Review Grounded At Echo - Pretoria

Truhande Kotze
Grounded has the tastiest food in the entire Pretoria! You can literally taste the love the food was prepared with in every bite. There is a wide variety of food and drink options on the menu to choose from - catering for most dietary requirements. An absolute hidden gem! We had the following and absolutely LOVED it!! - Almond Mocha Freeze - Kefir-Based Ridiculously Healthy Drink - Tall Cappachino - Kolkata Egg Wrap (Low Carb) - Grounded Benedict - White Choc & Cranberry Muffin

Loved it Great for breakfast! Friendly efficient staff and had an ordinary French Toasts, but prepared and dished up exceptionally well! Loved the pesto that came with the bacon and eggs Fresh and beautifully served
Jaqualine Cerveira
Delicious meals and drinks with a serene atmosphere. A perfect spot for a out of office work space or just to catch up with a lunch date. Thoroughly enjoyed the peanut butter milkshake!

Great local spot for breakfast, lunch or a quick coffee. Food always looks and tastes amazing! Lots of vegetarian options. The Vietnamese iced coffee is a must try!
Martin van Staden
Loved the atmosfere, food, service and convenient save parking, had the breafast croissant, and filter coffee which btw comes with a free refil, the eggs on the croissant was fluffly and lite, crispy bacon and garnished with rocket , came with 3 med sized roma tomatoes cooked in balsamic reduction Loved it!!!! Natural light with plants at the windows , outside as well as inside seating available, be sure to by some fudge, rusks, or cookies also note the leather goods ( situated in baskets around a colum) and coffee beans available with the freshly baked treats at the counter. Will definitely visit again.

Love this cute little shop, serving healthy and vegan friendly coffee and food. Lots of seating, free wifi for an hour, plugs for charging laptops available. Had the french toast with bacon and cream cheeseđŸ‘ŒđŸŒ absolutely delicious [R55] and a tumeric-latte. Great atmosphere. Also have take away and buffet options.
Natasha du Toit
Love this place since they've opened up. They use fresh ingredients, always innovative with their dishes. The coffee is constantly great.
Dumisani Tona
Homely laid back coffee shop. Uncomplicated corner shop setup where you just park and walk in. Breakfast cooked to perfection. Waitrons focused and on attentive. Business seems to have good socially responsible principles. Will visit again.

Coffee extraordinaire and tiny watercolour affectations stare with a grin and a nod at the best breakfast I have had in the Moot... ever. A roasted vegetable salad bowl with a couple of eggs on top and a shot of mouthwatering basil pesto which I liberated from my wife's breakfast plate. What a great way to start a Saturday. The tiny little ginger cookie men are my favourite of the bunch. This laptop-friendly coffeeshop has an associated coworking space operating during the week. They are very reasonably priced, and well-kitted for entrepreneurs and remote workers looking for a spot to plug in.

We had a wonderful time. Coffee for me and milkshake and Chocolate croissant for my son. Absolutely wortwhile to stop by.
Monique Lovelock
Oh wow what a change. Had the best chicken mayo sarmie. You have gained 2 more stars from my last visit 3 years ago and you deserve it.
Antoinette Claire du Plessis
I absolutely love spending time at Grounded at Echo! The service is great and the coffee is even better. My favorite thing on the menu currently is the Cream Cheese French toast with Bacon. And they don't skimp on bacon! Their Eggs Benedict is also amazing! #FiveStars #BrunchFave

Excellent food and drinks! Love the fact that Grounded is open for super early breakfast and that Grounded also has a remote work space just around the corner. Also cool that Grounded makes contributions to Echo houses from its profits.

One of the best coffee shops I've visited. Unbelievably welcoming and helpful staff. Excellent food at reasonable prices. The Vibe is very pleasant and I will definitely return and recommend friends to try Grounded at Echo.
Nkateko Mathebula
Food was good. Service was good. There is a co working space which is actually really nice. Excited to work through the menu. Will definitely be back. Not very big but if you can, sit outside, it's nice. Very well priced.
Chris Bosman
Great coffee and breakfast, generous portions and reasonably priced, pleasant atmosphere, will definitely be back again.

