Review Turn 'n Tender Steakhouse - Pretoria

Kendall Rae
The meat is really excellent. Received a sizzling hot plate with rare meat on the side that I then warmed on the plate and got to the perfect medium rare that I like. Sirloin was soft and flavourful. Ribs were sweet and melt in your mouth soft and fillet is also totally worth it. Sides are a bit small but the quality of the meat definitely makes up for it. Very nice wine selection. They are quite busy on weekends so you will wait at least 45 minutes for your meal to arrive.

We had such a lovely dinner. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. Food was great!! Its a very refreshing feeling to get this kind of service, because these days it feels like just nobody cares anymore.

Enjoyed one of the best ox tail meals accompanied.ied with tasty creamed spinach , butternut and fried cabbage. Good friendly service. Good wine selection to choose from.

Wow! Great service from Irene and the quality of the food was in a class of its own. I am really surprised by this TnT branch. I have been to one or two other TnT's but this one just amazed me in every way!

If you are in the mood for a mouth-watering oxtail or t-bone, make a point of visiting Turn n Tender. The food is delicious and the service is amazing.

One of my fave places to go! The most beautiful steaks it just melts in your mouth! The oxtail is also amazing!!!

Excellent food, very good service, relevantly priced - wide selection and clearly experienced kitchen staff... Had a great evening hosting some of our international guests from around the world for an event this weekend (table of 20 in total), was evident that everyone enjoyed their time/meals...

It was a lovely evening with gooood steak!! Awesome place for a 'Date Night'.

I recommend this place. General impression; good location, lots of tables; option for outside, inside veranda, inside proper. High-end decor, quality finishing, open kitchen view. Menu, plenty options, especially steak with different variations, lean, with fat, more fat, more fat. Burger was awesome, medium rump with fat was great. The options with more fat was not so good, why? Fat was raw and not rendered at all, medium steak was more well-done but still great. All the meat was good quality and tasted great. For a Monday, we were 1 of 2 tables inside, we had to create our own tmosphere 🙂. Meal ended in disappointment with a yellow "scrambled egg" Creme Brulee, the caramelized sugar was nearly nonexistent. Don't order this, it is not really creme brulee. We asked for a cozy spot, but instead got the table in the middle of the restaurant, nearly on top of the till booth. We asked to move another table. The service was noticeably average, waitress was not unfriendly but also not friendly, it seemed like she drew the short straw. To be trained as a waiter and to be trained in hospitality service is two vastly different concepts, some restaurants get it right and in this case not. Evening was 3/5 but we give them 4 stars for our first visit, a second visit might surprise us.

TL, DR: Awesome place with a lovely atmosphere, knowledgeable wait staff and excellent food served on skillets to keep it warm. A little expensive, but worth every cent Turn 'n Tender has a beautiful aesthetic, from the lights to the benches to the menues, everything tailored to give a sense of quality. It has a great selection of wines and the wait staff(in our case Bongani) knew what wines to suggest pairing with which food items. After ordering drinks(which also includes Stella Artois on tap for the beer drinkers), chef Rupert brought a plate containing their three bestselling steaks(this is a steakhouse, after all! he would exclaim) and explained how each were to be prepared. Dinner is served on a skillet to keep the dish warm. After dinner, chef DX approached the table and proceeded to convince each of us which dessert to pick, all of which we really enjoyed. Right through the dinner, we were able to hear one another talking, and despite being seated next to the kitchen we weren't bothered once by noise from there. A lovely selection of music included jazz and tied a wonderfjl experience together. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Great value for money! Love the cosy atmosphere. The burgers were all made according to request!

Enjoyed it. Had a combo: pepper crusted sirloin with sweet chili and coriander calamari. Really good. Waiters were friendly and helpful. Good wine selection.

Was a fantastic place that I visited in special occasions. They have sadly closed this branch as I came in June 2023 as a Walk-in The restaurant has already vacated and the space is empty.

Wonderful steaks, service is good. And they have wonderful lunchtime specials.

Stopped by T ‘n T for dinner while hosting Finnish colleagues...

Food: Tasty ribs but small portion size. Fillet was well prepared. Lamb chops were dry.

