Review Meet On Milner - Pretoria

Awie Thompson
What a lovely place for a leisurely lunch with good friends, good food and a glass of ice cold sauvignon Blanc. I had what must count for one of the best ever chicken salads I have had the pleasure of tasting and my dining partnet had the fish cakes which was also top notch. The only problem we encountered was to find parking nearby. Will most definitely be back (if we can find parking)!

I've been frequenting here for years, and this is a long overdue review. JP and all his staff are all exceptional. His interior ambience (inside / outside) works perfectly, in this special location - street dining at its finest. Food and wine are all great and reasonably priced. Just bring great company, and you'll also become a regular.

Pleasant surprise! Nice place with an old french feel and inviting ambiance. Decor is a charming mix of good old and funky. We visited for lunch and the food and service was excellent. The roasted lamb could not have been more fingerlicking good and pasta not more creamy and tasteful. For dessert we had the Creme Brulé and Three scoop ice cream - a perfect finish. Places like this make you fall in love with Pretoria again. All very delicious. This places comes highly recommended 👌.

Best food I've tasted in forever. We actually went as a group of friends and we ended up sharing some food so everyone could have a taste, all plates are well presented and delicious!

Awesome restaurant. Exclent food, good service, a nice vibe and atmosphere. We visited for lunch. The lamb of the day and pasta was delicious as well as the deserts. Will highly recommend tand go back.

Honestly one of my favorite places in Pretoria to have a nice meal and spend time with family and friends. The staff is incredible, the food was delicious and THE BEST DESSERT I have ever tasted in my life wow 😍🍰 Thank you Vichy and team, much respect.

Wow!!! Wish I took pics of the service, the food, the atmosphere - a delightful experience Well done to one of the best and most customer centered restaurants!!! Thank you to every staff member

Very good experience with great food, personal attention by manager and excellent, discreet attention and service by waiters. We loved the street cafe like ambiance!

As always a lovely experience. This remains one of my all time favourite restaurants for a Sunday lunch with family. A calm and relaxed atmosphere with good service and a great variety of choices when it comes to dishes. The venison carpaccio is a must as a starter and my classic go 2 choice. As a main you get a selection of dishes of the day, although I opted to go for the fillet duo - which was immaculate. For dessert you also have an array of choices... My favourite remains the chocolate brownie/blondie duo with coconut ice cream. All around an amazing experience with a great balance of fine dining and a relaxed atmosphere. I go here at least 3 times a year and they've never disappointed in quality, presentation, service or atmosphere!

My first of many to dine at Meet On Milner. The service was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is out of this world.
H Heinrich
One of the top community restaurants in Waterkloof - absolutely worth the visit

Lovely Saturday afternoon with a lovely atmosphere. Trendy but so laid back. The music is wonderful.

Really enjoyed the food. Not many places offer " steak tartar "

Went there on Sunday morning and had Iced Coffee and Cuppacino. Service was good and Staff very friendly. Next time, l will have a meal. Atmosphere is very inviting and welcoming. Would recommend it to friends definitely.

What a little treat. The decor is fun yet classy. The smoking area out back is beautiful... the trees and lights and flowers was stunning. Our waiter Blessing was friendly and thorough. The food was superb.. we had the Cajun filled and the au pavoir which were done to perfection and bursting with flavour. The mousse was the best mousse I've ever had. The balance of the chocolate, strawberry and toasted almonds was divine. Definitely going to go back!

Great service.Great food and coffee.Pity they don't offer a large size coffee.Salmon salad very good!
Albrecht Kuhne
Good service, good food and nice atmosphere.

We usually go some Friday nights and we love the vibe, especially in winter. They have a small menu but I'm sure everything is tasty. I had the Rosini (chicken liver sauce) Fillet with zucchini fries which was perfectly cooked and just divine!
MC
Completely overpriced for the size of the portions that are dished up! If only those little portions were extremely tasty, but dismally disappointed, from start to finish.. Loads of other much better tasting food AND drinks at half the price in the area, please don’t fall in the same trap we did..

Waterkloof gem with live music! Beautiful setup, amazing ambience and unforgettable food. Thanks guys for consistently being amazing! Looking forward to the next band night.

