Review Cafe Grenadine - Pretoria

Lovely restaurant. Great spot to visit for a catch up session with a friend. For the quality of the food served, they are more pricey than what you would expect. The portions sizes are not necessarily generous so the pricing doesn’t quite make sense. However the staff are all wonderful! Their service is excellent across the board and the atmosphere has been pleasant in all the occasions s I’ve been there.

Affordable lunch burger special. R50 for a burger and chips. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are usually friendly. The owner is always nearby and you feel well looked after here. Prices aren’t too bad either. Food is always good!

Nice place and the only one open in the area from 6h30 in the morning. Breakfast was good, except that the avocado was a little hard…..should perhaps have asked.

Good food, very good service, such a nice place to spend time together ⭐

Very nice place, the vibe is really cool. The waiters are very friendly. I ordered one of the sandwiches - a chicken one - with a passion fruit crush, delicious.

Been going here for years. Lovely little place. Menu could have a bit more variety but very good overall.,

Wide menu selection, good coffee and awesome selection of baked options - their cheese cake is in a different category. My friends were happy with other confectionery options. Parking on site with in and outside seating.
Stephanie Bell
Great food and great service ! Wide variety of dishes on the menu to choose from!

Health measures are taken into consideration. Friendly customer service and variety of breakfast options. I enjoyed my breakfast meal.

Very nice place, the waitress was really nice. The food was good.
Esayas Girmay
Good ambiance with variety of food for breakfast, brunch or lunch, good service, big enough to keep social distancing, cosy outdoor seating.

Love the ambience, nice quiet place with good food, reasonable prices and friendly service. Loved it. Will go again 😁😁😁

Really generous servings. Ordered meat platter.. very tasty.

Cute little spot but I was quite disappointed in the watery cappuccino and very basic “Hillcrest Salad” I had- very little amount of chicken and avocado unfortunately. However our waitress was friendly and very quickly tried to fix the coffee problem.

Menu has good options. The food was okay. Bit overpriced. Questioning the hygiene: the plates had fingerprints all over when it arrived at the table. A bit off-putting. We heard plates fall in the kitchen and a few minutes later our food arrived at the table....still hoping it wasn’t our order. The staff is not very friendly.

Visited there on Sunday around lunch time. Slow waiter on cell phone...spaghetti bolognaise dry and unattractive. Had se ask for more sauce...<br/>Lasagne delich!!!!!<br/>Serving of dishes unattractive:(<br/>Overall not vibey OR feeling welcome and loved here.

Decent lunch here. I had the crust less cauliflower and bacon quiche. It could have had a lot more bacon.. other than that it was fine. Salad was ok as well. Great that they have carb free options. Service was good. Food was ready in less than 10 minutes. I would come back here for lunch.

this place had been on my list of places to visit for months because of how beautiful the outside looks, till I decided to come here for my birthday. We sat outside for a while till it got a bit chilly and we asked to move inside, we were relocated to a table that was next to a wall. As we were eating we started noticing a few small roaches moving on the wall, it was the most horrible experience I've ever had in a restaurant. we tried to ignore it for a few minutes but it was just too much, we eventually asked  for the bill and left.  I honestly cant say anything bad about the food, service or the ambiance of the place but  my experience there has put me off for good.

Best place to eat at Hillcrest centre. Great food, amazing cake and best coffee I've had in a long time. The waiters are friendly and the service is really fast even though the place was full. Will certainly be going back.

I ordered the lemon chicken and had the cheesecake. The cheesecake was really good and had the right amount of sweetness. However, the lemon chicken was very bland and needed more seasoning. I had high expectations but I was quite disappointed with the meal. The service was great though.

The atmosphere is a very relaxed one with nice decorations and friendly staff. If you decide to come to this cafe make sure you try the Trinchado it is honestly the best one I have ever had and sent my taste buds on a journey! Will definitely return and continue to order it over and over again!😃<br/>

I love the vibe of this cafe. It's very laid back and casual. I usually come here for lunch or any early dinner every once in three months or so. Today I decided to come for breakfast. I tried the chicken liver and toast and I was very underwhelmed. The dish was rather bland and watery and the tomato salsa was basically diced tomatoes with fresh parsley and a sweet chilli sauce. Not the best combination if you ask me. The service was as usual efficient and the waiter was super friendly. I will definitely be coming back to try the other things on the menu.

