Review Alfie's Pizzeria & Deli - Pretoria

Brandon Parker
Best restaurant in Hazelwood by a landslide. Pizzas are fantastic. Burgers a unique taste. And the chocolate salami dessert is great! All in all the vibe, atmosphere and experience perfect!
Peter R. Reuter
The pizza is really delicious and outstanding šŸ• the dough is perfect and very fluffy and you donā€™t feel full after eating it. The service is very good and we had a very good time there - thanks for it
Juliette Kayayan
Loved Alfie's Pizzeria! Great atmosphere, beautiful pizza oven, amazing food. The service was exceptional and warm. We felt very welcome. I do want to say the table felt a little bit small with 4 people having pizzas, but we managed. Would definitely recommend. Perfect place for a date too

The vegetarian options at this place are very good. Ordered an eggplant pizza (slightly above average price for a pizza) and really enjoyed it. The overall vibe of the place is very mellow, with excellent lighting to take really good pictures. The service was impeccable. Overall 10/10 would recommend to come here.

The hospitality here is unmatched. The manager Milena Apostolopoulos is amazingly on the ball with all the happenings of the restaurant and the restaurant industry. She will have time for you even if its month end and the restaurant is spinning. The treatment you get here is warm and authentic. The staff are willing to accommodate any of your needs no matter how sacrilegious you are to the Italian cuisine. They have passionate staff like , Alessio whom encourages you to understand the food and the culture behind the food. The prices are also very accomdating, especially for the experience and flavour you receive. The overall experience will leave you very satisfied. I would like to thank the manager again for having us on such busy night and for address all the earlier difficulties we had. We truly appreciate you for making our weekend.

My favorite cafešŸ’ž all pizzas, pasta, and blue cheese's salad are favorite. A Atmosphere also good.

Excellent Neopolitan style Pizza! Good Bubbly as well. Had to get the Salted Caramel Panacotta and it was absolutely amazing!

Beautiful evening at Alfie pizzeria! The pizza was divine! We enjoy the affogato too!
Vincent Houdeville

Thanks a lot to our waiter Lihle who made us this evening so pleasant, she was always watchful and kind. Also many thanks to the manager Milena who created real Italian cusine, which we never found somewhere else in South Africa.
Thomas Meyer
Great pizza - probably the fastest pizza produced in my experience, and very yummy. Even the crust was amazing, which is fairly unusual for me to comment on.
Avinash Singh
The food is absolutely fantastic here. It's the closest to Italy you will get. The vibe is also great and the entire road is filled with places to visit. Service was excellent and food prices very reasonable for ultra premium quality. An absolute must visit!
Norah Pretorius
Had sunday lunch yesterday The food was amazing Best pizzas in town Service was great All round a great experience Will be back
Jonathan Diederiks
Some of the most authentic Italian cuisine in Pretoria, portions aren't the biggest, but then again the prices are very reasonable to. The pasta itself is the best I've had in many moons, and the dishes in general seem to be perfectly ratio'ed. I never thought just a bowl of pasta, olive oil and pesto could be that tasty! Today i had the prawn tagliatelle dish with a hint of chilli, phenomenal! Great service to, decor etc could do with some sprucing up (the tables and chairs are "meh") but the food makes up for it in spades. Well worth a visit
Enviro Logica
Nice food, but the service was so slow and the wait was shockingly long despite an almost empty restaurant! The manager had to come to our rescue to help bring our orders out.
Brian Griffin
Still say Alfies make the best pizzas in town. I would imagine these are the types of pizza šŸ• one eats in Naples. Yeasty crusty base and generous toppings.
Zachary Christophers
Absolutely beautiful, staff were delightful, and I will definitely be visiting again in the future,
Carla Role Du Plessis
We stopped here with friends for an evening of drinks and desserts. Very friendly waitstaff and the chocolate milkshake comes highly recommended! Be sure to indulge and order a dessert - any dessert - and make it a cheat meal to remebver.
Marcel Armani
Best pizza in town the bread before you get your meal is to die for .
Coffe is good and strong I highly recommend Alfies
I had alfies pizza and my daughter had a regina with avocado
Bianca Van Der Sandt
The food was great, the waitress was friendly and the service was fast. We wait only about 15 minutes for our food and the background music just created a really chilled vibe. This was really a good choice for a Sunday lunch!
Cayla Riley
Such a cool vibe here at Alfieā€™s. Situated in the heart of the village , the pizza was a little bit bland for what you pay but overall a nice place
Yummy!
Alfies never disappoints a pizza lover. The marinara focaccia is a must to start and from there it only gets better! Would recommend the four cheese and for dessert choc cake and panna cotta are favorites.