Drinks: Pleased to be served Rusty Trigger. However, the cocktails were rather weak and “watered-down”

Ambience: Enjoyed the courtyard bistro vibes with neighboring restaurants

Service: Our waitress was very friendly and attentive.

The quality of the food has dropped a lot and the portions sizes are much smaller. Steaks are watery lacking flavor. Won’t be returning any time soon

Had supper at Turn and Tender Saturday, steaks was orderd medium rare and weldone, both steaks was over cooked, this is not what you expect from a "Steak House" restaurant.
Now I was infact at Turn n Tender Loftus, but I see they’re not on Zomato. ANY VEGETARIANS LOOKING FOR CURRY? THIS IS THE PLACE. I cannot explain how pleased I was with my vegetarian option whilst all the carnivores tucked into the R41 steak special. đŸŒ± the abundance of food that arrived to the table, in a potjie pot too, and retained its piping hot heat was beyond pleasing đŸ„‘ the flavors were beautiful and rich and I left more than satisfied with my plentiful left overs! 10/10. (Yes, I went back a week later).

So glad I finally tried this place! It was full on a Friday night & that always tells me a lot about a restaurant. First of all the service is great, from the hostess to the waitress to the managers, everyone was very friendly & helpful.

My husband tried the fillet with pap & sauce. He said it was “out of this world”. The pap & sauce were delicious & the steak was tender & done to perfection. He ordered a peri-peri sauce on the side but it wasn’t great. I tried the smoked mozzarella & biltong burger, with chips on the side, & I ordered the Jack Daniels relish/salsa on the side. The roll was fresh, the burger patty was tender (juicy) & tasty & the chips were good. Biltong & mozzarella topping (with a bbq sauce) were nice enough. I have to deduct points for the terrible “Jack Daniels relish” which was basically fried onions & garlic (no Jack Daniels??) & my patty which I ordered well-done (after I informed the waitress I am pregnant) was VERY rare.

There are a few other things on the menu I would like to try so I will definitely go back.

Went for a quick graduation dinner with some family and a few friends and we were given the most deplorable service by both the manager and waitress. It took atleast 15 minutes for the waitress to initially introduce herself to us, food took over an hour to come out ( this was for 7 plates of food), drinks also took a while to come out (none of the drinks were alcoholic so no actual preparation was needed like you would a cocktail). After complaining, manager made excuses for the waitress putting in our order late and changed the waitress but obviously this didn’t fix anything at that point. The food just didn’t go down the same after the manager and waitress made the problem they caused our fault.Second time here and first time I didn’t have such a good experience either so its safe to say that I wouldn’t recommend this place ever again to anyone

An afternoon well spent in an amazing restaurant with gorgeous views. I honestly cannot find anything to fault about this place, from the impeccable service to the scrumptious food. Our waiter Irene was very attentive and really helpful with regards to the menu. For the main course I had a rump steak served with roasted vegetables, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes, to drink I had a Long Island Iced Tea. The food comes in really large portions, I didn't even have room for dessert.
The place comes alive at night, especially the outside sitting area. I absolutely loved the atmosphere, it's perfect for a romantic date❀

Our usual Turn 'n Tender is the Boksburg branch.
Thoroughly enjoyed the ambience of this restaurant on a summer Saturday night.
The food was really good and well presented, my oxtail potjie was a huge portion and very tasty!

Nice location at Menlyn Square. Of course many meat choices. We went for the signature dish, a filet with creamy sauce and mussels. Unfortunately the mussels were not fresh. The filet was very good and tasteful.
Service was ok.
Alastair Waldeck
The steaks here are great, albeit a little pricey. The service was a little slow for my taste, however, our waitron was very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't go so far as to say its one of the best steakhouses around, but it is still very, very good. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the selection of drinks and steaks is excellent. Just be sure that, when ordering a steak on a skillet, that you order it one level lower than what you usually prefer (i.e. if you like medium, order medium-rare), this is because the skillet will continue to cook your steak while its on the table so if you order it the way you like it, then it may end up being overcooked by the time you finish it.

Overall, it was an enjoyable evening out, and will be returning again.

