We booked a table for 6 and was shown to our table by friendly staff who were attentive throughout our time. The ambiance was created by a great view over the rugby field and really good quality music from "The Runaway Train Cult" . Perfect for a Sunday afternoon when there is a reluctance to have the weekend end prematurely. The majority of my companions decided on the "pub" menu of Lamb off the spit which was succulent and tender accompanied by a lovely potato salad and potato wedges which were also really nice and perfectly done. Suggestion would be to change one of the potato dishes for another type of vegetable. One of my companions decided to have the Tuna carpaccio when was lovely and fresh. The wine selection was fair and overall we had a fantastic afternoon. We will be back soon.
Great place to eat at a very affordable price. Old classic feel to the restaurant with enough privacy to be able to relax. The burgers as well as the ribs are fantastic.
Great food at n good price! Staff is super friendly, and always happy to assist. The prime rib on the bone with bone marrow is a must eat dish.
Best food in town at this price point never disappoints. My favourite place to have a fancy meal and not break the bank while doing it. Never had a bad meal at the harlequin

What a night! What an experience! Top class from beginning till end.Certainly the best choice we could make for our date night.
Nice ambience with clean and well-spaced tables giving each party of diners their personal space. Lighting and soft relaxing music in the background just perfect for a romantic dinner and drinks.
Fast, friendly and efficient service without being intrusive. Clearly summing up that we were there for a romantic night and in no hurry at all.
Food was absolutely to die for. Each dish freshly and perfectly prepared with the emphasis on flavour, without skimping on portion size or presentation. And my oh my! Everything was a culinary adventure leaving you begging for just one more bite!
And all of that without costing an arm and a leg. Some chain restaurants should be ashamed of their pricing compared to food quality and service when compared with our experience last night.

The best hidden gem in Pretoria. The food is spectacular (especially the chicken curry). The service is just as great and ambience too. Would recommend it to anybody in Pretoria. Definitely my favourite restaurant.

This place really surprised me! I was originally quite nervous because I thought it was part of Baracas which I wasn't too keen on, but when I saw they were completely separate I was quite chuffed! The service was fantastic! There were 20 of us, and the waiter managed our orders like an absolute gem!
I had the fresh Lüderitz oysters for my starter and they were great! Fresh, well sized (size ALWAYS matters) and delicious!!
The Creamy Garlic Snails was my main (I wasn't starving) and they were served in a phyllo pastry case which looked amazing!! I highly recommend this dish. The phyllo pastry case was a first for me - and I loved it! The creamy sauce complimented the snails fantastically!
I would say that I would order it again - however next time I'm def trying the Mussels starter & Smoked Salmon Ravioli !!! :)

I was here for dinner on Valentine's Day. At first I was a bit worried because there was an anti Valentine's Day Otty going on just next door but once you walked into the restaurant you couldn't even hear thing. It was quiet and calm.
I love the theme and ambience they had going on. The food wasn't amazing but it was good. The starter was a complete mess but mains made up for it. I'll definitely give this place another try. They have something good going there!
Went there with the intention to get a 3 course meal and got a very affordable and good 3 course meal! My only regret is that I ate too much but that's the price you have to pay for good food
Pleasantly surprised by this place. One would think it would be very 'pub'-ish, but situated next to the cricket green Harlequins is the perfect spot for a lovely sundowner. Their ambience is a Mediterranean mix and lighting just perfect. (I love places that have good lighting). Crisp white serviettes and tablecloths is a huge turn on to me. Their food was decadent and delicious! Try their Fillet & Mash. Well done!! Their selection of wines on offer is decently priced and the service was 5 star. I will recommend this spot to anyone who like an evening out on a 'stoep' having sundowners.

The first time we walked in, it felt like walking into an Old School steak house. subdued lighting, waiters attentive, well dressed and friendly. A brief look at the menu sold me on my option for the night (And every time I have been there since).
The menu though not expansive, contains enough that everyone will find something that they enjoy, the wine-list is well priced and everyone should find something there to enjoy with their meal.
Now to get to why I have opted to give a 5 rating. The first time we were there, the Prime Rib special caught my eye. It is served with Bone marrow and a Bordelaise sauce. What they do not tell you is that the beef is some of the best dry aged beef around. The dry age flavor coated my palate and was accentuated by both the marrow bones and the Bordelaise sauce instead of being drowned by it. This is the best steak that I have had in Pretoria.
I was hesitant to write the review after the first time going there as I have been ecstatic too many times just to be let down the next time. Consistency is poor it seems these days. Not so at the Harlequin. The second and third time I had the Prime Rib special again and both times it was consistently amazing. I find myself looking at the wonderful other options on the menu like Pork Belly but when it is time to order I can not help myself. I am compelled to request the Prime Rib, Medium Rare.

Nice vibe but the service is pretty slow! Took forever to get a drink and food! It could have been because we went before Mumford and Sons and it was pretty full. Chicken burger was absolutely delicious though!
We went on Valentine's Day and got spoiled with a glass of bubbly and red rose. The menu is delicious, varied and well-priced. Great vegetarian options and also some interesting venison meat dishes. Great selection of wine and craft beer, and the service is excellent. The manageress really goes out of her way for you. I had to give this 5 out of 5 because there is nothing I could rate it down on. I'll be back again - often.