My friend ordered the Canelloni Ricotta Prosciutto e Spinaci as her main course meal, when it came we were highly disappointed.. The serving size is incredibly tiny, it could pass as a starter.. A small one.. Just not worth the price at all, it was incredibly small..

I ordered the Pollo alla Griglia e Patate (succulent half chicken). The chicken was so dry and flavourless, I was using the chilli and garlic that came with my friends Canelloni, just to give it some flavour and take away the dryness.. It just was not nice at all.

They serve only 3 milkshakes (disappointing), chocolate, vanilla and coffee.. However the chocolate milkshake was devine , I almost ordered another. Very yum!

For dessert my friend had lemon sorbet, absolutely delicious!!

For dessert I had the Pizza alla Nutella (pizza pillow filled with Nutella) for R78, and again was left disappointed.. It was basically filled with air. They smeared the tiniest bit of Nutella on one side, inside the pizza.. Just not worth the price at all.. However it really did look delicious on the plate and I was so excited to eat it, but definitely was not as good as it looked..

Anyway, the prices are too high for the quality of food served. Can't say I'd be back again.

Food was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and hearty šŸ‘šŸ¼ The setting of Alfieā€™s is also in a lovely area with a great vibe. Energetic and friendly waiters. Would definitely recommend it for someone looking for great food and a chilled vibe.

Wow! If you'd like an authentic Italian experience - please visit Alfies! The pizza is woodfired and the base is certainly proved for almost 48 hours! Service and ambience was awesome and the food deleesh! The mock tail is the Steel works and was an interesting blend! Definitely will be back for more!
Peter Gidlow
This is the place for Pizza! Mama Mia! Be sure to book because we have been shown away twice not having booked. Limited drinks selection but we will book and be back!
Theloveofgoodfood
Weā€™ve been here quite a few times and I must say that when it comes to good old
fashioned italian inspired pizza and pasta - I love Alfies!

The Arrabiata is (yes, simple) but oh so delicious and the pizzas amazing as well. The calzones also look impressive.

I always enjoy their gin list paired with their wide range of tonics and add-ons.

A yum, warm, inviting experience.

First dates ft. Danette Marais, deep meaningful conversations ft. Tiaan Smit or massive get togethers ft. Everyone!

Nick and his team makes Alfieā€™s my favorite restaurant for the following reasons:

The environment is always relaxed, the location is amazing, their Gin Cocktails are delicious, the waiters are kind and helpful and last but not least the food...ohhh the food! Ask Nick for the Arrabbiata with prawns.

As for the people eating here: I recall one evening I spilled my glass of wine, before I evaluate the mess a gentleman came up to me and gave me some of his wine. Restoring faith in humanity

Divan Du Plessis
The place is very nice and staff very friendly. But unfortunately the food was not all that great for me. Had focaccia and its was very chewy.
My friends also complained about their pizzas.
But over all, had n nice night out and had the most amazing dom pedro.
Lianri Swanepoel Maritz
Situated in a wonderful street where trees lit up with lights at night the atmosphere was set.

The food was wonderful. I had the cheese and meat board, good quality meat ans cheese ans a very big portion, recommended to share this one.

