Review Lucky Bread Company - Pretoria

Hinata Ito
This is one of the most favorite cafe in Pretoria. Coffee and sweet are very nice!! Especially, I love custard sweet. They have 3 kinds of them. And we can buy coffee beans, I bought 4 kinds beans!

Found this cute lil spot in Brooklyn Mall, the food was superb, I had a lucky breakfast something with a dirty chai latte and my companion had a Zulu breakfast board with a berry smoothie of some sort. The food was beautifully presented, well prepared and most of all budget friendly. Sourdough bread is amazing 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽. The menu is quite extensive for a small joint but service is really good. I will definitely go again.

Limited menu and not cheap, but what they do, they do well. Had good coffee, great juice and two wonderful toasted sourdough sandwiches.
J de villiers
Wonderful medium roast blend coffee and delicious Fresh man Sandwich and moist carrot cake. Unfortunately the waffle machine was broken, and had to order plain croissant but it was dry. All in all nice place to visit with family and friends

Now......If I said I have tasted the best Sandwhich....then I'm lying. Today....I officially tasted the most amazing Toasted Ciabatta Ssandwhich. I ordered a POSH chicken sandwich on Rye and asked them to toast it. They did it with a smile on their face. I'm going to have to move from the East Rand TO Brooklyn.....I could honestly eat this everyday. The staff were phenomenal and it waa just my perfect setting.

I'm there so often, the staff know me well - "Milk tart waffle with trimmings on the side" :-) Great coffee and super-friendly and attentive staff make this my go-to place! They are always adding new items to the menu so you never tire of their offerings. I particularly enjoy their sourdough bread, custard cruffin, milk tart waffle (even the new tiramisu one is excellent), green smoothie, Alicia's warm apple tea (perfect on cold days), spicy chicken melt, the new butter chicken one is delectable, the aubergine sandwich is surprisingly good and a great vegetarian option, lamb and chicken pies, fig cake (this is the bomb!), peanut butter and choc cake, the flourless coconut cake is amazing. For a summer drink, their pops are fantastic - there's a cola and berry one, I forget the name...but those drinks make you feel like you're on holiday and forget your troubles! :-) There's a lot to try...you'll definitely go back to try other things.

It's my favorite place to go for a coffee in the mall, despite it being inside. Great coffee, yummy food, and all reasonably priced.
Zain Naidoo
Friendly staff, delicious food and quick service. The food is so so good, fresh and well prepared.
Paul Docherty
Always excellent and a nice vibe. Food is fresh, coffee great, and everything runs like clockwork. You know good management when you see happy and friendly staff.
Konrad van der Walt
Great place for a quick snack on a shopping day.
Lourens Kemp
Conviently situated with nice access in and out of seating. The thing that made me stop and sit down was the fresh breaks on display. When looking at the counter one get the idea that good food and coffee will be served at a decent pace, and rightly so (We did wait bit later than expected though, but still quick). The tables are barn-like which give it a homey feel. Definitely stop here for good food

The best coffee and sandwiches you are going to find in Brooklyn... perhaps even Pretoria. The melktert waffle is pure heaven!
Kathleen Wilson (Kat)
Lucky bread has one of my favourite vegetarian dishes. I love the coffee and tea selection here too. Super unique flavours and chilled atmosphere although I always find the service to be a little slow
Jean-Pierre De Beer
Very good food with a fun location inside Brooklyn mall.
Sock Puppet
Great place for food, coffee, or just to relax and people watch. Highly recommend.
Sandra Herbst
Tea and Cherry pie indeed i feel lucky
Rachel de Saxe
What an awesome cafe! Definitely a favourite. excellent coffee, absolutely delicious sandwichs and the cruffin is to die for. The service is also very good. I have to recommend the chicken liver pate breakfast with figs and mixed nuts. They also have very fun promos at the moment its the hot chocolate ball which is delicous and surprising with hidden marshmellows inside.
Konstantin Nakazny
Lucky Bread has the best sandwiches in Pretoria. My favorite is the Man's Sandwich but the rest of the are delicious as well.
Marcel Armani
Best milkshakes best samis nice location always busy best bread 1 of a kind service is ok ..could be better .<br/>We having 2 milkshakes Vanilla and Salted caramel
Carb Queen
Love this place soooo much , im honestly a regular. But today there was 3 very obnoxious customers ruining everyone’s experience and morning and the staff did nothing to make them calm down .
Patrick
A wonderful little shop. I must admit they are a little pricey, But the freshness is definitely worth it. Service could be a little better but they were extremely busy when we were there. Will definitely go there again.

