Went here on 13.01.2018 for my wife's birthday. 15 out of 10 for service and food. We absolutely loved this place. I will def recommend it. This place ticks ALL the boxes and has a brilliant atmosphere. Well done guys, best Mexican food on this continent!!
Love it, me and my fiancé went there on Thursday evening. Place was busy and so full with the best vibe always. The food was really good this time and love the new jelapeno croquettes... also thanks to our waiter and danny for making sure everything was on point. See you guys soon

First time there yesterday for lunch... Very quiet so service was quick... The only thing that was troubling it took 3 people a whole 40 mins to figure out what we wanted to eat just because everything sounded so amazing... Manager greeted and staff were friendly... Will definitely consider this place for good place for good food and drinks... Just remember the bloody Maria is tequila not vodka!!!
I have lived in London for 7 years and spend alot time visiting around Europe and not once have I experienced such an amazing Mexican restaurant,this will definitely be the first place I recommend to all my friends visiting me ,thank you La Rosa for a fabulous evening���

This review is weeks overdue, but based on the excellent and attentive service from the Waitstaff, and the Chef himself, as well as the scruptuous food, I could not let this dining experience (and review) slip through the cracks!
We had such a wonderful time at La Rosa! I went with a friend of mine, who has a severe intolerance (read: HATE) to coriander, and often battles eating at Mexican Restaurants because the kitchen will not accommodate on the coriander issue, which is ridiculous. More often than not, she leaves starving and wildly unhappy. But La Rosa's Chef and team, were so incredibly obliging and thoughtful, the extra effort that made to provide fresh guacomole (without coriander!), as well as some sharing plates (with tacos) that were made for her specifically was just so wonderful.
Every plate and every bite was delicious! The service was impeccable, and the drinks were rather fantastic too!
Thank you La Rosa - you've made two loyal customers for life!

This place is a new fav, the staff was kind. Very friendly manager and great food! Definitely going back, the portions are large and fit for sharing. Would definitely recommend for romantic and family dates!
We've been wanting to eat here for a while. Wonderful atmosphere, beautiful layout and decor, friendly staff, excellent service, great food! Enjoyed the prawn fajitas. The nachos was very tasty, best I've had in a long time. Kids enjoyed the dessert. Loved every minute of the Mexican experience!

We ordered two takeaway naked bowls -see photo for details - as we did not have time to enjoy our meals at the restaurant. Both with Refried Beans which we love and have had many times before. What a disappointment when we started eating at home! Firstly the bowl with the quinoa did not have the Pico de Gallo. And to add insult to injury the Refried Beans were extremely salty - so much so that they were virtually inedible. In the past we have always had very good experiences so this time it was such a letdown. 😣

07.09.2019 You know I love all things Mexican, so when friends suggested we have lunch at La Rosa after attending a festival I was more than happy. I've been to their other 2 branches and heard good things about this one as it's the first one. On arrival I LOVED the decor, it's got such a vibe to it. The painting on the ceiling is just gorgeous as is their bar area.
Our waiter Owen was fantastic, great service and a fun sense of humour. I ordered the frozen Pineapple Jalapeno Margarita, which is always a winner, followed by a trio of Fish Tacos. Juicy and tasty I could have eaten a few more... It would be nice to be able to mix and match tacos like ordering 1 beef, 1 chicken 1 fish... hint hint for future reference. But I was fine with the 3 fish ones 😁
My friends ordered the soft shell crab Taco and that's definitely on my list to try next time and one of the bowls. My sis had a prawn taco.
Since we still had time to kill we ordered dessert. I ordered the Churros without ice cream and my sis took the Tres Leches cake. I absolutely enjoyed my Churros. Probably the best ones I've had to date. Perfectly fried crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and it wasnt doughy and tasted really good. My sis however was a bit disappointed with the cake.
Must give this place a try, it was definitely worth the drive.

Went out for drinks with friends. Loved the Mexican vibe and cozy atmosphere. We had cocktails and a small bite. The Nachos and quesadillas was really tasty and flavorful! Would definitely visit La Rosa again!
Great place. Only had some Tropical Margarita (frozen cocktails). Melusi, our waiter, was very friendly. The vibe is funky and modern inside, along with smoking facilities outside.
This was one of the first Mexican spots that i've thoroughly enjoyed. The food is great and the portions are really good as well. The staff are friendly and hospitable although service could overall be better. I would say the best part is the variety of tequila on the menu. In conclusion, this is a great spot to hang out with friends. I would definitely return.
My favorite spot! Best Mexican food, I’ve never left disappointed... I always have the Baja tacos, they are just the best and I always end my meal off with the churros of course. Never a cheap outing but the food is always so tasty and the ingredients always fresh. They also make the best nachos... took my hubby last night to celebrate his bday and had a wonderful meal as always, we had Lorraine serve us she defiantly wasn’t the friendliest or the most enthusiastic but the yummy food makes up for it. Will continue to visit this gem! :)
We had an amazing girls night out. La Rosa has the best vibe in town. The manager and waiter was attentive and made amazing recommendations. Definitely try the turkish delight tequila.
I only have great things to say about this place. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The decor in the restaurant is amazing and every dish I’ve tried thus far was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Exciting place with loads of tequila (if you are a fan), the service is always good with friendly waiters. The food is something else, a persnal favorite is the lamb meatballs and a frozen coctail to go with it.

