Review Woodstock Urban Pizzeria - Pretoria

Excellent pizza proper wood fired thin base. Superb toppings and good value Not the cheapest pizza but you definitely get what you pay for in quality and service. Nice atmosphere too. Once again a stunning meal atmosphere and service.

Recommended to me on tiktok and lived up to it. My boyfriend and I got takeaways and the pizza was phenomenal. Definitely in the top 2 in SA for me but best in gauteng. We LOVED it. We will definitely be back soon. Owners were lovely and friendly. Chatted to us for a while when we were leaving and told us a bit more about the pizza

My Family disagree, but I rate this the best pizza restaurant in Pretoria. If you’re a fan of thin pizza bases, and pizza’s done to perfection, this is where you want to eat pizza! Unpretentious and tucked away just off Garsfontein mid way between Solomon Mahalangu and January Masilela (spelling….) drive. Their smoking area is great for winter nights…but it is tucked away and lacks the summer appeal we’re generally looking for. The advantage is that it is near the pizza oven…so you’ll be cozy and have some ambiance on those colder nights. We’ve met the owner a few times and he puts so much love and effort into his restaurant as well as into ensuring you’ve enjoyed your food and drink. Alcohol is sold on premise, so no need to worry about having to take your own or having to drink coffee with your pizza :))) They also have alternate dishes if your extended crowd don’t all eat pizza…pasta, chicken dishes etc. etc. Thanks to the team at Woodstock for always delivering consistently amazing food! P.S. – if you’re going here on a winter evening book in advance to avoid sitting on the deck outside – although it has roll down screens, it can be nippy…otherwise take a jacket!

Woodstock Urban Pizzeria has become a regular favourite of ours their woodfired pizzas are delicious and unique - try their signature Woodstock pizza! They always have good wine to go with their food, their prices are fair and the vibe is on point. I always have my Shazam app on the ready, they play stunning music - am yet to attend their quizz night events!

Actually came to Cactus creek next door but learnt it had recently closed down. Decided to try Woodstock as we were there already. Very pleasantly surprised, very delicious pizza, friendly service and good coffee.

We just moved to the area and had supper here . Pizza was amazing and I had the full chicken and must say it is the the best I had in years . The owner himself greeted and seated us and he really makes you feel welcome. Will definitely be spending more time here .

Good pizza and food. Well made cocktails. Friendly owner/manager and staff, but service was a bit slow and that was without many people in there.

Good pizza. Good Wednesday special for couples. Really nice atmosphere. Disappointed in service, ordered tap water just in the beginning just to go through the menu, and the waiter looked displeased. It really soured the mood. The entrance was unclear, so we walked to the wrong side of the building. We mistook the front door for the back because the two waiters were sitting on their phones at the front door. We parked right at the front door, looked directly at the waiters, they noticed us and just kept talking amongst themselves, so we figured it was the wrong entrance, and they were not waiters. Only after walking to the wrong entrance did we realize we were right from the beginning and the people sitting and chatting while on their phones were in fact, waiters. Would come again, but I expect better service.

Leon and Lisa are busy revamping and adding their special touch. Lunch menu is great value for money and palate. Strongs to you both as you make this place special.

Great pizza restaurant. Some the best pizza I had. Friendly service. Also offers take-out.

The service was exceptional. My daughter ordered four pizzas and arranged for my wife and I to collect it. As I stopped the car the friendly, neatly dressed and well spoken waiter was there and informed us of the remaining waiting time and payment. We paid and soon he was there with the pizzas and offered to put it in the boot. The service was excellent and the pizzas even better. They have me hooked.

This is a great spot! Myself and a friend went for their date night special on a Wednesday and I must say we had a lovely evening. The pizza was amazing , perfect thin base with a yummy crust from their wood fire oven . Well worth the money .

This place was very busy due to a party. The result the 3 waiters and 1 barman were running around like crazy. Service was slow, I felt very sorry for our waiter. Pizza was good, but arrived cold. Often we walked to the bar to get our own drinks
A owner/manager needs to ensure they have enough staff on shift they are not geared to serve and make money

Exquisite! Pity I could only fit one pizza in. Thank you! I have heard of this place for ages until finally it had to be put to the test. Everybody had spoken so highly, especially about the commotion there for example quiz night and even all you can eat pizza, Exquisite! Thank you Waltie!

What a lovely place. Brilliant pizza!! Nice affordable bottle of wine and relaxing vibes make for a good evening. Will be back for sure and can highly recommend it to all.
Amazing Pizza!!!! I’m honestly speechless. The base was neither too thick or thin and each pizza was unique, but overall there was a cohesion in the excellence in which they were prepared.
From L to R: The S.A.P.S Pizza, The Woodstock Pizza, The F.A.B.ulous Pizza.
I personally give the S.A.P.S Pizza a perfect ten!
Great food with very nice oven baked pizza. Service was friendly and very professional. Relaxing environment with music playing in the background.

I wish I could fully review this restaurant, but the restaurant "lost" our booking and it was fully booked out for a function. We were literally turned away! When I made the booking, with the same number as is listed on Zomato, the person sounded amused. Incompetence is bad, but insolence is even worse. I won't be returning, but I would say that the decor looked very nice.