After a long day at the mall. A nice hot chocolate does the trick, I just had to try their choc chip croissant. the ambience is nice and casual.

Well the coffee was the best thing I had.. food was average.. I wish they’d specify that the “smoked chicken” was not actual chicken and was actually cold meat..the bagel with trout was ok but in my opinion could do with something fresh to balance it out. It was too one dimensional for my taste.. but the ambiance was great! Lovely cakes

First Timer!! 🍞🍞🍞<br/><br/>The restaurant has a typical coffee shop look and feel to it.<br/>The staff is well-knowledgeable on the menu: all the recommendations did not disappoint💯.<br/><br/>THE SANDWICHES AND BAGELS ARE TO DIE FOR!😩<br/> My smoked trout bagel tasted like the sea(if the sea had a taste) 🏄‍♂️.<br/>Even my Ginger smoothie was delicious. I mean, who gets ginger right??🔥<br/><br/>I also had the Flourless Coconut cake. Easily the most moist cake I've ever had! ❤ Top 5. DON'T LEAVE WITHOUT IT!! 🚫<br/><br/>I'm a happy camper, though part of me wished their meals came with small chips.<br/><br/>Kudos!! 😋😋

I'm a huge fan of lucky bread waffles. So on sunday I decided I just had to have waffles so I drove all the way and arrived at 4:30pm and asked if they were still open and they said yes. I ordered the waffles then I was told that they close at 5pm and their waffle machine was already switched off long ago as they were cleaning up! What a disappointment! I even asked nicely if they could put it on so I could have my waffle but I was told no coz they closing in 30min. Highly upset I walked away without having my waffle :(

The convenience of being located in the middle of Brooklyn Mall is already a great advantage. Open and airy. A place to be seen and meet friends. A quirky menu with great flavor combinations makes your meal a unique event. Friendly waitress on tap and the arrival of the meal is a nice surprise. 2 breakfasts with individual flair were washed down with espresso. Will certainly stop here again.
Tomasovicova.monika
Always excellent sandwiches, great fresh bread, fresh fruit juices, nice service. Good cakes. Recommended :) the only pitty is that they don't serve beer or wine.
Lethabo Matlala
Walked past this place too many timea to ignore it. Slap bang in the middle of busy brooklyn mall is a a little confectionary company under the starry lights of ster kinekor.<br/><br/>What really caught my eye as i walked by the lucky bread company was a beautiful carrot cake that i just had to have. <br/><br/>They do a very good job of balancing out the sweet icining with a healthy assortment of nuts. Still able to enjoy the sweetness without a sickening feel afterwards.<br/><br/>Good service. Good food. A foodie can't ask for more than that!<br/><br/><br/>
Zakiya Fareed
Good coffee selections. Vegetarian sandwiches are delicious albeit pricey. Location is suitable for a quick stopover! The most dangerous part of Lucky Bread Company is the pastry counter! Death by decadence... BEWARE!
Katrina Arends
Gotta love the toasted granola, thick greek yoghurt, fresh paw-paw and honey. The ham and cheese croissant to die for and down it with the cuppacino.
Lerissa
One of my all time favourites! I love sitting down to tasty sarmies...Or picking up baked goods on Saturday mornings. Yummy treats that never disappoint.
Georgina Anne Gerrard
Very Tasty Sandwich. The staff friendly and in a cosy little area of the mall. <br/>We took home a Ciabatta loaf was so nice and fresh. <br/>A nice little resturant.
Erica Geldenhuys
Had a horrible experience here. The sandwich I bought as take away, it was a vegetable sandwich, was off. The veggies inside had gone off and as I took the first bite my mouth went into shock. One of the grossest things I have ever experienced. But they do have lovely milkshakes
Shianne
Cruffins are just gorgeous. Flaky crisp pastry on the outside and soft, fluffy inside filled with strawberry jam. Go early though because these babies sell out super quick!!!! I've also had the philly beef melt, smoked turkey and roast beef and sweet chilli on sourdough bread. Flavorsome. Fresh ingredients. All the ingredients fuse very well together. This is the perfect place to stop by for a quick lunch or coffee or grab a few pastries. Service is also good, very friendly and attentive.
Hulie Malie
I have to admit, I got hooked by the aroma of their coffee so much that I had to sit and have a cup myself. <br/><br/>I love the rustic feel of the tables and the menu. Their waiters and waitresses are well knowledgeable about their food.<br/><br/>Their coffee is nothing less than what I imagined. Everything hit the correct spot well. 🙌🏾
Kaylyn
Interesting position in the center of the mall and seems to be a trend amongst the franchise. A great stop for a quick cup of tea and bite to eat.
Sizwe Hlabisa
This place has some of the best food in a while. The ciabatta I had was fresh and flavourful, the filling was a fusion of food and art. Their peanut shake was to die for. <br/><br/>Their menu options do not disappoint. It is just a pity that it is not around the sandton area. <br/>I am not familiar with the Menlyn mall branch, I was in OR Tambo but I was really impressed. Their mini pizza's looked highly tempting. <br/><br/>I would suggest they play around with pulled pork, pineapple or peppadew and gherkin filled sourdough sandwich.
Phatu Phanzu
I'd go there everyday.<br/>It's so original and different. Good positioning, very nice food.<br/>I enjoyed myself but I was disappointed about the fact that I couldn't get waffles because the machine went for service.
Abdullah Mahamed
Summer days calls for some amazing drinks and of course cocktails. <br/><br/>A day of shopping and all you want is a good beverage, whilst walking past I noticed they have this watermelon and mint juice and I was like hell yes!!<br/><br/>They make it fresh right infront of you and wow I don't think I've had anything as refreshed as that. <br/><br/>I noticed they have cronuts as well which will be next on my list to try
The Pretoria Explorer
Absolutely love love love this place. Although I just went here for a watermelon and mint drink which I saw advertised on the board I was taken back by the smell of lovely bread and a wide variety may I add. I certainly was impressed with the friendly staff and quick service. I will be going back and when I do I will write an in depth review.

