Review Coffee On 18th - Pretoria

If you’re looking for a place where to relax and read or whatever, this coffee shop would be the best. They have nice coffee available and even some fresh baked goods. The ambiance of this shop was so relaxing, and the staffs are highly capable. I could not ask for more because everything that I needed was provided. Their mince and cheese tramezzin was so delicious 😋 Well done, guys!

I went with a guest in a ♿️ wheelchair, unfortunately he could not fit in,under the table, have to sit on his side ,and eat. Oops the plate fell off on the floor with all food splashed all over the floor. The owners daughter came immediately to the rescue, calmed my wheelchair ♿️ friend down, cleaned up, the floor, offered a free refill on his food,. They brought from inside a nother table, where Douglas could slide in with the wheel ♿️. Well done Management

Great place to relax, wonderfull ambience and good atmosphere. They met my expectations and added an element of delight. Would highly recommend and have friends join.

Very cosy coffee shop. Many things are typical of the coffee shop that one would want and enjoy. Bit short staffed. Busy times 1 extra will be good to focus on tables while others can focus on getting coffee ready and orders out timeously.

Small menu, with nice pancakes, too. I like the mini library inside and the plants decorating the wall outside. A friendly neighborhood place for a quick coffee and a snack, plus they have WiFi available.

What a nice quaint coffee shop to sit under the trees on a lovely winter's day and share some special times with good friends. The service was awesome and the staff was very friendly

Pet friendly plus! Take a stroll in the area then relax here.

Their coffee comes with condensed milk for peet sake. It’s amazing! They also have some nice eateries, just be sure to check they open only the days from what I saw.

Lovely inviting atmosphere. Quiet area. Prices are affordable.

Quaint coffee shop -perfect for getting some work done in a setting that is buzzing, but not distracting. Love their condensed milk coffee! 😍 It’s a MUST. Staff are very accommodating.

Coffee on 18th is one of those perfect places to go for a good cup of coffee. Their menu offers a variety of meals for breakfast and lunch. Every time I have spent time here, the coffee was excellent, the staff professional, the food delicious, the prices very good, the surroundings quiet, and tranquil. All over a very good place, and perfect area to meet with others who enjoy it to be out and away from the rushing and noise associated with large malls.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. Everyone seemed so relaxed and easy going. Unfortunately when we were there, it was loadshedding...so it took the kitchen a bit longer to prepare our orders, but other than that the service and the food was great. I'd definitely go back.

Nice cozy atmosphere for something light to eat. Good value for money. The special of the day was steak, egg and chips/salad for only R65-00. The spinach and feta quiche with salad is really tasty. Good coffee.

Lovely retro ambiance with good coffee and friendly service.

Very relaxing atmosphere in a very calm and quiet neighborhood, almost hidden away. Coffee is okay. Great brekkie stop and good study spot. In desperate need of an upgrade and a new menu though.

Been here twice now and I must say I am not totally impressed. The coffee was not great. I suppose I’m used to Tribeca or Aroma’s coffee. The cappuccino I had was over heated and slightly bitter. The milkshakes on the other hand are not too bad. Service still needs to be desired!!! Have not been back since.

A lovely location, met by a friendly waitress whose service was matched by a perfect coffee and breakfast , nice menu with fair prices , the informal layout that i enjoy , will visit again

Very good ambience and vibe.
Service really not good and very slow.
False advertising of food pics.
This Gourmet burger is not a Gourmet burger.
Tasteless and chips tastes old.
It is a real shame.
If you're into coffee this is the place.. rustic with no fuss and just a nice meeting or catching up pozzy... They serve light treats and oh yeah sweet stuff!!!! And if you go between 4 & 6 your get coffe and cake for a reduced rate!!! Booyaa!

Good coffee, friendly service, sometimes a bit on the slow side. Not the biggest menu variety and some of the portions are on the small side. The biggest issue is when sitting outside, that there is a smoking area only devided by a step and not closed off as per regulation

A little neat coffee shop tucked away in a leafy suburb in Pretoria. The coffee is good, the atmosphere is good but please dont be in a hurry, the service is slow and laid back and portion size versus pricing is something that also needs attention. Worth another visit for the coffee experience.

