Review La Fiamma - Pretoria

Muriel Jansen van Rensburg
The very best beef carpaccio with deep fried capers I’ve ever had! Pavlova perfectly balanced and not overly sweet.
Anika Hugo
What an amazing restaurant! The food was great, the service was just perfect. It felt like you're transported to another country. I cannot say enough good things about LA Fiamma. Please go and try it yourself, feel the magic. Well done 👏 12/10 rated

Hubby and I popped out for a quick lunch today, and WOW the food, the service everything is perfect! I might have found my new favourite restaurant. We will be back

Had their deep fried Foccacia strips. Best thing I have ever tasted. The pizzas are authentically Italian. You will not be disappointed. 5 Stars are not enough.
Sonet Smit
Unfortunately we had limited time available so only had starters and a quick dessert. The beef carpaccio was the best I have eaten in a long time. Generous portions and well priced. Can't wait to go back!

Enjoyed the food!!! Love their service and perfect place to chill with your family and friends.

One of a dying breed, a smallish family run, independent of the big franchised restaurants, local eatery offering good service and good food. A good time was had by all and everyone was happy with their food. We all had something from the pasta menu. I had the beef lasagne, tasty and full of flavour. Also have a good wine selection, if slightly pricey.

Edit; We have now been coming here for two years, the food quality just seems to improve each time! The food was divine, generous portions, and the staff incredibly friendly. Coffee strong enough to give you chest hair, just the way we like it.

We had a great lunch at La Fiamma. Their salads are really unique with wonderful flavour combinations. Their service was friendly and attentive. Lovely atmosphere.

Good Italian food..at a good price .Thank you !
Wolf Botha
Incredible Italian restaurant with wonderful food and generous servings. A romantic European atmosphere, especially at night. The chocolate mousse was a little sour, but they were happy to exchange it for another dessert.
Maryke Steyn
As always a very nice experience, food delisious, waiter - Eddie - have a wonderful personality and is a good waiter to have. Very enjoyable... This is the 2nd time Eddie assisted us. What a wonderful man.

Absolutely loved La Fiamma!! It was my first time visiting and I will be back!!! They offer an extensive menu with many options. Brick oven pizza. The food was fresh, unique, and delicious. Great presentation. The staff was friendly and the decor is different. It has a European feel to it ! Definitely recommend stopping here.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ as always! Dinner at La Fiamma had become a family tradition. Spoil us with a refreshing winelist! 🍷 But never change your food it stays amazing!

Awesome date night!! Starters:oysters was very fresh. For dinner we had Camembert pizza and lasagna.. fresh ingredients makes a big difference it was fabulous . The Chocolate moose for dessert was to die for. Excellent service from our waiter Ben. We will definitely be back! Thank you LaFiamma-team!!

Liked the vibe, atmosphere and service was really five star. The layout of the restaurant though will never make a five star restaurant ..pretty disjointed in a tired shopping enclave. Food wise, the pizza was uninteresting, the baby chicken not exciting but the pasta was 200%. Go there and hope you order the right stuff!

I had the most delicious pomorodo pasta a couple of weeks ago. I keep dreaming of it, will definitely go back for more! The flavour took me back to our honeymoon on the Italian ship the Achille Lauro. Delicious!

The person who answered the phone wasn’t friendly at all. They said take-away pizza takes 25min, I was there in exactly 25 mins but the pizza was cold when I got it.

The pizza was still good but sucked that it was cold.
Cherize De Lange
Sorry to say but the food was tasteless and not well prepared. The lasagne had no layers and was just cheese and mush. Salmon pasta over cooked and very dry with no sauce.
Marilize Truter
At this stage I don’t think that anything on their menu is edible besides their Pizza which at best is average. I am so disappointed - order the seafood pasta, it is terrible, order the risotto and the only thing I can compare it to is the taste of dish washing soap. The food has gone from bad to worse. I thought the pasta was an isolated issue but after the risotto I feel like it’s safe to say it wasn’t. It is very unfortunate to see what was once such a good Italian restaurant go down the drain like this.

