Review Vickycristina - Randburg

Michael Cost
Energetic atmosphere with a short Spanish dancing show. Great for groups of fellow employees, friends, family, birthdays and so on. It sits in a pleasant strip mall with other charming shops and restaurants. The food was incredible and the service was quite good as well.
Amanda Buthelezi
I really liked the decor and vibe of the restaurant. It's quite elegant and I enjoyed the entertainment (Spanish dancers ) as well. The food was fantastic, the chicken I had was a bit dry but everything else was perfect.

Yay 👍🏾<br/>The menu: very wide menu and everyone is bound to find something they're keen on tucking into.<br/>The food: taste wise, the food was delicious! We ordered a range of tapas and every dish was yummy and had a distinct flavour.<br/>The service: the waiters are on the ball and the food and drinks arrived in a timeous manner. <br/><br/>Nays👎🏾<br/>The decor: it's very dark inside with a lot of black and brown furniture with a million portraits all over the place. It wasn't my vibe in 2017 but if you're into that old school type of feel, then you should be fine.

We were a party of 12 with our own waiter and private dining room, I was pleasantly surprised with the food and service. We ordered a host of tapas throughout the evening and everything arrived hot and fast. Staff is accommodating and very efficient. All the tapas we ordered tasted good. Will be back again.

Been here a couple of times but the last time I was here was quite disastrous. The waiters were really terrible and added stuff to the menu we didn't order. Some friends came with groupons for the lamb shank and that was also added to the bill. Wasn't impressed, overall great vibe!

Never eaten in store but have ordered the prego roll as a take away on several occasions and it is always fantastic. The chicken is tender and the prego sauce is spicy but not too hot.
Annie Hodes
Fab atmosphere, great decor, I have eaten here a couple of years ago and found myself back here for a client function. Great vibe and had a super evening but found the catering a bit too unhealthy for my liking with everything on plattera deep fried @ZomatoZA

Decided to try Vicky's and have it delivered to my office 1km away. This is what arrived. The avo was just thrown on top. A hard almost frozen avo. Is this the way food is presented in house? Really disappointed

Met up with a friend for a lunch date. So quiet, apart from a small bachelorette. It's a very large space and generally gets quite busy at night so we were lucky to have the staff (relatively) all to ourselves. We had the lamb shank, mine with mash and her's with chips. The meat was really tender, and the mash was soft and buttery. It was good, not particularly memorable. But good.

Overall impression is that they lack service and attention to detail. The food was tasty and for the environment it was not bad. Went there yesterday (Thursday night), it was lacking any atmosphere. The place needs maintenance and definitely a injection of table service. Had a voucher from Groupon, but never used it, as we wanted to try other dishes on the menu. Will be back on a different night to make a final decision if it should be written off or kept as an alternative dining space.

We were here for a Paint Nite. Service was excellent. We ordered Spanish flatbread, jalepeno poppers and grilled mushrooms. Everything was fresh and full of flavour.
Chanel Pillay
We ordered a few side plates from Vicky Cristina's yesterday for lunch through UberEats. We tried the cheesy potatoes, the jalapeño poppers and spicy wings. Everything was good but the side sauces were average. Overall a good lunch.
Bruce Lennox
Fabulous food, we had a large variety of starters and never made main meal as it was so tasty and filling. <br/><br/>There were 9 of us and we all had a mixture of the starter platters which were devine.<br/><br/>My favorites were the paella as well as the chicken wings
Siphamandla Sihlali
My experience of this place was not a good at all,was served super salty lamb shank not going back again, to top it all they add excuses about the fact that the chef who cooked that meal was no longer there for that day.

Second visit to Vickys using a Groupon voucher. I was apprehensive but it was unnecessary. Service was outstanding and the food didn't disappoint. Had the lamb shank with a ratatouille-like side instead of starch. Can't remember what it is called but it's the third option after mash or baby potatoes. It's not the biggest shank in town but certainly one of the tastiest. My only gripe is that the restaurant needs some maintenance. Value for money and service to match.

Fantastic food here. They surprised us, we really weren't expecting to love our meal as much as we did. We ordered the lamb shank and mash for two, which we purchased on Groupon. Great value for money and absolutely worth paying full price for. Best lamb shank we've had yet. The house wine was delicious and the service was on top form. Apparently t hey have entertainment on Saturday nights. Would love to go see that and try more on the menu.
David Reid
Very nice layout and interior decoration. Tapas is above average. Fillet steak was above average as well. Overall great experience. Our waitress could have been more friendly. I will be back.