Had a lovely open chicken and haloumni sandwhich for lunch. I absolutely adore the decor and the coffee variety is astounding. I would recommend this to anyone who (like me) is a coffee lover.

Love love love their coffee!!!!!!! Had a lovely breakfast. Service was friendly. But will always go back to buy a bag of coffee. Honestly some of the best coffe I have had.

The service was terrible and the food below average. The prices are definitely too high for the standard of food that they present. I would never go back there again.

Our first visit to Carl's was great. The food was decent and the Coffee although a bit bland and one dimensional, was at least fresh.

Unfortunately, the second time around the food was way below par (salad dressing drowning the bun - yuck). When I inquired whether I could substitute my salad for some chips this was denied. I understood this as some small places have a very tight kitchen and do not have time to deal with substitutions. However the aforementioned salad was the cause of the bun drenching.

However what lost them a customer was the huge price bump very suddenly as well as the most disgusting iced cappuccino I have ever had. Grainy with a very unappetizing foam.

I can say this; although the price has gone up, their Apple pie is really quite lovely.

The cocktails are very tasty!! From 3pm to 6pm buy one get one free! Lots of parking available! Good selection on the menu. I'll come and try a coffee when the weather is cooler!

Stepping into Carl's you are met with simple uncomplicated surroundings. Do not be fooled by the rustic seating and flavour of this quaint little place as it boasts a huge coffee presence. As an avid coffee drinker I enjoyed their blends and the breakfast was very tasteful. Service a bit on the slow side for my liking but being 5 kms from the Pretoria city centre, Carl's offer a space to meet, plan, kuier and relax in the nice neighborhood of Riviera & Rietondale. A bit expensive in comparison to its peers but definitely worth the trip.

Hidden away in Riviera, is this little gem that turned a difficult day into a fabulous one. The servers welcome you with warm smiles and really have good knowledge of their menu.

The food menu is simplistic but all the meals are prepared and presented with a lot of care. The freshly baked bread is a huge winner for this restaurant.

The coffee menu is definitely not simplistic. The smell of fresly roasted coffee that fills the air just changes any bad day into a good one. This Cafe offers some of the best coffee in Pretoria and the Barista really knows his stuff.

I will gladly recommend Carl's Coffee Roastry to any coffee connoisseur.

Absolutly love the place. Down to earth people running the coffee shop. Will most surely reccomend it for anyone looking for something new to try out

Great place for a lunchtime snack. This little place screams out crafty-arty and will give you a time to relax before going back to the buzz.

An intimate coffee shop in the neighbourhood that feels cozy and warm. The staff is friendly and helpful and the coffee is good. We had the flapjack breakfast which was delicious and I love the fact that they have events every once in a while where you can bring your bike, ride along and grab a coffee afterwards!

If you're looking for relaxed in an unexpected location, try Carls! Even though the focus is perhaps only on the coffee and the owners aren't that passionate about the food experience, Carls has much to offer. It is ideally located near schools in what has become the area in which you will find the odd hidden gem or two in the foodie stakes (or is that steaks).

Carls Coffee Roastry , Riviera. The perfect place for coffee anytime . The coffee was great , but service very slow. Their apple crumble pie was very dry, and overpriced.
Willem Potgieter
Just went to Carl's for the second time and I left utterly disappointed again. The décor is tacky and outdated. The rooibos iced tea was really terrible and the frozen mocha tastes like it was made with hot chocolate powder and water. No coffee flavour at all. If you are a roastery surely your coffee based drinks should be better. The service was really good though.

Best coffee in Pretoria and home of the awesome Draken beer! Food is just as awesome, some great sandwiches and burgers. Nice vibe and great area. Nog n Drakie!
Mandy Westwood
Great coffee! Couldn't afford the R200 Kopi Luwak. Also thoroughly enjoyed the craft beer (Draken). Pleasant to sit outside close to the street and service was adequate.
