Review Ngc - Randburg

An absolute gem of a neighborhood restaurant in a small unassuming spot but the food is just incredible. Beautifully planned and created, it always manages to be a culinary experience without being stuffy, NGC remains relaxed, friendly and unpretentious. The menu undergoes seasonal changes and the wine list is amazing. It's a great place to order lots of small plates and share the love. Super friendly team ensures its always a lovely experience.

Excellent. Great small starters - pulled pork croquettes were a favourite. The burger was possibly the best I've had in Joburg: soft ciabatta bun, medium rare burger patty. Warm beetroot salad also very good. Elaine's steak medium rare as ordered and Ella's pork ragu was very rich.

Awesome little cafe, creative and mouthwatering menu, great service...a must try!! The current Google pic is old as the place has been nicely spruced up since.

One of the best restaurants I have been to in a long time. I had an absolutly fantastic caprese salad and the best gnocchi I've eaten in ages, my husband really enjoyed a really flavourful chicken and polenta dish. Everything blew us away. The menu is seasonal and inspired, and the service was fantastic. I can't wait to go back!

On Wednesday night we decided to go to NGC for a long overdue look at a local gem... Since it isnt appropriate to use goat mating calls or just unggghhh sounds for the gastronomic experience - here goes a few words: The quant setting with seating available outside or the cozy inside made an immediate impression. We were seated right next to the bar and had a few conversations with the lovely owners behind the bar (husband and wife team). I eyeballed the brocoli and blue cheese winter warmer special soup and decided to open with that, while my husband tried the deep fried mac'n'cheese with a dollop of spicy mayo on top. It reminded me of tempura sushi - same spice and crispness and completely decadent. For mains we decided on the chicken Coq au Vin on polenta - delicious and the gnocchi with macadamia nut ragout (something I remarked I need to marinade in!) By the end of the evening, with not a space for anything more - I activated my emergency dessert stomache and tried the rum and muscovado fondant... it was light, rich and the rum flavour was exquisitely presented from the first bite. I really appreciated the ginger crumble with the ice cream. All in all - a gem of a local eatery, a quaint setting and a deliciously fresh and seasonal menu that surprises in creativity without being pretentious. A must for any foodie! We are going back with friends for a Birthday dinner next week

Had dinner there this evening for the first time.. I highly recommend the small plates, sort of a tapas vibe but more quantity. Great service! Could not find any fault with the food. We had the pork sliders (sweet and crunchy), the sriracha chicken wings (chili but great), fish cakes and the caprese salad ( so refreshing). This was followed by heaven on earth dessert of chocolate and caramel fondant. Great, hope this place gets more popular but that the prices stay the same.

A treasure in suburbia, we had a fabulous meal sitting on the pavement watching the goings on of the neighborhood. The food was fantastic, with familiar favorites as well as exciting new takes on flavours and dishes you are used to. Service was friendly and efficient and the owners were attentive, warm and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a fuss-free evening with great food.

NGC - Emma and Gareth have created a little piece of heaven in Blairgowrie - and I mean little. The intimacy of this restaurant made us feel privileged to get a table. This is such a delightful space where you can see Gareth working in the kitchen with such ease and Emma going from table to table chatting to all the patrons in her Kiwi twang. The food is sublime - I don’t know how else to describe it. Not your usual run of the mill dishes - familiar but with a twist. We had gnocchi, fish cakes, beer battered hake and pulled beef croquettes. Apologies for no pics - that’s not like me - but I was swept away by the culinary delight presented to us. We were so busy tasting each other’s food it was too late for pics. Desserts were decadent and delicious - we shared the cream brûlée and the chocolate fondant. All in all, we had a divine evening in a lovely intimate setting, served by a wonderful waiter at a very reasonable price. We will be back. Do yourselves a favor and pay them a visit.

Truly excellent meal. You'll have to go a very long way to find better food. But it's just up the road. Well done!

We had a delicious dinner there tonight. The mushroom sauce was exceptional (not on the menu but my husband asked for a sauce to go with the steak) & loved the extra crunchy chips. Will definitely go back!

With all the big, commercial restaurants around that serve the same old tosh you forget what a great restaurant is supposed to be like. Scrumptious food served in a relaxed, friendly environment with hands-on Owners ensuring your every request is catered for. Only opened in January but their ratings tell you all you need to know.
