One of my favourite restaurants on earth! Had kingklip fish and it was so yummy... lots of fresh big Lemmons on the side and veggies to die for.. let's not get started on my view over the beautiful golf course.. lovely!! 10/10!!!

As always a special treat - perfect meals and excellently trained staff. Our party of 10 had the best time - the guests from the UK were very impressed with the Biltong salad and the Eland schnitzel in particular.

What an awesome dinner experience we had. We were a party of 6 seated outside on the veranda. We were welcomed by great ambiance and the service to match that. Charmaine was excellent and attended to all our needs. Our dinner order came without fault and there was not one plate that was sent back without being wiped clean. Will definitely return asap
Our first meal out after lockdown. We chose to go to dinner at 4pm, a bit early but we knew it would be quiet, all the protocols were carefully followed, at the same time it was a really lovely family dinner. Despite only drinking away on a glass of non-alcoholic wine, we only left at 18:30. There is something to be said about holding a long stemmed glass filled with red liquid and having your meal of choice served to you. The food was outstanding and so was the service! Wishing restaurants owners and their staff much strength and resilience during this time, it cannot be easy. Rest assured we shall be back!
Celiac friendly! Very impressed by the cheff knowing that wasabi does contain gluten and therefore altered the meal to accommodate my father's celiac disorder. No trace of cross contamination. Top class food. Lovely vibes. Friendly staff all around
We were here for a friends 21st birthday on Thursday, the venue is absolutely gorgeous with the most amazing atmosphere; the staff are so friendly, welcoming and accommodating; and the food was absolutely INCREDIBLE!
They cater for both meat lovers and veggies, if you like super spicy then the curry is the dish for you!
Would definagely recommend this restaurant for a special night out with your loved ones
It's always a pleasure visiting Blu Saffron. The manager is probably one of the best in SA and the food is always perfect. Staff can be a bit up-tight depending on who you get but all in all a great culinary experience while overlooking one of SA's top golf courses.
Blu Saffron is an upmarket restaurant with a fantastic ambiance. The service was very good and we were made to feel that our custom was valued. The food was of an excellent quality and absolutely delightful. We had a fabulous evening and will definitely return to Blu Saffron.
Great vibe, lovely interior. I really enjoyed all the beautiful paintings. Music was perfect, wasn't too loud. You can actually hear the people at the table which I really enjoyed because usually places are too loud. Service wasn't bad but it does need some work. Food came very quickly. I had chicken schnitzel with cheese sauce and it really wasn't good. It was very dry. Wollies schnitzel is better but I had a salad with it and the salad was AMAZING. The cheese sauce was good. Would go back.

It might seem that the menu is limited . And yes , I feel that way too. Though the fantastic thing about Blu saffron is that the menu is always done to perfection and that is way more important . Different seating areas create a delightful ambience , might it be chilled drinks , meetings or parties in function rooms . The amazing view overlooking golf course on there outside dinning area. This has and will forever be a favorite of mine . Have not been there in awhile and definitely craving a return soon .

It has a very elegant atmosphere and a special cosyness....
The service was exceptionally good. Very friendly and helpful without being annoying.
They accomodated our diatary needs without any problem and the food was well presented and delicious.

Stunningly located on the golf course and in the heart of the beautiful Waterkloof. Blue saffron never seems to disappoint. Some real fancy dining and wining.
I love their starter menu and tasteful options. I always enjoy the duck uniquely prepared.
I do think some of their portions are too small and then over priced, but nevertheless you will receive a quality plate of food. Always stunning tastes and unique combinations!
I have to mention one thing sad; the guy who took our orders was in a rush and a bit rude. I forgave him as my duck was amazing.
Also, their chocolate milkshake is out of this world... The best milkshake Pretoria has to offer.
It was lovely sitting outside looking over the golf course. All our food and wine was great. One of the steaks was very tough but they were very nice about cooking a new one. The chef's 'speciality sauce' was a green Thai curry sauce that was wonderful. The haloumi starter was a bit small and underwhelming but the mussel starter totally made up for that with taste and quantity.
A fantastic atmosphere with the service to match. A hidden gem at Pretoria Country Club, very popular with those who know about it. We had pre dinner drinks out on the patio, very comfortable inside with a stunning array of art on sale covering the walls. The owner gave us the most amazing run down of the specials available, the food and service was exceptional, I will definitely be back
It's been a while since I have eaten at this restaurant. My last experience there was not the best. The service at the time was so slow and the food really nothing to rave about. However on my last visit there in January 2016, I was pleasantly surprised. We had a newly introduced menu item, the Bali fillet and the seared Norwegian salmon. For dessert, I had a wonderful Turkish delight flavored gelato. Overall, an extremely pleasant dining experience.