Ambience in centre of Brooklyn Mall walkway - bustling and fabulous!<br/>Display of freshly baked breads - TO DIE FOR<br/>Display of gluten-free cakes and other goodies - TRY IT!<br/>Service - excellent<br/><br/>Don't think I've been to this mall before, so I entered below Ster Kinekor and passed this little coffee place, Lucky Bread.  And my eye fell on this tower of sugar goodness ... A STRAWBERRY CRUFFIN.<br/><br/>What on earth is a cruffin???  It's a mixture of a croissant and muffin.  I believe its the croissant dough that they bake in a muffin pan.<br/><br/>It was absolutely delicious!!!  Not too sweet!!!!  Crispy and sugary on the outside, fluffy on the inside.<br/><br/>I ordered an Earl Grey tea and it came in a pretty little teapot with a dainty little bottle of milk.<br/><br/>Next time, I have to buy a loaf (or 4) of bread.
Neeta Raga-D
Lucky bread company in Brooklyn is awesome! Situated below the movies, great coffee and the most delicious baked goodies from muffins to cake. A real treat indeed.
Michelle
We made a trip to Lucky's for drinks but decided to try out their waffles! Amazing and light with interesting flavours to choose from! We tried the milk tart waffle which is served with custard, cinnamon and brown sugar. Very tasty! Next time I want to try the chocolate mousse waffle....

I am a lover of coffee. Anyone who knows me knows not to serve me coffee unless they know it is the best they have ever had...<br/><br/>Well Lucky Bread is by far my favorite coffee place in Pretoria. I have fallen in love with their pour overs for R20. The best part is with the wide variety of coffees you can always try something new... however I highly suggest the Brazilian sweet yellow, one of my favourites.<br/><br/>For such a small coffee shop the food is also above par. Every time we go we check first what baked good stuff are ready first before even considering the sandwiches.<br/><br/>Alas when the sweet goods are gone and we have to choose "real" food we are also never let down. From the tasty sandwiches and baked goods to the beautiful coffee lucky bread is truly a winner.<br/><br/>So men next time you are being dragged around brooklyn mall "window shopping" why not suggest stopping off at lucky bread for a quick tasty snack and an amazing coffee.<br/>
Janthinus Schrage
Shopping Malls can be challenging, but with Lucky's in the mix I'm happy to settle there mid-shopping. They offer lovely confectionery and pleasant drink options. No liquor though, but that said, their shakes are divine! Lucky's is very popular and finding seating over weekends can be daunting, but it just show their popularity with young and old. Try theor chocolate brownies! (Share as it is very sweet).

