Review Eagles Fare Restaurant - Roodepoort

Lovely restaurant but majority of the food in the menu was not available. The wait for the food to be prepared was longer but the portions are big enough for the price offered. I think they should introduce more seats outside because the restaurant was busy during the weekend. Waiters were polite and served with a smile on the face, they were really nice. The food was average, so the coffee.

Food is delicious, generous portions and affordable too. I ordered a pasta dish and the pasta was handmade, fresh ingredients used.

For the first time,in a restaurant, I had the most authentic cocktail ever! Ordered Crème Brûlée for dessert...oh my. The setup is original...but I enjoyed my drink and food after a long productive hike. ☺

We had the most amazing wedding there today! Everyone treated us like family and they made our day even more perfect. The food was amazing and the cheesecake is the best of the best! Thank you, thank you, thank you for an incredible day!

Food was delicious. Excellent and friendly service. Restaurant was very busy but we did not have to wait long for our food. This restaurant has definitely become a family favorite

Situated as it is, in one of the most beautiful Botanical Gardens in Gauteng, it is a given that you would sit outside to continue to enjoy the natural beauty with your meal. Service was friendly and relatively quick, with the food being well presented and tasty. There was a little wait for our food, but that's to be expected as everything was freshly prepared and made to order. It's also family friendly with a large play area for the kids while the adults can relax and socialise. A great alternative if you decide not to picnic on the grounds with meals well priced.

Eagles fare is by far one of the best venues I have had the privilege to experience, the food was amazing, the staff are so helpful and awesome under pressure and the atmosphere is home away from home. Thanks for making our special day perfect!!!

Was a weekend thing. Large party- yet service was good . Food arrived timeously. Prices are really reasonable and I love my pork schnitzel.

What a amazing little gem, food was amazing! And the best is their home made ginger beer

My family and I love to pop in at Eagles Fare whenever we visit the Gardens. The food and service is excellent.

Our food was beautifully presented and super tasty. We had a great waiter who obviously enjoyed his job. Loved the new menu it was tasty, modern and served at the right temperature. Well done.

I had the wonderful opportunity to have my wedding done by Eagle's Fare. Beautiful setting, absolutely great food and amazing staff who just rolled with the punches to make my amazing day a reality!

The most friendly staff, making for a lovely lunch experience.

Nestled within the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, Eagles Fare serves up light lunches and tea time treats.

We were a table of 4. We had first ordered our drinks and then our food. Food did take quite some time to arrive and is nothing extraordinary. I had ordered the chicken and mayo tramezzini. The chicken was still cold on the inside and the bread was not well toasted.

The atmosphere and staff definitely make up for the food served.

The setting is in the middle of the gardens and really is the perfect spot for breakfast or lunch on a sunny day. We went for breakfast and I opted for a trammezini, which was great. Service could have been better but the weather and company was good so we didn't mind waiting a little longer.

Tried this restaurant after a lovely hike. The staff at this establishment are hands on and work very well as a team. The service and the food were good. Chilled establishment at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens.

How do you justify R18 for a tablespoon of cheese served with your muffin? This can only be described as theft! Never again. Used to be a great place for a meal in the gardens. Obviously changed hands

Honestly I wasn't planning on stopping by but my best friend was hungry so we did. Big mistake. I was just put off by the waiters who were standing around and didn't attend to us at all. Instead the one lady assumed me just wanted to use the toilet. Hmm we finally sat down and sat and sat. Finally a male waiter came and apologized, I just didn't vibe with the guy maybe it's coz I was already put off. Ordered a chicken mayo tramezzini. Took a good 30-45 mins. The waiter would bring the folks, later our drinks, then sauce, I think he did this to distract us (didn't work). Finally the food came annnnd No fries. Really thought it came with fries but once again (what did I expect). The view and location is amazing but the restaurant is a NO from me. Rather carry your own lunch even a sandwich from Caltex up the road will do.

Absolutely amazing. Food was GREAT! The atmosphere of the entire restaurant SUPERB and our server Quentin was the cherry on the cake. He made our experience to notch. He shared jokes with us and was absolutely BRILLANT!
My family and I will definitely will returning there soon!