I gathered my family here to celebrate my birthday. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. The tow servers assigned to our table were friendly, one more so than the other. It's just a pity I didn't get her name. She seemed genuinely enthusiastic about her job & being of service to us. I love the art on the walls of this place. Yes, yes, yes. Also it has a very country club feel, which I do like. It's in the leafy suburb of Waterkloof and one may feel a little bit of an outsider based on colour (sad fact) here but we were not made to feel unwelcome. The tables are pretty close to each other so if there's table banter and you're all laughing you may feel as though you're disturbing other diners' experience. However they do have private function rooms too which is really nice. Again, the decor is so warm and inviting. Light wood-based and elements of red and warm fire (big round votive candles placed all over the restaurant). This is the perfect ambience for a rainy Saturday evening with glass of wine in hand while overlooking the golf course. Yes! Love it.
5 adults and 5 different starters. Gosh. Suffice it to say that everyone loved their choice. A must-have is the crumbed mushrooms dish. Delish. We had two children under 7 at the table and they were also well attended to. Being that they are kids, they were a little up & down and excited and I was worried we'd get complaints but we did not. There were only two other tables with children and it seemed the restaurant staff are adequately trained on how to handle kids in the restaurant. This is because the establishment isn't necessarily your kid-friendly type. So the effort made by the staff didn't go unnoticed. The kids each had a fish & chips dish which was brought out pretty quickly and it was thoroughly enjoyed by both boys. Our servers were attentive with our drinks needs too & constantly checked on us to ensure glasses did not run dry. Mains! Wow! From duck to fish to rump to lamb...it's safe to say we had all meat bases covered. And each person enjoyed their choice. Worth a specific mention is the venison dish that my brother ordered. All I can say is there wasn't enough of it on his plate. Also the duck. Yum. My other brother had this dish and I particularly enjoyed the orange glaze accompaniment. In fact that is almost always the best thing about duck😊. The children had ice cream for dessert and the one Turkish delight(?) ice cream was too good. I shared the Ferrero Rocher mousse with my mom and although yum, we were both in agreement that it could definitely do with a scoop of vanilla ice cream as an accompaniment otherwise it's just too dry and too sweet. The less sweet ice cream would be a good balance on the palate.
Initially when we had a look at the menu, my mom remarked that it was a very small & limited menu but after the fact, I like that they didn't have endless choices of dishes that just leave you so confused as to what to choose. Also a highlight are the managers who brief the table on the specials. So engaging and so well executed. A little OTT but not pretentious. LOL. Such a highlight because you see the passion with which they describe each dish & they really get you thinking too about those choices because they describe them such that you begin to salivate, LOL. They're very good with helping you make a choice and we did appreciate that.
Overall a great night at a great restaurant. Bear in mind that it's pricey but you do get good ROI where the food is concerned.
This is such a great dinner venue! Has a slightly gourmet feel to it, yet still very approachable. The dinner menu and wine list has some great options, the lamb shoulder is one of my favorite mains!
One of THE BEST fine dining experiences in Pretoria. Food is always excellent, waitrons & managers are on the ball, and sitting outside on the veranda overlooking the country club takes you into Africa, antelope and all. The personal menu presentation is always very well received, and any establishment that stocks Hermanuspietersfontein Posmeester, Kleinboet & Arnoldus already deserves atleast a 4.0 in my books.
Went to Blu Saffron last night for dinner. It was quite full being a Saturday night yet the service did not lack once. Vuyo our waitress was very friendly and did her job well. The food was delicious. My boyfriend had the kudu fillet with blue cheese and figs and raved about it being Pretoria's best venison. He throughly enjoyed it. I had the duck with orange sauce which was just as good. I enjoyed the overall vibe of the restaurant. We will definitely be back again soon. We were just disappointed at the end after we paid our bill it was as though everyone just forgot about us and did not even greet us goodbye or anything. Maybe something small but in the end it is these small details that set you above the rest.
Had a lovely evening with my boyfriend. The food is superb.. Cooked to perfection.. Loved that the chef and managers come to your table to follow up.. A great place to go for a special evening..
This place has never disappointed. Not the everyday restaurant for most people, but when you do go there you know you will be looked after by knowledgeable staff who are happy to assist. The food at all times are good makes you want to stop there instead of the PCC Halfway House during your round there. A top notch restaurant in Waterkloof definitely worth visiting.

