When I tell you this is some of the best calamari Iโve ever had, I donโt know what it was about it but I would recommend them in a heartbeat. I also had the fish and prawns platter. Honestly this appetizer and platter could have fed two, and at this price point, it canโt be beat. I highly recommend this for lunch or dinner.

What a great experience... The food deserve a 5 star ๐ was amazing and the Appletini was nice and sweet, the staff awesome people... however the let down has always been the seats. Or the interior theme of Ocean Basket. I think the Brand needs to change their interior design theme, those chairs are not comfortable, even if we get the sitting cushion. The back rest is still wood...

We arrived at 9pm, and the kitchen was closed but the manager said we were welcome to stay! We ordered grilled calamari and a sushi plater. The service was prompt and the food was excellent. Really appreciated the fact that all of the staff went out of their way to make 2 weary travellers feel welcome in a big city. Thank you ๐

Ordered the Salmon Bowl before at Fourways Mall OB - was okay (looked nothing like the photo on the menu though). Ordered it again today at Brooklyn OB - was even worse. Very disappointing. Does not look anything like the photo on the menu. Had raw red onion in it (not pleasant). <br/>Waited almost 30min for the food. Saw the salmon bowl standing there for about 15 minutes, before the waitress brought it over to the table. Not good.

Poor service in general. The prawns were raw when they arrived. After bringing this to the attention of the waitress they came back burnt. Orders were incorrect. The food was poor quality in general.

Great family place to go to for some fresh fish. The sushi is not bad for the price paid. The staff are friendly and very proactive as they clear your tables timely and ensure you are comfortable. They check on you during the meal to inquire if you are satified, without rudely intruding your meal.

I've had lunch here a few times.Usually the food is good. The cocktails and coolers are really good. I would reccommend one of their shared platters. If you are not a big sea food fan just have their famous fish and chips with lemon butter sauce... Always a winner.Unfortunately the last time I vistsed them (this past weekend; 12/11/2017) the food was not good at all. The fish tasted burnt. The sauce with which my mussel started was served with was too thick and curdling. And the pieces of bread were so tiny! I was dissapointed this time but I'll probably give them another chance because my other visits to this branch have been pleasant.

It was an all round awful experience. The place was very full and I was treated as just another mouth to feed. After waiting for my food for 45min it eventually arrived. I had one bite and stood up and left. Fish was dry and cold. Calamari was overdone and the new lemon butter sauce is stale and eggy. Won't be dining there again.

Ocean Basket Brooklyn is situated outside the mall in the square surrounded by other restaurants. What I particularly like is that you have a choice between sitting outside or inside. <br/>The service was good and the bathrooms average.<br/>The sushi tasted delicious and it was freshly prepared by the sushi bar.<br/>I always order the Zen platter because it is a salmon only sushi platter. But the platter always leave me hungry afterwards and adding individual sushi to the platter becomes way too expensive. <br/>

Sunday lunch at Ocean Basket. We were a table of 9 and food took quite a while, longer than usual. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. We had a player for two and it was very tasty and large. Can't go wrong with it. Fries aren't the greatest, but they haven't been very good at Ocean Basket for a while. We had Baklava for dessert and it was very sweet and very delicious!

We were seated at the back of the restaurant, which is very noisy when full. The staff were good and the food was tasty but my food was served halfway through my friends' meals as I had sushi where they had dishes from the kitchen.

Decided to go here on Saturday afternoon! The initial waiter was on training and refused to bring me water for the kids saying the tap was broken!! Asked for the manager who apologized for the new waiter who was on training ! <br/><br/>Ordered some sushi garlic bread and some fish! All the food was amazing and so was the service!

Platter for 2 - Delicious. Everything cooked to perfection. Food is so tasty there's no time to make conversation between bites ๐๐๐ฝ the pink lemonade is very refreshing on a hot day. The baklava cheesecake is a bit on the sweet side but still lovely accompanied with syrup and pecan nuts and a side of ice cream.

Fish is not my favourite food. So when my sister decided to cancel on us going to cream and instead wanting to go to ocean basket, you can imagine my dissapointment. And the food didnt really help me into a joyful mood. Tasty but very heavy. When given the option of fried or grilled, do choose grilled. Do yourself a favour. Just grill everything.

