I’m here to brag about their French toast 👌🏽 it doesn’t get any better than the savoury sweet meal. Infused with flavours I can’t describe, wonderful service in a vibrant neighbourhood. 10 stars from me!
In the heart of Menlo Park Carlton Deli produces quality drinks perfect to brag about. From the get-go Carlton Deli was unique and a first of many authentic quality places in Pretoria. Between the fresh smells of stunning baking you will appreciate the brewed goodness Carlton Deli has to offer. The house speciality which is the chilli hot chocolate is by far the best hot chocolate you will ever have in Pretoria. It is a smooth real and rich dark chocolate brewed flawlessly to be a winter and heart warmer. The space and ambiance is bright, modern and stylish adding to be a perfect spot to meet your bestie or take your grandmother out for a delicate experience.
Drink to order – house speciality, chilli hot chocolate
This is an absolute gem! An original and inspiring menu - I really had difficulty deciding what to order. Then I realised, for the rest I have to go back for! Bubbly for brunch and the Marmite Tart with poached egg to eat. So delicious! So fresh and beautifully presented. I also had the sweet Masala coffee - like a 'dessert' after the meal. Sweet and decadent. Definitely my 'highly recommended' for where to have breakfast/brunch/lunch in Pretoria.
I have heard so much about Carlton so I was so excited to go for coffee here. The staff was so kind and attentive. My railroad coffee was delicious. Such a treat!
I shared a slice of cheese cake with a brownie and pear bottom. It was really delicious and subtle.
Definitely will be back for a meal!
I have visited this beautiful cafe twice now and have not regretted my decision. Great setting, lovely waitrons and baked goods to rave about!
This is such a lovely and homey spot to visit. I've been to Carlton a couple of times and never been disappointed! The decor is so contemporary and beautiful - a designer's dream!
Even if you are just popping in for a drink, you can't go wrong with pretty much whatever you pick from the menu! Their granadilla lemonade is perfect for a warm day whilst their selection of teas and coffees are sure to warm you up from the inside out!
Always a favourite spot to visit.
One of my favourite places when in Pretoria! What's not to love about Carlton...delicious food...great atmosphere...and artisan bread! I love it.
Reminiscent. I just had a thought about my 20th birthday celebration and how I got to share the most scrumptious breakfast with the most special people. And yes, that was a slice of cheesecake bright and early ☀️
Noteworthy drink : the rosemary and lemon cordial. My oh my is that an unconventional, but delicious combination.
And Dukkha eggs? Need I say more?
I can't wait to pop in again ☀️Natalie De Canha
A dessert menu to die for, my mum and I came to Carlton Café in search of the macadamia nut blondie and we were not disappointed. On the contrary, we were extremely impressed. Their homemade vanilla bean ice cream definitely deserves a mention. It has a very chilled European vibe to it without all the unnecessary superficial condescending undertones like many of the restaurants in its class. Minimalist interior with beautiful big windows that let the light in and add to the ambience. Staff were awesome, and were able to make recommendations on request. Left with full tummies and fuller hearts (and a sugar rush rivalled by few). Loved our experience as a whole, and will definitely be back to sample some items from the main menu.
Ohmyheavenonearth. The food at Carlton is phenomenal, but the drinks are honestly mind blowing. My cousins and I took a little Roadtrip from Joburg to Pretoria today and stumbled across this little gem - it was worth EVERY kilometer! I had a snazzy little earl-grey spritzer type drink, and my cousin had something similar with Rosemary! The service was speedy and the food we ordered was so well presented, and tasted even better. I'd highly recommend anything 😂👏 and there's a cute little bakery/confectionary store right next door! Nougat. Omnomnom.
I have been here a few times and I must say i am never dissapointed. I tried the duck done three ways dish which was really yummy. They serve it with a plum sauce to balance the rich flavours of the duck and it's worth a try! I also tried their famous fish n chip's! Light and crispy fish served with shoestring chippies. I was hoping that they had their amazing lamb soup on the menu, but maybe next time.
Lovely food, friendly staff, excellent experience.
