Review Tatso - Pretoria

Attended a 60th birthday party. After reading reviews before, I was not expecting a good experience But, wow, what a surprise. From starter to dessert, very good. Variety also good. Only one, not really a big problem, is waitress. But I did pick-up she might be quite new, as she was not very confident. She did make-up with friendliness.

I can again report back about the Restaurant on a return visit the food was very tasty. The staff was very helpful. We were met by David who walked me through the complete line up. I was also met by Patrick the banqueting manager, and Tumi.

In my experience buffet restaurants in SA are generally a bit of a disappointment and for this reason we avoided Tatso. We did end up there for breakfast on new year's morning and this time we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is big and nicely decorated and the chairs we had was very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly but Elizabeth stood out constantly checking on us and offering everyone coffee. The food, good selection for breakfast with most of the usual foods but options of waffles and some of the best chicken livers we've had for some time. Even the beef sausages were delicious with just the right amount of spice. All in all a good experience with tasty food and friendly staff BUT it is expensive if you are not a hotel guest at a cost of R530 for 2 it's not an option if you are on a budget.

Incredible food at just an affordable price. The set up is great for birthday parties and mini celebrations. Or lunch with friends and family.

I took out my mother and grandmother from my grandmother's 70th birthday last week Saturday. I must say the food and the customer service was excellent. the chefs would converse with us from time to time. Highly recommend this place if you're looking to throw a birthday party for a friend or a family member or if you are just looking for a great time

Where do I even begin to explain. We have celebrated my grandma's and mom's birthday there. The service remains excellent and the food still delicious. I must say the lamb and grilled fish is out of this world.

Only asked twice and waited 20min for other people’s left-overs they be removed from the table that we were seated at... eventually a waitress came to clear the table and asked if she could remove the things as if they were ours 🙄

The new buffet place at Time Square. I had lunch here 2 times already. A limited variety of food offerings. Does not cater for people who do not each beef or pork. There are not may lamb or chicken options, and there are no labels by the food so we dont know whats what. Salad bar is ok, sushi is mostly vegetarian with no fish in it. Vegetables were ok. Desserts are ok. The only highlight of eating here is the soft serve machine and the fresh waffles that are made to order.

We have decided to go to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. They only have buffet. I really enjoyed to very good service and the decor of the place personally. But most of us were disappointed in the type of food and also the taste.

I'm not big on buffets but given this is a Sun International eatery at Times Square and as mvg card holder, I was curious.

The lunch buffet was a selection of 3 curries, some roasts (pork, beef) veggies, salads, rice, a stir fry/pasta selection (made to order) , a soup with breads, sushi , cold meats, cheeses, condiments (sambals, coconut, tartar sauce, gravies) and desserts. Food was good, with everything freshly made and continuously being replenished. With beef and pork as their main protein I was offered chicken for my stir fry when requested. The hostess was welcoming and allowed us to go through and look at the buffet before we confirmed our table for 4. The chefs are behind the buffet servers and able to help you on the selection. The dishes were not labelled so you had to guess what is what which I didnt like. Buffets usually fill up and my waitress was quick to clear dishes once finished and great on replacing cutlery and keeping up on the drinks orders.

Desserts were the highlight here, with individual 'petit fours' style selection in walled glass fridge, an ice cream soft serve with toppings and a hot bread butter and custard. Its good value especially if you gain a that discount being an mvg card holder.

The restaurant is well decorated with some nice chandeliers highlighting the buffer area.

Decided to try Tatso tonight. Mixed feelings about this place..
When we got there, I had to wait for a hostess to pitch up at the front door. When she came, she checked my reservation on a piece of written paper and took me to any "open" table (thought since I reserved a booking, a table would've been put aside for me). Check the bottom of this plate when we sat down.
The selection of food is not as big as some of the buffet places I visited in the past.
Food was ok, I won't say good or excellent. The only highlight was the ice cream machine!! That was good!
For R195 per person, Tatso need to improve their selection of food or you will have people that will visit you once and never again...