Had a lovely evening as allways at woodstock. Best pizzas! Great food and very good and friendly service by Witness our waiter. So nice to have the choice of splitting pizzas.

we bought take-aways last night and both myself and my husband absolutely loved the pizzas, the base is very thin and crispy, great woodoven taste, pizzas were perfect and we cannot fault them! I had hawaiin which I haven't had in probably 10 years and my husband had the fire engine, will be back for more!

It was a Sunday afternoon and I was in the mood for a long lazy lunch and Pizza , so decided to try Woodstock.
Decor ... rustic yet hip the decor is inspired by the Woodstock era that was the pop culture music event of the decade and arguably to this day the single most profound event in the history of music. It comes across in the art and music which is pretty awesome!
The Vibe ... laid-back, so chilled and cosy. The staff... friendly and helpful, no complaints.
Service ... was good, waited a bit long for the pizzas but it was absolutely worth the wait.
The food ... we had the "Don't be fooled" and "Woodstock" and it was amazing, so yum! The Roti's are new on the menu and they looked incredible, will definitely try that next time. So overall a great experience.

Dropped by tonight having passed it several times. The restaurant was dead quiet; not a good sign for a Wednesday evening. Service was pleasant but slow. The young lady was friendly but everything took ages. Ordered their lamb pizza with olives and after a long while, it arrived... and it was cold! I asked the waitress to reheat it, but by then it was soggy. How does a pizzeria that is quiet, mess things up? By believing that they know better! Their menu espouse how good they are, but sadly they miss the main issues.... fresh, tasty hot food. Wouldn't be my 1st or 2nd choice. Guys, go back to the basics and make quality your main priority.
"There must be some kind of way out of here" said the joker to the thief," There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief - Jimi Hendrix
What a sigh of relief to cross paths with this gem! Vibey, cosy, funky and lightly upbeat with an afro- american / slightly Italian heritage. Pizza is a must have, and the service exceeds all expectations!!

A great concept for a pizzeria in Garsfontein. The ambiance is great and the setting as well.

The service was okay, we had to remind our waiter about our drinks and waited very long unbeaten drinks, ordering food and the bill.

The kitchen is so far from the tables and the waiter has to walk a distance to being 2 plates of food, so guaranteed that some pizzas will be cold by the time it gets to you.

The pizzas was good, good selection. There isn't much else on the menu if you didn't want pizza. I would've loved a standard caprese salad at least.

The gins and beers are not in the menu. But the only 2 gins they have are 2 stock standard cheap ones. In fact only one was available.

Overall, okay... Wouldn't tell anyone about it and won't return out of choice.
Gave this place a second chance. cause I believe in 2nd chances even though most people would probably never go back after our last experience.
However I give this place 2 stars for tasty pizza but we experienced constant dissapointment when they were out of stock of so many things we ordered. From cream to chicken wings to beetroot for their beetroot salad, to decaf coffee. By the end of every course not having something or other ingredient we remarked they owe us a Don Pedro for the constant inconvenience and the waiter who was nonchalant all evening rudely sneered and said WHY?? Well why shouldn't you go out of your way and offer us a complimentary coffee or Pedro for your inadequacies?? that's how the old school restaurants work and that is why they retain their clients. Needless to say I know I won't be back. POOR!!!
Delectable pizzas!!!!

We ordered 2 pizzas for takeaway at Woodstock Urban Pizzeria. One was a vegetarian pizza and the other a meat one.

Our orders took very long to arrive as the restaurant was very busy and the ones initially made for us were burnt.

Unfortunately, they mixed up our orders and gave us 2 meat pizzas. It was not practical to return to the restaurant and the vegetarian at home was rather disappointed. The restaurant manager did apologize for the mishap.

On the positive side, the chicken and lamb pizzas were absolutely delectable. Fillings were generous. Flavour combinations are unusual and tasty.

In future, I would sit in at this restaurant instead of opting for a take away.
Great place with some of the best pizza I've tasted in a while. I had the Woodstock pizza, definitely recommended! However, the service is extremely slow (as mentioned in many of the reviews). It's a bit annoying having to get up to find your waiter everytime you want to order a new drink. Hopefully they will improve this, as it was the only let down of the evening. But besides that, an awesome place with a great vibe!
Good pizza and a nice place to sit and socialize with a group of friends or grab a quick meal. They also obtained their liquor license recently and is running some great specials.

The place is informal, service was good and the pizzas were delicious. We had the Woodstock and the lamb and mint yoghurt pizza with olives. Definitely worth a visit.

What an amazing place to chill and enjoy pizza with your friends. Amazing old school music and an amazing vibe. Had the Woodstock pizza and will never be able to find another pizza to top it's taste. With the waiters it's easy to see that it's a new spot but it's a place to watch.

It's Saturday lunch time and my son and I were looking for a great pizza. We were in the area and decided to stop at Woodstock. It was not busy so the service was great. The food on the other hand was also great and a wood fired pizza is always a winner. Fresh ingredients and a nice thin base and it's impossible to go wrong. Food prep was a bit long as they were not busy and I can only imagine a wait if they do get busy. Overall a great pizza and I will be back....

