Priva is great upmarket restaurant to enjoy some of the finest whiskeys and wines. The food is fantastic. Try thier platter for two. Its like a mini tasting plate with the best pork belly and chicken strips i have ever had. Marco (the sommelier) makes this place for me. He has always recommended whiskeys and wines according to my taste witch i loved. He also takes the time to get to know you and personally wishes you a good evening at the end of the night.

When it come to food, i personally loved their amazing "pork belly" but in combination with their excellent choices of whiskey and cigars it completes your dining with a whole new level of satisfaction.
Magistrally managed, exceptionally good food. After different experiences I have made up my mind on this restaurant being the best one in Pretoria. The constant and unchanging good manners and gentlemanship of its manager being the greatest asset of all. Politeness, coupled with professionalism, produces class. Not something you find everywhere.
What an amazing evening. I wanted to treat my date Stefenie to a special evening and the table, the staff and the atmosphere were excellent. The wine sommelier was a highlight and after listening to Stefenie, he gave her the perfect choice of wine. She was well impressed. We will be returning to that evening, same table and hopefully same staff for hopefully a few more visits. Couldn't have ask for a better evening....thank you very much for a memorable and unforgettable evening!

We celebrated my wife's birthday with family and friends at Priva, and it was an absolute delight. The food was superb, the wine & spirits selection extensive and the late night vibe essentially unmatched in Pretoria.
A special mention must go to the unmatched service levels: we only dealt with friendly staff who were dedicated to making sure everything ran as smoothly as possible, and that we and our guests had a fantastic time.
Priva truly is something unique in Pretoria - we will definitely be back, and recommend it heartily to lovers of great food and wine.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Priva with wonderful family who made all the arrangements with help from great staff. Venue was awesome, food, from the starters, main meal to the desserts were outstanding. Staff including the Chef, great. Service 5 star. The music was a special touch. Well done Priva.

We loved the crab cakes, the sirloin and the creme brulee but the stand out dish was the chocolate fondant with the dulce centre.
The calamari wasn't quite to our taste - with the cream overpowering many of the other flavours. The dish was saved by an unusual wine pairing that helped cut through the heaviness.
Overall, we loved our time at Priva and would recommend it for special occasions.
Staff was extremely attentive friendly and professional. Our waitress was a superstar! We were at the cigar lounge when starter came to the table and the host came to get us. Crab cakes, goats cheese tarts and prawns were amazing. Mains were pork belly and lamb shoulder with risotto. Delicious! Entertainment was great. Was looking for something memorable for our wedding anniversary and the experience at Priva, from the excellnt service to great food exceeded our expectations! Keep it up!
Absolutely my favourite restuarant! The ambience created by the jazz music and everyone neatly dressed around you is so unique to Priva. The food is a culinary experience and you can order half of one dish and another if you cannot make up your mind.
Absolutely amazing food, I had the butternut soup for the starter and it was so good! Honestly the best butternut soup I’ve had. I had the stuffed calamari for main and it was scrumptious and delicious. Truly outstanding service as well. Compliments to chef Cayla :’)

The afternoon started with Marko Jovančić, co-owner of Priva, mixing delicious cocktails for us at our table:
For me, Pear-Blossom Martini. This unique signature cocktail is made using Lanique Russian Rose infused vodka, Triple sec, lemon, pear and cranberry juice.
For my father, Single Millionaire - Priva's signature cocktail: Singleton 12yr, Talisker 10yr, Grand Marnier and Raspberry Syrup.
As we sat sipping our cocktails overlooking the breathtaking views of Waterkloof Heights, I found it hard to imagine that we were in fact sitting in the middle of Pretoria.

Prawns Kataifi: prawns wrapped in Kataifi Pastry, homemade tequila chilli mayonnaise, and candied coriander. This was my father's favourite dish of the day!
Duck Salad: Rocket, pickled golden beets, toasted sesame seeds, grilled plums and honey soya glaze.
Salmon Tartare: Citrus earl grey spheres, red onion, green apples, capers, lemon juice, wasabi cream, spicy guacamole and dill foam.
Oysters three ways with chopped pickled ginger and soya sauce, white chocolate and black caviar and last but not least fresh spring onion.
Mains:
Lamb Shoulder Rolled with red onion, thyme, garlic and wild mushroom risotto with rainbow carrots. The wild mushroom risotto absolutely made this dish!
Priva's signature and a must for pork lovers: Pork belly, honey soya glaze, pumpkin tart, corn salsa, butternut puree served with homemade crackling.
Beef Fillet: Sauteed Shitaki mushrroms, creamy soya sauce, toasted pine nuts, baby garlic hasselback potatoes and tenderstem broccoli.