Try the pulled pork open samie. Tasteful and we'll worth it. Come back anytime for the delicious food.
Great service - friendly and efficient!
Food was great and loved the Chili Hot chocolate (definitely a must try - and also the marmite tart). The menu is also great as it gives you some advice on what to order.
Love the black and wood décor as well!
This is a lovely cafe for a breakfast with a very interesting menu. Expensive though but it is almost gourmet type of meals. I wanted to order the Indian style scrambled eggs but the waiter advised that it is not very nice and most people return it. I appreciated the honesty and opted for normal scrambled eggs. Their sweet Masala coffee is very nice except too sweet, I would prefer they keep the sugar on the side maybe? All in all a very nice restaurant. Their deli next door is a must visit!
Denitely a really good cafe to stop for coffee. I had a quick cappuccino and it was the best I had in such a long time !!!! They have a small selection of desserts and a interesting menu on mains ! I love the decor , and on a cold winter day the sun shines in . I had the chicken mayo and It was good !!
I just love the atmosphere in this cafe - beautiful interior, a wide variety of dishes on the menu and good service!
For breakfast I had scrambled eggs, spinach and freshly baked bread, with an americano. They use Bean There coffee beans and you can get your refill at a lower price 😉
Great experience!
I am inlove with this restaurant! I took my friend out for his birthday and we had some lovely cake. I (of course) had the carrot cake, which was scrumptious! I also had a spicy gingel ale drink, I enjoyed every sip but be warned...this drink is not for the faint hearted.
Just had breakfast at the Carlton Cafe and must say the food was great, everything was fresh and the service was great. The only thing I could criteria was the menu's, they need to print new ones as ours was in a bad shape.
I did not eat a single thing on my wedding day. Except for the cake!!!
I know this may not be something they do as a rule but having been refered to them by a mutual friend as a favour, we wanted something different to the traditional wedding cake. We ordered two chocolate mousse cakes from them and without blowing many thousands of rands on our wedding cake they produced the most delicious cake I have ever tasted.
This is one of my favourite breakfast and lunch spots! Bean there coffee! Which is superb!! Excellent breakfast and lunch menu and you always get the same standard/ quality food!! Only critical point is our waiter could have been friendlier last time we were there otherwise its a winner place to go have a superb meal!
Best restaurant I've been to in very long, tasty food and great quality. I would recommend it to anyone...very impressed. Will definitely be having a meal here again in the near future.
Great food, great service. Rather difficult to choose anything on the menu as everything seems & looks delicious. We just had the hamburger( the best you will ever have) and a homemade lamb pie....delicious!!
Don't leave before you try the cheesecake or Oreo cake.
Went for a quick coffee and had their oreo bar which was delicious and compliments the coffee very well. They should perhaps give customers more options of the Bean There coffee beans.
So innovative and delicious! The breakfast I had there once was good, but not great. Then I had lunch there a few times... Wow! The different home-made syrups (especially the rosemary) for drinks are so refreshing and different. The sandwiches are filling and keep you asking for more, and the Marmite tart is scrumptious, provided you're a fan of Marmite. What a treat to eat here! The service is a little lackadaisical at times though.
If you keen on the Wimpy, you won't like Carlton cafe.
The best possible ingredients are used, swift service, innovative food that you will not find elsewhere.
Delicious breakfast, brunch or lunch.
On your way out, don't forget to pick up some of the yummie biscuits, cakes or biltong.
We will be back again & again.
This is probably hands down my favourite food spot in PTA!
The menu is amazing with a variety of interesting dishes and constantly changing specials!
Over the years I've made my way round the menu concluding that my favourite dishes are the amazing burger, Connie's Fried Chicken and pretty much everything on their breakfast menu (but specifically the savoury French toast with handmade pork sausages!)
This spot is a MUST in PTA and with the addition of the extra space next door to the restaurant you can pick up loads of goodies to eat at home, as well as cool gifts from Nataniel's range of products!