Good weather called for good food - sitting outside! Decided to try Meet on Milner with friends. Received a warm welcome and were seated outside. The place was not too busy, but there was a bit of a delay in receiving our orders. Nonetheless, we placed our drink orders (from G&T to soft drinks). We decided on tapas for mains. Ranged from ribeye to fillet to lamb cutlets to fish cakes to prawn bruschetta. Good flavours (small portions though compare to other restaurants selling tapas). For desserts we had pumpkin fritters with ice cream (yum) and mousse. They didn’t have chocolate fondant in stock (I picked up late that after we paid that they charged us for it!! They did refund us afterwards). Finished off with some cappuccinos. Good all round place and good ambience.

Popped in here for a spontaneous lunch one day and managed to get the last table available. Luckily, it was right on the street curb and it was a great day so it offered the perfect setting to dine. The food was absolutely scrumptious and the staff were very attentive. <br/><br/>I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for something special and I will be returning here very soon!

Went to Meet on Milner for a quick dinner. I must say the menu has a few very unique items that you won't find at many restaurants and it was delicious. Definitely recommended!<br/><br/>

Standards slipping<br/><br/>Great atmosphere, but food standard slipping. Service was good. Visited midweek evening,Had my old favourite, the Pesto pasta, which unfortunately arrived cold, very little pecorino cheese. Had the dish seen some cream, it may have been a lot better! Pasta isnt rocketscience. We tried the carrot cake, misnomer as its more an apple flavoured affair.not even average. For a good carrot cake, head down to Groenkloof Spar. Time to jack up this kitchen, before we move on.

Have been here a few times and always enjoy it. One of the ‘up- there’ restaurants in Pretoria. Ambience is great and waiters that are clued up is a bonus. The place has a personal touch to it, with food that are very flavoursome where one can taste the fresh ingredients. Always a winner!

There to celebrate our daughters graduation. Cold food. Charged for cover music which we didn't know about. Still gave 12% tip but had to add cash as waiter made error on keypad. <br/> Disappointed😥

Meet on Milner is a classy, casual cafe experience. Situated in the heart of old Waterkloof, this establishment offer you an unique experience paired with good food and is a sure catalyst for great conversation with friends and family.<br/><br/>Their menu is priced slightly high, but surely gives you a lot more than you are paying. Food is decadent and well prepared and if you should close your eyes, you might even feel that you are in a streetside cafe in Europe.<br/><br/>Meet on Milner regularly have evenings with live entertainment and special offerings. Watch them closely and make sure you get there and enjoy!<br/><br/>PS. Check out their Chandeliers! Beautiful!

I made a reservation for two, on arrival a Blues band playing in the background without being made aware of this during my reservation. The music of this band was way too loud and felt like a screaming competition with my partner. The food in general was good but zucchini fries was a let down. When the bill arrived I was bemused about the fact that none of the prices on the menu included VAT and that there was no indication on the menu or restaurant that it was excluded, on top of the exclusion of VAT there was a R25 cover charge for the band that was playing in the background. When paying R150 plus for a plate of food at a restaurant one would expect that there will be no cover charge. When competing in the top tier restaurant making sure that there is a separate area where the music is not that loud would be expected and all the hidden costs for the restaurants is not acceptable

I had heard so much about Meet on Milner & was so pleased when I was invited for a Saturday lunch. What a disappointment! The service is atrocious! We had to keep calling someone to attend to us, wine just gets plonked on the table without an ice bucket, used glasses & plates had to be piled together & even then they weren't removed. The starters were good & reasonably priced. The mains were over priced & mediocre. I had the lamb chops ith pomme fritte & a side salad. The chops were tough & small at the price. The pomme fritte were soggy & cold & the side salad was strange - a bowl of rocket with a bit of feta & 2 cherry tomatoes & no dressing? The toilets are not clean & had no loo paper. I think the owner should spend more time overseeing && managing her establishment & less time drinking wine with her friends!