Excellent! I was impressed to see that even Chef Cayla took the time pop out of the kitchen briefly to chat to the birthday boy, explain her inspiration behind menu and make some knowledgable recommendations to him for his meal choices on his special day. Really an inspiring personal touch that I know that he will not forget. The Priva team made my father feel like an absolute king on his special day, and the overall feeling when we left was when could we possibly return.
*Recommendation: Priva Lounge is a versatile venue catering for everything from a stylish dinner with live music to simply enjoying some fresh oysters and champagne with spectacular Waterkloof views. Priva is, however, definitely aimed at a more sophisticated crowd so dress to impress!

This is probably my favourite restaurant in the whole of Pretoria thus far. The owner, staff and front of house are Incredible!! They know their menu’s, their food, wines, cocktails and cigars!! The menu is incredible! Flavours spot on!!! And always a winner!! They have live entertainment at the end of the week! Which shapes such a nice ambience. Marko KNOWS his wines and he wants you to have a good experience and time no matter what!! Love this place and is a great place for a special occasion, just a drink or even if you just want to treat yourself for a meal.

A while back I had the privilege of attending a whiskey tasting and food pairing at Priva. I fell in love with the look and feel of the restaurant, intimate and sexy. Our hosts were extremely knowledgeable and hospitable, our chef keen to hear our opinions of the meals and whiskey flowing of course. All in all it will remain a memorable evening for me. And they served the best pork belly I am yet to have.
Such a beautiful place. Lovely atmosphere, Love Love Love the setting and the Live band sealed the DEAL.😍However I still feel PRIVA needs to hire more staff as it is the festive season and more people will be coming more often. We had to keep on calling our waitress to assist us, which is bad for business. You can't assign 1 person to serve more than 5 tables. Such a sophisticated place for such delays...that's a NO NO!!

Simply magnificent! Our supper club tried the dégustation menu and loved every delicious mouthful of heaven. The live band was great. And we really enjoyed the wine selection.

We were surprised that we hadn't heard of Priva Lounge before. We opted for the tasting menu and wine pairing. The portions were large, the food was tasty and well presented. The wines paired well. The atmosphere was vibey with live music. We loved our experience there and will be back again. Thank you to the people at Priva Lounge.

The new menu is absolutely amazing and would advise everyone to try it! Some of the favorites are the kudu medallions with Amarula sweet potato mash or the lamb shoulder with wild mushroom risotto and a buttery parsnip purée.
I attended a Trafalgar event at Priva. The setup was beautiful. The views from the outside sitting area are phenomenal. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. The waiters were very attentive.

26.11.2016 Discovering hidden gems as I go. I had almost thought I was lost coming here as it was a residential area. Little did I know this centre would contain a few hidden gems. Not just one.
It has an amazing view outside and I'm sure summer nights must be awesome here. Staff were friendly and welcoming. There was a party happening in the side rooms and it has a nice atmosphere.
The young chefs presented us with a "Not your typical fruit salad" - Vanilla Panna Cotta with Apple / Pineapple and Strawberry Compote; Blueberry Reduction; Mango Puree; Lime Curd and Sour Cherry Gel. Served with Saffron, Pistacho and Coconut Sorbet on a bed of Pistachio Crumble. The Panna Cotta was good and presentation was lovely it definitely looked summery, but I wasn't too keen on the tartness of some of the other elements.
Another spot to come and chill / relax and enjoy the surroundings with a glass of bubbly or wine and definitely with a meal.
P.s. This review is solely based on the dessert we received on the day for a Dessert Challenge.
What a lovely place. I've been to ritrovo before but had no idea there above lies such a gem. This gorgeous lounge has such a beautiful view of the area. I love the intimate feel of the space and the stage set up for live entertainment. The delightful dessert we had makes me super keen to come back and sample some of their other dishes.
Am amazing place for sure. I loved the ambiance and the stunning decor. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. We ended here as one of the contestants for the desert challenge in Pretoria. What was presented to us was mouth watering.
We were served a vanilla panna cotta with apple pureè, apple and strawberry compolè, blueberry reduction, mango pureè, lemon curd. Sour cherry gel, with pistachio, saffron and coconut sobert on a bed of pistachio crumble.
The texture presentation and actual desert was out of this world. It was so refreshing and summery. It just made me feel as though I was on an exotic island with this scrumptious desert that just tantalising your taste buds.
It was very unique and packed with a burst of flavour.