A fantastic restaurant with authentic Mexican meals and drinks. It is in a class of its own, well above other Mexican franchises we have in SA. Obviously this means it is pricier than those restaurants, but the food is well worth it!
I had a house margarita and lamb tacos, which I enjoyed tremendously! Others in my party had prawn fajitas, chicken fajitas, and white sangria, which they all enjoyed! We also loved our desserts: churros with chocolate ice-cream. I definitely recommend this fantastic restaurant! The service and decor are just as great as the food ?
What a find! Was in the area by chance and saw La Rosa standing tall from the intersection. Decided to give it a chance as I recalled seeing it in here with a good rating. What a surprise. The service was top notch with knowledgeable waiter who offered to give us a run down of the menu.
Tried the calamari and chorizo starter and was delicious. Had the pork nacho and it was good too.
What made the service stand out was that my partner has some food intolerances and the waiter was extremely helpful and even brought her a sample of the chicken to make sure she was happy with her choice. They deserve 4.5. Will definitely be back to explore the menu.
A pleasant surprise on my first outing to this great Mexican restaurant.
The Nachos were great as a starter. I really enjoyed the Carnitas Supremos burrito. Large amount of pork in this burrito with a great sauce as well.

Overall good setting, staff very friendly. From your time of welcome at the door receiving a warm reception and welcome. Over and above we had such great service from our waitress, good ambience and our food was Great!!. Will definitely be back sometime soon again.

The atmosphere here is very festive and fun. You have the option to wear giant colorful Mexican hats provided by the restaurant.
The last time I came I had corn poppers, a naked burrito bowl with burrito vegetable mix, and churros for dessert.
The poppers were very interesting. They had an unusual tasty texture and crunchiness.
The burrito bowl wasn't bad at all, but next time I'm going to order a set menu item for mains instead of creating my own.
The churros were my favourite part of the trip. They were absolutely delicious and exactly what I had in mind.

Everyone talks about Salsa....I have been to both Salsa Fourways and La Rosa in Weltervreden Park.
For me La Rosa wins by a mile, hands-down!...for real Mexican flavoured dishes and real taste, their dishes are much better, service a lot better as well.
I suppose if you want to go out drinking at Salsa then you cant really taste the bland veggies Mexican style.....go for it!...but if you still sober and want good fresh food with flavour - La Rosa's the place.
Good service and good food. Their burritos are great and you can order a 'wet' (with cheese on top) or 'dry' one. My friends have tried their salads and various starters and only have good things to say.

I cant seem to find the Monte Casino branch so just adding the review here. But wow really giving Salsa a run for their money. When it comes to a choice of the festive Mexican tequilas maybe Salsa is the place although I must say I loved the Skull glasses we got our margaritas in at La Rosa but when it comes to food I think La Rosa might have it and that's coming from a huge Salsa fan. I loved the décor at the Monte Casino branch - was really festive and unique. The bar area is very vibey and the staff were on the ball. Nothing much to complain about here. Didn't hear the greatest reviews before I went but I think this branch has definitely raised their game because it was a great evening out with the girls
Went to La Rosa for lunch. The problem with Mexican restaurants in South Africa is that they are actually Tex-Mex and not authentic Mexican.
This was not the case at La Rosa. The food prepared and served is authentic Mexican. Ordered the Ranchero Enchiladas and received a well prepared meal. The claim of using only fresh ingredients is not a empty promise.
The food was tasty and the accompanying salsa was delicious. For lovers of Mexican food take the detour to Weltevreden Park it is well worth the effort.

*Review for La Rosa Montecasino*
The Mexican word fiesta means party and that’s just how I would describe my evening at the opening of La Rosa Mexican Grille and Tequileria in Montecasino. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with sombreros and El Jimador frozen margaritas. What better way to start the evening?!
Everything about La Rosa is authentically Mexican, the beautifully crafted Mexican-inspired murals etched into the walls and the festive atmosphere made us feel as if we had been magically transported to Cancun or Mexico City.
With a tequileria bar that boasts the very widest range of 100% Agave Tequila we were taken on a tequila tasting journey. Starting from the un-aged Blanco to the Extra Añejos aged 3-5 years in oak barrels. Our barman took us through the true Mexican way of drinking tequila – following each tequila with a chaser of Sangrita, made from a blend of tomato, orange and lime juices and hot spices. This was quite the change for those of us used to drinking tequila shots with the obligatory lime and salt.
A sage piece of advice which I will hang onto is, “You must respect the tequila. It treats you the same way you treat it, if you aggressively slam it back, it will get mad and return the favour.” Something I’m sure we can all relate to.
With stories and conversation beginning to flow as they usually do after a few rather potent tequilas, we sat down to a real Mexican feast. From nachos to tacos, our taste buds were tingling with every kind of flavour prepared by Executive Chef Herbert Pizer. The Oaxacan Lamb Barbacoa – slow roasted lamb shoulder in adobo, pickled red onion with feta cheese and salsa verde is an absolute winner! I’m already planning a return visit just for these.
Things were in full swing with Dia de los Muertos face painting and of course more tequilas and margaritas as dessert was served. After trying out so many dishes, we had to make room for some Churros. Decadent fried pastry, cinnamon sugar and salted caramel. No Mexican dining experience is complete without these.
It is no wonder that La Rosa was named the 2017 Best of Joburg – Best New Restaurant. It is an absolute feast and just the spot to indulge in some serious Mexican magic that will leave you with “Barriga llena, corazón contento.” A fully belly and a happy heart.

What a wonderful place! Loved it. We went there for a ladies night and although it was a bit noisy initially, it was FANTASTIC. The food is amazing, the vibe is amazing, the decor is to die for and we got hats - which make for great photo opportunities. I will most certainly visit again. Loved it.
Great mexican vibe and music. Great Tequila and awesome spicy food. Chilli con Carne is a big sweater if you enjoy hot food. Think about Mexico and all the different flavours amd smells. Oh and dont forget the tequila.

Tacos to start, a little on the dry side. Wet burrito alsoa little dry inside but plenty of sauce around the burrito and was very tasty. Large portion so be hungry, ice cream for dessert. Frozen margaritas were excellent. Friendly and helpful watroms. Price reasonable.

