Review Oppi Plaas - Pretoria

I have had a great experience dinning on multiple occasions at Oppiplaas. 1. It's Dog friendly which is GREAT!! I 99% only go to pet friendly restaurants. 2. Really great value for money, large portions for a very reasonable price and also great specials. 3. Nice atmosphere with a large kids area, music and TVs for sport. Will definitely be one of your regular customers! A gem in the moot! Keep up the great work!

Great food at affordable prices. Loved the pap & kaiings with lamb kidneys extra. Waiters are friendly and neatly dressed.

Definitely a lovely place. The food was wholesome and tasty, although the service was a little slow... The prices are AMAZING for the amount of food you get and it's real value for money! Would definitely recommend it! The bathrooms are also out-of this world cool and so clean and well kept! 👌

Ample parking, easy to reach from the main roads and reliable car guard to ensure your vehicle safety. Very spacious inside with adequate seating and friendly quick service. The food is exemplary, served warm and tasty. Pricing is fair and good value.

The food was good , worth it for sure!!!on arrival there where no service so we looked for a waiter ourselfs... In the end, after our waiters changed, no explanation but do understamd if they have there own sections, the waiter was not as present as we wanted had to search most of the time. There was a great atmosphere. But the drink prices are quite expensive.

We're a group of friends who meet up every now and then to catch up. This time we chose to have breakfast at Oppiplaas and were delighted that they have a smoking area as some eateries have done away with their smoking areas. Their menu offers a wide variety of delicious dishes. They are fairly priced and you definitely get your money's worth. The staff are friendly and professional. I think they serve the best kaiings by far but the rest of what we ordered were just as awesome. We will return for sure.

We enjoyed the food and drink. The waiter was quick and very friendly. The place is very beautiful. Only wish there was soft music playing.

The place was stunning! People are beautiful! We waited very long for out waitress though but had the best checkups from everyone else around. Definitely see me again.

I would firstly like to thank Jonas for the exceptional service he gave to our table. He was extremely helpful and a great waiter. What a wonderful atmosphere and food.

A typical boere vibe with food that you have known your whole life. Very friendly and polite waiters that love to assist you. Of course, as everyone says, TRY THE PAP AND KAIINGS. I have never liked kaiings until Oppiplaas made me decide otherwise.

We go there often. Took the inlaws there for a breakfast and they were very impressed with the service and the food. Staff are always helpful.

The place is packed in the morning especially on weekends. They offer a real boere breakfast if you can find a space to sit , they send pap and kaaings for a snack while you wait for your food . Waiters are on the ball

Enjoyed our time here. We ordered the Nr1 and Nr2 basket to share. Normal pub food.. enjoyed the vibe with friends. Got some back talk from our waiter which was unnecessary. This is a great place to have chatch up drinks with friends.

A unique take on restauranting. Oppiplaas goes the traditional route with many of their dishes. Clearly a very popular spot for breakfasts, and it's obvious why when you taste the pap and kaiings! A mini portion is served with a few of their breakfasts, or a full portion can be ordered. A few other favourites like skilpadjies and skaapniertjies also pop up on the menu. Service was not great, but considering that we visited over a long weekend, it is excusable. Definitly a place to consider for breakfasts with a plaas twist!

Pleasant vibe, nice atmosphere for a every day kind of meal. Pizzas, steaks, and more. Service is generally good but when they get very busy they seem to get a little slack. Overall a nice place to eat.

Food is not to bad. Not a big variety on the menue. They don't always have the drinks you want. This place is always full. I don't like places that you have to wait to be seeded

Enjoyable atmosphere and value for money breakfast. The pap and kaings definitely a winner. Always a nice break early on a weekend. Will return again.

Friendly service, food was very good good but be warned Jalapeño poppers bite! Music was not too bad. Atmosphere was very relaxed. Very good prices, value for money.

Waiters are mixed up so you sometimes get someone who is quick and great them sometimes you get someone who is slow and not so great at serving.

Food is also mixed, otherwise the food is good for the quality and quantity you pay for.

I had the worst Women's Day Experience at Oppiplaas. We received a very friendly welcome from the Hostess at the door. She gave us a table and said the waiter will be with us shortly. after 10min the Hostess came to take our drink order. 15min later a waitress gave one of our drinks not sure if the rest of the drinks was for us. We were only 2 adults and a child. Then again the Hostess took our food order because our waitress was no where to be seen. After a while we received our food from the waitress but no Utensils or salt/pepper. Then the waitress ran and got us Utensil without napkins just putting them down on the table and off she went. We had to get us salt and pepper from another table and i had to take tissues from my bag to use as napkins. No spoons were given for the cup with pap & kaiings. The food was not up to standard to what we are use to. then after we ate we stood up and walked out without anyone noticing. We waited at the entrance for the Hostess and asked for the bill as we have not seen our waitress again. We felt sorry for the Hostess, she was more of a waitress trying to keep everyone happy. Oppiplaas is a very popular venue on special holidays such as women's day, mother's day, father' day. They need to be better prepared.

