Absolutely love this place! Great food, awesome ambiance and friendly staff. Their brownie is one I could have every single day! Also, their BBQ T-bone steak, the best in PTA!

Went here for a birthday party. It was great. Im not the tipe of person that loves spicy food but damn those tomato relishes an tacos were great.
I tried the pulled pork burrito and was pleasantly surprised. Nice big portions, all jam packed with flavour. Big ups to the friendly staff always ready to take an order or take away the dishes.

Really average food, small portions and nothing to say i want to go back.... Definitely not a place if you want to taste a piece of Mexico!-

This place really surprised me. We went on a Tuesday night (all you can eat tacos) we decided against the all you can eat and I’m glad we did as the portions are generous. The pulled pork tacos were amazing. The place was really quiet though.

Vibrant, unusual yet fiesta-like aura
Very great vibe, good tasting food and personable staff. Our first time but it won't be our last. Recommended for the quick after work drink for the 30s crowd

Absolutely brilliant. I recently visited the states, and Salsa Libre holds up to what we had there. If not better. The pulled pork fajitas were amazing, and you pour a great tequila sunrise. Highly recommended, we'll be back

I am very fond of Mexican cuisine after I have been introduced to it a few years ago in America. I have always been on the lookout for a place that can give me a glipse of the delicious food that I have eaten so long ago. Salda Libre gave me just that. I had their Beef Burrito and it had all of the elements that makes a good burrito. I also tried the Tequila Sunrise cocktail which was very refreshing! I was just disappointed that they did not have hard shell tacos, but overall it was a phenomenal taste experience.

Great quantity and quality mexican food and music, friendly and efficient staff. This place is a must if you want to break away from substandard franchise grub, it's clear management has been round the food block.

I decided to try out recently opened Salsa Libre as its in a neighboring hood to the one I live in. It's location in the shopping complex isn't so great (a little hidden) but the premises themselves are spacious and decorated in typical tex-mex style with both inside and outside seating. Being a lazy Sunday, I went for takeaway as I wanted to eat in the comfort of my home. Because I wanted to try more than one dish for review purposes, I decided to go for a chimichanga and taco. I had a very yummy (but still not potent enough) frozen margarita while I waited.

The Chimichanga was yu-mmy. Absolutely yummy! Oh gosh! I loved how the flour tortilla had an ever so light sweet taste to it. It was perfectly fried too. To be clear, the tortilla wasn't overly sweet. You taste the slight sweetness only when you bite into the tortilla alone. I had the beef chili and it was so good. Rice, cheese, beans and ground beef. I'd say that the only downer is that it wasn't chili enough. I had to add my own hot sauce at home to give it that 'zing'. Once I did, I also added the fresh cream and tomato, cucumber and pepper relish and BOOM! The flavour just skyrocketed. I really was impressed with this chimichanga.

The pulled pork taco was so, so. It's a soft shell and what i appreciate is that it didn't fall apart as a result of sogginess as sometimes happens with soft shell tacos. Also, it's the right thickness (sometimes some soft shell tacos are too doughy in an effort to prevent the whole soggy situation), which makes for a really light taco bites of which are easily chewable. However, the onions were too vinegary and overpowered the taste of the rest of the ingredients, which were the pork and coleslaw. The slaw had raisins, which was a nice touch but honestly, the red onions were way too pickled for any of the other ingredients to have an effect on the taste dynamic of the taco as a whole. I'd say remove them before you dig in or if anyone that works there reads this, drop them altogether from this taco or reduce the amount of vinegar used to pickle them. The pork itself was alright, not too 'overdone' in terms of taste (i.e. not too sweet) and consistency (not wet or oversoaked in sauce as can be the case with pulled pork). It was just alright and unfortunately, I can't quite say what it lacked that prevented it from being 'great'; maybe they need to experiment with their pork marinade recipe a little more.

I will add that the service was very quick and friendly. I was greeted as I walked in and all the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. My frozen (most likely premix) margarita didn't take ages to arrive and the food was ready within 10 minutes of the order being placed. This may have to do with menu options being premade, and they simply heat it up or assemble it, which doesn't require much time. I don't mind food coming out quickly, as long as premixing or pre-cooking it doesn't affect the taste quality.

—————————————-
So it’s 2019 now and I’ve been a regular patron of what is now called Texican. Their food still rocks (seriously. I’ve tried everything) and they’re up there together with Jo Mexican & El Pistolero (because I’m a Mexican food fundi) BUT guys, please listen to our feedback: a traditional, shaken Margarita does not have ice. A margarita is the hallmark/signature of Mexican alcoholic drinks. Please do it justice. Also, your clientele know what’s up. Your manager tried to argue with & tell me that a SHAKEN margarita has ice!!! Also, please buy a crusher. Also, as a Mexican joint, at least serve margaritas in the appropriate glass. It’s not Hooters. And rim the glass with salt. Do it right. This is in reference to the traditional margaritas (as it’s called on your menu).

I’ve grown tired of being served a fake margarita that I’m even willing to drive all the way from Equestria to Garsfontein to frequent Jo Mexican or El Pistolero cos they get margaritas right.

But seriously, everything else still remains 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Tacos, burritos & especially the chimichangas. Still my favourite of all the local Mexican joints. Keep it it. But fix the margarita.

We decided to give this place a try despite the 3.1 rating it had when we looked. And I am so glad that we did!

It was reasonably priced, with generous portions. The food was very good - it was decided my enchilada was the best, but the fujita and chimichanga were also good. (The fujita wrap was smaller than expected, but that is probably a standard side since it was around the size of a taco wrap.)

The menu was a lot more extensive than what was here on Zomato, and we were able to get cocktails as well - can't have Mexican without margaritas.

Service was also very good. The waiter kept tabs on us, as did the owner/manager.

All in all, I think I will be coming back when I crave Mexican again.

Lovely restaurant, the food was amazing, and I really enjoyed the burger I had. Service was lacking a bit despite us being the only people in the restaurant.
The manager is very friendly and attentive, the menu is priced well for the portion sizes.
Pity it doesn't really cater for my vegetarian boyfriend, but we will definitely go again.

Menu is intriguing, but does not allow for variations. Food was average, service was poor, ambiance was OK. I give it a low rating but find myself accepting the fact that I will go back.

Excellent service and very tasty food, good variety of typical Mexican food.. The owner made it so easy to choose our favourite. Love to come again.

I just happened to pass by this place and I was immediately intrigued by its Spanish music (plus I've just really been looking for a good Mexican place close to me). I had the beef fajitas and all in all I found it pretty tasty and filling. I think what showed more promise was the menu because I was so excited to try literally everything. Everything looked good. I'll definitely be heading back to try out something else.

This gem of a Mexican restaurant doesn't disappoint. We tried various dishes and each and every one came up tops! I would definitely recommend coming hungry and don't hold back on ordering a variety to sample. See you soon Salsa Libre!!