Baja fish taco's (quite flavorsome), prawn fajita's and make your own burrito . We had a very confused waiter, kept on getting our orders wrong.

Finally, a Mexican spot with a vibe, good food and delicious frozen margaritas. And my friend finally took me out to celebrate my birthday - 2 months late, but anyway. We had an awesome evening. We had the mango jug, nachos with chicken and lamb tacos. Our waiter was always there when we needed him and the food was delicious. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit or 2 or 3.
The service is always great at La Rosa. The burritos served the wet way with melted cheese should be illegal they are that delicious. Upstairs is super noisy so not great if planning a catch up session with friends. Downstairs is a little less noisy with a great ambience.

Decided to try La Rosa last night after driving past a while ago, I was not disappointed at all.
The venue has been redone beautifully, atmosphere and decor is stunning, which made me wonder if the food would live up to my expectations.
We had the lamb tacos and the pork burrito, the lamb was phenomenal and the burrito was great. Frozen Margarita jug went down really well with dinner, the only let down was the infused Tequila, I would not try the Strawberry mint one again, the others are ok, but Salsa Mexicana still has the upper hand in this department.
The Churros where the best I have had, and a must to end off the evening.
Overall great restaurant, good service which was surprisingly fast and fantastic food. We will definitely be returning soon!
Had lunch with my daughters today at this incredible restaurant. I love Mexican food and have tried a few in my time however La Rosa must be the best available in Gauteng. From the welcome by all the staff, the service, the design and ambience of the restaurant it was an incredible way to start. However the food was the highlight. We shared some Totopos. Jalapeno croquette, Aldondigas and Jalapeno croquette. We then had the taco carnita, burritos Pibil and the La Rosa Chile Special as main course. Obviously no visity to a decent Mexican restaurant can end without some Churros, light and crispy. Definitely on your culinary journey if you want or need to be educated and then enjoy Mexican delight.

My husband and I ordered a nacho starter to share, but the share option is huge so we were quite stuffed after that and ended up not having mains. Instead we skipped straight the the amazing churro dessert which is drenched in salted caramel. Oh my word, how finger licking tasty! the cocktail I had was also pretty rad.
Will definitely have to go back for proper mains... and those churros, hmmmmm.

I wish I could say that we've dined at La Rosa a few times, it just wouldn't be true. We've stopped by A LOT! For lunch a few times but mainly for dinner.
*Staff* Before we get into the food, the staff are basically family - I've noticed how attentive the waiters and managers are to all clients, even the lonely guy at the bar stopping by for a quick beer. Whatever it is you guys are doing - please don't stop - we love it!
*Food* I have my favourites, but with every visit I try something new. There is no other Mexican joint who can keep up with La Rosa's food - and I have tried a lot of Mexican places. Crunchy meals are crunchy, spicy food comes with a tasty bite - you really can't go wrong.
*Drinks* Looking for the best MARGARITA'S in town - this is where you find it. How about just Tequila??? They have an entire menu dedicated to Tequila!!!
*Special Requests* I hosted my fiance's birthday at La Rosa earlier this year. The manager and staff decorated an entire area upstairs just for us, place-settings snack bowls, jugs of margarita's and sombreros for all our guests. To top it off, it was a busy night, so the manager kept on eye on us when his stuff had to attend to other tables. To team who assisted me through the planning, right until the check came and our wobbly legs stumbled out - Thank you, you guys are amazing!

Last night a friend and I met up for a boozey dinner session.
After reading the reviews, and responses by management, I was interested to see what the experience would be like.
When I walked in, I was greeted by 2 gentlemen. I was directed up toward the balcony given my preferences. I would have preferred them to walk me to a table as they do have a host stand as you walk right in.
We tucked into bulldog Gin, the first one was served with cinnamon quills which added a delicious taste. The next 2 were served without, so a bit of consistency is needed there. The espressos are good too.
Cecilia was our waitress and she was great. Friendly, gave recommendations, did not bother us unnecessarily, came when we needed her. She was divine, and I would like management to send a good shout out to her.
I had the tacos, soft shell as I was told the hard shell breaks easily. It was good.
My friend had the beef fajita, and the beef was very tender.
We shared the churro for dessert and this was the highlight for me although very sweet, it was the perfect accompaniment to my espresso.
Decor is superb and they've put a lot of effort into the ambience. Music was also great.
While the food doesn't quite match up to Perron, it is still worth a go and a wonderful change to the West rand choices of restaurants .

I love this place. What's not to love? The decor is so cool. The drinks selection is excellent. I tried the jalapeño Margarita (amongst others). The food is delicious. Lovely for a night out with friends. My favourite has to be the beef Quesadilla. It will blow you away. The fillet is also pretty good, and the starter with calamari and chorizo. For dessert the fried pastry with ice cream ticked all the boxes. Will definitely be back again and again. Great service too!
This has to be one of my favorite restaurants and they make the best fillet. We celebrated my husbands birthday there, and the staff and manager were really accommodating. Great food, great ambience and excellent service. PS...leave the kids behind :)
I am seriously impressed by this place. The vibe is absolutely amazing and you feel like you are sitting in a joint ib mexico! The decor stuns you with visions of colorful art against the wall and ceilings, but we did not come for the setting but for tacos off course. Let me first start with the portion size, it is generous! Load of meat and other fillings you can hardly close the taco, my kind of place. We had the lamb taco, wow meaty, succulent lamb with the right amount of onion and radish to break the intensity of the lamb. Next we had the pollo maiz on recommendation of our waitress and what a wonderful choice! The chicken soft and moist, the corn and beans a perfect match - one of my favorites. Then we moved on to the carnitas, the filling was delicious, however the amount of liquid does not work wel wil the corn taco option as it completely broke apart. Well done guys and keep up the amazing energy!!!