In love with this place! Recently went with my best friend for his birthday.<br/><br/>Food: Loved the breakfast (we had the Grounded Benedict & Calcutta Wrap); and the tasty hot drinks (Caramel Ginger Latte & Pink and White Hot Chocolate )<br/>Ambiance: Chilled and intimate<br/>Service: Waiter served us well (Letlhogonolo if I remember correctly)...such a sweetheart! Very proactive! I love their bow tie uniforms!
Pravani Kelderman
Bless my pregnant belly oh my soul! This Benedict breakfast is amazing (I added avo) ! And this latte! Wow! Killer combo - just do it! Yumm! My waiter Leonard was also super cool - dude wears a bow tie to work! #class

My sister and I decided to go do a park run in Pta one Saturday and because we were Banting at the time, it’s always difficult to find a place that can offer you something you’re allowed to eat. She remembered a friend telling her of this place, so we though why not?<br/><br/>If you’ve never been there you might miss it crossing the street, but once inside, it’s a whole new vibe. We sat at the window, ordered the Banter’s breakfast and just had to take some photo’s for the gram 😉 The food was really nice, my coffee was alright (but hell if you like it strong, you’ll get it here) <br/><br/>It’s really a lovely place. Affordable. Aesthetic and a definite second visit! <br/><br/>(P.s. I lost my photos, but trust, it was beautiful đŸ„°)
Nic
We had breakfast at this hidden gem. Friendly service and outstanding food! Every dish was innovative and perfectly prepared. My smoked trout & avo tickled my tastebuds and were outstanding! <br/><br/>Can't wait to come back for lunch.

So I finally got myself here. I’d been eyeing this cafĂ© for the longest time but just had never gotten an opportunity to make it to Villieria. It’s a small space with a warm industrial like feel. You can definitely get your work on there while you sample different items on their menu. <br/><br/>I had a not so great butter croissant. It could have been fresher and more flavourful. They also have other pastries that perhaps fare better. We ordered two salads, the Summer Salad and the Asian Pork something something. The latter was a huge disappointment: it was too vinegary and the pork was hardly detectable. The Summer Salad was actually great. It was delicious and all the ingredients worked well together. I think maybe giving it a bit of moisture would take it from great to memorable and make it the star salad.<br/><br/>I think this place is cool. The ambience is diggable and the management are friendly and attentive, as are the rest of the staff. However, altogether, the food was a little underwhelming.
Christine Vermaak
A lovely little place. Just a pitty that when you ask for a cortardo you get a latte! This is supposed to be a “specialty” coffee place but they don’t know what a cortardo is!?

2018 made me a regular at this place since I moved to a house just up the road!<br/><br/>Good food, superb coffee. Creative interior, and always a warm atmosphere. I often go there to do some work. The one waitress, Princess, and I have come to know each other and it is always a joy seeing her. She always makes the effort to greet me, even if she’s not serving me...She’s awesome. <br/><br/>The only point lost here is because of the one waiter. My visit is half as pleasant when he’s waiting on me. He always seems disinterested, and very annoyed when I ask him if I can order something (emphasis on ASK as he rarely checks up on me...have to wave him down and I feel like I get an eye roll when I catch his attention). I feel like an annoyance to him....and that’s saying a lot because I consider myself an easy customer in comparison to many. <br/><br/>Either way! Doesn’t take away the many good things about this place. I will be back again...and again and again and again :-)
Lorraine
This is a super gem in a very busy street. If you don’t know about this place you wouldn’t even think twice of going inside. BEST smoked chicken salad which I have ever had, even better than my own salads!!!! Only reason I am deducting two whole points were that they were drilling at the door while we were having lunch inside. Made it very hard to hear anything my friend had to say and also the tables are too close to each other..
Chelseaaghachi
Had an amazing Tropical Tea, served in an aesthetic tea pot. True to it’s name this light purple beverage had a sweet, fruity taste to it - that was absolutely fabulous. Accompanying my warm delight was a croissant. Was a bit disappointed with the hardened texture of it. But overall, the ambiance and aesthetic looking servings saved the day!