AMAZING! every time I go to Vicky Cristina I am not disappointed. the food is so delicious and the service is great. I had the rump with the creamy garlic sauce and chips and side salad. I had my rump well done and Vicky Cristina proved that you can have your meat well done but it still is butter soft. I really enjoyed myself and will keep going back :)

Was invited here for a dinner, due to a special with Groupon for lamb shanks. Now I see why, the lamb shank was delicious, cooked perfectly along with my choice of new potatoes which melted in your mouth, for a starter tried the Spanish flat bread (coca) which was divine, not a fan of rocket but this was good, only downside being dessert, shared the nut tartlet however pecan nuts tasted a bit stale. Other than that great place oh and awesome service Gitika Waghmare

Such a great place for eating out with friends. Tapas are always a good option for this type of occasion because it's nice to pick at things and be able to taste a variety of different dishes. We were there on a Tuesday evening and it was very quiet but still a good vibe. Very cosy and inviting. The service was excellent, our waiter was attentive and very polite and friendly. I love that they have an all-day special  on Tuesday and Sunday. Buy 4 tapas and get the cheapest free. We had Ribs, spicy wings, crispy calamari and potatoes and cheese with bacon. The portions were really big and between the three of us we couldn't even finish the four tapas. The ribs were absolutely divine! But I have to say, I was a little bit disappointed with the calamari, I would have maybe preferred an option of grilled calamari tubes on the menu. I had the sangria, which was very tasty and fruity but a little bit too watered down for me. Dessert was also great. I would highly recommend the lavender creme brulee, it was the absolute perfect end to a meal. Not too sweet, a nice subtle flavour of lavender and very creamy but light. I wasn't too impressed by the orange chocolate fondue, I think you should only serve it in an orange if the orange looks good but this was a very sad orange. The actual chocolate sauce was lovely though. Overall it was a lovely evening and I'll definitely be going back.

Had a wonderful evening at VC's. Wasn't overly vibey but the delicioso food and wine selection more than made up for the lack of ambience. <br/><br/>We were a group of 6 and ordered a rather mammoth selection of tapas to start. Was mightily impressed that they all arrived piping hot & together. The jalapeño poppers (with a side of tequila) was the firm favorite. <br/>The chili chocolate lava cake for pud was notable too. <br/><br/>VC's is a great spot where you can order a fair wack of tapas to taste, without breaking the bank or leaving hungry. I plan on eating more strategically next time to leave some space for a main 🙈<br/><br/>

Lovely evening spent with great friends.<br/>We ordered a lot of different tapas between the 4 of us and they were all delicious. Great food and company not the best ambiance but will definitely go back for the food
Christine Williams
This was a awesome experience, and the lamb shank was the best....will definitely go again 😀 😀.The place is nice and cozy perfect for date night 😜

A restaurant/tapas bar with a Spanish/Cuban theme inspired by Latin American movie/music icons plastered across the walls of the restaurant. It's a nice alternative for a Fri or Sat night dinner. The menu takes elements of classic Spanish food with a huge variety that would cater for all palettes. All makes for a fun evening with friends.
TheOne
Been here twice for the ribs thus far and I thoroughly enjoy them. The ambiance is also unique. I've heard they have a live show or dancing here on some nights but haven't had the chance to see this yet.
ML
We had a good time but V.C wont be our first option out. I think its best suited to perhaps a younger crowd. In their defense its not my kind of food but they did everything right.
Vidhya Naidoo
Great Ambience & Great service but below average food.<br/>Couchy, bad smelling, fatty chewy skin duck😷<br/>Dry dry dry Lamb Shank<br/>Bland Prawns<br/>The worst was the Mussels - de-shelled & straight from the freezer, they were mushy, powdery & stale...<br/>Paella was decent but not very flavorful or spiced, the Spanish bread(pizza) was good<br/>The Ribs tasted like BRM ribs from SPAR, no distinguished flavours of coffee.<br/>Great Drinks and Cocktails, Best Sangria I've ever had so far!
Jenny Louw
I was very excited by the look of this place. It has quite a risqué look to it. It was a pleasant surprise to stumble upon this place. They have an interesting menu and their portions are quite generous, that included the servings of wine.