Very nice restaurant in Waterkloof with a pleasant atmosphere. As appetizer we had a pear salad which was good, but relatively simple with no dressing. As mains we had the Thai green curry and the fillet with cararmelized onions. Both good, but not super. Service was perfect!
Mmasenwe Takalo
We were here for a quick dinner. The steak was really amazing, so were the lamb cutlets, the staff was friendly. Quite a serene place to have a quiet night out.
Melissa Grobbelaar
We stopped for a quick Saturday lunch and what a surprise! Love the decor and with fantastic food, friendly staff and a live band... What more could you ask for on a sunny Saturday afternoon! We will be back again.

My aunt and uncled spoiled me a bit ybis weekend with a meal @Meet on Milner. I started with the lamb bryani, which was such a good choice! It was lovely and creamy and the spices were balanced perfectly. To finish off a lovely evening, I had the mocha springroles for dessert. The only way to describe these.....absolute taste explosion!

Want to take someone special out on a date or celebrate with your loved one. Here is the answer. Their fillet is the best and always at the highest standard. Great wine selection from good wine to great wine. No noise just quite relaxing and great food.

What a great restaurant, tucked away between the posh houses in a suburban Waterkloof street. Stopped by for an early dinner on a Saturday. First time I've been there... So impressed by the decor, friendly service and comfortable ambience. Menu choices well thought out, tastes and flavours perfectly combine to create deliciousness on a plate. I can recommend the bruschetta starter, especially the Milner Trio with a choice of 3 different toppings. The Royal stacks on the Mains section is actually a burger, which came as a surprise once the dish landed in front of me. But goodness, what a gourmet burger this turned out to be! A piece of succulent fillet, grilled to your liking, with tasty toppings, the flavours in perfect balance with one another. The menu was definitely put together with your taste buds in mind. The kingklip was also a winner, coming from a self-proclaimed seafood connoisseur. With no space for dessert, we left that to next time we visit. A great meal in a lovely restaurant. Now that we have discovered this gem, we cannot wait to take our friends there and show off our great find!
Kyle Liesker
Nice vibe, atmosphere was cosy.<br/>And that's pretty much it. Great potential BUT...<br/>Fillet was overdone. Partner's kingklip was overdone. How do you overcook kingklip???<br/>Rather disappointed.<br/>Suggest working on that "Meet on Milner"
Carice De Jager
Had a lovely dinner at Meet on Milner tonight, nothing out of this world but satisfying. I had the kingklip with grilled veggies.<br/><br/>The waitress seemed a bit clueless and does not know the menu very well but thats ok.<br/><br/>Does the food justify the price? No. <br/>The wine selection is fantastic though!<br/><br/>Overall: Average.
Meet & Eat
Struggling to understand why they don't have a website - for a place that is so trendy and in such a trendy area, you would think that the young owner would know to get her digital marketing and online presence up to scratch? Besides that point - great little spot, with beautiful french-style food and a nice atmosphere, despite the fact that the fancy interior can make it seem a bit uptight at first. Definitely impressed by their service and will be back soon.

I regularly come to this restaurant as I stay in Milner str and it's walking distance from my house. I love the music and ambiance although the service on my last visit was pathetic to say the least...<br/><br/>A friend and myself went for a drink on Saturday night, we were the ONLY people there for the 1st 30 minutes... If this restaurant was packed I would understand the slow / non existent service... The waiter asked for our drinks, placed them in front of us and basically vanished for the rest of the night. <br/><br/>We flagged down another waitress to get our waiter so we can pay the bill. He arrived, we paid and asked that he brings us our change... 20 minutes went by and I had to get up and walk to the cashier and ask for our change.<br/><br/>I really don't care how good the food is, with service like this I would just stay at home and prepare my own food. - Ag no man, BAD!

Had the worst experience I can remember.Booked a table Friday 6 May for 5 people for coming Sunday 8 May 14h00. Arrived in time, in fact 5 minutes earlier, only to realise no table was reserved! Referred us to a table set for  4 people and the audacity to say they can set a extra seating, where 4 people can hardly fit in.I find it in bad taste and not expected of a restaurant of your calibre.Trust me I for one will definitely not recommend you!Regards M.M.Esterhuysen

We had breakfast at the restaurant on Mother's Day. The staff were very friendly making us feel welcome. The old school style of the restaurant and background music was very pleasurable. <br/><br/>All three meals ordered were delectable. I ordered the salmon omelette which was delicious. <br/><br/>The restaurant is well worth a visit. We will be going back for lunch or dinner soon.