My husband orderes "The Alfie" the only description the menu gives is "a masterpiece". we made the mistake to order it without asking about the toppings. There are lots and lots of tomato on this pizza. For someone who doesn't absolutely love tomatoes this might be to much.

lovely overall.
Nelia Marx
Great atmosphere with all the fairy lights outside. Service was fast and food was tasty. Really enjoyed our dining experience at Alfie's Pizzeria and deli.
Paulo Gaspar
This restaurant situated in a fantastic culinary block in Waterkloof is right up there with good food, taste and impeccable service. Tried the Alfies pizza and it's one of the best and most unusual pizza I have ever had. A must try and for me worth the drive from JHB.
Micke De Klerk
Boy was this a lekker place to be..
Great pizzas great cocktails..
Staff was friendly and enjoyed a few jokes too.
Plus no straws!! Looking out for the environment is always a big yes!!.
The Alfie's pizza was rather disappointing but the prosciutto won hands down.
Would definitly return and recommend.
Monique Steenekamp
Best pizza I've had in a while, even though it was a limited selection, we ordered two pizzas and they were both deliciously yummy (they obviously value quality over quantity) I have never had a pizza that excludes the tomato base, and it was surprisingly tasty! Also a great Gin selection, the bartender is super friendly and knowledgeable on what flavours pair well :)
Julian Coetzee
One of three top Pizza restaurants in Pretoria. Iā€™d rank Alfieā€™s the second best pizza restaurant in pretoria. Try it for yourself, you wonā€™t be disappointed, staff is also very friendly!
Candice Claassen
My new favourite restaurant. The pizzas are probably the best in Pretoria right now. Thin crispy base with the best quality ingredients. Good service. Make a booking as Alfie's fills up quickly. Definately worth a visit. i didnt have dessert, but the cakes look amazing!
Rhoneth
I had theĀ sea food pizza.Ā One of the best pizza's I've ever had (I've had hundreds of pizzas). The toppings are really delicious with just the right amount of cheese. The base is extra thin, light and crispy.Service is good, waiters are always checking if you're ok (Although I do think they could have checked a little less, as it became a bit much with them interupting conversation to check if we were ok so many times). The wait for food wasĀ short and food was served very hot.The seating area is a bit small for the number of people. We sat outside and I could hardly move my chair.OverallĀ a good experience. I would go back again. That pizza is worth a hundred visits more!

Went for a quick Pizza on Saturday 24 March. The Pizzas are simply the best in Pretoria.
Just a pity they do not do half/half. Had the rest of the Pizza for Dinner. Will be back soon

On one of our Pretoria ventures we stumbled upon the Hazelwood Village which is a trendy food hub galore! We decided to grab a bite at Alfie's and I must say - this is Italian done right! The service is spectacular and the gin flows easy. I would definitely go back to Alfie's for my šŸ•-fix!
Martmeri Smit
What a super experience. Came for Saturday night pizzas and was the best Iā€™ve ever had in South Africa. The waiter was so helpful, as we wanted everything on the menu! 3 of us opted for the good old procuitto pizza and I ate the whole one. Next time going for the pasta! Thank you.
Candice De Alcantara
Best.Pizza.In.Pretoria!!! We had an awesome evening. We went on a Tuesday evening when there was a wine tasting & live music. The setting is lovely & the service is good. The prices are also very reasonable.

For a starter we made up a mezze platter with a variety of cold meats, cheeses & bread. Absolutely delicious!!!! I could not fault anything, the cold meats were some of the best I ever had. We then shared the parma ham & sausage pizzas. The base was perfect & the toppings were top class.