La Rosa Mexican Grille based in Roodepoort, amongst other things has a stunning tequileria and everything from Kah (a personal favorite) to El Jimador to home brewed craft tequilas in a variety of flavours that they make themselves.
What I love about it: They allow you to drink your tequila and chase it with a refreshing sangrita (which is delicious). For me, this experience was a first!
Onto the food:
La Rosa Chile Especial Burrito: chile con carne, green rice, pico de gallo, cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
Baja Fish: beer battered hake, shredded cabbage, red onion and chipotle mayo.
Totopos: a basket of fresh corn tortilla chips, served with their house salsa.
Nachos Grande (for sharing): tortilla chips with melted cheese sauce, shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese and jalapeños with house salsa, guacamole, and crème fresca on the side.
Jalapeño Croqueta: cheddar mix, potato, panko crumbs, avo crema.
Albondigas: lamb meatballs, braising sauce and salsa verde.
And last but certainly not least..
Churros: fried Mexican pastry, cinnamon sugar and salted caramel add a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
I was thoroughly impressed on my first visit here last night.
*Recommendation: Not a franchise - tick. Not another "Tex Mex" offering - tick. This has my vote of confidence, and personally think that the West Rand is very lucky with this Mexican offering.

On Saturday afternoon I met with friends , whom have been raving about the place. The atmosphere was warm and loud , synonymous of Mexican restaurant.
Service was good, warm and friendly and attentive at the same it. Staff had good knowledge of menus and what worked well.

Visited the restaurant last night with my friends and I really enjoyed the vibe. The staff the catered to us when we arrived even though there were no tables available, the food was good and the drinks were awesome. This place is so cool. Decor is awesome and their menu has a big range at affordable prices. I had the beef short rib enchilada and it was amazing. Packed with flavour and acompanyied by the best refried beans I've had since I was in the states. Unfortunately the tacos were a bit dry though. Definitely worth a visit.
Very good food, pretty decent portions - more texmex than actual Mexican menu, but executed well. Staff were all super friendly and the atmosphere was good - very busy for a Wednesday evening. Tequila menu is extensive and cocktails tasted like they had a good measure of booze in them. Try the craft tequila - white chocolate & hazelnut was amazing.
Prices are on the steep side, particularly for drinks, but if you keep this place as an occasional treat, it's justifiable.
I'll be back sometime, for sure.

Now this has to be one of my favourite restaurants at the moment! I recommend that you come here with a group of friends, you will definitely have a great time.
This restaurant is hip and happening. I instantly fell in love with the decor of this place. They have unique skulls everywhere and a ceiling full of beer bottles.
As you wait for your waiter, you can wear a colourful sombrero. Once the waiter arrives, prepare to give your tastebuds a taste of tequila! I ordered a strawberry margarita that of course had hints of tequila in it. It was a unique take on a classic margarita both in taste and look as it came in a skull shaped glass!
In a Mexican restaurant, you just have to order nachos! We wanted to order our own nachos each, luckily we didn't. One serving is enough to feed two people. Let me just tell you, it was packed with flavour. It was cheesy, creamy, spicy and crunchy.
We couldn't leave without trying their indulgent caramel churros. It was just perfect!
Come to La Rosa and have yourself a Mexican Fiesta...
Enjoyed a meal and some tequilas for a farewell dinner.
Enjoyed the service, enchiladas, jalapeno croquetas and of course, their great variety of agaves.

I went to La Rosa with 30 of my friends to celebrate my 18th and it was amazing. The staff were so friendly and organised and the tables were decorated so nicely which was a great bonus. The margaritas were strong (yes please) and tasty and the nachos were the best part of my night! The music was good and the ambiance was intimate and warm. Big ups to you La Rosa! It was truly a wonderful night.
Very festive setting with friendly service. The menu is extensive, with something for all tastes. The food was tasty and well prepared. Make sure to book in advance. Overall a good night out.
Great Mexican option in Roodepoort. Service was good but the Manager was selective about which tables he checked up on. Opted to make our own Burritos and they were really well seasoned with a generous amount of filling. The Mexican Skirt Steak is a crowd pleaser. Beware of the Diablo Salsa, it is not for the faint hearted. The Churros that we ordered were a bit doughy but would have been a treat if they were cooked through.

We came here on a Saturday night, but unfortunately my friends didn't make a booking. We had to stand by the bar, but within an hour the waiters made a plan to find a table to seat us - which was AMAZING especially because we were a group of 10 and it was a busy Saturday night.
I ordered the hongos quesadilla, which was an excellent choice. I also tried some of my friends' nachos and burritos. The nachos were good, but the burrito was average.

A really great place to relax and have a chilled out session. This tequilaria has so many different types of tequila - fans are unlikely to be disappointed. The decor is amazing. Had the pineapple and coconut margarita - really delicious bonus is that it comes in a cool skull mug. Great nachos and chicken chowda soup. Service was average.
La Rosa is a welcoming restaurant. You hear the infectious tequila infused laughter wafting out as you walk up to it and can’t help but feel excited for the experience. We went as a group of 4 for a light meal and some drinks. The tropical margaritas were great .The strawberry and mango were favourites but we found the peach too sweet. We have to mention that they do not skimp on alcohol like so many other places. The R65 per cocktail was definitely worth it and we will not give up till we have tried them all!
For food we tried the chicken flautas (deep fried tortillas) , Pollo Pibil and nachos.
All of it was good but the Pollo Pibil or chicken tacos stole the show. The flour tortillas were the best we have eaten and had a unique taste, not the usual blandness we have come to expect from tortillas. The filling was a mixture of black beans, corn, onion and tender nuggets of grilled chicken with a light dressing.
We will definitely be returning with a larger appetite!
This is one of our favourite places. The atmosphere is always amazing and the staff friendly and helpful. The nachos are always a winner, more than enough for two people. Corn poppers are enjoyable albeit a bit pricey. The chicken enchilada last night was fantastic. Definitely a favourite. A great pre/during/post dinner shooter is the tio Juan tequila, sweet and strong but not overpowering. La Rosa never fails to impress. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

First time at La Rosa, we love Mexican food and have tried quite a few places in Jozie - but Las Rosa is head-and shoulders above the rest - quality of food, Service and the place.