A lovely week night at Meet on Milner for a baby shower - or wine as id like to call it. Speaking of wine, great wine list and diverse but not massive menu. Staff were well trained and attentive. Ate tappa style and the presentation and food was well both sublime. The restaurant definitely gives you that feeling of village living - will most definitely be back.
Michael Hoffman
Was quite looking forward to going for dinner after reading the reviews. Must say the worst dinner experience ever. Waiters don't understand a word, they don't know what the food comes with or what sauces they serve and just say yes and after the meal arrives you find out what they actually have. Food quality is extremely poor, the past, flavorless and dry, the calamari (although this was only one taste as it was raw). And lastly the attitude of the managers mother was the cherry on the top. I advise look for alternatives or wait for the new restaurant that will most likely open there in the near future.
James Marsh
Very very good! Myself and a friend went here, and the service was just excellent! The food and wine selection was on point! <br/>We orderer a wide selection of tapas and shared with a exquisite bottle of Saronsberg! We were looked after continually by our waiter! And the ambience is something different from any other place! Will definitely be returning!
Shirley Hadary
We ordered the green salad as a starter and the Milner filet and lamb chops as a main meal. I asked for the fillet to be medium, it was raw! My husband asked for the lamb chops to be well done and they were medium. Pity. The waitress didn't seem too clued up on the menu. For dessert we ordered the "chocolate volcano" - this tasted like a microwave cake. Very disappointing considering the high prices.

Nice vibe for late afternoon/evening get togethers. I love the decor and side walk café style that they've created, it gives a nice ambience

Went to Meet on Milner for dinner. What a nice venue! Pleasantly surprised 😄<br/><br/>At first the waiter didn't understand what we wanted, but after a bit of coaching he was fine with the term "vegan". They did a lot to accomodate and the food was very tasty. Extremely well presented and somewhat different 😄😄. <br/><br/>Will definitely visit again 👍🏻👍🏻😄

Went here before reading the reviews. Was very impressed with the overall look and vibe of the place. <br/><br/>We started our meal off with the fishcake starter. Very appetizing. Made us all excited for the mains.<br/><br/>We had the Thai green Curry, the Milner Chicken salad and Pesto penne. The meals were all very tasty. Portions were small though.<br/><br/>Overall a cool place for a special evening.

Love this little gem. Went to meet a friend to have some drinks. We decided with the help of our very friendly and polite waitress on the mojito. It was very beatifully presented and one of the best I've had so far. I would recommend it for anyone that want to have a drink and something to eat with friends and family!
Stacey Faber
Lovely gem!! Feels like being in Europe! Food portions are small but the quality is brilliant! Great place to hang with your girls and have a glass of wine! 😁
Muguette Crozier
Great atmosfeer. Sitting on the stoep and listening to a love band... Ten out of ten for the atmosfeer. The food is not bad at all but, for the price that you pay the menu needs a lot of work. There are other restaurabts that I would go to because the food costs just as much but is a lot better. But over all a good experience.
Jacquelise
Celebrated my birthday at this beautiful place! Service was very slow initially, but the food was divine! Try the bruchette's as a starter...mouth watering! I had the thai curry as a main - generous portion and very tasty. Prices are very reasonable and the location is ideal.
Rachel Bright
Had a long boozy dinner with a big group of friends which was happily accommodated. The food was tasty and there was a wide choice. Rekorderlig cider is available which was very exciting.
Alette Wessels
One of my favourites in Pretoria  area. Friendly, pleasant staff. Small but interesting menu. On the pricey side for relatively small portions, but the ambiance, experience, quality linen, great sized wine glasses and superb coffee makes up for it - sort of. Best carrot cake ever!