Don't be fouled by the bad reviews. This is a special place that does more then just food. They are heavily involved in the community and have a upliftment programme for young south africans . Their food is amazing, defiantly value for money. This coffee shop stands above the rest in the area. Service is great with waiters always polite and friendly. Why not send your money were you can get great food and know that it is going to a amazing organisation.
Susan Burger
Absolutely delicious food. They put twists on traditional dishes that enhances the taste.<br/>Found out today that they do a harvest table (see pic of today's) every week day from 12pm.<br/>Delicious

So.. yesterday Mother craved her favorite carrot cake..<br/>We took the drive to the Moot. Stopped by at a good veggie shop, got some seedlings - all on the way to Grounded @ Echo. It is great what's happening in the suburb - an almost little Woodstock vibe "in die middel van Pretoria".<br/><br/>A month or so ago I went there to get the highly recommendable individual koeksister cheesecakes as take aways for a function - only lemon ones were available 😏. Not half as good as the koeksister one's! Thus, I was holding my breath for mom's expectation for carrot cake. <br/><br/>Every time I walk in there, the vibe surprises me. There's this energy of any City Bowl "get-your-coffee-in-a-hurry-or-a-slow" trendy outlet. The mom's and their tots, the few slightly geriatric clientele (oh my word, is this politically correct?) and the hipster students (most probably from the Tuks Medical campus) all brings together what I may call Afrikaans-towards-cosmopolitan. <br/><br/>Service as always very good, friendly and efficient. Products always fresh. We had our favorite Grounded coffee - highly recommended. Mom had her carrot cake. It is indeed the best in town. It's dense, moist, equally nutty and fruity and "vegetably" - and has the perfect balance in terms of icing. <br/><br/>What has always impressed me at Grounded is their options for the healthy eater. There's options to upgrade any menu item to gluten free; banting friendly; low or zero sugar and they also have milk alternatives. It is a lovely, creative menu. <br/><br/>In short, one of the best bakeries in town. One of the most thoughtful menu's for healthy eaters or eaters suffering from allergies. Lots of creative energy. Alive - the vibe. Street front charm.<br/><br/>Ps: I could not resist taking something home. It was between banting rusk and ginger cookies. The latter won! They are little little mini cookies - the cutest things on earth! Portion wisdom - thank you Grounded!<br/><br/>Ps ps: check out their online shop.
Patrick
Not my favorite place. The decor looks good, food tasty but the service is terrible. The value for money is definitely no where to be found and they are really over priced. Won’t be visiting them anytime soon again.
Kirsten Ashleigh Rowe
Thank you Grounded at Echo. One of the best sarmies I've had in a while! The vegan kickboxer was an absolute treat and the Moot BLT looked just as good. Our waiter, Kate, was professional, kind-spirited and took really good care of us. A grounded & well-rounded experience. Nothing pretentious about this hidden gem and a definite addition to any foodies bucket list!

