Had a lunch with friends yesterday. Elliot was our waiter. Such a cool gent, so bubbly, helped recommend cocktails and meals and kept checking in on us. The food was great as always. Shoutout to Prosper for helping us with wifi connectivity🤗

10/10 all round. 3 mini burgers ridiculously excellent 👌 every ingredient was fresh, well portioned, perfectly flavoured, highly recommended. So good! Chicken prego excellent, the side sauce was so good man wow! Can tasted the Portugueseness in it 😄 Good selection of draughts & drinks, pleased to find a place serving keg Guinness & not canned ones. Good service & venue is really cool. Will return, but only if I can eat more than 3 different dishes cause I'm a pig and love good food. 👍

Had a delicious breakfast and drinks before going back home in Limpopo. Nearby parking. And the servive was great.

Vast selection of beverages. Pizza is good with a unique way of service. Staff competent and friendly. Clean with fresh decor, something between industrial and modern. Good selection of music with excellent atmosphere. Good selection of specials for every day of the week.

Good food and service. Love the vibe. Waiters are friendly and well informed. Been there 4 times. Just about the only place where you can get Macallan whiskey in Tshwane. Can not wait for the new branch in Queenswood.

Malt never disappoints. We have been going to Malt now since they first opened, and we have never been disappointed. They offer a wide variety of food, anything ranging from a burger, to a steak, to pizza. And they do it all well. They also have a wide variety of drinks. Exotic milkshakes, cocktails, a great selection of beer on tap (even craft beer) and a good selection of wines. The service is always very good and the waiters are speedy and effective in what they do. We will keep on coming to Malt. I can recommend Malt to anyone who is looking for an amazing evening out, with great food, great service and vibey music.

My second visit to Malt and i couldn't be more pleased. Such a great place for drinks and food whether you're alone, with friends or as a couple. The service was on point from the first step we took into Malt up until the last step out of Malt. The decor is trendy and warm which makes you feel comfortable and ready for a great evening. Our waitress was very helpful and well informed of the menu. All the options which she recommened were so tasty! As a table snack we shared the chicken strip basket. The chicken was coated perfectly and was tender. For mains we had the lamb burger and ribs. The lamb burger was so Good! The unusual flavours came together perfectly. The ribs were delicious - not too sweet and a good portion of meat. Drinks - The usual beers, R & R Mojito and a Cotton Candy Cocktail. The Mojito was a little sweet for my liking. The Cotton Candy Cocktail was really good with a nice serving of cotton candy. We really enjoyed everything we had!

Great food and good company always make a good mix. Service was up to par, unfortunately they do not take any special requests. Their cocktails are so delicious that I have to say that they need bigger glasses. There aren't 500ml cocktails available and cannot charge you for two and make it in a bigger glass. Also quite expensive for the amount that you are getting. The guys definitely enjoyed their beers and they were massive. The food was amazing could use more sauerkraut with the eisbein and chips to make it perfect.

This was my first time at your restaurant. I enjoyed the fireplaces and atmosphere very much. The food was great 👍🏻

3.5<br/>After visiting Malt Barrel and Fire at Montecasino a couple of times, we decided to visit the original Malt in Silverlakes Pretoria.<br/>The decor and feel of the restaurant is similar to the Montes branch. I like the comfy booth seating, so we immediately made ourselves at home. Then I realised that, for some reason, everyone is facing the same direction?&nbsp; Goodness me, everyone is watching rugby! My worst fear! Luckily the sound of the TVs are off, so we could actually have a relaxing lunch without feeling intimidated by the &quot;sports bar noise. Yes, I know it is a very personal issue that will probably not bug your average person. Nonetheless...<br/>Malt has got some great lunch specials at the moment, one of which is a samoosa basket. That was our starter to share. Beef samoosas with a lovely tomato chutney, it was quite tasty. It may could&#039;ve been fried for a bit longer, just to give it some colour, but it was definitely cooked enough.&nbsp;<br/><br/>On a previous occasion I have tried Malt&#039;s pizzas. Super tasty and a huge portion (although it may simply be that the flatbread-style shape is a little deceiving, but let me believe it!)&nbsp; My standard go-to pizza usually has got quite strong flavours, so when I saw the Goodfellas pizza, my mind was made up. This pizza has got a standard tomato base, mozzarella, bacon, caramelized onion and blue cheese. The caramelized onion was a bit too sweet for Hubby, but I liked it, I thought it was a good contrast with the blue cheese and bacon.&nbsp; Of course I couldn&#039;t finish it,&nbsp; but it was a lovely leftover dinner!&nbsp;<br/><br/>Ambience: Casual, comfortable decor, leather booths, a variety of seating options.&nbsp;Service: Friendly, but quite slow. Can definitely be improved guys!Menu Variety: Vegetarian (not a lot) and banting options&nbsp;Food: Pizza, burgers, grill meals, salads, etc&nbsp;Drinks: The drinks menu is definitely different from the Montes branch, missed the whisky and cocktail options. But in general they cover all the bases.