Great vibe and most friendly staff. The food is amazing . I love the roast beef and sweet chili and no one makes a cortado like them. The best sourdough in SA. A must
Nadia Barnard
We dropped by for something to drink before a movie. Service was nothing to rave over and the rest of the patrons looked like they were in a semi comatose state-not the midday/morning bustle of the normal shoppers. The Vanilla & Fig smoothie was interesting; you should really love vanilla and fig to indulge in that. I opted for the Lucky Espresso Milkshake which was a very large milkshake that you had to pour (at your own risk) into a standard size glass - took about three refills from the milkshake jug. The cold brew coffee was strong and served in a tumbler - sure to jumpstart any deflated body or soul. <br/>The paper menus (with the curled ears) did not impress me and the seatcovers which kept on sliding off was a pain. Will be back for a bite to eat, just to give them a fair chance.
Melissa Do Couto
Fantastic place for coffee, despite being in the middle of the mall. I went here with a friend and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience, their donuts are delicious and their afogatos are what dreams are made of. Decedent without being too sweet. Service was a little slow, we had to ask for the bill a few times before we got it, but overall a great experience. I would definitely go again.
Archworks.sa
I'm a big fan of lucky bread. However this is the second time in two weeks that we had to wait for our food longer than usual. Has something changed in the kitchen? Service of waitresses very good and friendly.
Jaco Oosthuizen
Ok where to start - this is probably my favorite restaurant in Gauteng and one of my favorite places to eat in this country.<br/><br/>The coffee is amazing - they have well train baristas that makes the coffee to your liking. The range of coffees they offer is also top notch. A must try is the...
Marlene Robus
The best decaf coffee and best original waffle i have had! The staff are friendly and competent with what they do. The manager attends to guests adding a personal touch. Unique ways of serving food and coffee.
Carice De Jager
Had a nice brunch here, nothing out of this world but it was good!<br/><br/>The service is a bit slow and orders come in drips and drabs.<br/><br/>Love their bread selection and sweet treats! I had the chicken mayo on rye! It was good!
Silindile Mncwabe
Been meaning to come here and so glad i did, had a chicken and mayo sandwich which was scrumptious my companion had a cold trout sandwich which was surprisly delicious. Service was good.
Kemesha
I was really looking forward to a quick lunch at the Lucky Bread Company.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, I was truly disappointed!!! <br/><br/>Firstly, I had to seat myself. A waitress provided me with a menu and then never returned. When I looked around in an attempt to get a waiters attention ....I noticed that the restaurant was not very busy and had more than enough waiters. However, they were all inattentive. I eventually gave up and left! <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>All