Fresh, delicious, and unique menu options. I had a great coffee and their BBQ Beef Burger. This place is always a treat and probably the best place to go to for brunch in Pretoria
What a lovely, little brunch spot! Truly delicious food and a wonderful ambience 🌿 I'm so glad we decided to try Carlton Cafe today. The service was a little slow, but the staff were very friendly 😊
My husband and I had the best chicken strips and potato wedges here for lunch. Staff is very efficient with good service. It is a bit expensive though.
As always the food is great but the waitress is very unfriendly. Puts a damper on my dining experience. Such a pity. Coffee is excellent and ambience great. Love this place!
Finding somewhere to eat breakfast at 7.30 on a Saturday morning is tough, but thankfully the Carlton Cafe opens super early! The food and coffee were amazing, but fairly expensive with most things on the breakfast menu costing over R80. All in all, it was a pleasant start to the morning.
Carlton Cafe , in Lynnwood. I had the best "melkkos" EVER ! The service was a bit slow , and the menu a bit pricey. But the food and drinks made up for it !
I have wanted to come here for a while now and this Saturday I finally got the chance to go and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is lovely, we sat outside and watched all the people going past. I can definitely see why it is called cafe delicious, because the food was really good and presented beautifully. We had a great time and will return again!
I always go to the Carlton Cafe when I'm feeling down because the food is just so good. I really love the Eggs Benedict and Savory French Toast on the breakfast menu, the Carlton Spicy Chicken Mayo sandwich on the lunch menu, the White Chocolate Blondie with vanilla ice cream on the dessert menu and the Granadilla Lemonade on the drinks menu. While the food is amazing, the service never matches up. It's often slow.
A really nicely put together place that makes the center it is situated in have so much more potential than it would otherwise. They have made it look really awesome and wish I could go there more often however their times are really bad. Hardly open on weekends and weekdays they close early.
The Carlton Cafe is such an awesome place! We had breakfast there for a bridesmaids meeting and it was absolutely amazing and nothing short of it! We experienced great service and an even better atmosphere :)
Never disappointed when visiting. Friendly, attentive staff. Mouth-watering, delectable dishes. And a very cool and hip environment. Sitting next to the herb garden, sipping on chilli chocolate and eating balsamic caviar strewn over my roast chicken salad is an absolute TREAT!

A smallish menu but those that appear seem delicious. Prices on a bit of the steeper side but you are paying for a quality meal. It would be nice if they considered staying open in the evenings. The type of food to expect is deli sandwiches and salads etc along with some lunch items and cooked meals.
The granadilla lemonade and chorizo toast are must haves! Very refreshing and totally delicious. The service wasn't the best though, but it wasn't too bad.
Fantastic service, great fresh food, outstanding setting, loads of atmosphere.. Friendly staff and menu is well put together with loads of various dishes to choose from
Having been to Carlton Cafe Delcious a number of times, I was looking forward to the yearend party of our Book Club to be held there on Sat. 6 Des '14. We were not disappointed!
The Cafe is situated in suburban Menlo Park, right next to Nathaniël's emporium of designer goods, with Wonen and an upmarket gift shop in close proximity. You can sit either inside or out. I should warn that there can be quite a din inside.
The food and drinks (non alcoholic) are of outstanding quality. Fine ingredients are used and presented in a fitting manor.
I had chosen, as often before, the Rachel Sandwich (Rachel is the chef/owner) It is warm pastrami (made on site), with caramelised onion and plenty of melted Mozarella cheese on toasted rye, garnished with gherkins. As accompaniment a small coleslaw is prettily presented in a little bowl. A delight to be had!
With no room for desert, I chose a sweet masala coffee, which I could not drink. The reason: far too sweet. I concede that it is called "sweet" masala coffee!
Service was prompt and smooth.
Also on offer are various baked goods and frozen prepared meals. Think Duck and Cherry pie and Lamb pie with dried pear to name just two.
Their catering service is completely brilliant.
We recently had a meeting at the Carlton Cafe, it is a really hip and happening side walk cafe styled coffee shop. One of my colleagues had the Anglo-Turkish ice tea - it was delicious and I had drink envy and wished I had ordered it. It was sweet, sour and fizzy - perfect combo. We didn't have anything to eat but the food coming out the kitchen looked divine.