Popped in here for breakfast a while back. Being my very first visit after always hearing about it, I was impressed with this lovely establishment.<br/><br/>Probably one of the best red cappuccinos that I have ever had! Just a little stingy on the honey, but once we asked for more, the friendly server immediately brought us some more.<br/>Just like the restaurant, the menu is also small and limited to what you can decide to eat. However, you have a variety of types of meats and veg.<br/>Portion sizes are a bit smaller than expected. So if you are expecting a big plate of food, I suggest that you have a snack to eat before visiting. <br/><br/>Love the decor and setting inside the restaurant. Somewhat a luxurious contemporary finish with lighting and mirrors make it a lovely setting for a romantic dinner by candle light for an early evening I would think.
Christopher
Our Family Favourite Restaurant Café is most definitely Meet on Milner in Pta East.<br/>The small but creative menu is simply to die for.<br/>We love the ambiance and vibey lounge style background music that just sets up the mood for a great 1:30-2:00 experience.<br/>The Tapas style menu gives you the opportunity to try dishes that you normally would not think twice to order.<br/>Zucchini Fries is a must!<br/>The desserts are exceptional.<br/>It can be pricey if you go overboard on the amount of Tapas plates you order.<br/>They do cater with a small a-la-carte section on the menu, I just find this you get all over.<br/>Service in the half dozen times we have been, really GREAT!<br/>Not hard to convince the Family to go to Meet on Milner, stays a Winner with us.<br/>Lastly, really good wine selection.<br/>A must try if you have not been.<br/>We always fortune with a table, would suggest you book.
Tsheo Masola
The menu is stunning, the ambience is intimate and warm. I want to live here!!! Waiting stuff is so helpful and friendly. Such a gem in Pta!
Angelique Roodt Du Toit
Quaint little restaurant... With a clasy atmosphere. Another favorite not only for its decor... But delicious menu. Try there Dijon Fillet. They also have a nice selection of wines and craft beer.<br/>

Will recommend this small but comfy restaurant to everyone. Great Service, Awesome vibe... And the food... Gordon Ramsey will be surprised how good it is...
Simòne Engelbrecht
Went out for dinner on Saturday night at meet on milner. The food was good but definitely overpriced. The service wAs awesome, they even made us our own cocktail. The setting And vibe is definitely special. You could easily imagine yourself in paris at a cafe. The only downside is that they are definitely overpriced.
Martin Sox
The most over-priced café I've ever been to. For a restaurant that is labeled as café, did they think that adding contemporary to the label could then justify them pricing the way that they do? I don't mind being charged R100 to almost R200 for a main meal, however what bothers me is the size of the meals. Tiny! If you're selling me a creamy prawn artichoke mushroom pasta for R165 I'd really enjoy if the meal size justified me paying that price. Pasta is a fairly cheap ingredient to use, they could add more, or at least give more prawns or perhaps rethink using a pricey artichoke on which to lower prices and it doesn't do anything for the meal. (I like artichokes very very much, but 86 it) <br/>I really enjoy their menu and what they have on it, it all sounds delicious and wonderful.<br/><br/>The (main meal) fish cakes I had were good, but not R140 good. For the cost of ingredients and the amount given, I expect more. Fine dining prices are set for fine dining restaurants…this is nice contemporary café, non? All I can say is Meet on Milner, keep it simple, give more food or price accordingly. <br/><br/>May I now continue on to the service…all I can say is my meal better be damn good to warrant that service. As patrons we always complain that servers should leave us alone more, but yesterday I was beckoning for more attention! It didn't help that they decided to move tables for the dinner service while we were still eating. <br/><br/>Overall, I'm upset with Meet on Milner. I've been wanting to try this place for months. Your location is a superb and your restaurant is beautiful. But for the love of God, change your portions or change your price. <br/><br/>
Maverick Jae
Tasty, expensive, noisy and slow. <br/>I've been meaning to try meat on Milner for a while now, and finally took the plunge. <br/>I went for a late afternoon lunch, which it turned out was a mistake. The restaurant is right on the street and the combination of the afternoon traffic and the restaurant setting up for evening service took away from the ambiance. The menu looked promising, I had a prawn penne and my friend ate the fish cakes, both dishes were tasty. But portion sizes were small and prices very high (a scenario more appropriate for fine dining) and I left the restaurant still hungry (again, something more akin to fine dining). The service started well but gradually got worse as we progressed through the meal, unacceptable at that price point especially as the restaurant was relatively quiet.