Wow what a stunning little Mexican joint! The whole place has a bit of a party vibe going, specifically in the upstairs area by the bar. It's decor is fun and trendy and it was the perfect spot for my friends surprise bday party. Our group took over three large tables but the waiters were on the ball and the service was really good.
We had a variety of starters including their nachos which were really tasty. For mains I had the Carne Roja Enchiladas which were excellent; the meat was tender and everything was flavourful and yum. I especially loved the side of refried beans.
Overall it was a great experience, and the jugs of margaritas made the evening a fun and very drunk one. If it wasn't so far away from us poor saps in the east I'd definitely be back more often.
Fantastic food and exceptional service. We had the Baja fish taco (battered hake) and al pastor (pulled pork) taco with tequila to enhance all the flavours. Fish was flaky and pork nice and tender. We keep coming back to this vibey spot and it's not only for the tequila. The food is packed with flavor, the margarita packs a nice punch and the staff are really friendly. The soft shell tacos are the best I've had in Jozi. I love that it's not another offering of "Tex Mex". Looking forward to many more nights here.

I was so impressed with this restaurant.
The ambience, decor and general feel was just awesome. Clearly a lot of thought went into the smallest of details like the Frida pattern lining the booths and the stenciled patterns.
The drinks took a little while to arrive and the cocktails turned out to be stronger than your dad. The lady I was with simply couldn't stand a few sips and said it was way to strong. It seemed to be the general feeling by all the females at the table (just something to keep in mind).
The nachos were a hit at our table with 3 orders being placed and the portion size is big, really generous. I had the build you own burrito and was stoked to see they had the option on quinoa, the serving size was generous and loaded with protein leaving me happy.
I gave dessert a skip but the table seemed to favor the churros which looked and smelled great, the mexican flan seemed to be a bit of a disappointment.
Service was fine, overall a pleasant experience & a buzzing vibe. Presentation was stellar & cocktails served in skull glasses were a hit.
Awesome food loved the ambiance, service were great and pricing even better! Authentic Mexican food with a good variety to satisfy the taste buds

It was a sunny afternoon with a slight breeze in the air. A Mexican thought popped into my mind and we swiftly made our way to La Rosa. My wife had been there before on a girls night and heavily recommended it. We booked a table on the way and got seated upstairs on the balcony. Immediately I had a bucket of Corona by my side and whispered sweet nothings into each other's ears, (at no point did the bucket of Corona whisper back). Starters consisted of Calamari and Chourico, Nachos to share and corn poppers took up some more valuable table space. It was beautiful... at this point the sun started to fade and Corona got swapped out for Brandy and Coke Zero, with a bit of tequila on the side. Dinner was a mix of Pulled pork Quesadilla and The meat Quesadilla. For some reason we got attacked my more tequila but resisting was futile. We lost the battle against sobriety and once again walked away skew. Such a sexy vibe! One let down was that the waiter had the memory of a goldfish and we missed out on a few orders, but other than that... epic.
First time eating at La Rosa, such an amazing vibe! We had the best service from our waiter Xolani, and felt very welcome when Riaan greeted us by name at our table. The food was great and we cannot wait to go back to try everything else on the menu. The restaurant was packed, but we never had to wait for our waiter, food or drinks. Well done on such great service!
Loved it. Good was spectacular, amazing flavours, fresh, and absolutely divine. Terrific service with the most phenomenal atmosphere. Manager arranged a complimentary tequila tasting. All in all a magnificent experience.

Attended a birthday event at La Rosa Mexican Grille and Tequileria
. I ordered a Chicken Fajita, it tasted okay, but i did expect more flavour and i think the chicken could have been better prepared. Service was awesome considering there were many of us. As a dessert i had the Churros, for one person it is a bit too much of sweetness and cinnamon, luckily i shared with a friend, it goes really well with the ice cream, the ice cream somewhat made the dessert a bit less sweet. This restaurant has a very cool vibe that gives you the Mexican experience, and has plenty of seating areas - outside areas for a more fresh/breezy atmosphere. The menu has a wide variety of options.
Oh yes!!! Finally a place with actual 100% agave Tequilla and promoting the way Tequilla should be enjoyed. By sipping good quality Tequilla. It's almost like drinking a single malt whisky, smooth and enjoyable. After all, that is the way they drink it in Mexico. Pinch of coarse salt and few drops of lime, straight into the glass. With a Sol or a Corona or even a Margarita. The food is well portioned and authentic Mexican. Barman had a bit of an attitude but I can deal with that if the food and beverage is good.
Starting with the caveat that we are vegetarian, the place was average in terms of food choices and also service. Ambience did seem quite nice and vibrant. Probably a good place for tequilas and sangrias. Our food was fresh and quality ingredients