Visited the La Fiamma Cafeteria at Onderstepoort Campus. Unfortunately, instead of providing the food on plates, it comes in polysterene take away boxes with plastic cuttlery. If you want to have it served on a plate you need to explicitly ask for it.Very sad and dissapointing, especially for a Veterinary Faculty, to ignore the big plastic waste problem. Hopefully they will become more environmentally concious in the future!

Unfortunately not a good experience. Cold pizza with almost no toppings. Not what we expected for the price paid. Does not compete well with other pizzas in the East.
Elmien.mostert
Ordered takeaway pizzas on a Sunday night. It was ready in 15 minutes. Very tasty Quattro Formaggio and Al Capone. Crispy base and tasty toppings. Can recommend it.

We visited La Fiamma twice, enjoyed the vibe and the service was excellent. They have nice pizza but I was disappointed with my pescatore pasta. The seafood wasn't fresh. We will be back to try some of their other options.

My wife and I went for an early dinner. We were led to the smallest table in the restaurant even though we were the only customers in the restaurant. when we asked for a different table we were met with frowns from the waitress. I had ravioli which was 5 pieces of pasta in a bowl of sauce for R95. I asked the owner if she felt that this was a fair portion size. Her response was that I should order a double portion. She was more concerned setting up the live entertainment for the night than anything else. Very disappointing and poor value for money.
Jordan Mc Farlane
I don’t quite understand how this restaurant can advertise snails with a 3 cheese sauce and serve it with a white sauce with almost no cheese?? Tasteless, terrible!

I am unbelievably impressed with this stunning little Italian restaurant. I went not expecting much and I was really pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, the authenticity of the menu, the vibrancy of the atmosphere and the attentiveness of the service. The deep fried focaccia bread slices are nothing short of addictive and divine and the risotto that accompanied my perfectly cooked sea bass was the best I’ve ever had. My partner’s gnocchi was sensational and the whole experience was beautifully Italian and just wonderful. We cannot wait to keep coming back to explore all that La Fiamma has to offer.
MC
Don’t even TRY and have anything but pizza here (which is average), chicken livers are sour as hell, baked camembert is not even served with a crisp dough, clearly from fridge to oven and out in record time, over priced dishes and booze. Loved the food before the name and owners changed, went from hero to zero! 👎🏾

La Fiamma Ristorante Pizzeria is a charming little Italian gem tucked away in a small local shopping centre in Faerie Glen!

La Fiamma which means 'The Flame', is actually a famous Italian opera by Ottorino Respigh, and the name aptly suites this little hidden gem.

They serve fresh authentic Italian dishes daily in a casual family setting and the food is great value-for-money. They also pride themselves on having live music and lots of daily specials to tempt the tastebuds without hurting your pocket.
For example: 'Uncork Wednesdays' - pizza and a glass of wine for R95 (whilst you enjoy live music) or 'Ossobuco Tuesdays' - a delicious Milanese veal shank and a glass of Chateau Libertas for R95.

Food: On our first visit, we got three pastas to share:
Carbonara: bacon, egg, light cream and parmesan cheese with linguine pasta.
Allegra: Slow-cooked wild boar, mushrooms, herbs and a hint of garlic in a Napoletana sauce with penne pasta.
Al Sugo di Carne: Cubed rump and capers in a red wine and mushroom sauce with penne pasta.

The winner of the three meals on this first visit, had to be the 'Allegra' because it is something different and was just so full of flavour! I would highly recommend it!

Service: We were served by our smiling Ndebele waitress, Lisa on this visit. No complaints here, both our food and drinks arrived promptly without any issues.
In summary, generously sized meal portions, good value-for-money and tasty food all round. We enjoyed our meal here.

*Recommendation: La Fiamma is certainly a beloved neighbourhood local and I would recommend it as such. Hands-on service and hidden gem status!