Meet on Milner...I finally trekked my way there last weekend for an afternoon catch up session with the bestie. It was a balmy Saturday, perfect for the set up they have there. However, instead of the sidewalk seating, we opted to sit inside where the wide open entrance allowed for that day's wonderfully summery heat rays to enter the small restaurant interior and make it just as balmy inside! Between the more Victorian dining half, and the darker, more broody bar half, I'm completely enamored with the former space. Soooo romantic. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff who brought out our orders with the quickness too! I loved that the wine was served in the goblet-style glasses but I felt they'd been a little stingy with the portions. For lunch, bestie had the Pear Salad, which for purposes of taste was scrumptious but looked a little on the 'skinny' side. More leaves and other vegetable ingredients perhaps to fill up it & make it worthy of a title like 'lunch salad'. I had the Sesame Chicken and boy oh boy was it to. die. for!!! The toasted bun, succulent sauce, cashew nuts, Brie & avocado! All of it just excellent. And the sweet potato crisps? My, my. All they needed was just a dash of salt to bring out their honest-to-goodness flavour! Between my 'burger' and those crisps, oooh I was in flavour heaven! That's an excellent dish right there. My friend had an imported Swedish cider that was served in the most appealing fashion! And it tasted yum too. Well as far as yum goes where ciders are concerned anyway. Worth the R50 price tag. <br/><br/>Afternoon turned to evening and I started to feel peckish again and decided to try their lemon and ginger wings. Unfortunately, big disappointment. They were dull, over-fried and consequently dry. Also, R59 for three wings isn't kosher. At least four would have been fair. <br/><br/>However, all the staff including the manager on duty on the day were friendly and interactive and we didn't once feel unwelcome in the 4 or so hours we were there! I'd return here. Again on a lovely, lazy summer Saturday!

Found my new favorite 'catch up with dear friends' spot in the heart of Waterkloof. Trendy local atmosphere. Variety of tapas - perfect for when dining with close friends and talking gets in the way of eating.
Klaudia Gebert
Delicious food! - Good service! - Lovely ambience! AND the best chocolate mousse i have ever tasted!<br/>Definitely a hidden gem! Not your average restaurant. Meet on Milner features small spaces and beautiful interior accompanied with excellent food!
Andre Kruger
I come here often in the afternoons for a quick business meeting, I absolutely love their Tapas selection. I like the fact that the food arrives very quickly after ordering, piping hot to perfection, I like the vibe, the wine list is not extensive but the offering excellent. The food is really good and price very reasonable.  I shall return again and again. You often go to restaurants and the food is nice but nothing invites you back..... This place is differrent...... When in doubt visit Meet in Milner....... The 3 Ducks opening next door you will have to pull the "cooked" rabbit out the hat to beat them ;)
Bernice
What a gem! Food was divine and the setting and decor like a little French cafe. Service was a bit slow but worth the wait .... An absolute delight having been served in decent size wine glasses, not one you would find in a pub. Classy!
Talita Jacobs
I had my birthday dinner at Meet on Milner, it was SO amazing the food the service and of course the WINE!! The waitress coped so well with a table of over 25 people. I did however forget my flowers at the restaurant, but a must try if you've never been!!
Carmen Janse Van Rensburg
Went to Meet on Milner for my sister's birthday. Wine was divine, food was ok but they maybe need to invest in more waiters as the poor waitress was running around like crazy to assist the table with that said; the waitress actually kept up and we had no issues with the bill! Which rarely happens! Will definitely see us again!
Cheryl Von Solms
I absolutely love this place! The food is excellent, the service is not only speedy but friendly too and the atmosphere/street cafe vibe makes for a relaxed experience.
Rynoux Du Preez
If you like the small type street restaurants (Paris) this is the place to go. The food is great and affordable. The restaurant has a nice vibe and is almost always packed in the afternoons. Had an overall good experience at this venue.
Line Wiid
Haven't been there for a while went back and had a stunning afternoon. Much improved menu and the food was great! The Roasted Grape Crostini is a must try.
Kyle Philip Coulson
Was a good experience. Definitely a restaurant with class! A big glass of wine is always a bonus. Just a bit disappointed with the price compared to portions but everything tasted great!
Ruan Daffue
I use to love going to Meet on Milner. Unfortunately, the past couple of times I've noticed that the food is really overpriced and the quality is deteriorating; R180 for a frozen 130g kingklip main, which had close to no seasoning, and was served with dry, hard butternut. I know this was no exception, because three of our guests also complained about exactly the same thing. My wife had the fillet, she asked for medium rare and got a very rare piece of meat. One expects that at a price tag of R172 that the meat would at least be cooked to perfection. Please dont let it slip MoM.
Lee-Anne Jacobs
Fabulous fabulous venue for a long gossipy lunch - food was outstanding !! Excellent and attentive service. Wine glasses are an excellent size - one of my pet peeves when the wine glasses are stock catering size. Highly recommended !!
Marisa Triegaardt
Met a friend at Meet on Milner for dinner. I think they'll have a -better- lunchtime vibe as they're rocking the sleek and unique sidewalk-hideaway café look and feel (like the place that you can tell has good coffee simply by looking at it from across the street). Enjoying wine or many of their interesting drinks on the 'sidewalk' area. <br/><br/>It's where friendships are reinforced and lazy days will feel well spent. They do tapas, but this is definitely a place you want to frequent closer to payday!<br/><br/>The decor is beautiful and unique. Friends of equitation (saddles are used in the decor (neat!!)) and fine palates will feel right at home. <br/><br/>Service was good and friendly. The atmosphere was conducive of quality time. I was pleased with the ample space between tables, no claustrophobic rubbing-shoulders-with-other-patrons nonsense. <br/><br/>P.S Have the chocolate mousse. Shhh, no 'but'. Have it. Life's too short anyway.
Eugenie Herbst
Lovely establishment. Tastefully decorated. Very interesting menu. A must: brinjal and goats cheese crostini. Absolutely satisfying! Meet on Milner or "MoM" is a perfect place to catch up with a friend over a glass of Krone Chardonnay Pinot Noir whilst nibbeling on their to-die-for zuchinni fries.

