Lovely surroundings, so peaceful. Great option for breakfast with good quality food and friendly staff. Very limited breakfast menu though. Lots of baby showers and kitchen tea's held here. Would definitely return.
Had an awesome slow Sunday. Great bacon, feta and fillet steak salad with some lovely surprises of gooseberries, blueberries and pumpkin seed. Weird I know but just venture a try of this exquisite fresh summer salad. Generous portion, this is the real deal.
As you enter this plot you are immediately welcomed by beautiful trees, walking in you are welcomed by warm smiles and I think that was either the manager or owner who adds a personal touch to go around each table asking if everything was okay you truly feel welcomed. You have the choice of sitting inside or outside on the green lawn with ample shading, we sat outside to see the beautiful view, they had what seemed like a party for kids going on so it’s very kid friendly. Moving on to the food it was delicious I had the freedom burger which was really big and so so good my partner had the pork belly which was as equally tasty if not more. Lovely place to host a baby shower or any other event, really can’t fault this place. A must visit.
La Vie Lente is an absolutely superb place to relax and enjoy good food. Not being a fan of the tradional tea-garden vibe, I didn't expect much of this place. Boy, was I surprised! The staff members are incredibly friendly and helpful, the food is fresh and very well made and the ambience is great. The setting and decor is beautiful. It's very child friendly too, but it isn't the only feature as is the case with most tea-gardens.
The food is truly delicious. The burgers have delicious brioche-y buns and the patties are very well made. The burger with bacon, mozerella, guacamole and exotic mushrooms is sublime! The sharing platters are fantastic, especially the chorizo croquettes. The salads are also divine, fresh and perfect to share. The lemon meringue is to die for!
Once again, the service is amazing. Marguerite Van Der Merwe ordered a cuppacino and just as it arrived, her baby needed to be fed. After this was finished, her cuppacino was a bit cold and out lovely waiter noticed this and replaced it for free. Some of the best service I've had in years.
This place is definitely worth a visit. Thanks for being the best brunch spot around!
What a lovely find ... we sat in the garden and had a beautiful lunch. Lamb Tagine was delicious and so was the aubergine bake. The veg platter is Vegan friendly and came with some lovely dips. Service was great and the food came alot quicker than expected. The Lemon Meringue pie was outstanding !!!
The area where this restaurant is situated is just refreshing, The decor makes one feel like home it is genuinely breathtaking and the vibe is just amazing. The food was scrumptious. I love everything about this placeKholofelo Mphahlele
Loved everything about this place; from the food to the restrooms! Perfect spot to unwind. I must say the climax was when the waiter came with our burger, so overwhelming 🤣. I think this is officially "my spot".
We attended a bridal shower here and it was a divine experience. The scones were fresh and beautifully made, the assortment of eats looked absolutely delicious and the vegan platter made for me was outstanding. The taco shells with guacamole inside were well seasoned and the balance of flavours worked well with the hummus, olive tapenade and basil pesto that accompanied it. The fruits was fresh and beautifully presented 🌸
I've been wanting to visit this restaurant for quite a while now. It is on the outskirts of Pretoria with beautiful gardens. Very interesting menu, not a huge variety though. The owners also checked on us during our meal. This restaurant is ideal for a small function such as a babyshower or kitchen tea.
What an absolutely amazing lil place.
My second time visiting, and this time for a function. The staff went out of their way to assist and to accommodate our guests. Such a beautiful homely and delightful way to spend the day! And the food, ☺️👏
A quaint gem, that is the only way I can describe La Vie Lente. The restaurant is extremely family friendly and during our visit we saw quite a few families coming for their church luncheon aswell as a kids party that was going on in the background. Absolutely quite and sitting out on the stoep was just the right way to spend a sunday morning.
The menu isn't that big but the items that they have on offer are delicious. Definitely a must see on your next weekend outing!
Visited today for a semi business meeting, and what a pleasant experience. Service was a bit slow, but the good coffee and burger more than made up for it. Only criticism, the chips served with the burger would have been better if they were hand cut ;-)
Stumbled across this quaint venue and restaurant in the east of Pretoria. Lovely setting. Ideal for functions. Great outdoor seating options. Enough spacing between tables. Background music relaxing and contributes to ambiance.
Menu: Wide variety of platters, salads, even curries and grills. Will come pack to explore the menu further.
Friendly and competent waiters.
This venue's country location is perfectly suited for a quick escape out of the city for a lazy breakfast or lunch. The atmosphere is laid back and the waitstaff are very attentive. The menu is definitely unique and geared towards sharing, which makes it a good place for catching up with family or friends. Definitely family and child friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food, good conversation and some tranquility.
I'm not sure how I happened upon this place but I am very glad I did. Booked a table for my mommy today being that it's Mother's Day. I was fairly pleased we were seated in a cosy indoor room overlooking the gorgeous space. There's cute play areas and it's lovely even for a walk. Some of the food was cold but most of it was flavorful and cooked superbly, I'm a little bit anxious about being so far from the main space because you don't get feel the hustle and bustle of the service it's a feel some would prefer I don't. But the whole place is tranquil and most of the food was good I can't think of anything I didn't like on the tapas platter think it's a nice place to unwind with a glass of wine a platter in the summer so you can soak in the sun.