A place with a big rep..! And to be honest...the experience didn't live up to expectation at all!
Lets start with a bit of a positive...the service. While the service was decent for a big table, they did spill a bowl of boiling cheese sause all over the back of one of my friends.. But hey, accidents happen.
The real trainsmash was the food... Not one of the 18 diners on our table were over the moon with their food. I had the Tbone...ordered medium.. Got a 500g piece of charcoal instead!
In terms of value for money..they are lacking far behind some of their competitors close by!!
Atleast the look of the shop is quite good and promises a good time that unfortunately, never delivers.
Basically a glorfied spur...!
We had a large family lunch at Turn 'n Tender and I was left with mixed feelings. Firstly, the largest pro would definitely be the phenomenal service we received at the restaurant. The menu seems a little bit pricey, but does offer a large selection of steaks and meat dishes. Unfortunately, the definite cons would be some of the food quality. The biltong platter was alright, but had a "paté" that consisted of some ground up biltong in cream.

My main dish was good, except how the steak was cooked. I ordered a rare fillet and it was definitely served medium rare. Some diners complained about the steak being a tad but tough. This is definitely a large downfall for a steakhouse. I was also highly disappointed in the dessert. The crÚme brûlée tasted of soap and I found it inedible.

All in all, the restaurant didn't impress me, but it wasn't a disaster either. Except the dessert. The dessert was truly horrible. For the price, I wouldn't be recommending this restaurant soon.

Had a date night with my wife to celebrate her birthday. The atmosphere and food was brilliant. The service from reception by the hostess, the waiter Ernest and even the manager was completely cold and unprofessional. It felt like we we're served by the buss boy. This completely ruined the whole experience.
Kerry Anne Tapuch
We were seated rite by the kitchen and it was terribly noisy and warm but the food was quite good! The steak and chips came on a very warm plate so I would suggest getting your steak slightly more rare if you are not a fast eater as it does continue to cook after being served. When we walked in the service was instant and the food came extremely quickly but the after service was very slow!

Such a pleasant afternoon spent in their restaurant.. The waiter was so considerate and caring. As an individual who does not eat red meat the waiter went out of his way to ensure that I had something to eat.
I had initially wanted the trinchado but unfortunately they only served this with beef strips but after he consulted the kitchen staff I managed to get the chicken version of it.

I absolutely love the atmosphere and most importantly the cocktails 😄
Reinhard Nell
Pathetic service, waiters are absent and basically sloths. The manager is walking around but doesn’t seem to care about any patrons. The food quality is substandard, and a complete rip-off stay away.
Mathase Andani Mashau
Went there on a Thursday evening with a friend, had the American steak done caveman’s style with veggies on the side. The steak was massive and juicy. Veggies were also done really well, very soft and large quantities. The staff was supper awesome that night, the waiter we had had us laughing the entire night. All round I have to say a very pleasant experience would recommend this place to those haven’t tried it.

Turn 'n Tender has a nice ambiance and the food was great! I can always respect a place that makes my steak perfectly. My partner's mozzarella and biltong burger looked good as well. We left satisfied.

As a meat lover, I’ve been there lots of times but the service varies. Lacks consistency. Today it’s off the roof, the next it’s sloppy. Service staff need to be more self aware

Turn ‘n Tender never seem to disappoint. We try and visit this restaurant every few months and have always been happy. The menu is and specialities are always spot on and the service on-point. We tried the ‘Steven’s Sensation’ and was phenomenal. Sirloin cooked to perfection. We like the attention to the customer and how one of the waiters would walk around with the different cuts of meat to explain difference in flavour, texture etc.

First time visit to Turn n Tender and will be the last. We had snails as a starter to share and then for the main we had the Italian Fillet 300g & Greek Fillet 300g. Total of R630 for two people.

Medium to well steak coming out on a skillet without confirming with us, isn't great because the steak becomes tough by the time you eat it.

The BBQ sauce in a bottle had the consistency like it has been boiling in the sun and tasted a bit odd.

Gift who was our waiter didn't clarify upfront the extra cost for fillet instead of rump - but it sound like it was part of the deal. Offered onion rings and had to specifically ask if it was extra. He was extremely sales orientated which is great for the restaurant but will stop customers from returning.
R42 extra for a fillet steak instead of rump is quite high.

Highest bill paid for two people.

