Review Simply Asia Brooklyn Square - Pretoria

I go there every now and then; the food is pretty good with more than enough varieties, and it is easy to find as it has many branches. Once, I came with friends, and one was ordering some noodles. When his food came, he found that there was a chip (which is very visible) in his bowl. So he complained about that and asked the waiter to change to a new bowl. The waiter brought back the noodles to the kitchen and came with a new bowl (this time it still had a little chip on it 😬). My friend was saying to the waiter that these kinds of bowls shouldn't be served to the customer. Anyway, again, the waiter brought back the noodles to the kitchen. And a few minutes later, I saw the waiter get out of the restaurant. After a while, I saw him come back with sets of new bowls. It was a good gesture, I must say! ☺️👌

One of our regular spots, great food. Recently excellent quality. Polite staff and good service. Could do with air conditioning, but other clean and comfortable.

I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors. Not one of our dishes tasted similar. It was fresh and delicious. It took a bit longer, but I would gladly wait for proper food than have a rushed order that isn't pleasant to eat

We enjoyed it very much just giving a 4 star review because the beef for the Ramen tasted like it was pre-boiled so didn't have any of the broths flavor maybe put it on the grill to give it some colour and flavor then I'm sure it will be a 10 out 10 for now its 8 for me

Love Asian food and Simply Asia does not disappoint. My selection was 316 crusted honey chicken. Happiness. Currently running a special for R65 Monday to Friday. Plenty bang for your buck.

The waiter was pleasant and chatty. His recommendation of duck in soy sauce was delicious and my partner found her sweet & sour beef tasty. A pleasant surprise was that a third meal came free when two were ordered from the main menu so I tried the honey duck which was also very good. The drinks are limited with no fruit juice or non alcoholic beer. I tried a Thai canned coconut drink which was terrible. The imported Thai sparkling water is ok.

I was craving this dish for over a week and I am glad I drove all the way there to get it. Simply delicious. Number 514 on the menu. Veggie option.
Overland and More
Food is absolutely to die for, almost every dish has a vegetarian option.

Good food , cooked exactly as I wanted it , but slow service though. Price point ok

Best Thai food I've had. Love the attentiveness they have to customers.

Was served by Chelesile and her service was so amazing. She was so friendly. I highly recommend her.

Unacceptable for a restaurant to serve a customer something that they did not order. People need to be mindful that others have specific dietary requirements for a reason. I am hindu, and after confirming several times with the waiter, he said it was chicken, but I was served beef. I did trust the waiter as I was trying out something new. It was in a mince form so I couldn't recognise it. This is unforgivable. He managed did take the meal off my bill, but that does not help. I felt so sick. Management please look into this. The waiters need better training as they don't even know what a chicken dish would look like.

A spur of the moment choice to try somewhere different. Not worth going into too much detail but I definitely won’t be visiting the Brooklyn store again. We got our food and what you get for what you pay is not worth it. Portioning is shocking. Would have also been better to buy “Chinese noodles in a box” ready made from Woolworths and would also have been tastier and better value for money. No condiments offered, no follow-up on something else to drink etc.

My boyfriend and I loved Simply Asia, it’s one of our favourite places to eat or get take away. Mainly because they have great vegan options.
Tonight was the polar opposite- the waiter messed up my order twice- firstly by bringing my vegan tofu soya noodle dish with chicken, then with egg.
I cancelled my order because at that point I had lost my appetite.
What made it worse was the waiter was truly unapologetic and also no one more senior came over to apologize.
Won’t be eating here ever again in a hurry.

Service is non-existent. We have been here 90min and have not seen any food. The manager is not interested in helping or providing any kind of service.

This is one place I will avoid.

As I write this I’ve been waiting almost two hours with no food in sight. The waitress is very inattentive and the manager is completely disinterested. I will not be eating here again.