Grounded is a wonderful little cafe in Riveria. The overall design of the space is great - the use of pallets and exposed wood contribute to an eco friendly environment. <br/>The coffee shop has a great long table which allows for you to be able to work.<br/>A friend and I had breakfast there - they don't have an extensive menu, but the options provided are sufficient and healthy. <br/>The service was good - with the exception of a waiter who placed a mug at random on my friends plate and disappeared. <br/>The only downside to this place is the lack of space.
Modderbek
The best coffee shop in the Moot area, and very high on the list in Pretoria. I also recommend this place if you're freelance and want to get some work done - wifi is good and the coffee hugs your soul. If you want to enjoy their breakfasts, I recommend the Banting one - not because I am particularly into that diet, simply because it's delicious and filling. You'll also find a variety of freshly baked goodies, the quiches are delicious and the muffins are the perfect snack.
Adri Wolvaardt
This little hidden gem in the heart of the Moot, is perfect to grab a coffee or light lunch. <br/><br/>They create a prefect atmosphere, even though at first I was hesitant about the location. <br/><br/>A perfect, wifi, student, scene.
Mieke Oelofsen
A true Pretoria gem! My turn to pick a surprise coffee spot for my partner, and he was delighted. The menu is amazing and the food lives up to their mouthwatering descriptions. The coffees are absolutely divine, and have I mentioned the salted caramel tartlets?! Exploring the different menu options could become a bit pricey, but it was worth every cent. The service is good, without the constant nag one gets in a more fast-paced establishment. My partner was in writer heaven typing away on his laptop with a decadent late at hand. What's not to love?!
Melt Van Der Spuy
What a lekker place with such chill vides. I would definitely recommend going there i you have either nothing to do, looking for a relaxing coffee place or just somewhere were you can work with a coffee. I hade the cafe mocha with a grounded brownie and it was amazing! Ps the little ginger man that comes with the coffee is the cutest and the best tasting little ginger fella i have ever had!
Milan Philip Olivier
Great coffee, friendly staff. I'm a Tuesday regular. I love the fact that they promote creative talent from the area and you get that wonderful sense of community as you sit down and take in the space. The only negative is that I'm bored stiff with the menu. Need to keep it fresh.
Johann Willem Meintjes
Parking tends to be a problem; service is getting slower and don't try ordering a quiche in the morning almost never ready for breakfast. Sitting outside traffic noise really loud and inside tends to get to warm
Tiffany
I've been to Grounded @ Echo twice now to sit down and eat. Both times I've been disappointed and frankly quite irritated. <br/><br/>The first time; I was so excited to come here. I had been planning it for weeks and I eventually got the chance to come in and sit down. I was greeted by an unfriendly waiter who looked like he had better things to do than to serve me and gave me the impression he was doing me a favour by even bringing me a menu. After that; I was left to ponder my choices of food for more than 15 minutes without so much as a glance from any waiter. Eventually my coffee arrived and while I was busy on my laptop, working. The waiter decided now would be a great time to pry into my personal life. He persisted in asking personal and inappropriate questions about me; when it was clear that I was preoccupied. He stood in front of me, leaning on a chair and asked me why I was so irritated. I'm not sure if I'm the only person who does not wish to divulge aspects of my personal life to a stranger, but I found this entirely inappropriate. <br/><br/>After a Grounded Inquisition and a lifetime of waiting, I eventually received my breakfast. I ordered the Banting Breakfast and the Coconut bread. Again. I was let down. The portion size in relation to the price was inadequate. My eggs were also served cold. (There is nothing worse than cold eggs). The coconut bread was especially disappointing. I received two if the smallest, thinnest slices of bread I have ever seen. I don't feel the quality of food justified the cost of it. <br/><br/>Possibly the only redeeming aspect of Grounded is their coffee, which is delicious. <br/><br/>On my second visit; I sat down and ordered a cappuccino and a glass of water with ice and lemon. The waiter pointed out the water holder and said "There it is. There is your water". I found this extremely rude and I am of the opinion that if a customer requests something of a waiter, the waiter should be willing to provide it. Even if it is freely available. <br/><br/>Overall, the attitude of the staff irks me the most. I found the personnel that I have dealt with are condescending and resentful that they have to serve you. I've popped in a few times to get a takeaway coffee and there is often no one at the front and I've had to wait more than 10 minutes for anyone to show up. I find their manner in dealing with customers offensive. Maybe it's just me. But bad service really does play a huge role in my impression of a place. <br/><br/>It was fine to pop in for a takeaway coffee but honestly... I'm considering now if it's even worth it to get takeaway coffee anymore.