Was here on Friday night for a friends birthday. There were over 30 of us, apparently for a table over 10, you have to pay R100 a head beforehand. Which we did and then used that to order nachos, corona and margaritas for the tables. The place is super busy and loud and pretty awesome. The nachos were really good, I love that it had so much cheese on it, although the accompanying salsa was not that great. I ordered the calamari and chorizo starter which was divine! All the flavors just mixed so well! The burritos looked so good too and were filled with meat! We also ordered the churros and rice pudding. The churros were really not good at all - way too much cinnamon and sugar, also the inside was hard, not soft and chewy with a crispy outside as expected. The rice pudding was yummy though! On the drinks front - the house margarita and the pineapple one are not that great, they're very sour but the tropical margarita is amazing! And the glasses they come in are pretty cool too.. the waiters and managers were so friendly and accommodating and we loved the vibe. I'm definitely coming back here!
We went there for our wedding anniversary on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was not busy, the service was excellent and the staff extremely friendly. We asked our waiter for suggestions for starters and main course, their knowledge of their menu is impeccable.
Fantastic vibe with brilliantly recreated authentic mexican food. Their prices are pretty reasonable and the staff exceptionally friendly! Not the place for a quiet romantic dinner; but definitely the place for a ton of laughs and a supreme night out!!

Finally, finally got to try this place.... after being quite bias to Salsa in Fourways I had to try this place, no better time than date night with my better half
We got there slightly early (around 4.30pm) and were probably one of three other tables
On arrival we were welcomed nicely and seeing to the table then got introduced to our waiter Geoff, he was always around but then again the place was quiet, nevertheless he was on his game
The fish soft taco was super amazing my wife had the chilly con Carn Barito and was so much food she took half home
They have craft tequila and corona beer so that makes for a good evening (even if it was a Tuesday) 🤕so I'll feel it tomorrow i think
All around great place nothing went wrong so based on first time patron I'll give it a good 4.5
As I always say one needs to try a place twice

I'm not a huge tequila fan (at all!!) And I even enjoyed that! The nachos are top form! As well as the "wet" Chicken Pibil that was too good for words!

So glad to finally have a great restaurant this side of the world.Never once had a service issue, they are however fully booked way in advance so book your spot early. The food is great and has more variety than your other Mexican restaurants on the scene at the moment. Fresh, simple and not all loaded with cheese. This is by far my best option for Mexican flavours.... oh and did I mention the Margarita's and Tequila's!!!
If you are a fan of Mexican cuisine, tequila or simply a restaurant with a good vibe, then La Rosa is the place for you. Been there twice in a space of two months. The Nachos and Tacos were delicious and very generous portions. the second visit, I only had two drinks and was slightly disappointed in their non-refundable deposit policy. Other than that, will definitely go back!

Went for dinner with a few mates, had a peach and passion fruit margarita which comes in a cool skull glass, chicken nachos for the table was delicious, one plate was enough for 4 guys! Portion was nice and big. For mains I had the pork 🌮 which was ok, had churros for desert which is a must! The waitress was so confident in them she said she would wash my car if I didn't like them ha ha nice vibe and atmosphere!
Had a wonderful meal today at La Rosa, spoilt only by the manager's insistence of joining our table during our meal and dominating the conversation. He needs to work on realising where the boundries lie.

Wow!!! What an amazing night! I celebrated my dirty thirties last night with Riaan and his team's amazing help! A huge thank you to all the kitchen staff for out of this world food, to all the attending staff for their constant eagerness and willingness to ensure all their guests were happy and of course a huge thank you to Riaan for orchestrating this very special night!!! Had a relaxed lunch at La Rosa. Mexican food was good. We had tacos and Burritos and both was very good. Guacamole was very good. Only letdown was their Chile Con Queso - tasted more like flour than cheese. Overall a place that can be recommended.
Never been to Mexico, but damn if this is the food, then its next on my list, Trump's wall be dammed. The real shame it's so far from home. Great food, great service. And churros. I'm sold!
Very busy so that explains how great the food is... it is quite a big restaurant and to be honest I've never seen it not full!!! Special ambience, very relaxed and as much as it's always packed, there's always enough space for everyone to enjoy their time there comfortably☺☺

A friend and I decided to find the best nachos in JHB. I suggested La Rosa because I thought they would win hands down.
The Salsa is fresh and tasty, the guacamole was delightful and full of onions etc.
The highlight was the quality of cheese. The two different kinds of cheeses gave a wonderful constrast in texture and the cheese was evenly spread over the nachos.
The portion size was very generous as the two of us could not come close to finishing the portion and I give it a very good rating in terms of value for money.
The staff were friendly, helpful and chatty and the restaurant was buzzing for a Tuesday afternoon. The drinks were delicious and had an alcohol free version which they were more than happy to accommodate.
Next time I go I'll be sure to sample the extensive tequila range.

Finally a decent place to eat in the West Rand. On 2 occasions I tried to make a reservation and they were completely booked. Third time lucky. Had the fajitas and it was so delicious. Although we did have a slight mishap with our starter. Ordered a butternut and feta tortilla and received a chicken tortilla. Manager was nice about it though. Can't wait for thier new menu.

The place is just fantastic in every way, the service is great, the food is almost addictive and the drinks(margaritas) delicious...I love that the wine list is more locally sourced, booking is essential from what I've seen, it's Wednesday night and the place is completely full . I will be back again very often especially considering I live in the area and I loved the whole experience!!
Very popular and busy restaurant, wonderful experience! The only criticism I have is that their bookings aren't run well and they don't let you know about their upstairs tapas option.. I have tried on two different occasions to book a table for 8pm and have been turned away both times, and both times we have just arrived at LA Rosa after being turned away and have been seated on arrival as there were tables to spare. I also found out by happy accident that if it's full downstairs you can order tapas and drinks at the bar upstairs... I wish that when I had called in to book that they had let me know about the tapas option because the restaurant has out of this world amazing food and we would have been happy to come for Tapas. Their house frozen Margarita is awesome, the nachos are yummy! and the Baja fish taco is a favorite amongst my family members. The decor is beautiful and the atmosphere is really vibey.

