We had a wonderful Sunday lunch here with our 2-year-old daughter, who, glutton that she is, gobbled up the jerk chicken, the fish cakes and the corn fritters (and made a play for my virgin mojito). We should have ordered way more, and will next time. NB: Our toddler has a pretty high spice tolerance and so do we -- the jerk chicken is right at the perfect level of spice and flavor for us. But it's probably not for all kids.
Kudos to the staff for being so chill and friendly and squeezing us in, and to the chef for surprising us with a bottle of his homemade jerk sauce after we complimented the chicken. I can smell it as I type -- I put it right to work and am making pulled jerk pork, which I plan to stuff into homemade tamales, which I'll top with a gooseberry-vanilla salsa.
We'll be back soon with our crew for that suckling pig. Speaking of, I forgot to ask -- how many people does it serve? Not counting our toddler, who can probably put the whole thing away by herself.
A great stop for a get together with friends where you can enjoy great food, awesome drinks and a wide array of patrons with a cool vibe. Sit outside on the patio or stand around the communal table or mosey on inside to the bar or tables. Let's not forget the lush green living wall of plants and great service. Brian Lara Rum Eatery has style from the rope lights to the lantern-like lights, the greenery and the simple yet comfortable seating...they've made it all work beautifully together. Ah! Those moorish free starter biscuits with salsa...yum yum. Looking for a stylish watering hole...look no further.!