Breakfast was very good and I loved the pap and kaiings. The atmosphere was pumped and there was too many peeple for my taste. Im was suprised about the price of food and drinks

If like like a good breakfast that won't leave you hungry this is it... had the Oppiplaas breakfast and it came with a side order of pap n kaaings.. most people dont like them but I really enjoyed it.. Eggs done right with lots of bacon and n 'boerewors'.. service was a bit slow because its was very busy due to its popularity.. good value for money. About R60 for a very descent breaki!! Go try it out y'all!! Ps: i over-looked the chipped crockery since the food was awesome.. 😜

Hierdie restaurant is bo gemiddeld en stel nooit teleur kosse is altyd smaaklik en diens altyd vriendelik. Nog nooit n stel afgetrap nie. Sal almal aanbeveel die atmosfeer is altyd rustig en kalmerend

There are only a few restaurants that do offer something on their menu that you crave from time to time. Oppiplaas offers traditional Afrikaans pap & kaiings (fried pork rind) and it's to die for. The restaurant is not for the connoisseur but do give you good food at a very reasonable price. The service is not dependable as I have received great service at times and then sometimes not at all. This is easy dining folks and one's expecations shouldn't be too high. Expect good food and do try the pap & kaiings. Delicious!!

Had an awesome breakfast, eggs cooked to perfection, yummiest basted boerewors I've ever tasted! Thank you for the excelent service provided, friendeliest staff and over all good vibes. Well done!

What can I say?!
Being welcomed by the friendliest staff and served "proper home meals", I have fallen completely in love with this restaurant.

I brought my gran through from Benoni to taste the pap & kaaings as it took her back to her childhood. She was far from disappointed and cannot wait to bring her friends for a breakfast date, too.

The meals are very flavoursome, simple and reasonably priced!

Next off of the menu is some jam jars with friends!

Little hidden gem in Waverley. This outdoor, farmy atmosphere is great for a Saturday lunch or Sunday breakfast. It is always busy and loud, but in a great way. The traditional "Pap n Kaaings" is always a hit. The burgers are massive, but so yummy. Great place to kuier!

The BEST Afrikaner restuarant in Pretoria. They serve only the best boere breakfast accompanied by n potjie of Pap en Kaiings! Great vibe and great food. You can take a walk to view some plaas animals and visit the antique shop on the same premises. Lovely lovely!

Love this place. Im from Pretoria east and will go the distance to Moot area just to eat and have the nice varity of draughts and great time with family and friends. Waiters are friendly and very talkative. Thumbs upJohn Wylie and Charne Wylie

Afrikaner food. Lovely PAP AND KAAIINGS served with breakfast. It's real KAAIINGS not bacon bits. Served in a black potjie pot. Freshly baked old fashioned BOER BROOD. I'd go here for breakfast any Saturday!

A really hot hangout in the Moot/Waverley area. Popular among the Afrikaans culture and for it's casual atmosphere. Had an enjoyable breakfast at Oppiplaas one morning. One or two nice vegetarian options, but I wouldn't recommend it. Great if you're into big portions and lots of meat at a decent price. Popular among young and old.

We haven't been here in a while, my boyfriend and I absolutely loved going to Oppiplaas on a Saturday morning to have a breakfast to get our day started. Unfortunately the last time we went we were disappointed, the portions were smaller, the food was cold and the waitress didn't know what she was doing. Will be a long while before we think of going back there.

An enjoyable out door venue that does everything well from the tasty breakfasts with pap and kaaiings to the delicious baskets on the lunch menu. The steaks are also great. The service is good and the prices are reasonable.

This must be the biggest attraction in the Moot. The only time it's quite is on Mondays when they're closed. Comfortable outside garden type area with typical bar food. I've heard the pap en kaaings are good but I haven't had the courage yet. Definitely a good spot for a beer after work. Be sure to check out the printing press museum across from it.

Best breakfast if you had a crazy night before. But I am a sucker for crackling, pap and livers. So probably not to everyone's taste. Wish the style of the original Sinkhuis could have been kept
Stephen Coetzee
A good value for money restaurant, in a easy outdoor setting. Does great breakfasts and I enjoy the range of baskets they have on the lunch and supper menu.

As pubs go this is 1 of the better 1s in the area. I've eaten here on 3 occasions breakfast lunch and dinner. A nice vibe but depending on your chosen language you might feel slightly out of place as I always did. Food is good yet relatively pricy drinks make the trip less worth wile. I would probably not go there again as they Are to much of a community waterhole.