What a brilliant setting, great quality food and drinks! We had the best most tranquil time! I will definitely recommend and be back soon!!
After reading previous reviews, I thought it wise to book a table for breakfast/brunch. At first when I arrived there was a definite "farmy vibe" going on - such a pleasure to find yourself in a tranquil environment with roosters roaming free and gorgeous lemons hanging from the tree. Was a warm and friendly environment. The most amazing thing about the outing was the massive "plaas stoep" (farm patio) which we spent hours on having our champagne-breakfast.
The coffee is amazing - thanks to Bean There being the official coffee supplier! What a treat!
Within a short time, the place was packed! Families with kids, grannies and aunties came flooding through the doors. Now this place is the farm house we never had.
Food was of a very high standard - and beautifully presented.
Service was friendly, efficient but not pushy and rushed.
We tried new items from the menu - which is not on the posted "Menu-Food" pictures loaded on this page.
Spicy Spanish street eat (R70)
Chorizo, sautéed onion, poached egg, tomato, button mushroom....and instead of the the toasted
baguette... zucchini fritters.
- Served in a tin plate, wonderful hearty portion!
Savoury flat bread (R70)
Flat bread, chive cream cheese, fried egg, bacon, sautéed red onion, button
mushrooms & sliced fresh tomato.
- Served stacked and warm. What a treat!
Worth a return visit with the parentals or future in-laws - but book a table to avoid disappointment. :)
A tranquil, simple( as in non pretentious) venue that feels you are certainly not only 10min drive from Silver lakes.
Expect friendly hands on service from the manager/owner, attentive waiters( thank you, Honest) & great food under the trees. We had the lamb curry with couscous, pork belly with apple & prawn curry; all of this was superb.
Will definitely be back soon to try the new menu.
We arrived just after nine and it was already full. But to out delight the mady organised to get a table carried outside for us! The staff is very friendly and the atmosfere is divine. It's a tranquil place with a calm feeling to it. We shared the mango cheesecake and it was worth it! It was very tasteful. Next time I will take my one slice ! Can't wait for my next visit
We visited a again for breakfast and it did not dissapoint! The menu changed for winter and it was still difficult deciding from al the delicious options! What a gem
Always a nice place to visit! food is nice, service really good! Overall- worth the drive and money spent! Like the peaceful farm atmosphere too!

La Vie Lente translates to "The slow life", and is truly a great spot to enjoy a Saturday lunch with friends. We enjoyed it so much, that we stayed for nearly four hours! It is a very relaxed setting, and being seated outside under the trees was just lovely.
There are various seating options, which include private function rooms, cafè - style seating inside, seating on the "stoep", a long rectangle - shaped veranda which seems to be used for outside parties, under the shade and trees on the grass. Bring a picnic blanket along, and your little ones will have comfortable seating too!
The food is tasty and well presented, with a large enough variety to suit most taste buds. The tapas platter is delicious, enough to serve as a starter for four. The dishes are well developed and the ingredients used complement each other perfectly. The chocolate brownies with cream and sour cherries were one of the highlights of my meal.
The kiddies menu includes a healthy option or 2, which is a nice change from the standard, greasy food that most restaurants try to feed our children!
It is a good idea to make a booking, as they do seem to be rather busy over a weekend. For more information on their various function options, they have an informative website that answers all your Q's.
Being kiddie-friendly and the relaxed nature of the restaurant, as well as the good food, we will certainly be going back again for a visit.

I was cycling on Lynwood road one Sunday out in the plots when my bike broke. I found myself at this establishment whilst waiting for a lift. A lovely country setting with under cover and outdoor seats with nice views over the country side. Menu was a small well selected offering. The first time I had the Tapas Platter @R120 with a good red wine not badly priced. It was very nice. The next time I had the Slow roasted Pork Belly with an apple and Celery salad on top. The combination was wow R140. I drank a refreshing Rosewater and Rubarb Sparkling Cooler R24. I ended off with a stunning dessert of Panna Cotta with Berries and Peanut prabie. The venue has picnic blankets under umbrellas and the kids can run around and play. The hostess is a gorgeous and tentative lady. Worth several returns to date.
Went for breakfast with Robbie Newham this morning. Great food and service! Was very impressed. I had the banana bread French toast and if you have a sweet toothy this will surely not disappoint. Good outing and setting for a weekend breakfast or lunch. Warm and cozy during the winter. Will definitely be back to try some more of their delicious food.
Absolutely phenomenal. Perfect and tranquil setting out on the plots of Pretoria. A quick ten minute drive allows you to arrive at the best hidden bistro in Pretoria. The Pork Belly is a must and also the cheese and meat platter! Definitely the most amazing restaurant
What a foodie HEAVEN!! Exquisite presentation , taste/preparation and choice of dishes superb - mix that together with the soothing sounds of jazz and the tranquillity of a farm setting, you won't find better in Pretoria. We have been there many times and you quality have remained top notch on each and every dish! Keep up the good work guys!!!