I must say the first thing that stood out was the feel of the place, cozy but spacious... We had the Garlic roll with ham as a starter, very nice just the bread was a little soggy but nice nonetheless.<br/>For mains we had the Ribalicious burger which was very nice and succulent, the caramelized onions were a hit. Also had a portugese full chicken (peri-peri), crisp skin and very succulent inside but flavourless after waiting 40 minutes for the main meal I was a tad disappointed. Guys please try another brand of frozen fries, fries were underwhelming..<br/>The freshly squeezed juices are also great with the various combinations you can choose (mint, pinaple, apple, orange or a mixture of a couple).<br/>Overall good experience 👌

So I've been to Malt before but only for drinks..always had a good experience! The vibe is always good and I like the look and feel of the shop..! On Saturday morning we went for breakfast.. and the brekkie was solid, good and definitely what you would expect from Malt. Unfortunately the service was lacking...the waiter immediately took our order for drinks and food but it went a bit pear shaped after that.. it was a mission to get our waiters attention to order more drinks, get more butter or even to pay our bill. There was a whole group waiters standing outside whole time having a laugh and ignoring the customers..quite frustrating.<br/>Hopefully you guys can sort it out..<br/>

Enjoyed Sunday lunch yesterday - good food and service, good value for money except cost for a glass of wine a bit over the top. Experience made even more enjoyable by great music from Don McDonald. W'ell be back.

Absolute disgusted, i found a small cockroach in my cocktail. I send it back, no manager or waiter came to apologize. My food was bland. This was my first bad experience at Malt Bar and Grill.

We used to take a trip out here regularly on weekends but its like the quality dropped during the past few months. <br/>On Friday I possibly the worst Burger I ever had in Pretoria this year and not cheap either! It was served with a serving of MacDonalds fries in a grease paper folded container. <br/>This was the Jalapeno Burger... a very dry tasteless patty with Zero Jalapeño peppers or taste in the centre.<br/>Beautiful venue and Andrew our waiter was awesome but i wont take the drive out there again.<br/>My draught wasn’t cold and my friend had the chicken which was jot great either. Its really like the kitchen was under pressure to get the food out even though it wasn’t all that busy. <br/>A Sad day indeed.

Bookmarked Malt and wanting to go for a while. So finally on Friday evening decided to try it out. Upon arrival we were seated right away. Malt has such a nice kuier vibe, festive and quite big. The decor and ambiance is absolutely great! Malt is the first place I know that has Savanna on tap... so brownie points there ... it was amazing. The drinks and food menu is quite extensive. Very nice G&T and cocktails menu. I ordered the fish and chips, it was nice but the fish was way too oily for my liking. The burgers looked amazing. The waitress and staff were really friendly and efficient. We will be back.

Nice place to enjoy a drink, lunch or dinner. <br/>Burgers and pizzas are fine. With steak they need some more practice in the kitchen to deliver a medium one. I had to return it twice until I had the right result. <br/>Staff is friendly and forthcoming. <br/>They have daily specials on their menu.