Lucky Bread company has always been my coffee/ lunch in Brooklyn when shopping or catching up with someone, but my last visit here was totally mediocre. Service was fast and good but the menus were totally faded one can't even read them, and the hot chocolate we ordered had no flavour whatsoever and tasted like warm milk. Definitely not what it used to be.
Meet & Eat
Second on our list of favourite things - bread. Lucky Bread Company is a great restaurant made even greater by its location. Can't walk past without stopping for a quick bite or a coffee. Luckily, we only go there once or twice a month, as the prices are a tad ridiculous. <br/><br/>Hard to compete with their freshly baked bread though - and so many delicious options to choose from!
Neil Bissett
I ordered a Savoury Chef's Platter for my birthday recently, and it was great! A bit pricey, but worth it. It was more than enough for 9 people and it did not disappoint. The different bakes, breads and flavours were amazing!
Vanessa Manugu
I just had to end off my day with waffles and after much research, I decided to give Lucky Bread Company a try. <br/>Ordered the Good Old Fashioned waffle. Loved the presentation, the taste though, I was not entirely impressed especially since they are one of the few restaurants in Pretoria to have serve a variety of waffles. There was just not enough flavour to the waffle. <br/><br/>P.S - the menu needs to be updated, prices have gone up.
Renske Bouwer
I have never had a disappointing visit at Lucky Bread Company. I love the overall look of the restaurant. It is industrial & modern. The staff are always friendly and the food always fresh. The food and drinks are well-priced and you get more than what you pay for. Their delicious bakes in the window display always looks wonderful!
Elzette
Best Coffee and lovely treats. I think they need more space though. Always good service and the staff is always well presented. Definitely worth it every time.
Robyn Louw
Located in the centre stall of the mall, it's lovely sitting and watching all the people pass by. The coffee is really good! We had the Spicy Chicken Melt Down. The meal was really tasty, but when they say spicy, they mean SPICY! I had a running nose, which is unusual because I love hot food. So just beware of that. I've had the scones here before and they are amazing!!! Lots of yummy sandwiches, cakes and waffles to choose from. We'll be back :)
Philippa
What better to brighten up one's day than with a waffle and ice cream! The combination of chocolate, peanut butter, marshmellows and bananna was delightful. The service was a bit slow, but I just love the set up of this restaurant and there are a few more items on the menu I really want to try.
Dara And Tash On Food
<br/>"At the bottom of the escalator, really?" We thought as we took our seat.. Our search for a great waffle led us to Lucky Bread Company. This unassuming gem of a restaurant not only had great food and drinks, but the service knocked our socks off as well. The ambience is sort of like sitting calmly in the middle of a tornado, safe and peaceful with chaos around you. Dara had the cucumber and lime juice, while I had the coffee milkshake.. We were immediately impressed. The spicy chicken ciabatta, with mozzarella was cooked and served to perfection. We ended our meal with the classic waffle and the chocolate mousse waffle. The waffles, we learnt, should rather be shared, they're decedent, pricey and very filling. The waffles may not have been the best we've had, but the meal and service was excellent.
Maxine
The 'go-to-spot' at OR Thambo. No matter if we there for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Coffee is good. Food is amazing. And the staff are tentative, quick and happy. Have yet to find a place at the airport that even comes close.
Ansunette Pelser
I love this place! Such good coffee, great sandwiches, salads and breakfasts, and a good spot for some people-watching too. Even if you can't sit down, their take-away options are delicious and fresh. It's worth buying some bread to take home too.
Allegra Whitehouse
One of my favourite coffee spots in town! Their coffee is delicious and expertly made and you can pair it with great baked treats, pastries or frankly anything on their delicious artisanal bread! <br/><br/>I've always found the service pretty good as well as their pricing, but the best thing about this spot is definitely the coffee, which you can have served in a plethora of forms (I'd recommend one of their pour overs!). Although I'd be selling them short if i didn't mention their delicious freshly squeezed juices and great milkshakes! <br/><br/>You can pop in for a breakfast or lunch vibe and you won't be disappointed!
Caroline Edey
I went to the branch in OR Tambo airport and stumbled across this little gem of a place. After missing our flight, my husband, toddler and I were not in high spirits, but the breakfast we had at Lucky Bread Company did wonders to improve my mood. Good Food has the power to do that! I had poached eggs with trout, green olive tapenade and dill served on a English muffin. The eggs were oozing to perfection and the flavor combination was spot on. I can't remember the last time I had such a delicious breaky! My husband had a home made sour dough melt. Which consisted of mushrooms, herbs and bacon topped with melted cheese. That too was seriously good. The fresh juices were zingy and refreshing. Coffee, own brew, was on a par with the best. Excellent service topped it all off. Their slogan says: We're happy if you leave feeling lucky and satisfied. Lucky Bean you should be feeling very happy then! Cause uncertainly satisfied. Pity u don't have a branch in Jozi.
Divine Rakau
It dawned on me that I hadn't caught a movie in brooklyn I the longest time so I decided to swing by there after church today the next showing gave me enough time to grab a bite before heading into the cinema and out of pirw laziness I went to the nearest place which was this cute outlet located right under the escalators its so adorbs. They serve the most generous portion of milkshake in this huge tin and u can keep topping yourself off. I ordered a bacon avo white cheese pressed sandwich the waitress didn't give me and opportunity to choose the bread I wanted and when I asked her about it she kinda just smerked but it's fine coz she served it with ciabatta but I ended up not having the sandwich anyway it was super greasy and not very adventurous flavor wise I ended up opting for the roast chicken sandwich my word what lushness that was the flavor was amazing the chicken wasn't stringy which I truly appreciate had a bombing Bombay chai and tasted some apple cinnamon juice it had a strong cinnamon taste. All in all the service was k the food was superb and the atmosphere was rather chilled but I'm guessing the fact that its a Sunday plays a part in that.
Sasha Stroebel
I am a coffee snob and when it comes to Lucky breast, you can't go wrong! I had the misfortune of spilling my entire Cuppachinno on the floor and the staff was super efficient in cleaning it up immediately. They didn't once let me feel as if I was a burden to them and instantly asked if I'd like a refill. I love this place!
Nicole Melissa Brooks
In the hustle and bustle of Brooklyn Mall you will find the best gourmet sandwiches in town. You also get to pick which type of bread you would like. Try the roast chicken mayo. Delish!
Dillon Peens
It is not often that I am left speechless. Those who know me know I always have something witty to say. The man sandwich has changed all that. I have been eating one every week for nearly 2 Years and every single one has been magnificent. It is a beacon of consistency in the darkness of boutique cafés. I recommend to all who love bacon, cheese and exceptional sandwiches to give it a try. O and their coffee is pretty fantastic as well.
Lloyd Loots
This is usually my go to place when I am in the mood for carbs and in my opinion some of the best gourmet sandwiches in town.<br/><br/>My personal favourite. The Smoked Turkey <br/><br/>If you love a freshly pressed juice, I would suggest that you definitely try some from here.<br/>Carrot, Apple & Ginger. <br/>Beetroot, Apple & Ginger.<br/>Pineapple, Orange & Grapefruit.<br/>Cucumber, Lemon, Mint & Apple.<br/><br/>The best for a quick stop for those busy days or just a quick bite to eat whilst doing some shopping.
Angie
