Review O'galitos Montana - Pretoria

Service very poor, food highly expensive and bad quality and tasteless and they add a 10% service charge. It has the prices of a classy restaurant but not the service or the food of a classy restaurant. I hate to say this but you would eat better and cheaper at Ocean basket. Would not recommend this restaurant. They should consider rather changing their name to o Bandito.

Delicious food and a wide variety of wines. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is phenomenal. An excellent choice for anyone who enjoys good food at an affordable price. The pricing is justified for the quality of food and it might cost you a little more than the average restaurant especially when it comes to drinks but it is definitely worth it. I must recommend the half price sushi on Mondays and they have specials that only show up in the restaurant itself.

The sushi is amazing. I also recommend any of the lunch specials that they have, such as the half chicken. Service is always relatively good and the waiters are very friendly. Waiting time for food is not excessive but it is always worth the wait. I go back every once in a while especially for their sushi which has never let me down.

Wow!!! Wow!!! Wow!!! Loved the friendly and efficient staff! Loved the decor and cosy intimate atmosphere! And the food was just divine!! The way the food was presented on your plate absolutely enhanced the taste and experience! And as an added bonus the bill is very reasonable. You definitely get value for money!

Tasty food and drinks not forgetting hospitality

We chose meals from the lunch time special. Very generous portions. The rolls served before the meal was a pleasant surprise. Ambience is welcoming. Will support them again.

Delicious buffet that is filled up during the entire night. Food is prepared well. Great variety to choose from in meat, poultry, vegetables and even seafood. Good service and fair prices.

Every time I go to O'galitos for a meal, I am never disappointed. The service and food is always to a high standard. The prices are good and not outrageous like some places. Many thanks to you all, and well done

I went their for their weekday special. It really was delicious and good value for money. The service was very good and the restaurant has a lovely ambience. Thank you and I will be back again.

This is just a below average restaurant with below par food and above average prices. Their Camembert burger was very underwhelming due to the failure of the sauce, nonetheless the waiter was kind and very enjoyable.<br/><br/>They also serve Vat 69 for their whiskey specials, which, in my opinion, should never be served in a restaurant, it is not a student bar. It is a restaurant. I personally found this very disappointing but if whiskey is not your thing then that shouldn't phase you at all, after all you cant mess up a beer.

Went for a breakfast buffet. Food selection was not bad for that price. Service was ok. Best part was the egg station. My omelette was quite good. The look of the place is nice. Overall experience was just ok.

Not at all horrible. But if I'd seen a cheaper menu I'd been more prepared for what I got. Prawns rather tasty and spicy but extremely overcooked. Unable to pull a prawn from the shell. Total mush. Mussel starter drenched and immersed in a stodgy sauce. Clam starter overcooked until hardly any clam meat was left in the dish. Better described as a clam flavoured tomato and onion sauce. Flavours were subtle and pleasant though. Calamari main disappointingly sparce for the price compared to other dishes. Served on a huge plate with a prominent load of starch and a few scatterings of calamari. Good value if you're prepared to settle for decent enough taste but not up to scratch when compared to similar restaurants in the vicinity offering more and better for the same price for just a fraction more. Cost cutting is unfortunately very evident in the presentation and serving. I dearly hope that standards will be restored as O'Galito usd to be a favourite treat before the decline.

Service is great, you are met with a smile and the waiter is fast and professional.<br/><br/>Food is great, definitely 100% quality and quantity for what you pay for.<br/><br/>I recommend coming here for a date night.

Very good place to have a function. Had a birthday party with 70 guests. The food and was very good. Waiters (even though they said they were short staffed) were constantly there, friendly and eager to assist. We could decorate the place and was assisted by a minimum of 2 peole to help the whole time during set up, even helping me carry the decor from my car. <br/>If not for the unfriendly receptionist Risty, I would have rated this place a 5.<br/>Also tried the buffet breakfast a couple of times an it is top class.

Was just here for lunch. The atmosphere was cool and the food was great. I wanted more chilli in my food though but I have come to accept that people in this country are afraid of hot food so even when you ask for it, they think you don't mean it.

A friend of mine was treating me to brunch, we unfortunately just missed the breakfast buffet so we had to wait for the kitchen to set up for lunch. We were told that this would take a minute but that we could order drinks so long, which we did. Upon finishing our drinks and ordering another round we started to wonder if the kitchen would be ready as we had been sitting for close to an hour at that point. We were finally informed that the kitchen is ready and we could place our order, it took a further 30 minutes before we had our meal but goodness was the calamari worth the wait. I snagged a whole lot from my friends plate and was feeling quite regretful for not order that with the squid head. I went for Mozambican prawns with a garlic beer sauce which wasn't quite to my liking the garlic and beer still had a very raw taste to them as though it was flash fried and not left to simmer for a bit, I'm not too certain if I would go again, but if by chance I do I would defiantly go for the grilled calamari and squid heads.