Best pizza we have ever had. Thin base with loads of topping and mozzarella cheese. Would definitely recommend. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Wonderful variety of pizza. Can't wait to visit again.

Visited last night with a friend for a catch up and made a booking for 7:30pm. When we got there it wasn't busy enough to have facilitated a booking, so we were told to just seat at any open table.

I ordered the Greek pizza and my friend ordered the beef lasagna. Our food took forever to come to the table (55 minutes). Our waiter was very attentive at the beginning, but once food orders were taken he seemed to disappear, despite the tables having quietened down significantly. There was one big table, which probably took up all the capacity in the pizza oven, but at least keep us updated with regards to what is happening. My pizza was delicious and wood-fired to perfection, but my friends lasagna was super oily, mushy and she didn't feel great this morning. If you have it on the menu everything should be to the same standard. Despite those two glitches, the evening was wonderful, the pizza and vibe are delicious. They also don't have their liquor license yet, so being able to take your own wine is always a win.

Amazing, just amazing, great place for the best pizza in pretoria, really well priced and such friendly staff. The vibe is great, the food is amazing, I give them 10 thumbs up, come and support a place that lets you bring your own booze and lets you listen to awesome tunes and provides the best pizza.

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to this little Pizzeria recently, we drove up from Johannesburg and it was absolutely worth it. Small and personal with a modern artistic decor set up and the Saturdays live music was just perfect. At 1st the pizza menu seems a bit random but the thought and creativity behind the selection is just mouth watering. I ordered the 'South African' which has a sheba-base, mozzarella, bobotie spiced boerewors, peppadews and Mrs Balls mayo dressing. As far as I'm concerned, all pizza must be made by wood fire ovens, this gave their pizzas the right amount of crisp and the flavours gelled together beautifully. I had a taster from all my friends different selections and could not fault any of them.

For dessert I tried the Banana Stromboli, this if almost like a wrap done in the oven with salted caramel, banana and nuts, served with cream or ice cream. I'm not a big fan of cooked fruit but this was surprisingly tasty. If it wasn't for me living so far I would with no doubt be a regular.

Great cocktails , ambience and the pizzas are incredible, so tasty and light. Will definitely be back for a Sunday afternoon lunch. Live music

We went to Woodstock a while ago and we're still talking about the pizzas! Their pizza menu is filled with traditional choices as well as some very different options. There really is something for everyone! Pizza bases were just how bases should be and the toppings were generous and very fresh! They were all delicious!! The gin cocktails were also beautifully prepared and offered a twist on traditional cocktails! The restuarant itself had a great mix between modern and rustic which made us feel very at home! The restaurant was still pretty new at the time so there werent that many people there but I'm sure its popularity is going to grow very quickly as word spreads about this Pretoria gem!

Brilliant little gem! Decking seating is ideal for sunny days, pizzas are magnificent, brilliant cocktails! All round an amazing experience.

One of the best pizzas I've ever had. Strongly recommend this restaurant: Good service, great atmosphere and fantastic food. Their signature pizza (Woodstock pizza) is a must try😇

Go here...NOW! This place is simply brilliant! Service is excellent, food is delicious and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is laid back, usually accompanied by some live music. I had the South African pizza and, despite the fact that I was so full, I just kept wanting more! The one thing to keep in mind is that they do not have a liquor license, so you will have to bring your own beers or wine with (but this really is not an issue in the slightest for most people.) If you haven't tried Woodstock yet, you need to!

Some of the nicest pizza we have had in a long time. The thin crust is amazing. They dont have a liquor licence yet so take your own alcohol. My only recommendation would be that they get an extra pair of hands stationed at the pizza oven. The restaurant was busy and the food was very slow as there was only one guy making pizza. We will definately go back.

Celebrated a friends birthday here last week. Very nice place, and vibe. We ordered 'one of everything' and every pizza they brought out during the evening was more delicious than the last! our eyes were way bigger than our tummies, and we left with 10 doggy bags haha Enjoyed our evening out here and look forward to visit again

A new kid on the block!! And what a great start!!

The service is quite okay (the waiters needs a bit more training/coaching ) The food is much better!

They have an interesting stromboli and a really cool dessert pizza! Good value for money in any terms.

No liquor license yet, so be sure to take your own.

We will be back 😄😄

Best pizza's I have had in Pretoria in a very long time. They definitely know what they are doing. Nice thin-based wood fired pizza. Go and have The Woodstock, for sure something different and so delicious. The staff are very efficient and friendly!

You can also take your own wine with! Bonus.

My new favourite restaurant!

I've probably had every single pizza on this menu.

They're truly something else...unique, thin crusts, oven baked to perfection, with just the right amount of toppings.

Very chilled and professional vibe, there's no noisy traffic passing by...
Fun urban interior, modern Woodstock meets SA, everything is brand new and it truly makes a difference..
Energetic staff, great service.

I can highly recommend this place!!!
Will probably be back again tonight.