I can't wait to go back next time I feel like a good pizza.
Matthys J De Beer
@Fully agree. I'm not Italian, but felt Italian. Ambience I never experienced that is perfect for a romantic or family evening. Food great and the pizzas brilliantly presented. Best.
The Pretoria Explorer
In simple terms- the best pizza in Pretoria. No jokes. Honestly. The Pretoria explorer had a pizza competition and had this place entered they would've won. They absolutely presented a perfect pizza with feta, mushroom and chili and another pizza recommended by my The young manager which was tuna with red onion. In my life I haven't eaten something so text book. I strongly recommend that this should be put in the menu since it is an off menu item. For dessert we had pizza balls drizzled in chocolate. The service was ten stars āœØ! I will not eat pizza anywhere else but for this place. Not many places can deliver to this standard!
Kananelo Sebati
I had date date night here recently. I really enjoyed the starters. Our pizza was a little underwhelming. I think if you eat ham eater you will be in heaven but for a non-pork eater like me you still have plenty to choose from. I will go back to make a conclusion about the pizza but the starters and service were great.
Jess
We decided to go to Alfie's Pizzeria for a birthday celebration on a Tuesday night and were surprised to see that there was a Gin tasting as well as a live band. Unknown to us, every Tuesday night Alfie's Pizzeria tries to have a different kind of event. The Gin stand was very interesting and we tried two of the three different types.

For starters we had a salad as well as a focacce marinara which is tomato based.
For mains, the ladies all went for the potato based gnocchi with prawns and a rosƩ sauce which was absolutely delicious and very filling. The other main meals consisted of cannelloni filled with cheese, penne rustiche - which is penne with fresh tomato, onions, bacon, chilli and pecorino cheese & a calzoni fagottino which has rump steak instead with tomato, mozzarella, basil and chilli.

Last but not least we HAD to try some dessert. We had the pizza al cioccolato which was absolutely delicious and was a pizza filled with chocolate and served with vanilla ice cream.
For the coffee lovers, they also tried a semifreddo al caffƩ which is coffee infused and served with dark chocolate sauce.

After such an incredibly decadent evening we were all extremely happy!

Our waiter, Filippo was absolutely awesome! Very quick, very informative and always had a wonderful smile on his face!

Lovely ambiance! Will definitely be back!
Nolene Du Preez
The best pizza in SA!

From the friendliest manager and staff to the best food in the country!

If you have a thing for Italian food then Alfie's is the place to be.
Kaye
The vibe
The buzz
The service
The food

Never disappoints.
For an authentic Italian experience this is the closest you will come to Italy outside of the Italy.

The owner is hands on and always around to ensure your meal is satisfying. I will recommend a true Italian pizza at Alfies any day of the week.

Always have a lovely time at Alfie's, great atmosphere, delicious Napoli style pizzas and welcoming hosts. Love sitting outside near the deli section.
Shane
Managed to get a table at the counter for a quick bite to eat. Have always wanted to try the pizza and compare it to the best one I feel I had at Jamie's Italian. Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. It was good but not great. I personally prefer a bit more sausage if it says sausage pizza. Although the device was excellent and the food arrived very quickly. Pizza was still more on the colder side when it did arrive. I must admit though the it was rather chilly outside
Philippa
What a lovely setting to have dinner! The fairy lights in the surrounding trees creates a whole different world and the heaters make it possible to enjoy it even in the winter chill. I had the chicken of the day, which was really nice. The main event, however, was the mimosa cake I had for dessert. It was absolute perfection!
Marelene Radley
Very delicious authentic pizza with a very relaxed atmosphere. The food has a wide variety of interesting flavours and it is always amazing. I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant.
Jennifer Kriel
Best pizza I have ever had!! The bases are amazing and what is even better is the tomatoe basting/sauce on the base. Service has been great every time I have been. Love it!!
Jenine Botma
This place is beyond perfect. We paid corkage and took our own wine because it was a birthday party. The food was awesome. We were a big crowd. A bit too big. But the staff did what they could to accommodate us.
Jan Van Zyl
We came for a Sunday lunch and the atmosphere in this area (Hazelwood Village) makes you feel as if you are somewhere in a European city.Ā

We were offered two focaccias on the house, which was a generous gesture to start with.
For mains we had the Classico and Salsiccia paninis, and honestly we expected a bit more. We felt that the ciabattas was a tad on the small side - for the price we paid. Nothing wrong with the flavours and ingredients though.

