I don't know who these reviewers are talking about,it cant be Ocean Basket at Waverly Plaza.My wife and I eat there regularly and have never had a bad meal.Their Bassa fish,Hake and other items tried on their menu are always brilliant and service is pretty good.I have never had anyone at any restaurant insist on 30% tip only in New York.Ocean Basket Waverly is the best one of the Pretoria Ocean Baskets I have eaten at.Dont eat at Queens corner where I have had three bad meals,nor at Qcean basket,Newlands where the Bassa was small old and dry.Also at this outlet they give you an extra sauce to the three normally supplied.Kudos for them.Laurie Ibbitt.
I got exactly what I ordered and it was delicious. This store has recently been revamped and it looks lovely. Service was efficient and fast.
Kos is baie lekker maar die bedining is bietjie stadig. Atmosfeer is ok. Pryse is vreeslik duur en onbekostigbaar. Eet baie minder daar. Waiters laat jou altyd weet van specials nie
This is my favourite Ocean basket branch by far. The staff is friendly and service is fast and efficient. They have their own chili sauce, which you wouldn't get at any other branch and is delicious. The atmosphere is buzzing, but still warm and comfortable. They also have a special dinner for two with 2 glasses of wine for only R99. Definitely worth a visit!
Like all are equal but some are more equal, this Ocean Basket is the exception. It must be the hospitality of the Moot. The atmosphere is much more authentic and the owner/manager somehow managed to give his shop a distinct feel within the confines of a franchise. The service is always friendly and I've even been served complementary sherry in the winter months.

I've frequented them when I crave a fish and chips fix and I can recommend asking for their special peri peri sauce (only available here).
Food was fresh and tasty. Our Carafe drink didn't have enough alcohol but the kitchen crew rectified this promptly. Service was on point. Great laid back place to have food and chill as a family.

Ocean Basket Waverley is situated in Waverley Plaza. We order take out foods on a regular basis and i must say that we like and prefer Ocean Basket. The service is always great and the food is even better. One of their specialty dishes is their grilled calamari with rice. To Management and staff at Ocean Basket Waverley, well done keep up the good work.
Had an absolutely wonderful experience here, best Ocean basket I have ever been to!! They helped me with a table near a plug when I desperately needed power for my laptop thanks to loadshedding. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, and the calamari wrap I had was delicious! Brilliant friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, 12/10!
The family stopped for dinner and we enjoyed one of the family platters. Great size and variety so all 4 had ample choice and more than enough food to eat. The staff friendly and did a good job of checking on us without being overwhelmed

The fish and chips with calamari tasted delicious. However I ordered rice and vegetables instead of chips. Nevertheless, the meal was good. The house brand Rosé is quite sweet, so the ice cubes that were served came in handy to dilute the sugar content. Bread that was served while waiting for the meal being prepared was old. The type of bread served is a huge improvement on pre Covid standards. Pretoria has lovely weather conditions and the open doors create a pleasant atmosphere. Parking is secure and in view of the restaurant.
Service was good. Food wasn't bad. The fish in the platter could have been a tad tastier. Was worth driving pass another OB to get to this one.