Was back at Simply Asia Brooklyn on Friday evening and what a change. They were busy yet service was good and the manager, Pride, was very visible and between tables constantly. They still don’t have the full advertised wine collection, but there was something. The food was great and very tasty. The team pulled it together and it was a great experience. Thank you Pride and your team.

I am in love with Thai food and i am 1 of the regular customers at Simply Asia Brooklyn but yesterday i was pissed of with their manager in the way she operates.I have been monitoring her for a long period and all along i was thinking that some of the things she does are human error but i have realized that she is below standard to be called a manager,The first issue is on lunchtime i went to buy my lunch and i asked the waiter to check my points and she goes to the kitchen to call her and she took almost 20 minutes to come to the front the waiter goes almost 3 times to call her but she was not coming.Around 1800 Hrs i went back to buy something for dinner that was i was shocked again she was in the kitchen without hair net and gloves while touching customers food ,and she has long hair like afro but she will be touching our food without hair net and she was busy destructing the white Chef she was busy touching that Chef private parts and acting as if she is in her bedroom and us as customers we seeing everything through that big mirror this is not good why cant she be professional. This is not a good way to run a business, remember us customers we have a lot of options there are so many restaurants at the square so we expect the best not this nonsense...

Ordered take aways from Simply Asia after almost 2 years of not buying from there. Boy did the food go in. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The wait though, for the food was terribly long.

Visited on Sunday morning 15/10. The service was wonderful and the food just about perfect. It was served hot and timeously. However the atmosphere of this branch is rather dull.

I love simply asia in general, but this one much left to be desired. The food was satisfactory but the service was terrible, bordering rude.

As simply Asia's go, this one really brings the brand down. Was ignored by the first waiter. Next waiter forgot about the drinks we ordered. And then we waited over 25mins on our starter, being reassured that dim sum takes that long, to have our mains placed at the table at the same time. The mains portions were clearly less than the other simply Asia's we've been to( probably should've have taken a photo for comparison). Just a lackluster experience and won't come back anytime soon, or maybe I will, just to confirm the quality of this branch.

I must say, the manager did get back to me and has attempted to fix these wrongs.

Simply Asia has quickly become one of my favourite restaurants. The branch in Brooklyn is quaint but with the great service, it's well worth the visit.
Our waiter Thomas took time to explain what each of the sauces and extras were and the function they played in altering the taste / spiciness of your food.
I ordered the 514(numbers are much easier), with chicken. The portions are decent . I love the fact that the meal is filling but still light. The veggies were still crisp and there was a fair amount of chicken provided.
It was a delightful dinning experience .

Design square location good. Food is tasty and portions are a decent size. I did however feel ripped off for being charged R30 for a 1Lt bottle of still water - unacceptable!

Worst service I have received at any simply asia. Once the vegetables were old and brown and when I spoke to the manager he insisted his vegetables were fresh. Tonight we waited 45 minutes before we left and still no food.
I can't remember when last I enjoyed a meal as much as I did tonight, or when last I asked to see the chef to thank him for making such amazing food. That is why I scored this restaurant 5 out of 5. I had the Chicken Pitas with roasted chilli and man was it good!
The waiter was very friendly but the restaurant does feel a little take-awayish and therefore scores low on the ambience side of things... otherwise it was great to have a mouthful of flavour!

Always opt for the 514 - extra hot with beef, I feel like it tastes best that way, I've had it mild, not so great. The prawn linguine is delicious. The seafood rice (623) is nice, could probably use a bit more heat but that's just a preference. The chocolate spring rolls are yummy eaten as soon as they're brought to you, nice and hot with ice cream. The sushi here is also pretty good, always super fresh and delicious.

Definitely not one of the better franchises around and it's a pity cause they have such potential (and I like my Thai food lol). Popped in for a quick lunch today whilst feeling for Thai food in the area. I have not tried the new store so was really feeling for some Pad Thai. Service was notably average and the food was just about on par. The reason for my rating is that it has just gotten too expensive for what you get and it's not value for money. Maybe they should change the concept to a self serve option but by being in all the malls they are now not any value for money. Far better lunch options available. Use the critique don't lose it lol.