Had a quick hot chocolate today, which was salted caramel flavored. Tasted great! Love the decor & vibe, even though it's a bit 'hipstery', I'll be back! They also have baked goods which look great too! 😉
Stephen Coetzee
For a different treat try the Salted Caramel Milkshake.....its good. The food is really great and the artisan bread it is served on makes a difference. The place can get busy so expect to wait for a table but as I have said you wont be sorry.
Bianca Schulz
Final coffee shop hopping destination of the day. Was so wise to end it off here. Drove all the way just for their famous flourless coconut and chocolate almond cake. Man was it a good decision. The texture is incredible and it has just the right balance of 'chew and crunch'. They even gave us an extra big piece. Delicious indulgence? Check ☑
Isabel
I've supported Lucky Bread at the Hazel Food Market a couple of times and have always loved their breads. I was, however, plesantly surprised by the delightful menu at their Brooklyn outlet. I had the chicken liver paté meal which pairs the paté with dried figs, nuts and cranberries and served with your choice of toast. The meals are tasty and beautifully presented. Definitely worth the visit
Lara Nortje
The best place in Brooklyn for a light luch or salad any time! I absolutely love the atmosphere, food and outstanding service!! I would also highly recommend their milkshakes, it's definitely worth trying!
Mntimande Tone
The vibe is jovial this is due to the smiles and vibrant energy from the people that work here, their cappuccino was amazing and I'm definitely going to make time to try the meals.Ruby
Henry Marsh
An absolutely exquisite little café (can't really call it a restaurant) in the heart of Brooklyn mall. Perfectly suited for a coffee or lunch date with some of the best ciabatta sandwiches in town! <br/>Their homemade juices are even better. Seriously, go check it out! Cath Tatham
Nita
I must be crazy to come to this little restaurant and not have anything 'bready'. But, they have such great freshly squeezed juices and I absolutely love the freshness of their Micro salad. It's the perfect little lunch, if you want to go in and out within 20 minutes. Service is always great here. Still one of my favourites. <br/>
Emmarentia Kirsten
The best coffee shop in Brooklyn mall, always fresh and tasty food, try the waffels, and a smoothy, and while you are there grap a fresly baked bread to take home.
Edwin Watson
This is easily the best place to get a cup of coffee in the Brooklyn area. The barista's are fun and take their craft seriously. In fact I feel like they strive to be the best and know in fact that they are. I am not the biggest fan of their food but check out their baked goods and you will be craving something sweet.
The Secret Cat
Lucky Bread has a really cool vibe and really great coffee! The spread of baked goods is awesome and usually really topnotch! I'm a huge fan of the cronuts they make... I dare you to walk past here without stopping to get something! <br/>The menu is fun and inventive. Really wish they'd open another one outside of a mall!
Michael Morton
Best milkshake ever!!! The food is always good and the baristas are also vey friendly! Great lunch spot... Need bigger coffee cups though! :-)
Frans Pretorius
Amazing coffee menu and range. Busy friendly vibe. Definitely a must even if you just stop for coffee break while shopping or a healthy lunch.
Kyle Philip Coulson
Best sandwiches in Pretoria. Always good for a take away or to grab a quick bite with friends for lunch between office hours. Freshly baked and prepared on site. Love this place!
Nicole
My friends and I absolutely love this place! It is a nice place to sit and relax. Their coffee is at the perfect temperature, which is not something you find in many restaurants or cafés.
Jay Van Der Bilt
Awesome! However, the service is SHOCKING! Limited but good menu and the coffee is awesome. Have stopped going there now. Always busy so maybe it's just me but I feel it needs more...
Shae Leigh
It's in a noisy mall area but the great range of coffee will make you forget it for a while. If you order a coffee ask for it in a takeaway cup - this way you'll get more for what you pay (the other cups are iconic but tiny). Do not leave without trying their dark chocolate tart. Also if you're really into your coffee try the Brazilian bean (black naturally). If you're not so much into coffee, give the Brazilian a try. Black. No sugar. It will open your eyes to what coffee really is.
Riette
Cleverly tucked in under an escalator in Brooklyn mall, you can always expect to get the best coffee here. Their baked goods are phenomenal and the sandwiches are very tasty. Everything here is made with love.
Mariëtte De Villiers
I love the iced coffee! The dishes are presented in a simple manner with fresh ingredients. The seating is great for people watching but the one thing I don't like is the echo in the mall.
Willem Potgieter
Went to Lucky Bread today. I'm not a fan of malls but sometimes you have to go and if I have to I choose Brooklyn purely because of Lucky Bread Co. I have had their cortado, which was delicious, and today I had the Orange Rooibos Iced Tea. Delicious. I love the design of the restaurant. Their coffee machine is really beautiful. I love tge fact that they have pour over on the menu. I haven't eaten there yet but I have had a ham and cheese croissant take away and it didn't disappoint. All in all a good experience. <br/>
Lloyd Bemelman
Not quite the hipster jol if you were looking for one to exemplify yourself in social hierarchy. The shop could not be situated in a more convenient place.
Stephen Coetzee
A busy venue right in the middle of Brooklyn Mall...if you wait a while and get a seat you will be well rewarded...the Chicken Mayo and Smoked Turkey sandwiches where well made and great on fresh artisan bread.....the coffee....hmmm great and the Salted Caramel milkshake....say no more...fantastic...
Lizanne Hennop
Absolutely love Lucky's! Coffee is always amazing. The staff are slow at times but that's understandable for the location. Would definitely recommend this spot if your looking for a quick, good coffee during the day!
Christine Grobler
No one can beat their artisan sour dough rye bread, especially when paired with their fig and brie sandwich. And their coffee is absolutely PERFECT.
Shaina Boswell
Love coming to Lucky Bread Company, their food and coffee is consistently excellent. The service is a bit slow because they're usually full. But it's worth the wait.
Mixy Janse Van Rensburg
The take home freshly baked breads are delicious but the eat in experience not so much. Been there on 3 occasions and always find a lacking in the service as the wait for a simple sandwich is simply too long. Once having half the elements to meal simply left off the plate, like i wouldn't notice if the sauce on my dry bread wasnt there along with the cheese ?! Is essence and over priced sandwich shop.
Wilna Bester
In the heart of Brooklyn Mall, feeling a little lightheaded during a clothing shopping expedition - with my 13 yr old daughter- I stumbled upon two dear friends. They were having Bikini Salads with coffee. And I greatfully joined them. The salad: fresh, crispy with good texturing. I appreciate the cheddar cheese cut in small squares, the boiled egg in neat slivers, bacon also in slivers. The dessing: divine! Slightly sweet & astringent with subtle pesto of basil. This was a great lunch dish, especially for the month of January!<br/>They serve good coffee too, as well as bread and pastry to buy.
Martha Van Zyl
Whenever I walk past Lucky Bread Company the place is buzzing. And seeing as they're set in a prime traffic spot - beneath the escalators to the cinema in Brooklyn Mall - it is understandable. <br/><br/>If you're looking for great coffee and deliciously crusty artisanal bread, Lucky Bread Company is just what you want. <br/><br/>They are quite small compared to the other eataries in the mall, and their prices may put some people off. But find yourself a spot at one of the communal tables and spoil yourself - the experience is quite a treat, with tea served in individual cast iron teapots, milk presented in little glass bottles, and the variety of bread absolutely fresh.<br/><br/>I can definitely recommend the BLT; absolute perfection. I also tried their Caramel Cro-nut, but unfortunately that is not their best offering.<br/><br/>Service is efficient enough, considering how busy the place tends to get. It is a prime spot for people watching with a good cuppa.

