Amazing Portuguese food. Lovely set up, amazing host. I would most definitely recommend this to anyone looking to explore a different culture and their food.

Very nice place indeed. We had gone with a restaurant week booking but I decided to go off that menu. My date had the rosty burger from the restaurant week menu and I had the duck from the inhouse menu. Both meals were ridiculously delicious. For the service, environment and ambience I do not mind the bill. Definitely going back.<br/>

I went a while ago and had an amazing time. I do think it may be better suited for breakfast/brunch. We went for champagne breakfast and got quality for our money

So after reading these reviews of bad service I was a bit scared that we may also receive bad service but it was different. ... on Wednesday the 09/11/2016 we went to the restaurant celebrating a very special occasion. We got there received a warm welcome and it just kept getting better , the food was very tasty , the desert awesome and we had a great night . I'm glad I gave the restaurant a try and thank you for the great food

My wife and I were really looking forward having supper at Sir Herbert. What a utter disappointment though !!! Fine dining it's most definitely not.My wife ordered Country Pate as a starter, and it was seriously disgusting. Toe be quite honest I think that it might have off.My snails was okay, but it's the first that I've had snails with a tomato based fish sauce. Definitely won' recommend it.For main course, my wife had Cape Malay Chicken Curry - that was okay. Myself had the West Coast Bouillabaisse, which was disgusting to say the least. The only thing on the plate which I could eat were the 5 pieces of calamari. The prawns - shrimps were so small, you could hardly see it. And the linefish, was so tough, it was like well overcooked snoek !! The best is, that it cost R 265-00, I wouldn't pay R 50-00 for it !!!For dessert we've had the baked cheesecake which we've really enjoyed, except for the piece of parsley on top. Normally you would put a mint leave on it ?The waiting period was ridiculous. Weve waited at least 30 minutes for our starters, then an hour for mains, and then 30 minutes for dessert. If we didn't have a Groupon voucher which we've already paid for, we would have walked out.So take my advice, and don't waste your time or your money.

We visited Sir Herbert about a while ago - on a Groupon special.  It is a beautifully decorated restaurant, with  well known South African art work on display, etc.  We went for lunch, and realised that the menu was a little ''heavy" for lunch, true traditional South African fare - like venison pie, cape malay curry etc.  Not all the options listed on the Groupon menu was available, but it wasn't a dealbreaker.  We were the only patrons in the restaurant though, and maybe it was because this seems more like a dinner/romantic night out kind of venue. (for some reason my photos of the food itself doesn't seem to be loading - I will try again later - we had Waterblommetjie soup, Venison Pie, Cape Malay Curry, crepes and brandy pudding, yes told you - a heavy lunch!  LOL!)  and  The staff was extremely friendly and showed us around - even what the conference venue looks like (maybe a little weird, but we just took it as that they were very keen to show off the place).  The food was a bit  average though (although much attention are paid to the presentation), and I must say, if we were to pay the full price - I would have thought it was very overpriced.  They are making a good effort, this is a relatively new restaurant (or is it new ownership, not sure?), the service was good - but some extra effort will be required if they want to keep up with other similar restaurants in the area - not sure if we would go back to try dinner though?

**ZERO STARS** as the food was the worst I have ever had, the owner Jan Lampbrecht was the most rude person and was not accommodating at all. After trying to give us complementary desert because the food was so bad they actually charged us for the full amount and then he lay in front of the gate at the entrance as we refused to pay the full amount which he demanded. We decided to pay the bill and write it off as a bad experience because we had had enough of his antagonistic swearing at us. We then went to settle the bill much to our disgust, they then rang up an amount R780.00, when the actual bill was R728.00. Please heed this a warning, We will let everyone we know not to go to this establishment.

Never again!! Luckily we purchased a Groupon to visit this "fine dining restaurant". The chef recommended the Malay Chicken curry - that had no taste and west coast bouillabaisse - it was not fresh and had an unwelcome taste. Only half of the deserts as advertised was available. Stay away from this place except if you like disappointment! There are far better quality restaurants in the area.

The best place in Brooklyn to eat South African foods. A mix of tried and true classics, from Cape Malay dishes to Bobotie... the rarest garden setting you can find this side of Pretoria. Ambiance is spot on and the service is very attentive, thank you Thapi, definitely coming back

Awesome. Well worth a visit. You will not be disappointed. Great food. Great ambience. Pretoria desperately needed such a restaurant. A class on it's own