<br/>Nestled in the Colony shopping centre, Vicky Cristina's is a great looking restaurant with a great vibe and ambiance. The tapas starter options had a big selection and looked quite appetising. The fish cakes and calamari was really good with the chicken wings being slightly disappointing. The mains were great, you cant go wrong with a good fillet (Groupon Voucher). Overall a great restaurant where im definitely going back.
Tarrynn H
I have always been a fan of ordering a few smaller dishes to try a variety of flavours & this is what was on the cards at Vicki Cristina's - tapas! Our table ordered a number of dishes, although there wasn't anything to complain about, there wasn't much to rave about either. Even though it was busy, the restaurant felt empty and was lacking a vibe. A pretty average evening on all fronts.
Monique Diana Crosti
The Spanish meatballs with pea sauce was very tasty. Beautiful decor and great vibe. The Spanish dancers were a nice surprise and it was a great value for money dinner considering that you don't pay extra for the entertainment.

After mates had been raving about Vicky Cristina's I finally got a chance to go there and boy am I glad I did. It was fairly quiet on a Saturday afternoon, which was perfect for us. Love the decor and the service was pretty good. Had the lamb shank, I went from "eeeww who eats lamb" to "I've got to go back for that lamb" in one meal. It was amazing, very tender and the flavours were just right. Will be going back again soon.
Jadene Simone Naidoo
Everything I have ever had of the tapas menu has been divine! The paella was flavorful and full of seafood. The chicken skewers are absolutely sublime! Perfectly seasoned and tender. The fried halloumi was delicious - this coming from an I'm-allergic-to-anything-that-is-not-meat kind of person! The pepper steak is a must try, tender and uniquely seasoned. I would definitely say that this is a try before you die type of place. My only criticism would be that the service is lacking in professionalism and the waiters are not very well trained or attentive.
The Foodie
I heard good things about Vicky Christina's , so when I saw the group on special , I thought let me give it a try ! For starters I tried the grilled chicken skewers which was tender, succulent and awesome ! The cumin paprika sauce was amazing & complemented the dish perfectly. On to the mains..fillet steaks with your choice of sides. Beautifully prepared , succulent and juicy, though I did feel it was a bit on the rare side, considering I asked for it to be prepared medium to well. Lastly the desert ! You can't go wrong with the decadent chocolate volcano ! It was simply divine ! On the whole it was a good experience, decent atmosphere with good friendly service ! Give it a shot ! I'll definitely go back to try out the other tapas !

This can be a great location with a group or a party. Tapas menu is large and tasty, and the beer menu also has lots of choices. Also a fun location to go for sports with friends.
SalSal
Very nice. Met friends for a bite to eat and a long overdue catch up. The frozen margarita jug was delicious and just what we needed. We then ordered a variety of tapas which were delicious and surprisingly filling. We had the crumbed haloumi, crispy calamari, chicken skewers, prawn and chorizo skewers which were all very tasty. Also had the paella and pork belly which were nice but a little disappointing. Service was attentive but not intrusive. All in all a good evening!
Gregory Peter Allan
Great meal! Tapas menu is fantastic, I had the fillet stack and the chorizo and potato, service is good and the shop looks amazing! Def going again!<br/>

Actually wanted to lunch at Prontos at The Colony, but was abruptly told that the kitchen closes at 2:30pm on a Sunday. So decided to give Vicky Cristina's a try. <br/>Overall well worth it. Spanish tapas is the theme but the decor is a little confusing and too dark for my liking. <br/>Ordered cheesy potatoes, chicken wings and jalapeño poppers. Besides the cheesy potatoes, the other dishes were average. <br/>Mains was rump rubbed in chilli and salmon with saffron sauce. Both were delicious, but the rump was the winner. Must have with the chimichurri sauce 👌🏽

One word. TAPAS ♡ I adore tapas, and I found my favourite new spot for great mid-week tapas! Every plate was fresh and delish. Their portions are also very good! Dangit, now I'm craving!

Positives:<br/>Friendly staff, good quality food, quick service, decent variety of drinks, decor, present manager.<br/>Neutral:<br/>Price, <br/>Cons:<br/>It's a hard one, but the veggies were not up to the same standard as the rest of the food.