Out of 5:
Meal - 4
Service - 4
Overall - 3.5
Value for Money - 2

We had the Long Cut 800g sirloin topped with chimichuri... It was one of the best steaks I've had. If you go there try it (serves 2). The atmosphere is very commercial. They put too many tables in a small space.Would I go back again? If that meal was that great, I have to try the other things on their menu.
Hlayisani Sambo
Turn your meat on the grill to get tender. Add some veggies, sit down and relax, eat, repeat until happy. Warning: big portions available, e.g 700g steak cuts, only fit for carnivores.
Karishma Ramdev
It was a great restaurant. We really enjoyed our main meals. The portions were generous but the prices were also a bit higher than average so I'm glad that they delivered on portion size. I wasn't too impressed by their desserts. I felt like I didn't get my money's worth and my friend was not impressed by her bar one cheesecake.

I tried out rump-no fat with cream spinach, butternut and baked sweet potato. Not the best of steaks I have tasted. Lacked salt and the meat wasn't that tender and friendly on the knife. But the environment there is great as well as the service.

So we decided to go to a steak house for Father's Day.
Going to turn n tender was my idea.
We enjoyed the time we spent there and the food treatment.
I believe the white who kept on checking on us is the manager.
He was kind and brought me sauces.
The decor and ambiance are great but my only concern is that I don't think I'd like to go there if I'm super hungry because of the quantity of the food even though they taste nice.
Stefan Schrage
When you go somewhere and they do your meat JUST THE WAY YOU WANT iT!!! Awesomeness... normal run of the mill steak-house but boy do they deliver... Wine was good. The cutlery was clean and overall this was a great experience.. will go there again for sure..

I decided to take some clients to Menlyn Maine on Thursday evening. Since I have been to just about every place in the square except this one I was delighted when they chose this place. We didn't eat much thought lol but after two bottles of wine we ordered snacks which and they were delicious. Service was on par and I will definitely be back to try other options on there menu. They are reasonably priced as well.

I don't really know where to start. I've heard about T n T a couple of times. Tonight my girlfriend and I met her friend and decided to give T n T a go.

The restaurant has an amazing, chilling vibe. I had the Point Rump, my girlfriend had the Rump with Fat & her friend had The Argentinian.

My Point Rump, I ordered medium rare. When my plate came, the side of the plate was really dirty, full of finger marks & so oily. The meat was so tough, it was hard to swallow. My steak was more rare than medium rare. The chips wasn't nice at all, oily & not crispy.

My girlfriend's meal was just a tough as mine, she asked me to give my steak knife to her to see if its just the knife that's maybe a bit blunt, but no luck. There wasn't really fat on her Rump, just a string of white chewy (seuning).
@
Her friend didn't have any comments whatsoever, just that she wouldn't recommend it to her friends nor come back for more.

I honestly expected much more from a so called "Steakhouse". Mlre than just a bit disappointed.

Worst Meal Ever!!
Ribs came highly recommended at R275 for a full portion. We ordered it with a rib/chicken peri peri combo. The ribs were all off cuts and a disappointment. The chicken was not made as per order - peri peri. When we asked for the peri-peri we got a sauce but had to pay extra for it. Will never recommend this restaurant - highest bill paid for worst meal.

Turn 'm tender is a great place for a quiet dinner with a lovely vibe. This branch is in Central Square , at Menlyn Maine, and despite all the hype, we found that the restaurant wasn't too crowded despite it being a Friday evening.
The portions are fairly sized . Whilst the food isn't our of this world, it still makes for a great meal .
We experienced friendly and efficient service which was quite the delight.
I've been to Turn 'n Tender a few times now - during the day and in the evening, and there is such a huge difference in service! Perfect spot for dinner with prompt service and friendly staff, but unfortunately it's a different story during daytime. Their steaks are amazing (try the point rump if you're a protein-lover), but stay away from their salads. If you're looking for a steakhouse, you'll be happy, but don't expect more from this restaurant.

Went here for dinner soon after it opened. Friendly, efficient staff and excellent food in an intimate setting. Recommend it for couples and families. Will definitely be back.

The restaurant was very lovely, ordered both beef and pork ribs, one with a green salad and one with fries. The pork ribs tasted better than the beef ribs, the basting tasted amazing. Although the only negative related to the food was the green salad, the lettuce was not crunchy fresh, generally the salad was a bit soggy. All in all the deco, service and the vibe of the restaurant made the meal a bit more enjoyable.