The Cafe's appearance may invite you to sit, but the unfriendliness of its unsmiling manager should have sufficed to warn us of what was to come: a very expensive Lemon Chicken -R115- consisted of two small breasts of a suspicious grey that tasted strongly of chemicals- and the toasted cheese sandwiches ordered by my children were accompanied by chips of a radioactive yellow color that competed with the orange of the cheese. <br/>My rating would be negative- I would not eat at this place again even if I was paid for it. Absolutely revolting food. What a pity.<br/>Needless to say, despite having expressed our insatisfaction, the manager didn't bother to chat to us and we were charged for the entirety of the inedible food.

Went here on Friday to escape the heat with some friends in the mood for something cold to cool everyone down. We stepped into cafe Grenadine and ordered the coconut mocha frappucino, which was absolutely delicious! I was initially skeptical about ordering it with the fear of it being totally watered down only to discover how truly amazing it was. Pity I didn't get to order any food there but I will definitely be back for more.

As a university student you always look for new restaurants that not only offer delicious food but should also be affordable. I discovered Cafe Grenadine and was really excited to find a rather beautiful restaurant close to campus so I obviously had really high expectations for the place however I was somewhat disappointed.<br/><br/>The day we visited we tried out the Aegean Splendor salad which sounded so yummy on the menu but once we got it, it was pretty average. It was also super overpriced as the half portion was R72 and the full portion R90. To drink I had a mojito which was also rather satisfactory. <br/><br/>The fresh baked goods looked really appealing so we decided to try their red velvet and their lemon meringue. The red velvet was perfect but the lemon meringue was way too sweet.

Cafe Grenadine is located in the Hillcrest Centre, close to Hatfield. They offer a convenient haven for post shopping cravings. Offering a lovely variety of options from their menu from breakfasts, light lunches and off course some heavier red meat options.<br/><br/>My personal favourite is their Mezze platter. Please make a note that although they state it’s sufficient for one person, it is in fact adequate for two. Their food is fresh, tasty and hits the spot. Their decor is a mashup of Italian/cafe/bistro and offer inside and outside seating. <br/><br/>I would most certainly recommend Cafe Grenadine as the experience is a friendly one, from food, to service and value for money. Go! Now!<br/>

Lovely cafe very close to where I work. I go here often and am treated like family! <br/><br/>Friendly staff, good food and a lovely menu. The one time in the likely 50 times I was not 100% satisfied with an order the owner gladly replaced the order in record time. <br/><br/>They have a lovely cappuccino and I live fore the adorable little complementary biscotti that comes with it. The place smells lovely from the daily freshly baked goodies and they have many relatively healthy options on their menu! <br/><br/>They are also more than willing to accommodate large groups even on short notice!

It was a chilli day when my best friend and I decided to go out for cake and coffee... We happen to bump into Café Grenadine as we were walking and we got called in by one of the waiters. <br/><br/>First of all, their setting is very homey. I love the couch and pillows going on... the wooden feel of the place. The hanging lights on a low suspension. Their personnel are also very welcoming and accommodating. Beautiful experience I tell you_ <br/><br/>I had the Irish Coffee and Red Velvet. The coffee was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!!! With the correct sting balance and sugar and cream top 😍😍😍... BUT THE CAKE?! 🙄..... Goodness me! It almost ruined it all for me 🤢... It had too much baking powder and so every bite had a horrible dry after taste 😷,my God! It was dry! The cream was great, but what's great cream on a horrible cake??? <br/><br/>So I ended up having my best friends chocolate cake. Mmmmmmh.... it has a thin layer of caramel that pops up beautifully in your mouth. Loved it! <br/><br/>It's worth coming back for their coffee, not their cakes, nope 😷

Despite its convenient location I'd never actually paid much thought to having a meal at Cafe Grenadine, however, I decided to give it a try yesterday . <br/>Initially the service seemed quite delayed , however, our waiter came around and was quite pleasant and helpful - informing us in ample time of the system being down .We had breakfast , and although the cappuccino seemed rather small , the large portion for their breakfast special made up for it. 2 eggs, 3 rashers of bacon, mushrooms and toast , all for only R40. The food was really good to top it all off. <br/>Definitely value for money . I will be sure to pop in again .