Vicky Cristina's is a Spanish restaurant with a good vibe. It is clear that a lot of work has been put in to making it look good. <br/><br/>The staff were friendly and looked after us well, ensuring that our food arrived at the right time, and that we were satisfied with our drinks. <br/><br/>The wine list has a good selection of both red and white wines, and I am sure any wine lover would find a bottle worth buying. The coffee was clearly a dark roast (typical of most restaurants these days), and it tasted burnt. <br/><br/>The Tapas menu items looked amazing, but we settled for a lamb shank and the ribs. Both meals were perfectly cooked, with the meat sliding off the bone. The halloumi starter with aubergine purée was also fantastic.<br/><br/>The dessert selection was hard to choose from, it all looked so good! We ended up choosing the lavender crème brûlée (which tasted like lemon) and the sangria poached pears (which were very hard).<br/><br/>Despite the burnt coffee and hard pears, overall we thoroughly enjoyed the experience at Vicky Cristina's, and would certainly go back again.

Wonderful night of tapas. The grilled halloumi and the chilly poppers are so tasty - the poppers have a real bite but super scrumptious. The chicken wings are moist and saucy and the Mexican dip is great. On a Tuesday and Sunday - buy 4 tapas get 1 free. Fabulous!!!

This is such a great place to have a birthday or celebration. The food was really good and the service was fantastic. I highly recommend trying it out. The entertainment was good too.
Love.Life.Daley
The evening was enjoyed by our small group of 4 with some pretty cool spanish dancing for entertainment. The tapas were pretty reasonably priced and there was nothing to complain about. The main meals were quite pricey and we didn't try them so I can't comment on that but the service was decent and their were loads of people.

We went on a quiet Wednesday night. Service was attentive - waiter turned up without having to be flagged down, at the right time (drinks, food order).<br/><br/>We both had the ribs. Great tasting and didn't have to wait too long. Pleasant evening, good service and good food. Exactly what you expect and want from a quick mid-week night out.
Lucianrajah
Used a Group on voucher here. Food came relatively quick, staff are friendly and overall a pleasant experience. Lamb shank I had was a bit fatty but very tasty. The tapas are a must try. Good resturant.

Had a birthday party for a friend here. The venue seems to have an affinity for events as most tables were taken up for birthdays, bachelor /ette parties etc. <br/><br/>For large crowds it's seems better to go for the tapas, with their generous portions. By the time we got through tapa starters, which were tasty, no one really was up to a full sized mains.baonwe all just ordered another starter as a main. Service is friendly and efficient. <br/><br/>There was live music with Spanish styled dancing so the livelier tables (more inebriated patrons) could be more interactive. <br/><br/>Vicky Cristina's is well worth a visit, especially for a bunch of friends looking for an entertaining evening out.
Akani Pearl Machimana
I previously for the ribs a while ago, which was a pleasure. I went back for their lamb shack on Wednesday. It was the best I've had In years. Perfectly cooked, nicely seasoned, their vegetables were nicely cooked. It was a hot evening, but the air-conditioner made the environment more comfortable. The restaurant look and feel is modern and classy. The service was slightly slow considering that it wasn't packed, but all in all, a great place, I would definitely recommend to anyone!

Vicky Cristina has been on my Bucket List for a hot minute. Ya'll know i'm a diva on a dime so I could hardly contain my excitement when Groupon ran a special.<br/><br/>It was my first Spanish restaurant experience so I did not have any expectations. We were received warmly and showed to our table. <br/><br/>There was nothing particularly Spanish about the decor as such - it just had a easygoing feel about it. The food was of good quality and prepared well. Tender, fall of the bone lamb shank with veg, yum. <br/><br/>Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing - intervals between courses were just right. All of this coupled with the entertainment in the form of Spanish Dancing definitely made it a memorable night out. Entertainment value definitely deserves a share of my rating.<br/><br/>I'll be back! *InMyTerminatorVoice*

