. There's a lovely swing outside that catches the sun. The day ended off with the manager wishing my mum and gifting her an authentic Indian scarf. It was very special and the restuarant put in a lot of effort.
Dinika Singh
I literally went here twice in one week because that is how tasty the food is! The place is very authentic, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food…… omg the food….. wow. Probably my new favourite Indian restaurant. I had the prawn curry and it was divine. I immediately booked the following week to take my parents as I knew they would love it too. Great place! Will definitely be back.
Mark Ferrari
I have enjoyed every curry that I have ordered from here.... you probably will too 😊 ..... the chicken and lamb curry is de-boned, which is great 😀

This emblazoned restaurant is rather prepossessing. As soon as we walked in it felt like we were transported to another world. It is warm and inviting.
The service was average, however the host was a charming fellow who made me feel even more special on my birthday. I love Indian food! To me, it is so much more than just comfort food as many Westerners, or those who have not grown up with those dishes label it as.

I tend to stick to the same dishes at Indian restaurants though (Dal Makhani or Lamb Korma with Peshwarni Naan-- all mild), obviously not because i dislike Indian cuisine and only enjoy two dishes, but because the two mentioned are my all time favourites, and they never fail to hit my craving.
I went with the Kamb Korma, the flavour was complex, oscillating between spicy, sweet and savoury, and the lamb was oh so tender.
The rest of the table tried different dishes ranging from Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma to Lamb Gosht Padami, no complaints and everybody enjoyed their choices.

Food: 4/5
Decor: 5/5
Service: 3/5
Ambiance: 2.5/5 (unfortunately it was extremely quite, i feel more comfortable when a restaurant is at least 50% full)

I can't wait to go back!

I had heard good reviews recently about Vikram's so decided to give them a try since my last visit which was a few years ago. It is conveniently situated in Lonehill Boulevard. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and when the waiter served it, he mentioned that it was chicken tikka masala. So I did not give it further thought and commenced with eating my meal. After a few mouthfuls, I could not miss the distinct sweet creamy taste that is usually associated with butter chicken. I mentioned this to the waiter and he agreed that the dish looked more like butter chicken than children tikka masala. He took the dish back to the kitchen and returned 5 mins later with another dish and no explanation. The 2nd dish contained about 4 tiny pieces of chicken. Needless to say, the meal was an absolute disappointment and there was no sign of the manager who had made an appearance earlier on. Such a shame as we will never go back.

Always love visiting Vikrams, but not for the diet concious! Great food, great service, huge portions and an all-round great dining experience. Love this place!

I had heard so much about this restaurant and so I finally went. It's a very beautiful restaurant, very different and full of culture. They play Indian music throughout - they even have an Indian version of a Happy Birthday song that they play which I loved! Positives:! The food is delicious. We started with mince samosas followed by lamb curry and prawn curry. I would suggest only ordering 1 curry as it comes with a pot of rice which can actually be shared. Needs improving: there was a vast selection of alcohol but the wine was from the box which was very confusing.

Very good indeed, always had a negative view on indian restaurants being a bit overly priced, however my last 3 visits to indian restaurants with Vikrams being my 3rd, i am officially hooked, the depth of flavour pumped out by the Indian master blenders really get your tastebuds racing.Thank you for a fantastic flavour packed meal.

Best Indian food outside of India. I drive from Morningside to Lonehill to get my fix - their butter chicken being my favorite. And if that's not good enough they always have yummy treats for one to try while while waiting for your food.

Easily one of the best Indian restaurants in Johannesburg! The food is superb, service pleasant and well complimented by a relaxed yet vibrant venue. A definite must for the avid Curry fiend. You can't go wrong with the Chicken Korma or Lamb Gosht Badami options. These served with a side of crispy garlic or butter naan rounds off what is a truly authentic Indian food experience.

Thank you to the staff at Vikrams, they made our dining experience extra special with great food (compliments to the chef), excellent service, a special birthday song, gift and in all just going the extra mile. The food is beautiful and presented well - from the veg curries to the paratha and not forgetting the mango lassi. It was a super amazing evening.

My all time favourite curry spot! The chicken korma curry is a must have with butter naan bread! I found that the chicken was so succulent and tasty! The portions are very large and great for sharing.