Turn and Tender is a great restaurant in the new Menlyn Main area. The staff are very well trained, knowing their menu, recommendations, food and wine very well. Specially our waiter Robert who even decanted our beautiful Rupert and Rothchild classique. The food on the menu is very good with a great layout on the menu to show all the different specialities etc. We all ordered steaks, each different cuts, and all were exceptionally prepared. The prices are decent and the interior classic, delivering a beautiful ambiance making one forget you are only in the menlyn area. Will definitely be back!
Monique Kock
Loved the cosy atmosphere. Had amazing creamy snails for starters. And for mains we had the fillet for 2, steak was done to perfection, medium rare, staff was really friendly and service was fast. Really enjoyed the whole experience.

The last restaurant to test out in Menlyn Maine - and it was saving the best for last. Decor is slowly evolving, and so is the number of patrons. I was there for lunch.

I nice decent wine list and you can get most wines per glass, and have a few craft beers on the menu. i opted for a lite beer as i had to go to a meeting

I immediately spotted the steaks for two options - the bigger the more developed flavour ) we ordered the 700g Rump (R320 with 2 sides and 2 sauces) they cut the fried steak and it was perfectly done. The chips were good and the onion rings crispy

Food were served on a iron cast plate to keep it warm so def op for medium rare because you can still cook it further on your plate 😀

I will specify in future that they can split the two side between the plates.

Service was good, thanks Mike! Well done, wishing all the best and see you soon
Founded 4 decades ago by 4 brothers, Turn n Tender has perfected their menu to offer a good range of eats to all carnivores. Based in Menlyn Maine, this is a new restaurant, but with an old feel. The interior makes you feel like you entered Dad’s study but don’t be fooled
you are in for a treat. I am a sucker for the right lighting and ambience and loved this setting very much.

Their menus boasts wonderful meat dishes at a the higher end of the price scale, but most definitely worth it. Furthermore, they suggest a wonderful bottle of wine to pair your meal with. We enjoyed cocktails before hand and a wonderful Biltong (beef jerky) pùté before moving on to main course. I enjoyed a lovely 300g Rump steak, medium prepared with vegetables on the side. (I do like their onion rings a lot!!!).

Would I recommend this place? Yes, you will not be disappointed, the perfect spot to have a good night out, with good conversation and deliciously good food.
Cayman Sun
Sirloin a bit tough, but worst is waiters bumping into table frequently due to table configuration. They turned the lights up at 21:10! Is it time to go home?
@koormore
The food was amazing, just a smaller portion than expected đŸ€”.. the waitor however wasn't as best, kept forgetting things requested. Overall it's a good place, i'd go lunch there again.
Minnette Nieuwoudt
This is a carnivore's wet dream. The point rump served medium will make you rethink ordering rib-eye or fillet. Delicious!

Make sure to book a table and be aware that the place can get quite loud. I wouldn't recommend it for a quiet date night, but it is great for a lively dinner with friends.
Berno Verwey
The food was not bad, neither was the service. But my table wasn't asked how they wanted their meat done (rare, medium, well-done). As a meat restaurant that should definitely be asked, if not, the meat should not be served well-done. Unfortunately my piece of meat was quite tough. Better luck next time.

My mission is to try out all the restaurants at Menlyn Maine before the end of the year and so far, so good. This is my 2nd restaurant in 3 weeks.

I had dinner on a Friday night. As usual the place was packed but we managed to get a table inside.

I ordered the 200g rump steak with chips and mushroom sauce. The steak was delicjous and cooked to perfection (medium rare). The chips are fluffy with a bit of crispness. The sauce though didn't have that much flavour.

The place has a lovely atmosphere. Our waiter (Simon) was the best. Very attentive and patient. I took a look at their menu and they have alot of variety. Well priced, reminds me alot of Hussar Grill.
Lani Loves Good Food
We love trying out new places, and when the Central Square at Menlyn Maine opened, we were excited to try this new steakhouse! I looked at their menu on Zomato and was quite excited to be going here. Their prices seemed a bit on the higher end, but we thought that this would be an indicator of good quality food to come!