We had a lovely girls lunch here on Saturday afternoon. Walking in to the restaurant, its quite dark and would probably be great for the evenings. Since it was so hot, we opted to sit inside with the air conditioning. The outside seating looks on to the parking lot which isn't great. The service was good, our waiter was friendly. <br/><br/>I like the idea of tapas, it did seem a little pricy though. I settled on the paella, it was quite a big portion which had three prawns and other bits and pieces. To be honest I wasn't blown away by my meal. It was a little too salty and quite oily. I'm a big fan of paella so I was disappointed. I had a taste of the mussels and the sauce was lovely. I then had the lavender creme brûlée which was outstanding, definitely one of the best I've ever tasted. If I came back, I would probably only come for the desserts or drinks.
KarmaZebra
Perfect venue for a big social night out! With large jugs of sangria and frozen marguerites, endless courses of tapas and paellas, a wide variety of flavoured tequilas for dessert and flamenco dancers setting the mood for some "Paso Doble", can make for a very fun night out! I think the idea of lots of small sharing plates also makes for ideal chatting conditions when out with a group of friends.<br/>The outdoor area also always seems bustling with patrons in the late afternoons, and is quite a nice spot to sit lazily sipping sangria and sampling their variety of tasty tapas, although can work out to be quite expensive, with each plate of tapas costing about R50-R60. However, the staff are extremely friendly & hospitable and are quite happy for you to stay all afternoon doing the same.<br/><br/> I really like this movie inspired venue, but for some reason rarely find myself dining here. Maybe because it almost feels more like a bar than restaurant, or a fun "dining experience" that once done does not need to be repeated...
Rugged
Food: 3,5 <br/>- Its safe & ok. Expect more from a 'Spanish' tappas resto.<br/><br/>Menu: 4 <br/>- 'nuff choice & variety <br/><br/>Ambiance: 3<br/>- it's Spur for adults.<br/><br/>Service: 3,5<br/>- friendly & helpful. Not exceptional.<br/><br/>Value: 2<br/>- expensive for what you're getting.<br/><br/>X-factor: 2<br/>- nothing special here.
Samantha Matos
Not great at all. Food is very average and flavours are dull. Service was also just ok. We won't be going back in a hurry. The tapas really need some focus.
Carole Craggs
I had an awesome evening with great friends. I spent more money than planned, but the food was amazing and we just kept ordering. Definitely a great venue for a few drinks and delicious food.
Glen Mollink
Very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at Vicky Cristina's. We shared 5 tapas starters which were all amazing. So yummy. For main I had the duck with orange sauce. Really good. Good service too so not much to moan about. If I was a bit picky I suppose the wine list is a little limited and it gets quite loud. I suppose though that this is the vibe they are going for. Well done. Good place
Kimala Ross
Wonderful ambience coupled with flavoursome, delicious food and attentive service makes this spot a firm favourite. I regularly recommend Vicky Cristina's, especially on a Friday evening when they have the Spanish dancers.
Rose Marie Pereira
Lovely tapas and sangria, had a wonderful time and the surprise of the night was the Spanish dancers as entertainment, so it gave us the full experience of being in Spain watching the flamenco dancers the sound of the castanets made it a really fun evening out. Food is quite pricey for the size of the portions.
Bridgette Madonsela
I took my mother there for dinner. It was a G*pon voucher. The place was too full. I understand that the vouchers brought many customers, but the way they packed the tables , made it it a stuffy ambience, tables way too close to each other. It was not an enjoyable evening after all. Food was ok though
Monique Pereira
We had such a fun night here drinking frozen margaritas and sangria and ordering tapas! The food was delicious and the service was great! We ordered the Pork belly, halloumi, chorizo and potato, prawn and chorizo skewers, jalepeno poppers, fillet steak stack, flat breads and paella! Everything was amazing and we enjoyed the Spanish dance show :)
Linda Meyer
Good food - and a great place to have a party! The wine list and cocktail menus are outstanding. Tapas servings are decent, so don't over order. The flatbreads are a must !
Carmen De Jager
We went for dinner with friends to Vicky Christina's and even though I've read some great reviews, I did not have the same experience. I found the decor to be seedy and felt as though I was in a grimy bar- the laminated menus and concrete floors were an added touch to the seedy ambiance. Some of the tapas were good but certainly nothing like Escondido's amazing food. Not my kind of place.
Thirusha Reddy
The tale of two restaurants. My first visit to Vicky Cristina's was shortly after they opened last year. Their tapas was excellent, the sangria flowed and Flamenco dancers capped off a wonderful evening. I was hugely impressed and was certain I would be a regular.<br/><br/>I returned to VC's earlier this year and was bitterly disappointed. Once again we ordered tapas but this time we were served rubbery calamari, tasteless paella and dry, unappetising chicken. The sangria at least was still good. I thought we had perhaps caught them on an off day but judging by the amount of negative reviews posted, it seems the quality of their food has deteriorated. I'm quite astounded by how rapidly their standards have dropped.
Molecules And Macaroons
Vicky Cristina's is the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of tapas with good friends whilst sipping cocktails and basking in the summer sun. The food is fantastic albeit not really authentic. The spicy potatoes, the crumbed halloumi  and the grilled chicken skewers were all well cooked and packed with flavour. The highlight of the meal however were the jalapeno poppers. They were hot, crisp and filled with the right amount of cheese - an ideal example of how poppers should be done. The restaurant is relatively quiet during the day which means that you'll have the undivided attention of the staff. The only downside of the experience was the margarita jug which lacked balance of the salty and sour notes but did admittedly contain a very generous amount of tequila. Recommended for an afternoon/ evening out with friends.
Rochelle
Great vibe. They have a little dance show which is OK. The food was ok, I had a pizza but they take thin base to another level because I ate the whole pizza and was still hubgry (I normally have 4 slices at most). The tapas are overpriced. The decor is great, it is cosy and truly reflective of the Spanish culture. Wouldn't rush back.