For more, find me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter: LaurasWorldza

My experience at La Fiamma was incredible. The service we received was fast and really efficient. The menu has a great variety and both our meals exceeded our expectations.

Used to be nice place until some person got the order wrong after we repeated it 3 times over the phone and then blamed us for placing the wrong order. What we ended up with is not even on the menu.
Great spot to enjoy delicious pasta and pizza with family and friends. We grab takeaway pizza and pasta quite often.

Very enjoyable lunch and dinner destination

We visited La Fiamma a few weekends ago after realising that one of our favourite pizza joints have moved. But this is no second place believe me! A lovely, chilled and friendly place where we immediately felt at ease. Great service - stocking one of my favourite drinks - Aperol, and seriously good pizza. The base is a little thicker than what is conventional nowadays and it was really good! Our waiter, Ben, was very efficient and friendly, and we definitely will be back!
Full review on our website.

My husband and I went to La Fiamma yesterday - although the restaurant was almost empty, the service was very slow and we needed to call the waitress several times for service. The food was also average unfortunately. But the main reason for the bad review is the fact that loud Kwaito/African music was playing, same CD and songs on repeat which was very disturbing, and obviously the staff's choice, seeing as it is an Italian restaurant. When we kindly requested from the waitress to please change the songs/ turn it down she downright refused and gave us an attitude and said that the music was not the same songs being repeated, and there was nothing wrong with it. You could see that she was angry and aggressive due to the request. It was not an unreasonable request and it was not meant to be offensive to anyone, in fact - if my restaurant was empty and I could change something to attract more customers, I would listen - having waitresses with such attitudes will only make the restaurant lose more customers! I will never return. When we originally sat down I was planning to host my birthday which is coming up there, but after the bad experience I do not feel comfortable recommending the restaurant to anyone.

Amazing fillet and pastas and they deliver. Love having a perfect fillet in front of the TV after a long week.

The atmosphere they create in the tiny space they occupy is amazing. Really wish they were located on a quiet street though.

2nd time here, 1st was a bit disappointing, but not now i was impressed services was quick and efficient. Starter of chicken livers was divine, and the lamb stunning!

I will strongly recommend this place even if you have been here before -huge improvement!

What a stunning place to have a lovely evening out. The atmosphere is pleasant, every pasta dish and pizza we have had at La Fiamma has been excellent. The variety of flavours are a treat and the best pomodoro sauce! Such accommodating waiters that provide attentive service and add to the lovely evening. A good range of wines to choose from, with a lovely intimate vibe. We just keep going back.

Spezzatino se manzo was my starter the best i had tasted yet !!! The olive flavor and the beef was just exquisite . I had the al sugo de carne for mains and it was also good . Service was good . The establishment is neat and clean .

My mother's birthday was celebrated at this little Italian restaurant. It is a real pity that they do not offer gluten free pizza or pasta but nevertheless my family enjoyed their food a lot. I ordered the fillet with camembert which is very expensive. The apricots was not a good combination and my meat was a bit dry. We waited over an hour for our food after ordering which we were not informed about. The milkshake and dom pedro machine also broke half way through our meal.
Coen Blignaut
Maybe my expectations were too high, since we only stopped by for a late-afternoon desert and coffee. I still hate leaving a restaurant feeling ripped off, though. My wife had the tartuffo and I had the chocolate brownie, the descriptions sounded divine. However, the brownie was very small, and tasted like... just an ordinary plain brownie, quite dry. My wife's desert was also quite plain. For the price, we just expected more.

After we were served we didn't see the manager again, he magically disappeared so that I could not give him this feedback personally. The food menu sounded very good, will now never know.

Home delivery is very quick and the food is absolutely delicious! We usually order pizzas or the pork belly and whole chicken - like fine dining at home! Lifesavers to us as parents of a newborn!

A sublime dining experience!
La Fiamma is a cosy and welcoming restaurant tucked away in Faerie Glen.

The staff were friendly and the service was good.