We had dinner there on a Thursday evening, a week after the mall officially opened. The restaurant was about half full, and this was after 20h30 on a weeknight. We requested a quiet table, our son was undertaking a marathon early evening nap which subsequently turns into an all-nighter. We got seated right in front of the grill, which was hot and quite noisy, but the evening was chilly out, so we decided to stay where we were.

As it was rather late and we had a difficult evening prior to arriving at the restaurant, we were very hungry. We placed our meal orders soon after sitting down. It did take some time arriving, but by the time it did, we were just thankful for food.

I ordered the 200g fillet medium-rare, to be served on the hot plate, thinking I could toast it to my liking upon arrival. My idea of a hot plate was somewhat skewed it seemed... I imagined an old-school, early 90's, Spur style "hot rock".

Big was my disappointment when my meat was served on a warm, cast iron plate. READ: warm to the touch, not even hot. My meat was very raw, still cold in the middle. After a few bites of cold meat, I decided to request a sizzling plate, as was promised on the menu. The next plate I was served was hotter and I could heat up my meat. The fillet was not matured and tasteless.

My side of sweet potato was just that. A chunk of unimaginative sweet potato. Bland and dull. On to my Camembert, Port and Cranberry "speciality side"/sauce. A rather pricey accompaniment, but it sounded good and I wanted to try it out. What I got was a slice of Camembert cheese, covered in berries with a very strong, overpowering taste of Port. The cheese was not even melted in the slightest. [I have ordered similar sauces at other restaurants, and this was by far the least appetizing.] Again, not at all what I imagined. My meal = great disappointment.

My husband had the Rump Espetada, which was dry, tasteless and not matured. His sauce tasted like it was poured straight from an Ina Paarman packet, and not even heated properly. [Don't get me wrong, Ina Paarman is a lifesaver and her sauces are good, WHEN you are at home and don't feel like making sauce from scratch. Not when you are at a restaurant and are expecting a fresh sauce that was made in-house.]

My mom ordered a chicken schnitzel which was average, nothing to report about. She had a side of sautéed mushrooms that was average, and visually was not very appealing.

Not once was there a manager at our table, checking on us, asking whether we were enjoying our food. Perhaps our issues could have been discussed and sorted out then?

These are possibly just teething problems for the restaurant...? But we will be thinking twice before going there again.
Marentia Van Kasterop
Turn 'n Tender as a steakhouse would normally not be on a vegetarian's wish list.

The venue has a cosy atmosphere with good quality furniture. The attention to detail is commendable.

We were pleasantly surprised as they actually have a few vegetarian options as mains.

We decided to order the vegetarian platter. The food looked appealing and the haloumi was the best we had in a long time.

The waiter was quite attentive and friendly. All round service was above average.

A really good experience and we will surely support them again.

Wilna Bester
We arrived at Turn 'n Tender gleefully after drinks next door, looking forward to a well cooked steak. It is a steakhouse straight from 1980 - dark & masculine decor, accents of maroon (napkins) and red (name in fluorescent lights). Wellcomed by the jovial Rosslynne, then handed over to friendly Irene, waiter no 2.
Starters were dismal. Izak's Biltong starter was a barren plate with 10 slices of biltong radiating from a sliced lemon - for R72. We're in the RSA, not in Japan!
The sauce of the Curried Prawn starter was over reduced, sharp and salty. On the menu it reads: "in a fragrant creamy curried coconut sauce, served with toasted french bread. The bread was soggy. What a disappointment!
Rudi, the manager came to our table to apologize.

We ordered our steaks with chili basting and take away for our children with barbaque basting. Those were mixed up.

On the positive side: the steaks were cooked well and were delicious & tender. Veggie trio of butternut, spinach & cabbage was good.

The onion rings are made from thinly sliced onions. Not to our taste but that's personal preference.
At the moment they are riding high becauce of the novelty of Menlyn Main, but should up their performance for continued success.
Not to everyone's taste
This restaurant is situated in Central Square, Menlyn Maine, and worth a visit!

Ambience: Steakhouse feel, clean, classic.

Menu: A wide variety is offered on their menu - there is something for everyone and even limited vegetarian options.

Price: Reasonable.