Jarred Cinman
Pathetic. I know I'm meant to write enough words so I'll add: no atmosphere, awful food, dreadful decor. The movie wasn't great. This dive manages to insult it.
Bonnita Kate Chazen
I've wanted to go to Vicky Christina's for ages and WOW I'm glad we did! Even though it was a busy Friday and we didn't have a booking they still made space for us. The food was Devine and the dancers were great. I will be having the 'Jalapeño poppers' again and definitely the 'frozen Pear and Chilli Margherita'... YUM!!
Alvin Francis
The good: The venue, decor, waiters and overall service are excellent. The bad: too pricey for the portions and taste of food we sampled. we ordered 2 tapas. The pork riblets in a coffee and citrus basting. And also the pork belly with Apple. The riblets were a bit on the dry side. They tasted like they were boiled and then added to the basting sauce instead of grilled. The basting sauce tasted like a tomato sauce than the fancy description on the menu. The citrus and coffee notes were so suttle all you notice was tomato. The pork belly was really enjoyable once I added salt and pepper to it. Can't fault that except the seasoning and price for the size. For mains we had seafood paella. The seafood was cooked perfectly. A pity that the pasta rice was not infused with the flavour and was dense and hard at times. We ended up leaving most of the rice one side on our plates. So the venue is very nice but I'm not sure if that alone will warrant a return from us.
Caroline Edey
It's on top of a parking lot, but then so many restaurants in Jozi look upon bonnets! I've never been for dinner, but the lunch service is empty. And considering how delicious the tapas are, I'm hoping this review will change that. It's a huge restaurant and with hardly anyone there, it's not a place you go to for the vibe. The food is the draw card here. I've had almost everything on the tapas menu now- and I've been happy with each morsel! Calamari with tartare sauce is crispy and tender. The fillet steak with mushroom sauce is rich, delicious and good value. The chorizo and potatoe is also a winner. But my fav dish is the baked Camembert served with shaved almonds and preserved orange. According to my mates without toddlers, the night scene is fun and popular. I do hope so, cause their lunch service alone won't keep them going.
Travis
This restaurant offers a good selection of tapas. The tapas were full of flavour. Great way to try a number of different items on the menu. There is also a good selection of beers on tap.
Estee Van Den Berg
Best Tapas experience ever! Very nice setting, ambience and decor. The waiters are knowledgable and offer excellent service. Highly recommended
Lynsey Mclaughlan
I would like to write about the amazing service we received from the Hyde Park branch.<br/><br/>I had a private function there and from start to finish the manager had a can do attitude. They were willing to go out of their way to make the event a success. <br/><br/>The staff on the night was very friendly and attentive to all the guests. I will recommend the venue to others looking for a private event.<br/><br/>Thank you Hyde Park
Olivia Coombes
I went for dinner here on a date, the meal was incredible and the service likewise remarkable. We ordered 3 tapas for two people and it worked out wonderfully
Lee-Anne Jacobs
Love love love this restaurant ! Love th decor , service and unusual options on the menu ! <br/>My favourite has to be the Duck Samoosa's - had them in Durban and here and both times they were delicious !! <br/>Had a great long casual "picky " lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Genna Hansen
Divine tapas, relaxed vibe and awesome drinks mean you're bound to have a great time at Vicky Christina's! Ordering a selection and sharing them all means you'll get taste of everything
Don
Generally nice. Food could've been fresher - we ordered saffron mussels - nice; Spanish cured meat- very average and small and not that fresh; halloumi- wrong sauce with it; garlic prawns not bad. Sangria good
Timothy Griesel
Excellent evening. Lamb shank was tasty and fell off the bone. Dessert was to die for. But best of all was the beer. The beer was what really made me happy! So tasty. Thanks for a good evening.
Tamsyn Galloway
Very happy with the lamb main, but disappointed with my lavender creme brûlée which was more orange than anything else. Entertainment was good
Brett Stevens
It was awful, the service was mediocre the food was overpriced and tasteless. We won't be going back there and will not recommend it to anyone.
Dougholder01
I loved it. I had been wanting to go for a while and didn't know what to expect. It's great inside and well decorated. The food was excellent and we were looked after nicely. <br/>I would rate it more but we were there during the day for lunch and would need to eat there for dinner to rate it more. Just to see if it holds up as good in the evening as it does during the day. A lovely selection of food and very tasty. Good cocktails and you must try their combination of mixed tequila. Lovely.
Conrad
We were pleasantly surprised after some deliberation and a backup restaurant booked, my wife and I (early 30's) made out way into VC's. <br/>The ambience was great , lively crowd but not a party, we found a comfortable spot and settled in. <br/>The atmosphere was culminated by a wonderfully laid out aesthetic and thoughtful environment. <br/>But wait there was more - we noticed a small area that resembled a dance floor area, we were not to be disappointed. Live Spanish dancers - what a treat for a couple that hasn't been out in months.... <br/>The food was good overall.<br/>The starter mussels and the mains of Paella that my wife ordered were rather overpoweringly fishy and powerfully salted. My Oyster starter was the beginning of a memorable Steak for mains.<br/><br/>The highlight of the evening was our friendly waiter only to be outdone by the fabulous chocolate fondant desert!! <br/><br/>Definitely a place we'll frequent again and perhaps again with a small group of friends.
Obakeng Kgositsile
Amazing Chilli poppers. Great service. Had the ribs, they were really good. My friend had the lamb shank, she said it was very mediocre. Big ups to our waiter Ronald.
Likers Of Things
Before anything else, I love the dark, movie/celeb themed decor with stunning chandeliers and gorgeous framed mirrors! We just had paella and coffees. I would love to go when it's more packed like on a Saturday! Food was certainly filling and more than generous portions. Very dark ambiance but yet inviting!
Jessica-Mary Kuzlo
Really cool spot! Great selection on the menu and consistently good food! There is also a downstairs venue which is perfect for birthdays or any type of celebration for that matter! Really enjoyed it!