Tuesday, 24th February. I came to Meet Me on Milner with two of my friends to have brunch. I ordered a Milner fillet, but when I sunk my teeth into it, it was burnt. Literally tasted like charcoal. The service, however, was great. Our waiter, Admire (his name), was an absolute gentleman. I'm really disappointed at the food I ate. I'm not sure if I'll return for the food or great energy.
Theresa Van Oordt
I went to Meet on Milner for my 30th birthday party on a Thursday evening. 35 of my friends attended, and the evening was just fantastic!<br/><br/>Meet on Milner provided three excellent waiters who provided great service, the ambiance was exceptional and the food was delicious. Every-one really enjoyed it! And we did not even pay a booking fee or had any of the usual hassles regarding no splitting of bills etc. that you sometimes find at other restaurants. It was just such an amazing evening! I would recommend it to any-one!
Erhardkk
The outside area is lovely in the summer and their selection of "tapas" type dishes are delicious. Our waiter was friendly and making sure everyone was having enough of a good time.
Juandra Boshoff
Delicious food, classy place! Love the appetisers!
Greta Van Rensburg
Lovely 'stoep' outside, lovely atmosphere, wonderful coffee, small but delicious menu, the BEST carrot cake ever. One of my favorites for meeting friends, a quick coffee, wine on the 'stoep' or a scrumptious meal.

Excellent dinner sensation, live band.. - NO, not ACDC wannabe's, think violins and piano.. Good quality food is always a bit pricey.. Smart/casual