Lucky Bread Company<br/><br/>If you're a "Breadie" like me that would eat savoury bread any which way from here to Sunday, slathered in butter, or waltzing with a pesto or sultry relish, you will adore this place! It's situated on the Mezzanine floor in Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria. <br/><br/>This cafe style restaurant has a lovely rustic 50's feel to it. Super comfortable atmosphere, wonderful staff that so incredibly accommodating and friendly!<br/>They have a small menu, which is why they always deliver only the best of flavours... mind you, items on the menu change from time to time depending on seasonal produce. <br/><br/>Their sandwiches are healthy but still packed with loads of flavour, "The best ever cappuccino!!" so I'm told (I don't have the palette for coffee and it's likes) but their teas are aromatic and so so divine! Smooth but intricate flavours!<br/><br/>Apart from their breads and sandwiches, they also have a bakery which is like a little piece of heaven! You must try out their Cronuts! This little beauty is the best of both worlds! It looks like a doughnut, but is made and tastes like a Croissant! I know, a little crazy... but they do it so well!! <br/>I'm faithful to the Chocolate Cronut... It has my loyalty till the end! But don't be biased like me, and be sure to try out some of their other delicacies! <br/><br/>Not a sliver of doubt will cross your mind!

What a waste of time! Service was slow, place is expensive, ended up paying R18 for a cafe latte the size of a small coffee cup and had a Croque Monsieur (clissic griled ham and cheese) for R46, its not bad, but nothing to write home about, oh and the best part, I waited more than 40mins for the sandwich!!!<br/><br/>If you're in a rush, avoid this place...