We also ordered the Faggotino - the rump steak calzone. This meal was a real disappointment, as the calzone contained about 4 reaps of steak - not even close to the indicated 200g on the menu.

The Frutti di Mare (seafood) pizza was brilliant, abundance of toppings and all round a great pizza.

The wine is reasonably priced, we found that the spirits was a bit on the expensive side. Saying that, the fact that this restaurant (and the Village) makes you feel that you're somewhere abroad, it's worth the price to pay.

Will definitely return to Alfie's for a pizza!
Francois.kanfer
Stopped here for a breakfast at the deli, based on the good reviews of the pizzeria.

Was extremely disappointed with the breakfast I received. Was supposed to be scrambled eggs and bacon, but what I received was some sort of scrambled eggs concoction on an oversized tasteless hash brown. Definitely not worth the R75 they charge for it. There are much better options for breakfast within walking distance.
Johann Mentz
I want to like this place more, than I do. Everything is working but nothing is quite there.
I think it is trying to be everything under the guise of being authentically Italian, yet it is not that.
The menu is already quite simple, but there is room for scarping a few things off and maybe focus on being a bit more Italian, by really making really good but really simple dishes.
Divine Rakau
Small note, based on the social media we were led to believe that there would be a street culture event on this evening including live music and all, to our disappointment we discovered that this was not one of those days, so their social media person should really work on that misrepresentation. We had appetizer which weren't so nice, the bread was super stale and the pastries didn't taste nice. The mojitos where refreshing and the my main was amazing. Calamari with an interesting take on salad, something that resembled baby food molded into a circle, didn't look all that appealing but it more than made up for it in taste. The vibe was chilled and the service was pretty good.
Dirk
I give it a 4 purely for the food, location and vibe. The area has seen a growth spurt in restaurants and it's fantastic. But back to Alfie's. This was my first visit and we only ordered mains(I actually might have had a dessert as well but two waiters didn't bring me a menu so I could choose a dessert). We had the porkchops and the cannelloni...both delicious although the pork needed a bit more seasoning. Work on the service and you have a superb restaurant.
Kaylyn
Went here for breakfast the location was really nice and contemporary. Being the first customers they took seriously long to come out with our meals as well as they should maybe include more hot items that don't include egg - not everyone eats eggs.
Stacey Faber
Artisan pizzas for the win!!! Awesome spot at the Village - pizzas, pastas, wine! Awesome Italian pizzeria serving the most delicious pizzas! Try the Alfies pizza! It definitely is a true masterpiece šŸ•šŸ•šŸ•

The best pizza in Pretoria without a doubt. The dough is phenomenal. I don't eat cheese and the staff are always so helpful in making me a cheese less pizza with my favourite toppings. The calamari accompanied by a bread salad is absolutely stunning!! The vibrance is lovely however family dinners get disturbed by the party goers the restaurant is trying to attract, making for an unpleasant situation. The time taken to receive drinks was quite slow however the food was timed well. ā˜ŗļø

It's probably the most talked about pizza joint, within the most vibey street in Pretoria, what do you think it's going to be like šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful...

A must add on your foodie "to eat list"
Leo Burg
I went to alfie's on a Saturday, there was a fair amount of people but not full, and I am quite disgusted in the service I received.

Upon getting there, the waitor is blatantly rude. Thereafter I order my sparkling water and he takes about 15-20 minutes to bring it.
And another 10 mins to see that everyone at my table's glasses are empty without asking if they'd like anything else to drink.
(He didn't even know the different drink the restaurant serves, and when asked he's rude)

So I finally found what I'd like to eat on the menu, which was a calamari/mussel/prawn salad, to which he said they don't have any mussels or prawns.

