Have feel good food. Just be sure to ask for the ingredients in the dishes, they are not always listed. Have good food specials. Very hygienic.

Food is delicious however we did wait a bit long for our main meal but it was definitely worth the wait. The place for is clean and service is amazingly good.

Great T-bone special. Down side- smokers in all areas outside leaving no smoke free space for non smokers outside on a pleasant evening. Could management try to segregate areas?

The "Sinkhuis" has a great atmosphere & this is for sure a place to chill out with friends & family or to have a business lunch. They welcome you & let you feel right at home from the moment you set foot in the restaurant. They have awesome weekly specials, my favorite the "T-bone" with really great prices. I would like to give them a special thank you for showing support to Jacaranda Care Centre with great donation's on a monthly basis. God bless you all and keep up the great work

Great service, lovely open air seating areas, both smoking and non smoking inside/outside. Food is fantastic, lovely big portions. The waiters are nice and very attentive. Haven’t been in town for months so this was a lovely meal for my first day back.

The food was divine! Home cooked Sunday lunch - the best! The lamb shank and the oxtail is to die for. Value for money. I was a bit disappointed with the milktart.

Been several times times and enjoyed this popular restaurant every time. Situated within 4km of the cbd_ the restaurant is in an old 19th century national monument built of wood and iron. Street parking has a good car guard, Not particularly wheelchair friendly as there are lots of steps. Food Is very good and reasonably priced. Limited wine list that us not overpriced The oldworld atmosphere makes the place very attractive. The staff are welcoming and efficient There are daily 'specials,'

Received wrong pizza order after telling waitress we cannot eat certain ingredients on it. She went back to the kitchen to get it corrected. The manager came and gave his apologies. Gave is extra cheese on our order and Malva dessert on the house. Must say, it was some of the best pizza and dessert I have tasted in a long time.

Like the style of the restaurant, great pizza. I like it that you can eat breakfast there. Want to try the pap & kaiings

We will always support Sinkhuis, wonderful daily specials... which is normally a lot to eat. Stunning service.

A while ago we wanted to call to order some lunch but unfortunately I couldn't find a menu online. Here are some photo's of the menu so that others may enjoy their amazing food and service!

I love their food. Very chilled place to hang out get good foor for a very good price. Don't expect much from how it looks, but after all I'm one for the food not the colour of the walls.

This is a great hang out place for an ice cold beer ! This place gets hectic busy and patience is needed. Waiters are attentive and willing to help

I've been there 3 times good service and the food is good but what impressed me was the price of the Amstel Draught only R25 what a deal. The atmosphere is lovely

Sjoe, I have been going to Sinkhuis for many years. Usually for their T-bone special or their 'pap&kaïngs' breakfasts. In my opinion they are on a slippery slope. The cleanliness has been neglected. My eisbein was terribly rotten. I am put off, don't think I be going back soon 😔

Shockingly poor service. Racist staff as well. Basically had to go inside and order ourselves and then had to beg for the bill when we were done.

Worst experience!
Are the waiters being paid? does not look so ..hair in food ... attitude from staff and then the fact that food is very poorly prepared.perhaps should stick to being a bar rather than a restaurant....
Sanette Bester
Why is this restaurant so filthy. .has not been cleaned in years. Food nice though but the rest....terrible. Such a shame as this is a nice old piece of history
Dirk
I have been to Die Sinkhuis a few times in the past and everything is average. Not terrible just average. From the service to the food. I've had breakfast there before and it was average and also lunch with a friend and it was average. To be fair they do have good specials from time to time and it is very popular and is more of a 'kuier plek'.
Update: Their R75 Friday T-Bone special was superb!!!

Been here a few times with the most recent visit about a week ago. Priced very well considering you have such a variety to choose from - fish to chicken to pizza to steak. You will find something you like :) They do tend to get busy inside the building itself (bar area) so if it's privacy you want ask for a picnic table outside - the garden is gorgeous.

As a very popular place in the area, I thought it good to give it a try. It has a very relaxed and informal atmosphere and it is more of a party place than a restaurant. They have a lot of specials on for each night of the week, but there is nothing special about the actual restaurant.