I was rather excited to try this place as it's close to my place and every time I pass there, people seem to be having a good time. I finally tried it out with a friend and was rather underwhelmed. There was nothing specific that was wrong, but there was nothing great about it either. It's just an average spot. The cakes are good and the service is good, but the food is bland and ordinary.

I just say I was slightly disappointed with this place, when I made my way here I was so hungry and the look of the place gave me high hopes, I made it in and mentioned this but that didn't speedy up the service, not to say service was slow but rather that my waiter gave me ample time though I did tell him I'm so hungry he must literally give me a second. I decided to have a scramble and added bacon and mushroom, I was misunderstood by my server as I wanted the scramble cooked with mushroom inside of it and a side of bacon which I could forgive thing the unforgivable part is the horribly under seasoned food after drowning the eggs and mushroom in salt and ground pepper ( quite annoying as they had crackled salt) my seasoning didn't do much and I could not finish the giant sized portion of scramble with sides. The manager is really quite friendly going up and down insuring everyone is fine it always refreshing when that happens and the bakes smelled glorious. Oh my friend joined me and she had the quiche it was so wet and soggy and she also felt that it was under seasoned.

The French toast with bacon and syrup is dreamy! The service is also good & the food is not that badly priced. I like how open the restaurant is & its great sitting in the warm sun outside. Will definitely be back!

French toast to live for! Bacon is cooked perfectly and the syrup is generous. Eggs cooked to perfection and friendly service. They make a mean milkshake too if you're in the mood for something sweet.

Really nice setting. Although inside a shopping center, it is possible to sit outside. <br/><br/>Service was good. And the menu looks quite interesting. Only having coffee for now, but will be back 😄😄

Peaceful cafe away from the Hatfield buzz. Lovely way to start your day with none other than the Classic Grenadine breakfast. I recommend the Caffè latte as a drink. The staff is generally friendly but is often really busy. The manager/owner only seems to pay interest to his regulars, not once has he approached me, or smiled in my direction. Nonetheless, it is a very relaxed spot for tasty food.

I went to Grenadine for a quick afternoon treat. Nice atmosphere and lots of space. There is a nice selection of tasty baked goods on display. Unfortunately the service was fairly unfriendly and slow.<br/><br/>I just had a lime milkshake which delicious 🍦
Ushir Bhoolia
Service is crappy, ambiance is non existent and treat you like they are doing you a favour. Menu is misleading ordered a brioche French toast and got served regular white bread. UNACCEPTABLE

The food here is delicious and there are a variety of different options to choose from. I find it a little overpriced but the portion sizes are normally quiet large. The wraps are always yummy and this is normally my go-to however I recently tried their beef prego and was quiet disappointed - will stick to wraps in future. Service tends to be a bit lack-luster at times.

My first visit after many years, and must say it was not what I was hoping for, the waiter acted as he knew everything and was more busy trying to entertain us, then to concentrate on actual service. The croissant was very nice.

A lovely cafe with a Mediterranean flair! Had some time to kill in the area so found this spot for breakfast. The menu is great, there are nice options for any meal time and the Mediterranean twist on meals are divine. Portions are perfect and they are not shy on ingredients. The owner/manager was very welcoming and the atmosphere was very warm and open, I loved the Mediterranean music and classic cafe decor. If you are new the area (like me) this is a safe spot for a good meal.

From outside Cafe Grenadine gives the impression of an ordinary coffee shop. But looks can be deceiving.<br/>Inside it is roomy with ample seating available. <br/>A pleasant buzz of conversation with lovely music in the background.<br/>For me the perfect table this morning was just inside the open double doors to the outside seating. In the shade with a much needed cooling breeze. <br/>They are licenced. On the menu are Portugese choices among the usual coffee shop fare.<br/>Turkish delight cocktail in a wide rimm glass with plenty crushed ice. Not shaken nor stirred, my first sip was neat white curacao - it got better with every further sip!<br/>Prego with beef strips: the fillet strips tender. The prego sauce & salsa served separate so one is able to control the heat of your dish - good idea. Potato cubes was what I call institutional roasted potato - roasted then kept warm which take away the crispness. It was delicious nevertheless.<br/>Segafreddo coffee afterwards was good. <br/>Management was present.<br/>