It is always a pleasure to have a quiet hour or two in the morning before a meeting to while away on an impromptu breakfast in a city you don't live in. Adventure beckons. New avenues to explore, new things to sample. So I thought when, after some quick research on Zomato, I decided to give this establishment a try.<br/>The location is exquisite, as is the decor. Call me a Johannesburger but I do like being greeted when entering a restaurant. And guided to a table. I also feel welcome when the waitress smiles and gives me the feeling she actually wants to be there and serve me. Not so in this place. Lasciate ogni speranza, vvoi ch'entrate. Because there is no hope in hell either the staff or the blonde Valkyrie owner/ manager will deign to greet you, serve you or make you feel welcome. <br/>The solipsistic stance with which this interloping customer was treated would be quite admirable were it not for the fact that it somewhat defies the usual gastronomic paradigm of: we, the proprietors, are welcoming you, the customer, in out establishment, hoping you have a great experience and feel at home.<br/>The grumpy attitude of the owner clearly serves as a role model for the insolent staff. <br/>The food, you ask? Who cares about whatever is being served there when it is done with such contempt. If pressed, I'd say: Nothing special, to be honest. Brie ordered, Camembert received. Mutton dressed as lamb. Loveless, joyless grub served by emotionless, autistic staff. <br/>Never. Never to return.

We had a brilliant first time visit. When we came back for a friends bday party we were sitting and drinking lekker and the rude blonde lady told us she is need to throw us out because another party has been booked. No apology or good hospitality service. Not trying to accomodate us. Just sorry you must leave. Really dissapointed....

Thursday morning 11 September, my friend Michelle and I met for breakfast at Meet on Milner.<br/>As we were a little early, (before 09:00 am), we had coffee outside on a comfortable sofa. The view is of a quiet suburban street. In October, when the Jacarandas are in bloom, the view is splendid, though it is fair all year round.<br/>I like tables laid with white linen cloths and simple fresh flowers. <br/>I had a crostini with goats cheese, roasted rosemary grapes and rocket, drizzled with honey. It was delicious. The portion is small. (One slice of bread) - it is meant as Tapas.<br/>Michelle had low GI toast (two slices) with scrambled egg and roasted baby tomatoes. It was very good.<br/>We also shared a portion of Spicy Diablo's from the Tapas menu: flash fried dates, stuffed with jalapenos and cheese, wrapped in bacon with a spicy, delectable sauce - very tasty!<br/>I would like to have lunch or dinner there soon!

Its small and cosy well decorated. Service is not that great waitress did not even know the menu at all. Very over priced.

A wonderful night out, the atmosphere ties in well with the tapas & wine vibe. The mains menu is very limited and over priced but I would definitely go back to feast on a few of their tapa options. All in all, Pretoria has a new kid on the block and you can expect great things from this restaurant.

I had my 21st function here and all I can say is that it was one of the best nights of my life. The food is absolutely divine, the deco is magnificent and the atmosphere is superb. The staff are friendly, kind and helpful. I would definitely host another party there!!!

Meet on Milner isn't open on Saturday nights because it does not cater to the "rugby-culture", according to the manager. That will suit its intended clientele; those looking for unpretentious but sophisticated dining in an intimate cafe setting.<br/><br/>The menu is small and so is the wine list, but the quality is good and the service is prompt, personal and professional. I had a 250g fillet with a Dijon sauce and a side salad. The medium-rare order was well prepared and succulent, although the salad was dressed up with a little too much lettuce. <br/><br/>Live music was provided by a jazz trio consisting of a double-bass, guitar and a muted trumpet. The unplugged music was very good and even though I literally sat two meters away from the players, I could hold a conversation without distraction - something other restaurants with live bands might want to take not of. <br/><br/>Desert was a delicious baked pear and coffee. Spirits are not licenced.<br/><br/>A nice surprise was the arrival of a world-famous tennis player's family. Obviously not wanting to attract attention, they choose the perfect spot for an intimate family gathering and seemed to have had a good time. They were certainly well attended to by the staff, but so were all of us there.

We Met at Milners....very very good. We had a 6pm seating for a party of 4 ....we were seated promptly and drinks served with in minutes. Starters were out within 15 minutes ( sweet potato chips and fillet strips...I could have just had them for a main and still given the restaurant 4 stars) the service was on point and left us wanting for nothing. I had the Milner Fillet as did my wife , hers with zucchini fries mine with potatoes the steaks both done to a perfect medium rare, the children had the basile penne pasta and the chicken strip starter .......again fantastic. We opted for icecream at Menlyn instead of dessert hear....just a craving. The food service and atmosphere all rated 5 stars the only draw back is the parking...ther just isnt a whole lot. I would highly recommend Milners to any on seeking a great meal.