We had the lamb chops and the peri peri chicken. This was accompanied by side chips, mash, savory rice and vegetables. The meat dishes were prepared in a pizza oven and took just over 40 minutes to arrive. It was definitely well worth the wait. The meals were delicious. It was hard not to get our hands dirty. Our waiter was kind enough to provide after dinner finger bowls.

The bill was accompanied by the most delicious melt in the mouth mini meringues.

We really enjoyed our dining experience there and will surely be back.

Awesome food and excellent service. Great atmosphere. Live entertainment on a Sunday was an awesome bonus.Thank you for a fantastic afternoon / evening out!

Proud to call it my local Italian ! Consistent in service excellence, friendly and efficient staff & management. Great vibe! Had an excellent birthday celebration here with 17 guests, they made one large table for us, specially made up, and Naomi look after us all in style
Bernadette
We eat here at least once a week and love it! The food is good and the service is excellent. We especially love the tasting evenings and that they deliver to our house!

We had such a stunning lunch here today!! Great service and divine food!! I had the belly pork and David had the chicken schnitzel - both were delicious
The Secret Foodie Lady
Had a wonderful experience at the dinner pairing on 1 June with The Glenlevit... Yummy scotch. A delicious gourmet 3 course meal was prepared by the kitchen. I had the scallops for starters & salmon for mains. Apparenly I need to try their pizza... Will have to go back soon.

Food beyond amazing.
Hospitality is fantastic. It's always a pleasure to be greeted and taken care of my the owner. Superb food and a beautiful hangout on a Sunday afternoon. Live Jazz.
One of my favourites....
Mr & Mrs Smith
Absolute gem of a restaurant! Amazing to see people put their heart and soul into a place and making it work! Too many people are quick to throw places under the bus because of one average experience. I love this place and will return time and time again. Amazing food, attention to detail from the owners and putting in endless hours to create such joy for so many! Well done La Fiamma. Individual restaurants deserve support from foodies all over!

It was a Sunday afternoon and my partner and I were looking for somewhere to go for lunch where we had not been before. We came across La Fiamma.
The waitress was excellent and really went out of her way to make sure that everything we needed was there. They had a Sunday special on the pizzas and pastas, where you also receive a free Jack Black craft beer. The combination is very strange and doesn't really compliment the food. The option of a glass of wine would be better as not everyone drinks beer. We had to leave our beers there as we couldn't drink them, quite a waste if you ask me.I ordered the snails and my partner had the Involtini Melazana, which was great, but extremely small. For R66 it's a bit excessive.

The snails and bread were some of the best I had ever had. For mains we had the Maialino pizza which was fantastic and the Al Amatriciana pasta which was average, but not terrible.
Overall I had a good experience and would be delighted to go back.

Last week we went to La Fiamma for dinner and I must say this place is amazing. I have never been here before and wow was it an amazing experience. The service and food was excellent. I had the Fillet with a red wine and mushroom sauce, it was one of the best fillets I have had. What really stood out for me was the Crema Catalana dessert, this is a MUST TRY. The chocolate mousse is also really delicious and not too rich. The restaurant was also child friendly, as my son enjoyed his time in his baby chair.

Thank you for the stunning experience! See you soon

La Fiamma is a fantastic Italian restaurant. The Italian values of stylish hospitality is honored. All five of us enjoyed our Sunday lunch.
The starters were magnifiscent in taste and presentation. Bruschetta - ciabatta painted with rosemary oil, topped with red onion, rosa tomatoes and basil, covered with mozarella and parmensan and grilled - delicious the contrasting flavours and texture. My salmon filled ravioli with butter lemon sauce looked and tasted divine.
Ribeye steaks were cooked perfectly and served with a large medallion of cold herb butter with a little chilli. This is such a refined alternative to a sauce in my opinion.
Creme Catalan is their version of creme brulee and absolutely delicious. Slightly runny custard with a hint of orange & cinnabmon, topped with burnt sugar.
Our waiter, Do It, was friendly, convivial and competent. His colleague, Darling, also helped when needed. All under the stylish owner's watchfull eye.