Food was absolutely delicious! I had flu at the time and the warm spices cleared my sinuses up.
The service was very good and prices are reasonable.
The ambiance was perfect, matched by the stylish decor.

Absolutely love Vikrams. Their lamb korma is difficult to beat, especially in Fourways. The vibe is always relaxed and the service is friendly:)

One of the better tasting North Indian food around in Joberg. Service a little slow however food is delicious in the vegetarian or meat menu. Normally do the makhnee or tikka sauces and it's always good.
Ordered something different on this occasion and was pleasantly surprised on the melting in your mouth experience.
The malai kofta is a Indian cottage cheese and potato mixed with cashew nuts and saffron cooked in creamy white gravy accompanied with classic butter naan. This dish is best served hot and far surpasses any korma type curry I have had anywhere. The consistency of sauce, paneer, and potato is just right with full of flavour. The portion is just right with naan bread as well as a bit of rice to finish of the awesome tasting sauce dipped in cashews.
Offcause the food is expensive at Vikrams but then quality comes at a price. I've never been disappointed with a single meal at Vikrams and have been eating there for years. The manager and staff are very accommodating and professional with an excellent understanding of customer experience. Whether one is ordering take -away or a dine in meal, you are made to feel special. Eating out is after all about a complete experience and Vikrams both appreciate that and execute it very well.

Food was absolutely incredible, our waiter was a little slow and unable to help with questions about the menu. The manager was extremely helpful however.

I'm not normally a fan of north indian cuisine but I was in the mood for something different. Had the tandoori chicken. Was tender, flavorful and delicious. Also had the yellow dhal and garlic naan. Everything was super fresh and very tasty. Worth a visit.

Once again Vikrams didn't disappoint.
Food was exceptional and authentic. 6 people, 6 different dishes, all very fresh, from mild to hot to very hot.
Decor very much in keeping with the Indian theme.
Wine by the glass is out of the box - not great.
All in all great meal!
Was so excited to eat here as I love Indian flavours and tastes. Was a little disappointed in the Tandoori starter as it was very dry and a little over cooked. The Madras and Butter chicken was truly divine however.

If you're looking for amazing Indian food in the suburbs, Vikrams is where it's at. Though I've never dined-in my family has been ordering takeaway from them for years and we've never once been disappointed. Everything on their menu is fragrantly delicious, and their piping hot butter naan will always be one of my favorites. Their service is fast and friendly, and their prices are pretty reasonable. Definitely worth a visit for those nights when you're looking to indulge in takeout.

Great Indian restaurant! Warm and welcoming and the most delicious lassi. If you want a veg curry with a little bit of everything: veg, potatoes and paneer in a spicy creamy gravy - try the Vegetable Jalfrezi. The butter chicken was great too. The naans are soft and a perfect accompaniment with the curries.
Lisa
Vikrams Indian restaurant looks amazing and makes you feel like you in the middle of India. Manager kept warning me that they make hot curries so I ordered mild and it was very bland. Needed extra heat. Food is mediocre, very expensive for what you actually end up with. Not value for money!

Rather on the more expensive side, but Vikrams has such tasty food!! Absolutely love their curries and have tried quite a few! Their naan is also great and service is so polite and professional. A gem in the Lonehill area!

Without a doubt the best Indian cuisine in Joburg. Decor lends itself to the ideal Indian culinary experience. Try the onion bhajiya with any meal... You won't regret it.

My second visit to Vikrams and the second time I ordered the mixed veg curry (asked for no dairy), medium with both soft and crispy rotis on the side.

The food was really good, as was the service. It's a lovely spot in Summer where you can sit outside and watch the sun go down while you enjoy your early dinner with a glass of wine.

I need to give our waiter top marks for service and I will definitely be back again, especially because the Entertainer app has a buy one main meal get one free. Totally worth it!

I can't handle spicy food very well, so Indian cuisine is a rare treat for me. The mutton roti rolls are absolutely divine, big, succulent chunks of lamb, soft potatoes and spices so unique... I would travel long and far for these rotis!

I have heard that Vikram's is one of the best restaurant of Johannesburg, sadly that was before I went there.
I wasn't too impressed. Service was very poor.. Everything seemed " trying too hard" to me. There's a big room for improvement especially in the service area. I booked a buffet for 17 person and they were unable to serve only for 17 person. The way of serving food in buffet was showing their example of poor service.