I can't help but give this restaurant outstanding points. From the lovely atmosphere upon entering up until the classy service. Indeed a definition of fine dining. I went here for ThePretoriaExplorer dessert challenge of 2016. The chefs put up an amazing creative dish called a not so fruit salad. Considering the competition was against chefs of international standard I was shocked to receive such a perfect elegance on my plate from a young team of innovative chefs. I am one who loves to fault a dish but to be honest it was flawless. I can't wait to write the actual review which will be published in our dessert challenge brochure at the end of the year.

The best view and the best panna cotta can be found at Priva. We missed the sunset but the panna cotta definitely made up for it. The servers are friendly and welcomed us with warm smiles. Can't wait to return for a special dinner.

An amazing 'surprise birthday' dinner was enjoyed by my friends and I last night. The service was really top class. From the Co-Owner Marco showing me around the place, to going through the various wines they have in their collection. Personal bartenders going to our tables to mix drinks, to our waitress Kayla being super friendly & providing excellent service. Quality food & live entertainment for the ambiance. Really impressed & highly recommended.

The service is great and staff well trained,the setting is great but of course one goes to a restaurant to eat and WOW,superb. What an awesome experience , been there twice .. Found it by pure luck when the owner gave us a tour . Needles to say we have been looking for a proper jazz restaurant for a while and here we found one of the best. Music is always good, food is top notch and service is impeccable .. There is a personal touch put in everything of this restaurant which makes it unique.

Recently dined at Priva with a friend who is strictly vegan. I called in earlier in the day and the manager told me that they would prepare something suitable. I was stunned with the result of the meal that was created for our visit. A great deal of thought and care seemed to have gone into preparing a 3 course vegan meal. We were seriously impressed to say the least. The starter was exceptionally tasty and presentable and the same goes for the main course which was such an interesting and inventive mix of ingredients. The best was a delicately prepared dessert of chocolate mousse with no dairy ingredients. I was baffled by the depth of taste in this dish. Had no idea that vegan food could be so interesting and tasty. Utterly impressed with this experience and the pampering received by the staff! Dining Gem in out Capital city!
The owner Fortunato was absolutely hands on, on every dish that we tried had a combination of starters, a combination of main course and a combination of dessert all I can say that when Fortunato told us at the beginning we are going to be in a food coma, he was absolutely right. The food is to die for, awesome food with an awesome setting in the wine cellar. This place is awesome and I don't give 5 star ratings often. But this place really deserves it, well worth the drive from Jozi

I've been wanting to go to Priva for ages now and I FINALLY got my chance. The atmosphere is amazing. We were welcomed and seated and received wonderful service from Blessing our waitress! The food was amazing and served on nice hot plates! I would recommend Priva to anyone looking for a place for a special night out!
I was so impressed. Not only did they go out of their way to cater for me especially, our waitress Kelly was outstanding. The food was incredible and the view is breathtaking. The only qualm I would have is that they should consider maybe adding a few more vegetarian options to the menu as the choice is quite limited but as I said, they did make a plan especially for me which I found extremely thoughtful and accommodating. If your preference is fine cuisine with a somalier to pair your poison with multiple courses, then Priva is the place to be. Their menu is selectively focussed on giving you decadence on each plate. The setting offers a skydeck with a view that is pleasant on the eye. Be prepared to pay a tad more to experience gastric pleasures and the sky is the limit. Set in the heart of Waterkloof, Priva is a must. I like!!!!!!!
We celebrated my Mom's Birthday here last night and had one of the best restaurant experiences ever. The service was outstanding. Probably the best service in Pretoria. Our server, Kosi was amazing. One of our favorite things about the evening was Kosi's helper, Jared, who was just so sweet, friendly and adorable. We all tried out the 5 course tasting menu which I cannot find fault with. My favorite dish of the evening was the pork belly with pumpkin tart. The deconstructed cheesecake for dessert was also fantastic. This is such a beautiful restaurant with a gorgeous bar. Will definitely be back!
This hidden gem is a romantic, beautiful jazzy place with a stunning view overlooking Waterkloof Heights.
The seating is spacious and private and gives a fancy backyard vibe.
The menu offers limited options but with more than enough variety and each dish is creatively executed in a mastered and proven experimental way. It is clear each dish has been tried and tested.
The service is personal and attentive in an expert and professional manner, yet approachable. Its always a pleasure to see the chef interacting with customers.
Priva is definitely recommended for a romantic or relaxed and something different venue for fantastic food or even just a classy whisky.