Had an absolutely amazing experience at La Fiamma this weekend. The food is amazing and service really great. It is a super pretty restaurant with a wide variety of well prepared Italian dishes. I had the beef carpaccio and shared a focaccia with my friend. Really was spot on for a lunch date. They have a nice variety of wines and interesting options to choose from. Shared two deserts; the creme brûlée and the tiramisu; possibly the best I've ever had!

Will definitely go back.

We had the pleasure of dining at La Fiamma yesterday. Italian wine served with the most authentic food. Our waiter Thabo gave us excellent service, making our night truly special. Thank you for the treat. We will definitely return to this gem in Faerie Glen. Grazie 🍾🍷🍝

La fiamma is a modern Italian restaurant in Farrie Glen.

Have been here a few times since it opened last year and the food is still really good. They have interesting pizzas. The rest of the menue remains to be explored 😊

The service is good. Their Monday special is really worth while.

Will be back 😄😄😄
Fritz's Snack Shack Review
So I find myself again in this small shopping centre in Faerie Glen and I smell the wood fire so upon investigation I come across this Italian Restaurant. I'm recieved professional at the reception by a very smart looking lady. I ask her if they make wood fire pizzas and she says yes and gives me the menu. I decide on a Quattro Formaggi Pizza R92 for Takeaway. I did wait to long for it. When I sat down at home to enjoy it I found a lovely thin crispy base real Italian style. However the wow flaviour of 4 cheeses was missing. Not even an hint of Gorgonzola. I was disappointed with this expensive pizza's favour. I will however go visit the Restaurant for a sit down meal to do a true assessment.
The Pretoria Explorer
Situated in the heart of Faerie Glen is a lovely little Italian restaurant called La Fiamma. It was a scorching afternoon with a temperature of 36 degrees-a temperature that demands a mandatory cocktail. Upon arrival we ordered two cocktails: A Voddi and A Jamaica (which bursts of coconut and mint flavor). Before we knew it, the menu enticed us into ordering this beautiful perfectly moist Lindt Chocolate brownie garnished with dried cherries and pecan nuts, served with marshmallow fluff and an enchanting rhubarb and ginger ice cream capped with spun sugar. For the less experienced pallet I would recommend going for a Vanilla ice cream. La Fiamma boasts a variety of milkshakes such as a peanut butter and Banana, strawberry shortbread, Nutella, and chocolate hazelnut milkshakes. It is one of the few places which cater for anyone with a sweet tooth. The service above everything else is most certainly worth mentioning.Robyn Jacobs thanks for the suggestion
René Bennett
This is one of our regular go-to places whenever nobody feels like cooking. Tonight, from the get go our service was great. Our waiter, Ben, was always just there whenever we needed something. The food was excellent, I can honestly recommend the veal.
Talita Jacobs
So first time at La Fiamma and to be honest wasn't looking forward to it because I loved Pascalli's... BUT oh my word I LOVE this place, amazing food, great wine and wonderful service from Mike our waiter... a must try if you've never been... they will definitely see me again..!!!
Angelique Roodt Du Toit
A little restaurant around the corner from home makes this a nice place for a no fuse dinner. The menu is dominated with Italian fare(pizza and pasta) non the less the less the meat options are divine! Try the camembert fillet or better yet the pepper fillet!
Marike Bezuidenhout
Love this place!!! Great food! Great vibe! Awsome owners and staff!!! Just love it!!! Had my birthday there last night and what a treat and special service!!!!
Mandy Reichert
Popped into this quaint little restaurant for a quick bite. Tasty food, lovely presentation, food was very quick but restaurant was quiet. Wilson our waiter was very hospitable.