Worst service literally waited 30 minutes for our food. The waiter on the other hand did not even explain what was the reason. Great spot but not the service!!!!

Had a delicious Hadeda breakfast (mince, chilli, cheese on French toast) after a hike through the botanical gardens. The service was brilliant - the waiters were engaging and had great sense of humour.

We went there for the Sunday lunch buffet. There was a great variety and the food was really delicious with fantastic service.
The servers were always at hand, helpful and friendly.
The setting is awesome, we went for a walk to the waterfall to settle our food before indulging in the delicious dessert.
Thanks for an all round wonderful experience.

Great spot for our office party! Food was great 🍴 and the close proximity to the waterfall...best part. Drink service was a bit slow, but there was another office party going on, so that can be forgiven.

Really the only pick until you picnic but the food was tasty pub grub. I liked that it had decent options for vegetarians too. The service was fast the the waiter super tentative.

What an amazing spot - they totally have perhaps one of the most beautiful spots around and they are so not using it to the absolute best of their abilities .. The menu is too big for casual diners who are there to enjoy the gardens, the service is very slow - this was mid morning during the week so not busy .. waiters are friendly. We ordered drinks and tea and scones and my worst is a heated scone - if it is fresh there is no need but this was not great - with runny cream and not enough jam .. They should do a smaller selection with fresh salads and sandwiches & fabulous home made cakes .. what more do you want when you are outdoors in the beautiful, sunny gardens !

Great atmosphere in beautiful surroundings. Service extremely slow and food very average. To cap it off, it takes ages to get the food apparently due to being under staffed

What a lovely Sunny Sunday afternoon in Johannesburg. This restaurant is situated in the heart of the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens surrounded by our own flora and fauna. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere however service is slow. The food is moderate and mainstream too ordinary and lacked sodium , However good effort.
Tersea Gouws
What a thoroughly pleasant discovery! Delicious, high quality food, excellent service, beautiful views - green chicken curry, carnivore basket and more. Highly recommended!

Nice location but disorganized. The food was average and it took over an hour to arrive. On top of that three of the four meals arrived and then it took another fifteen minutes to get the fourth meal.

I had a lovely Beef burger and chips there today. A nice restaurant in an actual gardens.

Always a nice spot for breakfast. The food and the service are always good, the view is great and you can spend a lot of time outdoors before or after with a nice walk or a hike

Came here with colleagues after a morning hike @ Walter Sisulu so we were super hungry, only to be disappointed by the slooow service or lack thereof as we were ignored for a long time or was it because we were a bit sweaty from the workout? The experience only got worse from there as one of the ladies was served rotten steak which was covered in lots of sauce to hide the unmissable funky taste. The manager offered us ANOTHER piece of steak to make up for that one (how ironic). All I can say is that I'm not coming back here again ever. Don't wanna risk getting food poisoning. You've been warned!

After stopping at Eagle's Fare in the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden on Saturday morning for a burger, I was most impressed with both their food offerings and service. Our waiter, Richard was incredibly attentive and polite.

Full review and photos to follow soon...

Had a great pre-hike "snack" with the ever-adventurous Lauras World this morning.
I had the spinach and feta burger with mushrooms and chips, which was really delicious while being a great alternative to the usual veggie options offered by most restaurants. The coffe wasn't the best though, so it ma be best to go for a cappuccino. I'll definitely be back to try the brinjal burger - or an omelette. Or maybe a tremezzini? I guess I'll be hiking again soon then...

Terrible service! Waited over 20 minutes to get our drinks! Then had another waiter come to us with the drinks telling us that our waitress wanted to know if we're ready to order! Like are you joking?! If I could rate this place 0 out of 5 I would!

If you're looking for homely Afrikaans style cooking after a great walk at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens then this is the spot.

If you're looking for something more discerning and delicious... Try something else.

I was a little disappointed with the food here. The ribs were the only thing I would eat if I had to but I'd prefer to not eat here.

Lovely location, good food, trout was overdone, sent it back and it came back perfectly cooked. The roast potatoes are really good as is the Sunday buffet lunch