So I took the second option which was calamari and a carrot/celery/olive/tomato mix, and don't get me wrong the meal was good. But as soon as the service is terrible I already struggle to enjoy my meal.

I went to Alfie's with high expectations, as people talk well about them and i'm sad to have received this terrible impression.

I am however, open to give them another try sometime and see if it's any different with another waitor and when they actually have the food I want.
Tony
The feel of a proper Italian Pizzeria which reminded me of a restaurant in Naples I was recently at! Service efficient and friendly! We ordered a mozzarella Fior Di Latte pizza and I was left speechless! By far the best Pizza I've had in years! The photo I've attached says it all! Worth traveling to from Johannesburg!
Suchismita Simhadri
One of the best place for Italian food in Brooklyn. It was a Friday evening so pretty busy .. good food. Even though the place was busy the food was served really quick. Love the quality of pizza .. really fresh and delicious. And the starters supli was really tasty.
Eshwar Andhavarapu
This is one of the best pizzas I have ever had. In my life. In the world. I don't know how to describe it. But the magic is in the dough. We also had the suppli. That was also excellent. And the place is excellent. I am now sad as to why I have not been here before.

Wow. The best pizzeria in Pretoria.
Lloyd Loots
Friday Evening & we headed out to Alfies for some Pizza. After some confusion regarding our booking, the manager quickly sorted out a table for us whilst we waited outside sipping on some Inverroche Classic Gin, topped off with tonic. (It's one of my favourites.)

The atmosphere was very pleasant. Slightly on the noisy side of things inside the restaurant and made conversation a little bit difficult.

I opted for the Capriciossa pizza. Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Mushrooms, Cooked Ham, Artichoke Hearts & Calamata Olives.
I must say. I am quite impressed with the standards of their pizza. I won't lie. The base is thin & crispy. Cooked in the wood-fire oven. You can get that taste in the crust as it cracks in your mouth. You can taste the ingredients are fresh & crisp.

All in all, I would love to visit again soon to try out some more of their pizza. (That is me recommending the place to you...)
Jacquelise
Oh. My. Goodness. I honestly thought that I've had AMAZING pizza before visiting Alfie's, but they made me believe otherwise. By far the best pizza I've ever had. We had the Alfie's special Ā - a true masterpiece indeed! The service was good, wine is a tad on the pricey side but you can't not have wine with the incredible food they have to offer. Looking forward to my next visit.
Marentia Van Kasterop
Alfie's Pizza in Waterkloof is situated in the new Village area. Unfortunately parking is a huge problem at this stage.

The restaurant is quite nice and they are busy, so it is recommended to make a booking.

They are one of the few restaurants that hand press the pizza dough. It gives the pizza a special look. However it could have been in the wood fired oven a few seconds longer as it was a tad soggy. It looked very good though!

The service was a bit slow due to the fact that they were packed.

We would say that it is one of the better pizzerias in town.

Will visit again šŸ˜„šŸ˜„

The street feeling reminds us of fourth avenue in Park Hurst, although much smaller. It's a quaint little spot, wonderful for lunches. Alfies pizzeria is full of light, with a very modest simplistic decor. The pizza however is one of the best I have ever had, in South Africa. The dough seems to be made with imported flower from Italy, perfected to the crust. We tried the Hawaii, regina and seafood, and it's become a weekend cheat must for us. We will keep returning until our scale says we can't no more:) love, love love.
Lani Loves Good Food
Have been wanting to have a meal at Alfie's for the longest time, but never managed to either get a table, or the timing was wrong and they were closed between lunch and dinner...

Well, today was different. Lunch at Alfie's Pizzeria on a Monday early afternoon was quite pleasant. They did not have 2 out of 3 of the alcoholic beverages that I requested, but perhaps it was due to the fact that it was early on a Monday, after a busy weekend and they were still restocking? Nonetheless, it was a good experience.