Grenadine's has a lovely atmosphere and very varied seating which makes it easy to be comfortable whether you're on a date, having lunch with friends or family, or just having some coffee while you read and wait for someone. <br/>The staff and service is generally pretty good- occasionally you might wait a bit longer or have to correct an order, but then there are staff there that will surprise you with great service too.  <br/>The food- being the most important part- is why I rated lower than I would have other wise. It's almost like a menu was set up when they opened and never changed, even when the kitchen staff has. Orders are brought with elements missing or completely different from how they are described on the menu (sauteed onions rather than caramelized, for instance), coffee comes often with a layer of oil or grease on the top, and drinks like fruit juice is almost always room temperature. <br/>One final quibble is with the quintessential quick-bite-to-eat with coffee meal: Scones. It's silly, but the fact that you can only have either cheese or (unsweetened) cream niggles at me. Scones are generally, even under the best of circumstances- dry. I'd say having both cream and cheese is almost a necessity with a scone, but I suppose it's not the end up the world. <br/><br/>Overall, the vibe, most of the staff and especially the very friendly, very helpful managerial team make it a nice place for an afternoon repast.

Popped in this afternoon for a quick a milkshake on this boiling hot day. Milkshakes here are the perfect size. Not too large which sometimes leaves one feeling so full and sometimes even sick. They only have the basic flavours but they are delicious, think and creamy and the little marshmallows on top were really cute. This is a nice looking restaurant and I will definately like to come back to try the food! Service was quick and friendly.

The service is always slow and very poor.<br/>If you looking for a breakfast on a Sunday they are about your only option, but won't be coming back again.<br/><br/>If you looking for a good coffee, rather go to aroma across the road.

I have frequently stopped by this lovely restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and coffee dates. While I do enjoy every visit, the service has never been phenomenal; the staff are not particularly friendly and orders take a while to arrive.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. My scone was a bit dry and they forgot the cream to go with it. I enjoyed catching up on some work and I could charge my laptop at one of their plugs. The reason for my rating would be for the food and because I had to ask for the bill twice.

Breakfast at Grenadine never really dissapoints, good coffee, healthy options and a cozy feel to it. We just had the Classic Grenadine breakfast this morning with poached eggs and rye bread - done perfectly. I support them regularly and will continue to do so. Went here again and this time I ordered the balsamic grilled chicken deli sandwich on rye - wow! It was really good and a nice change from having a normal breakfast.

Grenadine is situated in the most convenient place for students, soccer moms and business associates in the Hatfield area looking for a quick bite to eat during their lunch time break or a relaxed coffee on a cold winter's day. <br/><br/>Whilst the staff are incredibly friendly, I have found that service is lacking in certain areas. Coffee is brought to the table cold, toasted sandwiches are slightly soggy, and general service is a bit slow. <br/><br/>Saying this however, the food has been of a good standard and the atmosphere is really rather warm. <br/><br/>It is still a favourite Saturday morning coffee experience.

Excellent service and great food! Waitresses are fast and always smiling and friendly! Always tentative and checking up on you <br/>Highly recommended for someone who has an hour lunch or is pressed for time!

Really lovely cafe in Lynnwood with friendly waiters. The Raphaelo wrap is a fresh vegetarian wrap that has lovely flavors. The Mega burger is tasty and filling. Lovely place to go for tea and cake.

Cafe Grenadine, Lynnwood , a great restaurant for breakfast and coffee! But perfect even for lunch and delicious pastries! This was definitely not my last visit.

Cool place. There's a really nice vibe in here. I just finished the california nachos and I must say they were good. Our waitress was very nice. I can recommend cafe Grenadine for a light lunch on the weekend.

I really do like the food here. The coffee is also delicious. It is centrally located so very convenient. You can have breakfast all day long. The music is subtle but not too soft. The staff smile at you. Service isn't particularly fast but not slow either. I suppose when it really gets busy it can be an issue. Parking isn't great but that's just the way the grounds have been designed. It seems like local business people hang out here.