Service: Had a great waitress, friendly, attentive.

Management: In the nearly four hours at the restaurant no manager came to my table.

Food: Excellent. Steak was made to perfection, pepper crust was lovely, my plate was still sizzling as they put it down in front of me. Biltong carpaccio was also perfect.

I can definitely recommend this restaurant!

It was the first time that I tried turn n tender ever! Yes, that's what I rated it! 5/5 because it was so so delicious. The fillet I had literally could be cut with a butter knife! It fell apart and melted on tongue. Wow! This won my heart and got me trying out every turn n tender I see. The service is excellent and wow does it get full in here. The place is quite big and the manager actually cared about us. The waiters were pleasant. My partner in food enjoyed the ribs which fell off the bone easily. The wine was up to standard and was generously served. The cutlery, style, glasses and crockery all just make this place my new kinda spot instead of the pizza and wine vibe. I love it and I'm going to keep coming back ❀ oh oh, by the way the chips are horrible! I just remembered now. Please correct it guys 😘

Turn n tender. Always heard about the place and was so keen to try it out. This weekend with spur of the moment adventures we decided to try this place out and we're we disappointed? Absolutely not. As we entered we were directed to our table. I was a bit disappointed as the napkins placed on the table were a bit wet/damp. And the service was a bit slow and they weren't even so busy so I didn't understand that.

But now let's move on to the food and let's talk about how amazing that was. I had a full portion of ribs with chips and boy did I enjoy that. Like the basic BBQ basting was just so delicious and the meal comes hot hot on the pan so it retains the heat. The chips however are not exactly up to that standard, no seasoning, some were very crunchy, some were mushy, I'm not sure whether it's the oil they use of the potatoes or something but major improvements need to be made there. I then had some of the fillet which was absolutely gorgeous! It was so tender I could legit use a butter knife to cut the steak it was cooked to perfection.

Will definitely be back to explore more of this amazing place. The Pretoria Explorer

Top class food, had such lovely pairings, and a warm atmosphere. the downside though was you couldn't here your waiter but I believe that is because it's a new place and packed to the brim with customers will most definitely go again

Popped in over lunchtime to take a look at the new centre and the restaurants, which were open for service, was packed with patrons.
The service was efficient and friendly.
Food was great. Had the most amazing biltong-and-cheese Fuccachia (to share) as a starter and then opted for the salad option as a main course.
Will be back for that monster steak (#squadgoals).

Unpleasant experience! We ordered 2 x burgers to be done in the same way: Medium to Well. Burgers arrived - and the portions are huge - after a 45 minute wait. They weren't done in the same way, one was Medium to Well and other one Medium to Rare. Since we were starving we didn't complain. The burger patties were tasteless - great for kids. The spinach had sand in it and the manager "went to check" - we just didn't eat the spinach. The manager , Martin, did come back to say that he "told the kitchen to make a fresh batch" and it was left at that. We didn't receive any of the fresh batch and again decided that it was just not worth asking for the portion after our plates were cleared.Chips at this restaurant is the real life saver - they are double fried and a delight. The cheese sauce reminds of Spur's plastic sauce, not recommended. We felt unsatisfied and opted for a desert : the bar-one baked cheese cake. Cake was very dense and thick crusted - won't be back for it. Location is great - good place to meet up but for the expensive price range the value was sorely missed.

The excitement surrounding the opening of Menlyn Maine and the subsequent unveiling of new restaurants is exactly what Pretoria East needed. Yesterday my mom and I visited Central Square for the first time and after surveying the available eateries we settled on Turn 'n Tender. The 200g sirloin lunch special (for R65) caught my mom's eye and after some deliberation (selecting a lunch spot is rigorous work), we settled into one of their corner booths.

We were immediately greeted by our friendly waiter, who, at the risk of sounding fastidious, became a bit bothersome with his constant hovering. There is a fine line when it comes to heedful service. If it feels like the waitron is eating the meal with you then you're stepping into over-attentive territory. However, our food arrived in a timely fashion and my mom was thrilled with the temperature of her steak. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, albeit lacking in flavour. My mom's veggies were tasteless and my baked potato was ice cold.

I do understand that new restaurants experience teething problems, so it's likely that I might venture back for a burger or wine date.