I took my BFF for a celebratory birthday dinner and it was no mistake. The service was excellent. They are very accommodating when it comes to meeting requests. We were allowed to change the 5 course tasting menu to our hearts content. We had oysters for starters. Fresh, delectable and interesting. The scallops were perefect but heaven knows what it was served with - can't remember except that it was not memorable. I then had duck breast. If you are ever thinking of trying duck for the first time, wait until the feeling passes, not worth it. My friend had the fillet. My gosh, what a divine plate of perfection. Soooo full of flavor... The pork belly was next. I have dreams about that pork belly! Melt in your mouth delicious heavenliness yumminess. I must confess, after all those fulfilling flavors, dessert was a little redundant as I wasn't in the mood for sweet anymore. I would also like to mention, it was a Thursday evening and they had this amazing jazz band. Though the band was almost right behind us, we never felt overwhelmed. Really added to a super smooth atmosphere. I am so going back there.
Now this may seem biased, as Chef Forti is one of my favourite foodies in Pretoria, but this is hands down the best place for a sundowner, late-nighter, or an "impress the boss" kinda place to go. The massive selection of whisky (and whiskey) will leave you indecisive. The "champagne bar" (although novel) offers a selection of good quality local and international MCCs. Oh my word, not to mention the incredible nibbels that come from a TINY kitchen. I've been there on various occassions and we always gravitate towards the cold meat (charcuterie) platter to start off with. Really food worthy of #foodporn.
This is hands down the best fine dining establishment in Pretoria. We enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu (along with drinks pairing) for a celebration dinner and it was great. The live jazz added a beautiful ambiance. The menu is new and exciting without being inaccessible. It was downright tasty. It's definitely the kind of place you can spoil somebody at, celebrate at or simply kick back after work in the whisky lounge, with live jazz and a sterling cigar from their collection.
Definitely worth a visit.
The only downside? The restaurant needs Twitter and Instagram so that patrons can post about their food. ;)

My first visit to PRIVA was in June, this year for my birthday. My Boyfriend always allows me choose our adventures and PRIVA exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility, the ambience, the view, the food and the service.
Though we didn't have a reservation, we were able to be seated and were advised that for future visits, a reservation is required. We understood why and was given a beautiful welcome by the Manager as well as an entertaining History lesson. Our waitress was extremely friendly and most talkative. We were well taken care of and perfectly informed about everything.
We had the crab cakes and three dressed oysters to start, followed my the stuffed calamari and fillet steak for our mains. The food was exquisitel beautifully plated and extremely scrumptious! Without a doubt, we were satiated and didn't have space for dessert.
On Saturday, we visited PRIVA again, for lunch and it was a delightful experience. We just wanted the peace and quiet and the beautiful view. We ordered the Springbok capaccio and three way dressed oysters to start. Was yummy but by one oysters didn't have the white chocolate to compliment the caviar as it did, on my first visit.
Our mains, we went for the salmon and pork medallions. The food was incredible though my veggies were just a bit overly grilled but once again, we enjoyed every morsel. The pork medallions had a refreshing corn and pineapple salsa which my Boyfriend just loved. It really complimented the pork!!! (I forgot to take pics, next time).
We agreed, we could have licked our plates, lol 😆. It was delightful and our tummies were full!

Look...this place was my first "fine dining" experience. I can safely say im not a big fan of these kinds of food they serve there. Dont get me wrong...the food was good and the atmosphere AKA "the vibe" was exquisite. There is a live band that plays serenading sounds that just adds charm to a romantic dinner date. It is very cozy with dimmed lighting and cute fire place. Overall I loved it.

Great fine and dine place. One of the best in Pretoria. Very clean good atmosphere nice views great service good alcohol beverages cigars and variety of wines. Had a good time. Definitely going back there.