It was a really enjoyable evening. The orders arrived wrong and some were cold, but after sending them back they came back perfect. There food is really tasty and the environment is amazing. The waitress was very friendly and really enjoyable.
We tried La Rosa on New Years Eve night without a booking. Staff were super friendly and accomodating. We shared the nachos and calamari and chorizo starter. Both were really good. Eat up the nachos, they do get soggy quick and its a huuuuge portion. Comes with sour cream, guac and a spicy salsa-ish dip which we loved. The calamari and chorizo was also yummy. Didnt think it was outstanding but I would definitely order again. The winner hands down is the churros. We are addicted. The best I have had. And the ice cream with it was divine. Also tried the jalapeno and pineapple margerita, nice flavour but a bit chunky for my liking and i was chewing alot. The place is vibey and noisy. But the hospitality is on point. We were checked on by waiters, managers and owners. Very sincere and keen on feedback. I will definitely be back.

With husband not being too ravenous last night, decidid to try this trendy spot for some mexian nibbles. As a lover of all things skull, I am totally in love with the look of this place. Making a reservation was a pleasure with a genuinely interested hostess and in person, the front of house ladies are super friendly and welcoming. The place was full and noisy, so when no waiter presented, concern grew but some a well-spoken gent who was enthusiastic and knowledgable about the menu appeared and got me a drink served in the frikken awesome skull glass. We got the nachos grande for a starter to share and after am extra bowl of the delish guacamole we were both so full we took a rain check on mains...so will definetly be back on a quieter night when appetites are better to really dive in to the interesting menu. Oh and to sip me some margaritas from the skull glasses!

This is quite the vibey place. Took over a bury boring restaurant so we needed something fun and interesting in this area. Embarrassingly enough, this was my first at a Mexican restaurant. From the on set there is lively music, amazing decor that makes you understand why they're fully booked all the time. Sat upstairs and had the nachos with pork on it and the shrimp cocktail. From tasting Mexican food before the nachos were somewhat missing something. They were not bland as such but I'm embarrassed to say that the fake nachos from spur had a little more flavour. I do appreciate the portion though. Our waiter Bongani was really friendly. Thanks to his recommendation we had the passion fruit and tequila smoothie/cocktail which lived up to our expectations. Upon leaving saw their amazing spread of tequila. If I wasn't running from the storm, I would've stayed for more!

I'm changing my review from a 3 to a 4. Below is my first review where i indicated our dissapointment in the food, however having been back after a year or so we are super impressed with the food, it was delicious, all of it, and the portions just perfect!
This restaurant has loads of vibe and the decor is well thought out, it screams fun and eclectic.
We met up with friends on a Friday evening, and the place was pumping, and very loud. Too loud for my liking as we had to speak on the top of our voices at all times.
Their menu is diverse, and you won't struggle to find something you feel like, as they cater for all. Plus their drinks menu is diverse, and you'll find yourself trying something new each round, so get there with an Uber!
We were all a little disappointing the food. The portions were small, for what one pays, and not all dishes were flavoursome. We shared some Jalapeno Crocketa which were the best plate of food we had that evening.
For mains I had the black bean nachos, this could have had more cheese and guac, but instead was dry. The rest of the table had enchiladas and burritos.
Although the food was disappointing, i'll try them out again. If not for their food, then for there kick ass margaritas!

A Vibey restaurant, with good authentic Mexican food and generous portions. Tried a variety of dishes and they were all good. Love the decor! And the margarita variety is to die for!
We celebrated 2 birthdays last night, one being a 40th. Just the 4 of us. The food was amazing and so filling, the tequila menu is big with lots to choose from, the decor is great. The manager was very passionate about the menu and very helpful with making food choices. We had a great time and will definitely be back very soon. I think the only disappointing thing would be that no attention was made to the 2 birthdays.
Loved this place! The decor is on point and all the staff are friendly and so helpful.
Their food is incredible, margaritas even more so and their churros are blessed by the Churro Gods. My only negative is that I find the portions small for their prices. However loved the experience and will most definitely be back again.

Really enjoyed this restaurant,
The decor is an experience in itself with no area left 'off theme'. The Corona chandelier is a beautiful piece.
We really enjoyed the service and the food was outstanding.
The nacho chips were served warm and on their own full of flavor. My friend had the fish tacos are said they were the best he's ever had. I had their special burrito and was asked if I wanted it wet/dry - this means with extra sauce on top of it or without - trust me, go for wet! It's delicious.
The Chilli con carne was also exceptional and their dessert was made just as you'd expect it to be.
An impressive tequila menu is also available, a must for any Mexican restaurant:)
Overall a definite must-try.
I was so impressed with this place that I left feeling it was worth the drive. When a restaurant gives you the choice of three chasers (lemon, pineapple, orange) for your tequila, you know they are on point. We started with an assortment...nachos, calamari, tortilla chips, jalapeño poppers...all were really really good...lots of flavour. For mains I had the chili con carne which was tasty and well presented. Had to have the churros with ice cream and salted caramel sauce for dessert...it was good. This place is also very resonantly priced...well worth it👌🏽
Nice establishment. The selection of food is almost too much. Dont know where to start. However i must say i think they are a bit over prices. Portions small. Nachos were the biggest portion and best value for money.