Good value for money breakfast ( bacon was best I have had at a restaurant for some time), coffee good and hot. I like the vibe and the service was excellent. Will go back<br/>

Absolutely love this place! First came here at 6am and had a huge absolutely delicious breakfast. Best thing to start the day as a teacher! Followed by a strong cup of cappucino for the road 🙂 Well priced and the staff are super friendly. Their Sandwhiches are special and very filling and their desserts are fresh and keep your tummy smiling. <br/><br/>Glad I turned into grounded at echo 🙂🙂
Lawrence Magubane
Did I just have the best cappuccino in the whole wide world? 💃💃💃 you definitely need to give Grounded at Echo a try! The staff are super friendly! Love it!
Linda Prinsloo
This was such an amazing little place to visit, with the friendliest staff I have met in a very long time. <br/>The menu is very inventive and I will be sure to return for some good food! We had coffee, and it is was defintely up there with the best. I absoluely love the vibe and atmosphere- might be a new favourite spot!

Was a "omw there's Grounded" moment when we were driving past it. Made a quick u-turn so that I could run in for a take away. Just had time to grab a coffee and a muffin. The coffee was soo good and the muffin also very tasty and packed with raisins, which Ioved. The staff is super friendly. The cafe has a nice vibe and I can see why the ratings are so good. Can't wait to go back and try their food.
Dirk
One word...yummy. Little gem with delicious sandwiches and breakfasts, great milkshakes and drinks. The vibe is great and intimate. But best of all is the story behind the shop...the great work being done for people in need of a support base or just a bit of love. Awesome keep it up. Oh and the brownies...WOW
Sasha Stroebel
I love Grounded. The service is always friendly, not always fast, but if I wanted fast service I could just as well make myself a cup at home. The food is always lovely. I love the eggs Benedict. Always fresh, coffee is delicious and staff seem to be like a little family!!! Will definitely be back. Soon. Often!!!
Louis Le Roux
Love it, love it, love it! The Moot is catching on fast!! Great food, lovely atmosphere. I was looking for a place like this close to home where i can spend my Saturdays having breakfast and I found it. Thanks guys.
Johan Ferreira
Been here a few times, the coffee was good as always.I didnt really enjoy the food that much.It is a nice place to sit and work, they had free internet but seems to have changed.

This is a cosy hidden gem... And thanks to Zomato I found it! Very cute and quaint restaurant ;) the decor, the food and the service was really great! I ate the Budget breakfast which was lovely and my family ate the Grounded Benedict ... The lemon water available for your own pouring was lovely and it overall was great value for great quality ;) thank you

Awesome Friday Jam at Grounded, entertained by CH2. 😬 Excellent coffee and well presented tasty cheese & bread platter. Book well in advance to avoid disappointment!

A typical quaint neighborhood coffee shop situated near a street with a pleasant "hometown" atmosphere. This little place is an absolute gem situated in the Moot area! Coffee is fantastic and food is absolutely scrumptious! The place is quite tiny so in order to receive a table, be sure to be either early or patient. The staff aren't exactly the most attentive and tend to favor the regulars, as I was giving the order to my waiter and he cut me off to great a familiar face. Then again, that isn't always negative because it promotes the community, welcoming vibe to the place. The brinjal in my sandwich could've been a bit more flavorsome as it was quite bland, but other than that, the food was Devine!! Will defs be back!

I am still in awe after our trip to Grounded. The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming and warm, and the restaurant itself was tastefully decorated. <br/><br/>A beautiful spot to take the afternoon off and enjoy tasty meals that are unique in many ways. The sandwiches are to die for, and affordable, too! We tried the fried marrow and bacon salad, and the grounded veg sandwich. <br/>And we definitely could not leave without treating ourselves to something sweet! We thoroughly enjoyed our choices of the chocolate brownie and koeksister cheesecake. Anna Potgieter

Grounded is lovely! It has such an attractive, cozy environment. There are blankets available on most chairs to snuggle up and play the available games such as pick up sticks and black gammon. The staff are friendly and helpful. The provide a free Zulu lesson on Monday nights which my sister attends, and loves. <br/><br/>Unfortunately, I only had a coffee here but I will be sure to go back and take some pictures of the delicious food I eat there!
Meet & Eat
We love discovering quaint restaurants (with good coffee) out on the town! Lovely place with great sandwiches and again, great coffee. We will definitely be returning soon to taste their milkshakes - hear that it is out of this world.
Shané Bloom
A few friends and I went to this cute little shop for my bday last year. We were so impressed that i had to take my work colleague there yesterday as we were in need of a good coffee and cake. The coffee was great as always although a little cold as it took our waiter some time to bring.the cakes did not look that tasty but the carrot cake was divine . We shared a piece as well as the cheese cake but was told its a day old. Understandable that they cant bake everyday but it would not hurt. I will def go back hoping to have some fresh cake and coffee. The waiter disappeared and we had to wait 15 min to pay after we ate. Still a good place to go just don't be in a hurry!