Popped in for some takeaways and was pleasantly surprised - the manager on duty was extremely helpful and efficient. I thoroughly enjoyed their sushi and my partner said that his fish was fresh and well prepared. Very convenient place to grab a quick supper after a long day.

Service was slow, glasses were dirty. My prawns were overcooked. Bread was stale and heated in microwave. This used to be one of the better Ocean Baskets but its gone down a lot! Won't be returning

An old time favorite restaurant. I simply adore the sushi bar at the Brooklyn branch and the fresh fish specials!<br/><br/>I popped in for a quick lunch. Service was initially good and then seemed to have slowed down. Waitering staff seemed more interested in chatting to each other than serving the customers. Nonetheless, my waitress was pleasant!<br/><br/>I had a village salad with prawns which was prepared with a peri peri sauce especially for me as it is not on their menu. The food was divine and I devoured all of it. <br/><br/>Good value for money......I will surely be back!<br/><br/>

If there was a score less than 1, I would unfortunately have to choose that option. We waited 40+ minutes for our food. When we complained after half an hour, the manager explained that they had staff challenges. He said that they needed time to arrange the food to be prepared well... When our food arrived, my order was wrong. Sent it back. Then arrived overcooked prawns and calamari and undercooked chips. I don't usually make such a big fuss but this was really, really bad. I sent my food back, however, this rates up there with one of my worst 5 experiences ever. To management: please ensure that you take care of business even in the quiet times. We go to other Ocean Baskets regularly. This was a complete disappointment and let downโน๏ธ

When it comes to birthday celebrations, we love going to Ocean Basket Brooklyn Mall, they offer the best out of them all! The service as always are excellent, friendly staff, quick to serve drinks, and after ordering meals for 10 people, we were served 20min later! We absolutely love a platter for 2, everything fried. @We always have to order extra butter lemon sause because the amount they serve are not enough to our needs. Overall the experience was great, I just think all the Ocean Baskets should not get to greedy on saving, and rather deliver the portion sizes as advertised. I really didn't appreciate the sour and very small sushi. I believe I paid enough to atleast receive decent sized portions and fresh food. It really took away my appetite. The reason for my 2,5 stars would be the friendly waitress. She's the reason I felt bad to sent it back.

We are ocean basket regulars and this is our favourite branch in Gauteng.. Service is rapid! We had a table outside on the square which was really nice! Never too many negatives when it comes to ocean basket.. Brooklyn branch just has tons of positives!

I love going to Ocean Basket! They always have great service with Fishen good food๐. Last night I had the prawn and mussel combo with chips and rice--it was delicious! My friend had the pick of the ocean- a definite must try to satsify a bigger appetite! I love the bread they serve before the meals especially the chilly and garlic spreads its served with. <br/>According to me Ocean basket is always a lovely idea to enjoy a chilled lucnh or dinner knowing you'll walk away satisfied and stuffed!

Another cold winter night and I felt like more of Ocean Baskets creamy lemon garlic bread. A pan arrived with our bread with ample sauce to dip more bread in. 1 problem: 90% of the way through we found a piece of mussel shell and small piece of something which we hoped was a mussel. <br/>Was it from a previous meal? Was it new and just cooked with the sauce? I try not to think about it!<br/><br/>I ordered the 12 prawns and chips. I wish I had had some more lemon butter sauce, but the prawns were very nice. <br/>Thanks to the rich garlic bread, I didn't have space for my chips!<br/><br/>Our table was in direct path of a draught, so it was a bit chilly, but overall, it was a pleasant dinner.

On a Tuesday at lunchtime, when you normally would be at work, with sunshine and a clear blue sky, even more so!<br/>After a hectic shopping spree with a teenager, I was in need of something restorative - something fresh, cool and light: Sushi at Ocean Basket.<br/>I love to sit at the revolving Sushi Bar. They keep it fresh and simple with only basic fish, veg and sticky rice. I favored the Salmon Sashimi: smooth, delicious, almost buttery. Every dish was enjoyable, I definitely shall return again and again. <br/>One negative comment, though: they don't use real butter over their fried fish dishes. Instead it's covered by a margarine type sauce: ghastly!