I love love love the decor at La Rosa. This is my favorite part about this Resturant . The eclectic mix of authentic Mexican and contemporary design create the back drop to the perfect Mexican inspired evening .
I am a lover of all things tequila , so it was a no brainer I was going try the unusual mix of margaritas on the menu. My top picks would have to be the Pineapple & Jalapeño as well as the House Margarita. I personally prefer them shaken rather than frozen . I would also recommend the hibiscus margarita & the passion fruit was not to bad either . And if all else fails just stick to a bucket of Corona.
We ordered a couple of starters for the table . My favourite was the Jalapeño croquette. I also tried the corn poppers and a calamari dish. Both were good . For mains I ordered braised beef rib Tacos . I am glad I ordered a portion of 3 as the servings are small. I also tired the pork and pineapple taco. In my opinion they were ok. There are far tastier options on the menu though. The nachos are delicious , I tried the chicken and mince nachos and both were good. Also tasted one of the burritos . I would suggest ordering the burrito dry as the sauce was a little too much .
The service was friendly and efficient . We had a couple of hiccups with orders , but the waitress saw to this with out any hassles. The manager was also very attentive and helpful.
All in all a great night out .

Awesome Mexican food & service. Had a "create your own Burrito" and was super awesome. You can have your dish dry or wet (with sauce). Recommend to have it dry so it's not too rich! The decor is awesome & so is staff. We had desert which was too awesome. A bit pricey, but defiantly be back!
La rosa is a very nice mexican restaurant. I normally dont eat spicy food but La rosa really does have favourable food and the spice levels is just right. They have a big variety and also lots of cocktails with tequila. I really enjoy the place and the service is really good. It bring a new dimension to the Honeydew area as there is not too choose from.
Love the place and been there twice already but took friends with kids and was not very successful due to lack of a kiddies menu. They wanted to order something for the kids from an alternative take away place so as to not have to order from the main menu but was also not allowed to do that.
Must admit Fajitas is the way to go here at LA ROSA. A big portion tastes absolutely Devine. What a lekker lunch. We will definitely be back. Viva LA ROSA !!!!!!
We went to La Rosa for pre-drinks for my sisters birthday. The decor and ambiance makes you feel like you are In the heart of Mexico. The margaritas are possibly the best that I have had in South Africa. We had the passion fruit and mango jugs. They were absolutely amazing. The service that we received from Thabang was world class. We also ordered a portion of their nachos to share that were fresh, crunchy and a light snack. I would recommend this place to any food lover, tequila love and Mexico lover.
Awesome food and service. Had some starters. Wow. I'm definitely going back. La Rosa is really awesome restaurant. Be sure to have some Tequila.
I Like this place... the starter was amaizing the Main was okay and the desert really good!
The main was a bit plain and bland.... all the other mexican restaurants are more comfort foodish so If you want something that is lower in Carbs this place is for you :-)
Prices are you average Mexican restaurant prices so no probs there....
Will come again 4 sure!
Wickedly awesome. Great vibe. The food was delicious. Well presented, decent portions and wonderfully prepared. The service from the moment we entered, including the waitrons and managers was professional, friendly and all are great hosts. Great evening at a great establishment.
Good food. Good atmosphere but better music will give it a better vibe. Looooong wait for a table but managed to be seated by bar area until our table was ready.
Went for Sunday lunch and the place was full so we sat upstairs and could eat off the starter menu. The food was very good my wife and me shared the beef nachos and chicken quesidilla. The craft beer and margaritas was good. Will go back.
The latest kid on the block and peeps booking weeks in advance. Food is great, service slow (but that is because it is packed) Great decor. A bit loud , and be prepared to spend! Staff very friendly and welcoming.
Loved this place. Will defs be back soon when the hype is gone, it was too loud in there to have any kind of conversation going. The Margaritas and tequilas was awesome! The food was lovely and tasty, and I thought the portions were too small, but it's enough if you have a starter with a main. With this said I think the pricing is over the top expensive. R45 for a Corona..... No man come on!!
Excellent food and we had great service from the waiter. Its a big menu with lots of options. Good priced and same quality that you can expect from the owners of Tony Spaghetti. Only problem was the manager that greeted us at the door. We were early without a booking and he made us feel very unwelcome. We booked and mentioned our feelings to him during our meal, but it only seemed to offend him and he shrugged it off. Hope he does not spoil the place for the rest of us. Good place anyway.
I've loved Mexican food long before it became trendy, so having this place open a kilometre from my house is a dream come true! From the minute I stepped inside I was in awe - the decor is absolutely beautiful and the attention to detail exquisite! There are so many tempting options on the menu it was difficult to decide, so I will definitely have to return! Food, drink, service and vibe all get top marks! Hopefully La Rosa is here to stay!
This spot feels "authentic Mexican" ( what do I know about authentic Mexican..?!) but if you half close your eyes you can imagine yourself sitting in a Cantina somewhere south of the border...
Great Tequila selection, cold Corona, good service and friendly staff. The food is "ok", potentially great, it just feels like the whole place needs to be "broken in" a make sense?

A lot of mixed reviews but must say our evening was very enjoyable. The food really good and the waiters was attentive and really friendly. Not a big tequila fan but accompanied with the sangrita the tequila was quite enjoyable. Will return for some nachos.
Went for a couple of cocktails and some starters to share with my bestie... And it was exceptional! Corn poppers, calamari and chorizo with black bean paste and the lamb meatballs (to die for).
Om nom nom... can't wait to try more!
Love this place. Decor is Mexican cool. Service is great. You really feel like you are in Mexico with the music and decor. We had the Mexican mule and the Cosmo Rita cocktails and nachos with chorizo and refried beans. It was superb. This restaurant is sure to give the other competitors a run for their money. Book a table in advance as it's booked out for the coming weekends already. Well done and I look forward to sampling the rest of the menu.
What an awesome vibe! This guy know what he's doing! Tony from Tony's Spaghetti fame has created a monster here! The first proper mexican restaurant in Joburg! Service impeccable! Food really nice. Some improvement is required on the mexican flavours. But hey its opening night! I'm sure Tony will do to Mexican what he has done to Italian for the last 16 odd years! Well done! We'll definitely be back!