Vicky Cristana's is a lovely tapas bar that ticks all the right boxes. The food is lovely, the atmosphere is lively and the service is always great. <br/><br/>I've tried nearly everything on the menu, but their lamb chops win hands down. I wouldn't normally eat a large meal at a tapas bar, preferring to sample as many different dishes as possible, but their meals are delicious and well worth it. I suggest going in a large group offing as many different tapas to start as possible and then diving into their amazing mains. Try as much as possible and visit as often as needed (to get through the very large menu). <br/><br/>Favourites include the calamari, meat balls, jalapeño poppers (HOT!) and prawn tapas. The salmon, lamb and duck mains are all winners. Ashamed to say I have never made it to dessert, which if you knew me is saying something, but I'm sure they're great too! <br/><br/>Even popping in for a glass of wine and watching the flamenco dancers makes for a great evening. <br/><br/>The only downside is that it's such a great restaurant you are unlikely to get a table without a reservation. Which is really an upside in my books...

Vicky gets an above average rating for the overall offer. It's a SEXY restaurant with great decor and setting. It promises much & I had high expectations when I went there a month or two after it opened ( I was keen to try it but it was packed in the opening months). <br/>The tapas concept has arrived in Jhb and makes for a fun dining experience. The dishes we tried were tasty but really average. It's not an inspiring restaurant, but I didn't feel let down. Nice setting.

A hidden gem in the corner of the colony centre. <br/><br/>We went on a Saturday night and there was a Spanish dancing show! We felt very much like we were part of the show as our table was literally on the dance floor. <br/><br/>Note to self book a table away from the dance floor. <br/><br/>Try their tapas style plates : paella was good but I missed the crust at the bottom, the calamari was great and the jalapeño poppers were tasty but hot. <br/><br/>The absolute winner for the night was the sangria it so spectacular .

I recently attended a 30th birthday party at Vicky Christian's downstairs in their private room. Firstly - their smoking section is in the parking lot, which split the group in the smokers & non-smokers quite significantly. The space was big enough, although there wasn't enough seating space. The cocktails and drinks were great, but the two barmen couldn't keep up with the 50 pax people who attended. There was also not enough seating available, which I feel is bad if you know how many people you need to host that got booked with you. <br/><br/>The food was served in platters - I loved the halloumi, veggies and Spanish meatballs. The pizza was okay and the chorizo and potatoes were fantastic. <br/><br/>I would like to come for dinner to try out the rest of the menu and sit upstairs in the restaurant. Maybe my rating will improve too.