The staff were all very friendly and accommodating towards our toddler son. The setting is tranquil and there was a slight breeze blowing, which created a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is small and caters mostly towards meat eaters, but you will find a few non-meat alternatives, if that is what you require.Ā

We shared a starter of Focaccia Romana (salt, olive oil and rosemary), which arrived soon after ordering and was crispy and flavourful.Ā
Our mains followed not long after we finished the starter, as requested by us. The Frittura Calamari was crispy and the bread salad was an interesting taste. The dish was soon devoured by hungry husband and son.Ā
My Quattro Formaggi e rucola was crispy on the edges, with a good mix of mild cheeses and rocket leaves. I would have liked one more topping on the pizza, Ā just to add more flavour and balance out Ā the cheese. A bit heavy for me, but should be expected from a four cheese pizza. :)

All in all we had a good experience at Alfie's Pizzeria and will be going back again for another taste.

It hardly ever happens that you get exactly what you've been craving.... THANK YOU!!!! Perfect meal. Great wine. Awesome vibe! Service needed some attention towards the end... just a thought. Can't wait to return!
Monica Maree
The ambiance is amazing and the food is delectable. We shared the carpaccio and I had the prosciutto pizza. The only sad thing is that we somehow managed to get the least experienced waiter and this caused the evening to be rather less than splendorous. Ā I do feel that more care must be taken into giving wine training to their wait staff and also relay to their staff the importance of being timely with drinks and food orders to customers. Ā That being said I would visit again as the food and atmosphere is to enticing to stay away
Marie
Great pizzeria with a classic authentic vibe. Great outside seating, perfect for summers day.

The starters are big enough to be a main, I ordered two starters instead of a main and was full. The carpaccio in particular.

The pizzas are innovative and delicious.

The service was exceptional we had a trainer waiter but was incredible. He went out of his way and provided exceptional service and attention to detail.
Alastair Waldeck
Hand's down one of the best pizza places in town! The pizza really does bring back good memories of old Italy, with a light puffy crust and fresh delectable toppings, every dish will leave you wanting more! They constantly have new specials that are well worth the try if you get there before they are all sold out. The other meals such as the steaks, melanzane and pastas are all just as scrumptious! Alfie's is definitely well worth a visit!
Melissa Do Couto
What a perfect pizza! Honestly some of the very best pizza I've had. The ingredients were fresh and of good quality and the tomato sauce was delicious. The dough however is the real star of the show. Service was good, food was incredible and the general ambience was very enjoyable. A little pricey for a pizzeria, but well worth the money. Definitely worth a stop!
Nico Gray
If you enjoy good food with a scenery and you have not been to the Village in Hazelwood then do yourself a favour. Alfie's Pizzeria situated at the heart of the Village is a great mixture of excellent wood fire pizzas a buzzing street side setting and staff that are eager to please. Alfie's also boast an array of wines, beers (local and import) and spirits.
Frans Pretorius
Comfort food galore. Lekker Italian restaurant with an amazing menu and setting.
The food was excellent and the service good.
Complimentary bread for the table a bonus. We'll be back!
Wilna Bester
This morning I wanted to sing: It's all about the dough, it's all about the dough...
I'm still dreaming of pillowy soft calzone, filled with creamy artichoke. Of tomato, basil and Mozarella and crisp Haute Cabriere Pinot Noir. A harmony of taste and texture. The creamiest, dreamiest pannacotta in the universe. JJ served us well. I want to go again - sommer now!
Nico Van Der Merwe
On the hunt for a lazy Saturday afternoon, we wandered into Alfie's. A few tasty crafty beers, and some good recommendations from the waiter led to 2 good hours of eating and drinking. An excellent topping to base ratio on the Norcina, and an interesting combination of fresh and baked on the Alfie was the order of the day. Definitely worth another visit, to explore the other varieties further. From a service side, some might say it tapered down as we got to the business of eating, but that is how we like it.
Tracy Skellern
Love their pizza but really getting irritted with how they are breaking the law with allowing ppl to smoke outside. There are huge sliding doors that stand open most of the time. So all the smoke just drifts in. I've had to complain about this just about every single time that I've been there.
Udo
I'm not sure if I should get up and leave or stay and see if it gets better. Waiter told us he'll come serve us, but after a while the runner (who was helpful enough at least) took our orders. The waiter comes and tells us how we're not supposed to give our orders to the runner. Then he (the waiter) gets 2 of our orders wrong in one go. Not impressed.
Abdullah Mahamed
Alfies. The original, and now the pizzeria- the deli. All are just amazing. Nick made a really amazing pizza for us. A ham pizza. This is the only place that I know of that actually proofs the pizza dough for 90 hours. I swear you could eat a whole pizza by yourself and you won't even feel it, that's how light the pizza is. Always full and always battling to get a place.. If you're keen definitely make a reservation in advance :)