Without a doubt Grounded At Echo makes the best coffee in Pretoria, but that's just one part of what makes this community-centred coffee shop exceptional. <br/><br/>The staff are extraordinarily friendly and helpful. They'll greet you with a smile on your first visit and by name the next time you come in. <br/><br/>The menu is simple but fresh and delicious. Although the sandwiches and drinks are delectable it's their bakery which really stand out. Their dark chocolate and pistachio tartlets have my mouth watering just thinking about them. <br/><br/>There is always a good buzz around the tables and some interesting music in the background. This makes Grounded the perfect location for anything from a lunch with friends, to lazily reading the morning papers, to a place to catch up on emails. <br/><br/>This cafe has a very strong sense of community identity and spirit. They have become a key hangout in the neighbourhood and offer free isiZulu lessons on Mondays, live music on the last Friday of the month, and interesting talks every now and again. One wall serves as a gallery, showcasing interesting local art. <br/><br/>Grounded at Echo is a must-visit for any Pretorian and a staple hangout for any Moot local.
Isabella
Always a great experience. We are usually about 12 people at the long table and we never wait more than 15min for our food. Their menu is also delicious with something for everyone. The only complaint I have is that the For Goodness Shake is very small for the price you pay. I realize that almond...
Merle Potgieter
One of my favourite places to eat. I have never been disappointed and it makes me feel the joy to come here. The food is very tasty. Njammie njammie njammie

What a neat little spot :) friendly staff, very accommodating, cute corner cafe vibe, and good coffee. Free wifi is a bonus. I'll be sure to munch something next time because it all looks so very tasty. I'll be back!
Ricardo De Freitas
Have awesome food at reasonable prices, really great chill spot to start your day or take a break. Sunny D sarmie was fresh and tasty. Enjoyed the message that you see as you walk out, definitely left a great impression of a positive establishment making things happen. Great stuff!
Philippa
Had a delicious cranberry chicken sandwhich and a yogurt shake. Perfect place to go and study if it feels like the walls of your room are closing in. Friendly and quick service.
Claudia
Best coffee spot in Pretoria, and for some reason a very well kept secret. I'm surprised that there weren't more people flocking to this little gem!<br/>Their sarmies are to die for! So rush rush rush!
Wessel Pretorius
A wall filled with #moot postits and a menu filled with a foodies dreams. Grounded is on my top 3 for places to go to, if you are looking for something to drink. Mark Pretorius