Service is great, met with a smile and the waiters are quick to address any small enquiries. (Cut burger in half)<br/><br/>Food is really good especially the burgers, the quality and quantity is 100% for what you pay for.<br/><br/>

Awesome place, the decor is just great and the look and feel of the place is welcoming. Extensive drinks menu which leaves you spoilt for choice! There menu is fine, not too many options but enough. Enjoyed the ribs and the potatoe wedges. Can the smoking area be extended please?? Overall great place for a great meal and drinks

Came here for birthday drinks and was very impressed with the décor! Wow it looks so nice, it made it an awesome atmosphere – we had a private party upstairs. <br/><br/>The menu was really nicely done and some of the others ordered food. The presentation looked really nice and everyone said how it tasted great, the nachos was a favorite – everyone kept ordering it.<br/><br/>The service was good and we had a few beers and a few shots. It was a really nice party – and we will definitely go back there again!

Malt has a very wide selection of alcoholic beverages ranging from beers to cocktails and Whiskies. Enough choice to satisfy the average layman to a real connoisseur. Te food was however fairly average but rustic and tasty. We were there on a really busy evening so the food did take quite long to arrive. I would recommend the Pizza's and fried chicken strips. The waiter was friendly and tried hard to accommodate us during the long wait for the food. They also have ample heaters inside the restaurant during winter time.

Still one of my favorite places. A place you can bring family or friends, day or night. Delicious food, great service and a cosy atmosphere. Great for craft beer lovers and meat lovers. Best ribs in town.

More like a sports bar and chill out place.<br/><br/>We came here solely for The Pretoria Explorer Pizza Challenge 2017 and honestly I wasn't that intrigued. <br/><br/>From the time we got there service seemed too slow, staff didn't know what they were doing nor any introductions of any sort were made. <br/><br/>We were served a lovely pizza however the steak was not flavoured and the pizza itself a bit too sweet and unbalanced. <br/><br/>Wasn't so impressed with the pizza however I will definitely return to see what more Malt has to offer. <br/><br/>Review based solely on the pizza received**

04.03.2017 This was our first stop for the day. <br/>I've been to this centre once before but never eaten here. It's a huge premises with a bar type vibe. Should be a great spot for cocktails in the evening or watching sports on the tvs. The service was rather slow as we were here for the pizza challenge and kind of felt like we were forgotten. <br/>We were served their Malt Pizza - which is Rump strips, Mozarrela, Tomato Base, Rocket, Caramelised Onion, Parmesan and a Balsamic rediction. The steak was dry and tasteless and the reduction was way too sweet. The Pizza Base however was thin and crispy which was nice. Unfortunately not such a great experience. <br/><br/>P.s. this review is solely based on the Pizza we received on the day for the Pizza Challenge

So we've been doing the Malt lunch time burger special a couple of times on a Monday. The food is great and the service not too bad as well. I normally stick with the Avocado and Hammas burger which is really tasty. Even though the restaurant is not busy the food still takes ages to arrive. Your 1 hour lunch break is not enough. <br/><br/>Also, I see they do cater for takeways on the highlight section of this profile which I'm not too sure is true? We've been trying to take the burgers as takeway which has not been allowed.<br/><br/>Besides the above, they do have interesting beers to try out.<br/> <br/><br/>Lastly, they did put in a lot of effort into the construction and design of the place.  It gives off a trendy and energetic feeling.

This was the first restaurant in the The Pretoria Explorer Pizza Challenge 2017 and I was honored to be nominated as one of the judges.<br/><br/>Upon arriving at Malt the service was rather satisfactory and this prolonged for the duration that we were there. The staff seemed to lack a basic knowledge and understanding of what the restaurant had to offer which was rather disappointing. We were served their rump steak pizza and I was pleased to see balsamic reduction on my rocket. Not bad at all. Buzzing, mostly male vibe on a Friday afternoon. Food a little bland but salt and peri-peri sauce sealed the deal. Will be back for the tequila and pineapple slice..

We decided to try out the Malt lunch time special. It's a choice between a T-bone, chicken shnitzel or the Malt orginal pizza. The specials are actually good value for money, which is always nice, specially in January ;)<br/><br/>The restaurant is really nice and you can see that quite a bit of money was spent in constructing it.<br/><br/>Our waitress was really good at her job, actually all the waiters know what they are doing looks like. She maybe a bit too good at it because she was at our table every 10 min....which can be a bit annoying.<br/><br/>We ordered the chicken shnitzel with mushroom sauce and the malt pizza. The food arrived in good time. The shnitzel was good, but did lack seasoning. The portion was more than enough and my partner and I shared half of the chicken and then half of the pizza. The crumb was perfect and the chicken nice and hot. The fries were also good, crispy. The mushroom sauce was ok.<br/><br/> The malt pizza was also nice. I always enjoy a good drizzle of balsamic, but unfortunately that's where the flavour started and ended. The beef strips on the pizza were very soft which is great, but the meat had no flavour. It was a nice pizza, but I wouldn't go there and order it at full price as I think it's a tad expensive.<br/><br/>It's not really the type of place I personally would hang out or go have drinks, but I wouldn't say no if going that was ever an option.