Die diens vriendelik maar moenie haastig wees nie. Die wynlys is goed maar die duurder witwyne is te oud...die jonger wyne is vars en lekkerder.
Die oester starters was okay...maar nie vars nie. Een oester is teruggestuur en die kombuis het laat weet dit gaan 'n ruk vat om te vervang? Defrosting?
Die hoofgereg was lekker en maak die hele uitstappie die moeite werd.

Oh my gosh guy!!!!!! See my pics on this one. Chocolate fondant (the best in Pretoria)- a gooey, decadent dessert: a hot chocolate volcano with a molten middle chocolate lava oozing out-irresistible! ❤️The ice cream coupled with this made my taste buds tingle..And guess where we tried it? guys this is the one of the many hidden gems in Pretoria. Situated like literally 2 minutes away from the university of Pretoria and Brooklyn mall, I'm surprised people don't know about this restaurant. But oh oh oh, it is classic! White table cloths, wine glasses and outdoor seating coupled with an atmosphere sufficient enough for ME to take her on that first date!
The service above all is absolutely amazing. I've experienced service better than many 5 star restaurants I've been to. Thank you to the lady manager who went out of her way (I forgot your name) 😂
Next time guys, I'm hopefully going to try their chicken livers- rumour has it that it's the best in Pretoria! You think they'll live up to this? Well, let's see.. I will for sure come back. I've moved to Pretoria from Joburg recently and this is now my number 1 restaurant for that last minute date night arrangements. Great spot!
Lunch was very good. Peri peri chicken very suculent and the balsamic steak was perfectly cooked and appropriately sweet. The cheese platter afterwards was amazing, full of wonderful surprises flavours and textures, a good 11 out of 10. The malva pudding was very disappointing. Stay away.

Allthough Saturday evening was freezing and wet, we braved the foul weather and fortunately selected The Harlequin for dinner.
It was a wonderful choice - warm and cosy with smooth background music.
They served complimentary breadrolls (freshly baked, still warm) and butter.
To start I had Smoked Salmon Roulade - filled with steamed prawn, cucumber and mayonaise with citrus dressing.The filling was delicious - I would've loved more filling and less salmon.
Prime rib of beef - fantasic. The accompaning vegetables outstanding - precisely prepared in small neat bites and cooked to perfection. The Pork Belly was divine. We started eating as soon it was served and only then realised that pictures ought to be taken for Zomato. Mouthwatering.
The service from both Nene and the manager Sibs was faultless. Soft spoken, reserved and attentive.
Every single person in our party of 7 thoroughly enjoyed their meal. From tuna carpaccio and chicken liver starters to a new take on surf and turf as a main meal (pork belly and langoustines). The steaks were delicious and so was the veggies! Nice ambiance. Good service. What a lovely surprize!

Had a spontaneous lunch at this restaurant. I didn't know that it existed until recently. Service was spot on. The pasta I had was absolutely delicious and worth the wait. It's truly a hidden gem in PTA!
Extremely impressed with this place, staff is efficient and professional, good selection of wine and craft beer and the Prime rib bordelaise is probably the best steak I've ever had. Keep up the good work, I will definitely recommend this place to everybody.

What a beautiful restaurant. The whole white linen experience. The staff were friendly and professional but don't expect any drinks beyond the standard bar fare (no cocktails). Having said that, their wine selection is good.
The food we had was fantastic. The calamari starter was perfectly cooked and the sauce was fresh and creamy. The salmon roulade was equally tasty and the ravioli was one of the best I've ever had.
Our only disappointment was with the snails and although the phyllo pastry was exceptionally good....their sauce was a bit bland, especially when compared with the other sauces.
Overall a really good experience!
Lovely quiet atmosphere on a week's night. Being a regular visitor to the bar next door I finnaly gave this resturant a chance. What a pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent. The pasta was cooked to perfection. Prices are reasonable and definitely worth it. Would highly recommend.
Relaxed restaurant, liked it. The staff is friendly. They have booths to sit in which is comfortable, so if you book I guess you can ask for one. The food is tatsy, I had Fillet with blue cheese sauce.

Very nice restaurant at the old Harlequin sport venue. The food is really, really good. Nice setting. No noise. You must try their chicken liver starters!!! Pricing also wouldn't break the bank!
Good cuisine and service at reasonable prices. A great evening marred by the exorbitant charge for corkage on Champagne at R120.00 per bottle which was not conveyed to me when I initially asked and made the booking. I was told it was R65.00 per bottle and is also stated on their web menus.
I opened two bottles of wine for which R65.00 was charged per bottle and two bottles of champagne at R120.00 per bottle.
The explanation given was not satisfactory. To avoid spoiling what was a pleasant evening I paid the corkage.
In my opinion wine and sparkling wine both come out of a 750ml bottle so why the difference?

The restaurant offers good value for money. The dishes are generally well prepared, although some dishes are better than others. I would not recommend the calamari, however, the Harlequin Surf and Turf is excellent. The restaurant also has quite a good wine selection.

We went to the pub side of the restaurant. Fantastic ambiance, great pub food, large screen televisions to watch sport and an amazing selection of craft beers! What more could one want from a pub! I recon this is by far the best pub in Pretoria, on par (maybe even better) than Giles in Jhb. Loved it and can't wait to go back.