Very dangerous for unattached females eat here. Complained to management in person following a very serious incident. So this establishment will never see us again. I have not received any feedback whatsoever after a serious allegation. <br/>Not a phone call. So please be warned to those ladies who think they are safe eating in a restuarant. You are not, you are watched and targeted.<br/>

I have not been there for about 14 months!! Now I know why! This is a Spur for grownups!! I had a seafood pot or something! Taste was not to bad. The rice was some pre made stuff that was stored in a plastic container in a freezer awefull!! You could have add more plain fish to the dish! The cherry Ice cream was horrible! The cherries was old from a metal can with no taste!! You decor is showing its age!! The breakfast buffet is a great find! Been twice with my parents who live out that way. And a bargain! R39.90! Choice of omelettes, with bacon, beans, mince, boerewors, chicken livers, Thai chicken curry, pap en sous. There's also yoghurts and fruit salad with cereal with toast. We booked to sit out on the patio which is nice and cool for breakfast. For that price, a win!

My wife and I celebrated my birthday on the 18th of July starting with a breakfast @ O'Galito Montana. Expecting the best there is for the fine dining they famous for ( a couple years ago) to my surprise I was not very impressed with the breakfast. It was dull and cold .... I guess that is what U get for paying the 39R job. Sorry but I did not enjoy that at all.

Not what I expected at all based on my experience years ago in Savoy. The food was pathetic, all 4 dishes we ordered. Since it was on a Monday evening my suspicion is that it was the leftovers from the weekend. You will never see me again!!!

Dinner with friends at O'Galito. Nice experience. We had a good waiter, so the service was nice and friendly. Really enjoyed the food (had springbok capaccio and the jelapino fillet). Everyone enjoyed their food, so I think I will be back for some more.

Absolutely amazing serene environment. The advise is the chicken curry! The rice portion is small, but the chicken is cut cubes. Eating made easy. Awesome service and a very clean venue!

Great place for an early weekend buffet breakfast Not an extremely large variety to chose from, but at such a low price you can't really make demands. The setting is a bit more fancy than just a regular quick breakfast at a mall. Good choice if you want to impress someone first thing in the morning and still stay within your budget!

I have been to O'Galito's a few times, but my overall experience was not what I expected from a restaurant of its class. The décor of this restaurant is great and sets a nice and romantic atmosphere at night.  Unfortunately the tables are squeezed in thus spoiling that mood.  The service is also not always up to standard.The steaks I have tried was nothing extraordinary and lagged flavour and innovation.  Their ribs are sometimes great and on other occasions tough to eat. O'Galito's also offer buffet breakfasts on weekends, but as someone who loves variety (especially when it comes to breakfasts), I feel the options are very limited and the price you are paying is not worth the food available to you.

Before all the other fancy places opened in my area, this was the place to go when you want to celebrate something or enjoy good food. Over the years, they have lost that something extra that they once had. The food is good though and the service average, you get good and bad days. All in all a good place with lovely wine selections :)

Very disappointed. Went there for a nice lunch. Special is well priced. I don't mind waiting for good food but then atleast get the order right. We ordered a well done steak and received a bloody still rare steak. Sent it back. Recieved the same steak stil not well done. Called the manager and he took it back again. Meanwhile I had to continue eating otherwise my food would get cold. By the time my partner received his steak back my food was done and I asked for a takeaway. Sat there awkwardly staring at him eat. By the time he was done we stood up to go pay the bill. Had to ask again for my takeaway at the and then the manager sent someone to go look for it. Received it in a broken takeaway box and no propper apologies.

I've been to this restaurant a few times, and it has always been average. The menu looks really good but the food never lives up to expectation. The sushi is overpriced if you order it as a takeaway, and although it hasn't made me sick it's never as fresh as you want it to be. I also think a restaurant at this price point should make home made chips as their starch leaves much to be desired. One thing that irritates me a lot was that I had to pay R7 extra for takeaway containers which is unacceptable, that should be worked into their cost and pricing. I think I've given this restaurant enough chances and probably won't go back.

Although I have only had cocktails there, they were pretty good. The food passing by looked amazing, but I have not tasted yet! Prices are a bit steep, but I will gladly return!