Stunning venue great music yum cocktails but what a disappointment when the food arrived. Seafood paella and creamy steak fillet tasted a few days old. It was definitely not flavorsome. Will definitely only go there for a drink

On arrival my partner was already seated so I told the hosts I saw where he was sitting and went and sat down – after 14 / 15mins I had to get up and go find a waitress as no one had come to the table to offer me a drink.<br/><br/>I then told the waitress I was using a groupon and she offered us the option of sides and disappeared and returned with my drink. The food “ribs” arrived about 7 minutes later and looked delicious. Sadly with closer inspection I found them to be warm and not hot and when I started to cut them they were rather dry and over done! The meat was not juicy and tender but rather dry and flaky – I’m not sure they were prepared fresh as they came out so fast and looked like that had been cooked an hour earlier and sitting under a warmer.<br/><br/>My side salad had been dressed with olive oil and I was not informed that the salad came with any dressing and I do not particularly like dressing or olive oil – so another let down.<br/><br/>I had heard such good reports about the service and food and was very disappointed in the whole evening – I will not recommend the place - sorry

Went here for a girls dinner! We ordered a whole bunch of tapas and shared and it was delicious! The Hulloumi was really good and the Babaganush dip that comes with it is YUM! Calamari and prawns was also very yummy! I would definitely recommend going in a group and sharing a whole bunch of tapas x

Went there on the 15th of June - night before a public holiday. They had another event going on but our service was still very good and the food was divine. Sangria was yummy too and we had a voucher from the restaurant's website so for a R100 discount - ideal!

Went in December during office party time, that was our mistake. Was loud and full of drunks but food wasn't bad and service attentive enough. Need to go back for a second opinion and to try more of the menu but definately good for a video lunch with a group of mates

Great restaurant with a nice vibe and good, friendly service!! We bought the Groupon special (600g pork ribs and a side). It was fantastic!! Nice wine list (well priced) and awesome selection of craft beers to choose from.

Update: Had a lovely eveing there this evening! Very friendly staff, good atmosphere and a great night. Divine steaks with delicious chips! The lavender creme brule was not very lavender which was probably better as I was hesitantly ordering it. I was not a fan of the mushroom and red wine sauce. However the peppercorn and almond sauce was divine! <br/><br/><br/>Had a lovely dinner here this evening. We bought a groupon for 600 grams of pork ribs each. I'm not the biggest rib fan, however these were delicious. There was a generous portion of meat on the bone, which is really hard to find! Normally there is more bone than meat. The sides of chips and baby potatoes were out of this world. They have an excellent craft beer selection. I cannot wait to go back to try different meals. <br/><br/>

Great ambiance on Friday evenings, the service is a little too average. The Spanish dancers are amazing and add to the dining experience. I really enjoyed the lamb shank (meat falling off the bone)

My first experience for lunch was so disappointing but then I returned for one of the most delicious dinners I've had in ages. Everything we ordered was so well seasoned and presented. The prawn and chorizo, the calamari and the steak tappas was great. The live performance was entertaining but table positions right next to the stage can be distracting if you're seated there. service was very friendly and helpful. Great loud atmosphere. Great for big parties and hungry people.

The tapas were incredible, but a touch on the pricy side. Prawns, calamari, Spanish meatballs, Pork belly and Lamb cubes. So. Very. Very. Delicious.

I had terrible experience with my sister. We were rushed to finish our drinks and food l; as they were "fully booked" when there was next to no body here. Beautiful restaurant pretty terrible service, attitude and food let them down big time 😒

Food was fairly bland and my girlfriend was up all night vomitting after dinner. Not a pleasant experience and not somewhere that I would go back to.

This is probably one of my favorite restaurants that I've been to in a long time . Enjoyed the tapas and menu overall . This one cannot be missed !

We came for an event on the weekend and although the food options were limited I thought the chicken burger that I had was quite average! It was more roll than anything else! Have been here before and even then wasn't that impressed!

The food & service were relatively good. The vibe is similar to a Baron. Was a bit noisy for us; would preferred to be seated away from all the hens & bachelor parties, but than again that's the type of place Vicky Christina's is.