Fantastic absolutely fantastic, the place was buzzing packed to the rafters yet the service was fast and effective. Peanut butter milkshake and Frozen Mocha coffee where out of this world. The chelsea bun fresh warm and very moreish. Will definitely visit here again. The food on the menu also looks good and inventive.
Conradiejaro
Great place to grab some of the best tasting coffee around! The food is maybe a bit expensive but the vibe is great and has a cozy feeling.
Cbpaul87
Best breakfast to hit The Moot. Fresh and inspiring with an almost enduring attitude to food.<br/>Plain, simple and as uncomplicated as a Saturday morning breakfast should be..... Pretoria..... This is your next breakfast stop
Miranda Van Zyl
Easy going hip coffee shop with a good value for money menu and friendly vibes. Definitely the perfect place to just cool down and relax a bit with friends and a Cup a Joe during a tough day.
Reinard Bekker
Delightful place. A hub of muse and contemporary thinking all stirred into one.
Marlene Raubenheimer Van Rooyen
Waiters needs a bit more training, but i Love this place! Great vibe, awesome coffee, lovely salads and sarmies. Authentic and cool respite from the bustling city.
Alet Fell
This is a real neighborhood, local coffee place with good food and freshly baked pastries. We're not from "the Moot" but drove from Centurion to have brunch at Grounded. It was worth the trip. There are not many tables and we were lucky to find a spot. I loved the interior and the coffee. For brunch I had the breakfast croissant and my husband had a croissant with bacon and cheese. Both were delicious and I can really recommend their croissants (freshly baked). We'll be back to try the salads and sandwiches.
Mark Pretorius
Very nice atmosphere. Milkshakes are great. Coffee also tastes nice. The staff makes you feel at home. Tge decor is also appealing to the eyes.
David Leibowitz
Lovey coffee shop in Pretoria with good coffee and an appealing menu of sandwiches and pastries. Great atmosphere to work in with wifi and eye candy!
Megan Martin
A lovely hidden nook off busy Pierneef. Fantastic service. Gorgeous rustic decor. Perfect for a quick cuppa with a friend in the afternoon. <br/><br/>I had the BLT on rye with basil pesto, cheese, aioli and beautiful homemade pickles. A good sandwich although I wouldn't recommend it on rye as it was incredibly difficult to eat, maybe the bread should be toasted? <br/><br/>And for the ultimate test: would I order it again? No. Unfortunately I don't feel it lived up to the price tag. But that may just be the frugality talking.
Monet Molman
Absolutly amazing experience today! Friendly service, cosy atmosphere, the most delicious cranberry sandwhich i have had in a long time! Will defenitely be back soon. I loved it! (Oh and it was so inexpensive, which is another bonus) :)
Martie Vosloo
My favourite place besides home. Its absolutely awesome, the food and the vibe. Also love the Friday night live music. Definitely a place to check out
Cheryl Von Solms
To me this is the coolest little place in the area. The decor is absolutely awesome, from the industrial style windows and the cool furniture and plugs hanging from the ceiling for customers to be able to plug in their laptops. Their coffee is amazing, you can even buy the beans. The Chicken Cranberry & Cream Cheese sandwich is to die for. Also noticed a poster on the wall advertising free Zulu lessons on certain nights of the week, which I thought was so cool!
Liza
What a lovely unexpected little place! Atmosphere is warm with excellent service. Breakfast eggs benedict was the best I ever had! Look out for the touch of lemon(?) in the sauce its makes your tastebuds all go giddy!! The coffee the best in town. All and all great place, service and food. Cant wait for an open Saturday morning to escape again!y
Inge-Marie Kleynhans
My husband and I LOVE good food and spend most of our time dining out. We found a little gem in Pierneef street, Pretoria ... GROUNDED ... and we have been there numerous times! The relaxed atmosphere and pet friendly spot outside is the perfect place to relax on a Saturday morning. The Chicken cranberry toasted ciabatta sandwich is my new favourite! We would also recommend the butternut salad, BLT toasted ciabatta and the fresh croissant with jam and cheese. We are looking forward to our next breakfast there on Saturday after our puppy training session 💚
Natali
Good coffee, great atmosphere and free wifi! Food is fresh and not expensive. Open from 6 am for takeaway coffee. Good place to get work done!
Grant Williams
The best thing about Grounded is it's location. Situated next to a petrol station, on a road which can only be described as busy! The second best thing is that it opens at 6 in the morning so that passing traffic can stop and enjoy what I found to be the most amazing coffee, and selection of freshly prepared food. It seems that establishments run by young, enthusiastic owners are becoming extremely successful, and that is always good! The BLT is absolutely amazing, and is worth travelling for, in fact the restaurants in the old East are, in my opinion, becoming predictable in their offerings, so put Grounded in your Waze, and go and find a place which may just become a habit.
Nadia Els
Great atmosphere and great cuisine style food and drinks !!<br/>Friendly staff for days !! <br/>A must have - their coffee milkshake and croissant with jam and eggs .
Nita Kleynhans
Best BLT on toasted ciabatta in town!<br/>Lovely laid back atmosphere where you can sit at a farmhouse size wooden table enjoying excellent coffee. <br/>Inspirational be served the food prepared by the enthusiastic young owner-couple. <br/>This little place is a gem and I have been back time and time again, not dissappointed once.
Nadja Louw
Grounded is a great neighbourhood coffee shop, it has an intimate and laid back atmosphere and good coffee. I have unfortunately had two instances where my croissants were stale, but the breakfast panini and tapas platter i had recently made up for it. The staff is very friendly and helpful!
Alessio La Ruffa
Grounded is my home office away from home and is one of the best things to happen in the Moot in Pretoria. I love walking in, seeing a shop full of people and always bumping into someone I know there. The staff know me and know that I'm going to order a flat white, before I even sit down. Highly recommended.
Adriaan Louw
Grounded at Echo is the epitome of what a coffee shop should be. It is the kind of place where you walk into an atmosphere which forces you to reconsider your 8 to 5 job. No wonder creatives, students, school kids and retired people a like flock there throughout the day. The free wifi and large table with power outlets does not hurt either in pulling a regular crowd. <br/><br/>They serve a mean flat white which is seemingly scarce in Pretoria and the cakes which vary daily are all out of this world. The owners are very hands on and it is hard to not become friends or be pulled into a conversation about the Moot and its potential. <br/><br/>Keep an eye on their Facebook page and events wall in the shop as they have regular evening functions ranging from live music to exhibitions. These evenings go hand in hand with great food platters and equally good company. <br/><br/>They have a very good corner spot with parking in the back and I think Grounded at Echo is the kind of catalyst which the Moot has been waiting for.