It was Soy good! 😂

Ordered take-away & got the:
Khao Phad Thaley (seafood Thai rice)
Khao Phad Prik Phao (chicken, cashews, fried rice)

Khao Phad Thaley: this was the better meal of the two, it had such great flavour & a great lingering after taste.
Khao Phad Prik Phao:
It was good, apparently their most popular meal.
I found it to be quite tasty, but I would rather order the Phad Thaley next time.
The mild is veeery mild, if you like a bit of burn, the mild will not satisfy you.

Staff & manager were excellent at answering my questions & were very accommodating.

I would like to go back and try their other meals for sure!

My boyfriend and I were so happy to hear that Simply Asia is back in Brooklyn as we love Asian cuisine. We got the 514 ( with protein rich soya instead of chicken) which was lovely as always, the 622 and as well as some vegetarian spring rolls. The spring rolls could be cooked further to be more golden brown and the lemon in the 622 was slightly overpowering. The food is warming and comforting and I look forward to coming back. ☺️

Yummy!! Had a quick dinner here on Saturday night and it was lovely. Our food arrived quickly after we ordered (we were really hungry) and both the Pad Thai and Curry Powder Noodles were delicious. I loved the crispy chicken, sliced and placed on top of my noodles. The chili powder served on the side is really hot which added some extra heat to my dish. It's fun to watch the chefs prepare food in the kitchen through the glass window, especially when huge flames go up in a wok!

Great food and great service. The dim sum took a while. But was worth the wait. Will definitely be back. Thanks.

I was excited to visit this outlet, recommended to me by a friend and turned out to be a disappointing Thai experience...

Our waiter was not the most friendly of the bunch and didn't seem to be up to date with the menu...

I had the Thai Tongkatsu Linguine main. When it arrived I seriously thought it was a starter?! Way over priced as that wasn't a full main portion... The dish was full of vibrant flavors, I enjoyed it.

Compared to other Asian restaurants like Padbok this was a so-so Asian experience...

Simply Asia is simply the best. Always good, tasty food and nothing beats the flavour packed into their meals. Green Curry (301) is always my regular but the Roasted Chilli Paste and Cashew Nut Noodles (514) is another favourite.

The Sushi I received on Friday, 16 December 2016 was not good at all. Clearly not fresh. I did asked for this to be freshly made, even asked the manager the morning about it and still it was horrible

Simple set up but the food is delicious and flavourful, decent vegetarian options and good service. I had the Mah-khuer tao-jeow but I wasn't keen on the protein or tofu option and requested a substitute... I had cashew nuts instead.

Never a disappointing experience at Simply Asia.
Delicious prawn fashion sandwiches for starters with a chicken/chilli main dish that came with rice noodles, and a taste of the chocolate spring rolls for dessert!
Friendliest waitress and fast service.

Very happy to see Simply Asia back at Brooklyn.

The service was great and the food super delicious! Loved brinjals protein rich soya.

Will be back for more!

I am overjoyed that Simply Asia is back in Brooklyn Square! I had egg & veg fried rice (514). Generous portion and elegant presentation.
What I love is the four condiments served with the dish so you can tweak it to your desire - sweet, salty, sour & hot. Friendly Ruan, the manager came by for a chat. Service by Chelse was good. The Pomegranate Basil seed drink was unusual and lovely, not too sweet.
They also deliver in the area.
And they have a kiddies menu!

Delicious food and customer service!!!

My previous visit to Simply Asia was not a pleasant one. However, management took steps to quickly correct this. Great to see a restaurant that is orientated on customer service!!!

My recent visit there was very pleasant with fairly decent service by our waiter. The food was fragrant, spicy and absolutely delicious. We ordered the butternut curry soup and spring rolls for starters. We had the vegetarian and prawn dishes as our mains.

I highly recommend this place!