Amazing sandwiches and deserts, love the decor. Service is average but not bad at all. I definitely recommend it :-)

Occasionally we make the trek out to Pretoria for a change of scenery and this weekend it was to check out the Lucky Bread Company. This quirky little spot (I’m not sure what else to call it, it’s not really a restaurant, they don’t have a kitchen) grabs your attention as soon as you see it and they didn’t disappoint.<br/><br/>But what makes Lucky Bread Company magic is the joining of forces between two companies at the very top of their game. TriBeCa Coffee Company are roasters with their own shops who also incidentally supply Woolies’ coffee, so yup its good while The Bread Gypsy has won best bakery in the Eat Out DSTV Produce Awards this year.<br/><br/>The Bread Gypsy make artisan (i.e. hand made) breads free of preservatives, additives and conditioners through a fermentation process of at least 18 hours and baked in a wood fired oven - the way it used to be made and should be made they believe.<br/><br/>I opted for the Lucky Breakfast melt: sour dough toast, pan fried mushrooms, avo, sliced & boiled eggs topped with warm mozzarella cheese. It was really good and I didn’t expect it to be as it’s essentially served cold. I asked for the boiled eggs to be changed to scrambled which couldn’t be done (that’s how I uncovered they have no kitchen). My bacon was swapped for avo no problem (& no extra charge – I like!) and the bread (sour dough) was fresh and delicious. Unexpectedly yum. Ditto for the coffee (I had a filter coffee – love the presentation with the mini milk bottle) and the freshly squeezed OJ with a dash of ginger – it all hit the spot and I was pretty hungry by the time we arrived.<br/><br/>The service was faultless – just the right balance of efficient and friendly & our waiter was great (thanks Hector!). I love that at the end of everyday, they give all the unused bread away to charity and start baking fresh bread in the wee hours of every morning.<br/><br/>See my full review with pictures on my blog... http://www.wiscellaneous.com/2013/08/19/lucky-bread-company-carbs-coffee-irresistible/