They have a few specials running through the week which is nice.. Service is good and friendly. Nice budget dinner if you just want to eat some nice 'lekker' pub meals.. Will go there again!!!

Guys if you go pass this restaurant, be sure that you missed out! Fantastic relaxed atmosphere. Prices are from 1990! Staff is friendly and the chef will deviate from the standard recipes to suit the client. Please visit Die Sinkhuis when you are in Pretoria!
This is a place where you can go to escape- it reminds me of a "dorpie". Yummy food, and portions are big. A had a chicken prego, amazing. And my bf had the meaty sub, also amazing. The atmosphere is very farm-like/pub-like (chickens running around) and child friendly. It's a very nice place, except our table had ants on it (I don't know if it's maybe because it is outside), the wooden tables outside are a bit worn out. The service was nice, but by the end she disappeared. But, the food and atmosphere is nice.

During a power outage in the Moot area, this restaurant was open and ready to serve breakfast. The atmosphere is very tranquil with chickens running around and reminds me of the time spent on my uncle's farm in Kroonstad. They have their own butchery and all the meat on the menu perfectly ripened. Their portions are generous and very well priced.

Sinkhuis is always open and ready to serve you no matter who you are or when you come in. Friendly and helpful staff are ready to welcome you and serve you the best of the best that the moot area in pta has to offer. Come and enjoy the local quizine and conversation...* Sindy...is the bartender to have when visiting...

Die kos is lekker maar die diens was baie swak. Ek het bespreek in nie rokers area vir twee geen kelner kon my bespreking bevestig. Ons word sommer aan die voorkant ingedruk waar almal drink. Toe ek halfpad met my kos is toe loop daar n gogga in my bord. Die kelners is onopgelei na ons n hoofgereg bestel toe wil hy weet wat ons gaan eet as hoofgereg. Jammer nie weer vir my. Jammer my man dat ons herdenking so afgeloop het.

If pub cuisine is your thing then this is the place for you. They have a variety of grills on offer for big eaters and then some. Can recommend their Thursday Tbone special. The restaurant esthetic is not high but don't t be fooled by that. The food is great. Waiters a tad slow to my preference but my motto is "I'd rather tolerate slow service to bad food". Give it a go!

Sinkhuis is one of those comfortable venues where everyone will find something good to eat. Good variety on the menu and they serve generous portions. All the meals are well prepared and tasty.

Servers could be a bit sharper though but not the worst that I ever experienced. This is a restaurant that will make you come back again and again.

Had the best Chicken Mayo Sandwich ever at the Sinkhuis.

Went on a Sunday morning - the service wasn't spectacular but the surrounds made up for it.

Will pop in again sometime.
Christine Grobler
Anyone that criticises Sinkhuisie is obviously not visiting for the right reasons. We go to Sinkhuis for good food that makes you feel like you're right at home and a student atmosphere where you're comfortable having one too many beers with friends. Love it.

We had dinner there the other night. There were 7 in our party with someone in a wheelchair. Our table was two picnic tables pushed together but the person in the wheelchair was far away from the table because of the table leg. They were totally unprepared even though I phoned ahead with the reservation and asked whether it was wheelchair accessible. The tables were dirty and had to ask the waiter to clean it off. Our waiter, Llywellyn was very accommodating.

The food was sub-par and their online menu is different from their actual menu. The peri-peri chicken liver tasted too sweet and didn't have any flavour. Instead of having chips, we opted to have vegetables with the ribs, they gave us creamed spinach and carrots which they must've poured a whole packet of sugar on it! the ribs were tough! I had calamari & Scotch fillet, a white watery 'sauce' came with it. The Springbok carpaccio was disappointing - I couldn't taste the Springbok - just the vinegar!! My niece's steak was so under-done, she had to return it (although they never asked her how she liked the steak done).

All in all - a very disappointing eat-out.

The history behind the venue is very interesting but definitely NOT their food.

Best "local" anyone could wish for. Consistent quality with generous portions. The meat is fresh from the owner's own butcher shop around the corner.