The Food Village is one of my favourite spots to eat in Pretoria. The trees twinkle with fairy lights and the atmosphere is electric. We sat on the patio with a bottle of wine and enjoyed the music. The service was very good, we had to wait for a table, so started at the bar. Once seated at our table the barman came around to make sure we were happy! The menu is small, which always tells me they focus on what they do well, and boy, do they do it well

We had their signature pizza and one with their home made pork sausage, both was full of flavour and very satisfying. Ended the dinner with a cappuccino which was very well brewed, all and all a fantastic night out

One word: authentic.
The real deal from Italy: fantastic pizzas and pasta (simply delicious), Illy coffee, mind-blowing fiorentina (serious t-bone that melts in your mouth) and a chocolate flan that didn't last a second. The traditional experience, like you would expect on a terrace in Florence or in a little alley in Rome. Staff is great and the place has a nice vibe.
Highly recommend it!

The place has a great atmosphere and the pizza was also delicious. We kept it traditionL and ordered a Marinara and a Margarita. We could've been eating somewhere in Italy, thus job well done.

They did not yet have a liquor license and we brought our own wine, not sure if they have a license at this stage. The service was also good.

My current favorite pizza in town! Real Italian thin crust pizza. In love. No liquor license yet , so welcome to bring your own vino or bubbly. Booking is an absolute must and kitchen closes between 3 and 6 - like a real Siesta. Make a booking, be patient, service on a Saturday is sometimes on the slow side. But as soon as the wood-fire pizzas arrive, all is forgotten!

The vibe at this place is so hipster as if you left the city buzz and went to a little town in Europe! Their food is out of this world! They put in so much effort to make their dishes the best and one of a kind! They don't put any sauces on any pizza or pasta an choose to cook it in a way that brings out the flavor best! The waiters were also very helpful and informative on all the menu items! Decision on what to order was the hardest part of the evening.

The new Village is the Melville of Pretoria! With places like Alfie's its stunning! The pizza bases are light, crisp, and the simplistic interior makes you think you are in a cute restaurant somewhere in Rome! All pizzas are great! The staff are all very friendly! Some dishes might be a bit pricey! But then again its quality!

A lovely place to come have some casual lunch! This new establishment in The Village is right in the centre of what looks like a foodie paradise! Our pizzas were great, the staff was very helpful and even without a liquor licence, the ambience allows for great enjoyment of cold ginger ale on the verandah. My only issue is nearly being chased away owing to them being fully booked, but there was literally only 1 occupied table in the whole restaurant. Even after eating our pizzas no more tables had filled. This is unfortunately a sign of bad management and could cost them some business. So make a booking! Other than that, great, authentic, Italian pizzas!!

Great pizza - fresh and authentically Italian. Good atmosphere. The booking system can be improved as they only plan seating 2 hrs prior to the evening. Good service from the staff.