Grounded at Echo. What a great place for something sweet to eat , and great coffee to drink. I had the chocolate brownie, and it was delicious! Love this place!

A neighbourhood coffee shop but worth visiting from afar. My snack sandwich portion was generous, what I would judge adequate for a regular sandwich portion.<br/>It tasted fantasticly fresh. The ciabatta crispy on the outside, inside soft with just the right touch of near oily springiness.<br/>Fresh chunks of avo, cherry tomato, and cheddar cheese. I ordered the basic snack sandwich and added avo and aubergine pickle. The aubergine elevated the bliss factor. It was incredibly delicious.<br/>Wonderful freshly pastries are available. I took home an individual cheesecake with a koeksister buried inside -delicious surprise and the combination of creamy lemony cheesecake and syrupy sweet koessister worked wonderfully well. <br/>Cappuccino was good but on the brink of cold though not yet. This could be remedied by preheating their cups.

We had my Mom's 60th birthday breakfast here. This is such a nice, down-to-earth place with the right amount of attention paid to the right amount ot detail. Their food and coffee is really amazing and they also have banting-friendly options. Also, the brownies are out of this world. Go and see for yourself.

Im not eating starch so it seems as if there are few no starch options. The decor is trendy. I could lounge there for a few hours. I love that they are open very early!

This is the perfect place to pop in for a coffee with a friend or even have a lunch. I love the vibe. The food is good quality and very tasty and the best thing of all... They have free wifi, which is great in today's day and age. Please do yourself a favour and pop in for a quick lunch. I recommend coffee and croissants, it is super tasty and just big enough.

Went to Grounded for the first time, and i was pleasantly surprised. Service with a smile, and the shop setup is great. Their BLT sandwich is delicious, and well priced for the portion!

Have the Vietnamese Iced Coffee - absolutely delicious! The cheesecake and brownies (watch out, they contain raisins!) are superb. Sit outside, enjoy the friendly service on a busy street. Grounded is a gem in its surroundings.

I have been to Grounded a couple of times now and I absolutely love the space. The ambiance is really nice with people chatting over coffee and lots of guys coming in to work. The coffee was good. I have not tried their food yet but it all looks very delicious. What I like most though is that the owners are there all the time and they are such lovely people. They really make the place great. *Update: just had a breakfast at Grounded. Absolutely delicious. Their take on the Eggs Benedict was surprisingly good. Absolutely love this place.

I like the vibe with it being next to an old petrol station. Busier than I expected it would be, especially on a Monday afternoon. Pleasantly surprised ?