Great spot to have a few drinks and a good lunch. I've tried the steak and burgers and both were good. My wife enjoys having their variety of salads. The pizzas look amazing, will definitely go back to try those. Good selection of cocktails and craft beers available. The "club" music is maybe the only thing not to my liking, but I am pushing 37 years of age so maybe Im getting to old for that.

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the restaurant. I loved the look, ambience and decor inside. We had a very good waiter although we waited very long on a not busy at all day, 1 January 2017 for our food. My husband ordered the Malt pizza and he said he will come back for more. Pizzas were half prize on 1 January 2017, not sure if this occurs every Sunday. I ordered the Bacon and blue cheese with avo burger and regrettably they did not have fresh avo but they accepted my suggestion of extra chips. The burger was nice, but the patty was too well done, and the blue cheese sauce was just okay. I loved the french fries. I was a bit disturbed by one of the managers/owners in a yellow shirt scolding at one of the waiters where we could see and hear everything, I felt that could be done behind closed doors. They have a very big variety of cocktails and drinks and we will definitely be back to try some of their other food.

The food was amazing, service was top-notch and I really dig the venue. Looking forward to bringing more friends here. Please keep it up, guys!

Great service! Great cocktails!! This is a great spot for drinking, no doubt. The restaurant set up is great too which is quite unexpected when you see the word "Bar" but I could really live in there (haha) <br/>My experience with the food though was not the greatest, their ribs just lacked flavour! I also tried their wings- that was disappointing too. I'd definitely go back for those drinks though. I am going going back! 😒

The perfect combination of vibey sports bar and great eating spot! On one occasion we ate and had the chicken espetada and the flattie which were delicious. On another occasion we watched the rugby and it was so much fun! Sipping on beer, shooters rolling, finished of with a delicious snacks platter. The works. What is different are the jam jars that i cannot stop raving about. They are all a tasty, fruity, herby combination that will leave you wanting to try another one. The decor is amazing, very modern and rustic. Definitely worth a try for a good night out or for a great lunch or even dinner!

We met some friends for a quick drink at Malt Bar & Grill. The atmosphere was perfect and of the view that the owners got it right. The beef trinchado is divine and the bread with the dish a winner. Pizza was for main and it's to die for. The desert was waffles with ice cream and a killer. Give this little gem a try and recommend this spot.

Nice, lively eatery. I like the selection of beers. Their pizzas are superb (could be the best I've had). Really nice decor inside. Maybe a bit too noisy inside if you want to enjoy a normal conversation with your companions and the music is not totally to my liking, but I like the place a lot. Will go back (many times).

Decided to pop in to watch some Saturday afternoon rugby. The place was packed but the service was good. I had the chicken strips starter and must admit I was delightfully surprised. Waiters are well trained and friendly and it's worth another visit. The kitchen was busy and the food coming out of it looked great so can't wait to try this place again.

I get that it's a brand new restaurant.... Although I feel that one should then open with a 'bang!'<br/><br/>My boyfriend and his family live in the Silver Lakes area and we couldn't wait for this bar& grill to open. <br/>The staff were very friendly and energetic. <br/>The décor is very well finished. Looks like an urban bar you'll find in Cape Town. The little details like the plants hanging everywhere really made this place unique. <br/><br/>We received our "menus" which were a major let down-paper crammed together. Even if the menu is temporary make an effort to make it more presentable. <br/><br/>They were really quick with our food and it was mouthwatering. But the food portions were just too small for that of a bar. Men like to eat a lot more than what they presented us with. It was barely enough for women. <br/><br/>Malt's not necessarily overpriced. Their prices are very similar to their next door neighbours (Dros). It's just the portion sizes. <br/><br/>I will definitely be going again with some friends for some drinks.