La fiamma is fantastic. Decor is absolutely beautiful and reminds me of restaurants I've been to in the Italian alps. Only way I can describe the food is "Authentic". Staying true to proper italian style, the sauces are light and balanced, and the pasta is perfectly al dente. You'll really enjoy the atmosphere for an amazing date spot and a bit of romance.
Chicara
This little Italian hideaway is just down the road from me and I never even knew it existed! I was able to sample all the starters and my favorite by far was the tasty Involtino melanzane. Lots of flavour! I also enjoyed trying scallops for the first time after watching countless food shows featuring this delectable fishy dish.

The pasta dishes were all decent, but unfortunately none of them really jumped up at me and said wow. There were two highlights that evening. The bread basket which can be best described as 'salty doughnuts'. A twisted dough stick that satisfies a salty palette. Yum! I was also completely smitten with the lindt chocolate brownie - rich, decadent, gooey and worth another visit. I'll be going back for that slice of chocolate heaven. It's also the reason I'm giving La Fiamma a 4. 👌

The service was good, the decor and ambience was lovely and overall I had a fabulous evening drinking wine and stuffing my face with carbs. Thanks Monieeek, Zomato and La Fiamma.
Helène Kleynhans
You can give me pasta every day, and La Fiamma is doing it right! We shared a few of their best starters on the menu (ricotta wrapped in brinjals - YUM!), then we had another share of a selection of their best pastas, which followed with their most popular desserts. I can really say that every pasta dish I tasted was so good and full of flavor. The brownie for dessert was definitely everyone's favorite. We had really good and friendly service, and the quint restaurant setting made for an enjoyable winters night out.
I Love Pretoria
I Love Pretoria was pleasantly surprised by this little hideaway in Faerie Glen.

A quaint, modest restaurant from the outside, La Fiamma turns into a feast of the senses once you step inside. We were welcomed by a nice land comfortable corner table and treated to an amazing table-sharing meal, which featured some of La Fiamma's best menu options, from starters to desserts. Not that we were even able to finish our dessert. The portions are so satisfying and the service, atmosphere and food makes La Fiamma a definite must-visit for those looking for something different and something kind of amazing any night of the week.
Miss Zomato
So they say dont judge a book by its cover, and this is exactly what I would say about La Fiamma. Driving there, not knowing what to expect, I arrived at the destination. From the outside you would think that its a place that sells fish and chips takeaways, but when you step in, everything changes.

We were served by Ben, the awesomest waiter ever. He was such a delight and really catered to our every need. We then had the starters, which was define! They also served focaccia bread sticks, which no one could resist. The variety of mains they served us was delicious, especially the salmon pasta. We were then served a variety of desserts, but the chocolate brownie won!!

Will definitely revisit them in the near future.
The Secret Cat
La Fiamma was such a gem to discover... I had previously overlooked this restaurant because it looks so average from the outside; but once you walk in through the door you realize you were wrong. It's stylish, eclectic and trendy! The food was delicious; I could eat the "welcome bread" all day (it's strip focaccia) and the pastas were really really well made. Lastly, i really should mention that the service (we had Ben) was marvelous, fast and attentive without being overbearing. I'll definitely be back. Soon!
Jean-Mari Blaauw
I was invited to a Foodie Meet-up by Zomato. I didn't quite know what to expect. But, WOW! I am so excited about this new gem! Tiny, cozy, beautiful and awesomely yummi food. We were presented with most of the meals on the menu and there was literally not one dish that disappointing! I will definitely recommend the Involtini Melanzana (mozzeralla cheese wrapped in brinjals) for starters, La Bella Sienna (smoked salmon pasta) for mains and off course the Chocolate Brownies for dessert! #zomatoxlafiamma

Best Italian food in Gauteng! The food is tasty, fresh and authentic. The service is excellent and the decor adds to the experience !! Really worth a try!!!

Ummm. Wow!! The food is beyond! Wine selection fantastic and the service impeccable. Beyond expectation (which was already high). What a great 'date-night' spot.

Excellent service. Lovely fathersday lunch. Had lasangne, pork fillet and pork belly. So tasty and presented beautifully. The deep fried rosemary focaccia was a lovely surprise. They offer cullinary classes. Will definitely consider.