Had our girlsnight here and enjoyed it thoroughly! Had the duck for main and was cooked to perfection! Staff was very friendly and My dessert was also yum!! Will definitely be going there again in the near future!
Two things, one: The Thai red curry muscles that were part of the specials of the evening was a bit watery. Two: it was uncomfortably hot inside.
Other than that the overall experience was amazing! Staff were incredibly accommodating. The rest of the food ordered was incredible! The pairing was spot on, Salmon, fish, meat ect all cooked to perfection. Expecting that there would be delays in receiving the orders as the restaurant was quite full, and we only ordered between courses. I was pleasantly surprised that we hardly waited at all . The portions are quite lavish.
I just want to say Thank you! My family and I had a tremendous experience, and you will most defiantly be seeing us soon.
Incredible lunch at the Blu Saffron today. We were a table of 8 and arrived just before the kitchen closed. The staff were incredibly accommodating.. Really great service. I had the fillet medallions with the Dijon and pepper sauces - it was delicious even though my fillet was slightly over-cooked. Everybody else at the table also seemed to enjoy their meals. I heard the duck was lovely, the sole was buttery soft and the chicken schnitzel was a winner. This place will DEFINITELY see me again
This is the type of restaurant where you take you wife or girlfriend for a special occasion. The food is absolutely fabulous and is well supported by quick and effective service. I love the fact that the Manager on duty presents (with so much passion) the specials.This will cost you, but now and again it is definitely worth it.
I came here for a friend's 21st birthday earlier this year and was thoroughly impressed by the food, atmosphere and service. I had the tomato soup starter and steak as a main, both were absolutely delicious.

I can't believe how long it's taken me to review Blu Saffron! I was so certain I had done it ages ago. I've eaten here many times over the years and even worked as a waitress here back in 2013. The food is always outstanding, the selection of wines is excellent and the service is impeccable; and last night was no different. I came with my family for my mom's birthday. I ordered the biltong and mushroom soup for starters, pork neck for mains and a yummy Kahlua Don Pedro to finish it all off. And enjoyed a few glasses of Hermanuspietersfontein Kleinboet 2012, a smooth Bordeaux blend, through the evening.
I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and especially for late afternoon drinks in the warmer months when you can sit outside and overlook the beautiful Pretoria County Club golf course. Looking forward to coming again soon
Absolute attention to detail...some lovely food offerings from comfort good old classics all the way through to something different...I did expect it to be busier on a Friday afternoon...but it was relaxed and we enjoyed every drop of the meal!

I have been meaning to try this spot out for quite some time and was lucky enough to finally get there last night.
To begin with, Hank van Heteren and Peter, are some of the most articulate and passionate people that I have met in the South African restaurant industry and it really does shine through in their meal presentations and quality.
Blu Saffron, located in the Pretoria Country Club has an ideal location if not one of the best. This is by no means a small restaurant either boasting two lounges, a bar, a main dining area, and an outside patio with couches, tables and chairs overlooking the first tee.
Both Charne and Jasmin, our attentive hostesses for evening visits that I have been here, were always on hand to top up our glasses or assist. 5/5 on service - I am just never disappointed!The food: Over several visits, I have tried their famous biltong soup with spring onions and it was SUBLIME! There is certainly a reason that this soup is famous! Then I moved onto their recommended lamb shoulder which was cooked to perfection and finished up the meal with a creamy cappuccino!
All in all, a very pleasant experience and I didn't regret making the trek to Pretoria for a night out at all! I will be back!
Great location! Perfect for summer Champers on the deck, or in Winter, next to the fireplace sipping on single malt. Best service and rump in town! Will definitely recommend the private room for bigger groups. Intimate and great service.
A wise choice for a special anniversary dinner with my wife. Professional staff was for me the highlight of the evening. The Biltong & Mushroom cream soup is to die for and an excellent start to our 3 course meal. My Duck was perfectly cooked and well balanced with the orange sauce. My wife was very satisfied with the Fish of the day. Thank you Blu Saffron, you are one of the best in the area!

I had vegetarian carpaccio, a delicious light starter. We were served fresh warm breadrolls which I used to mop up the tomato juices!
I also had a morsel of the duck liver creme brulee with preserved figs - smooth and buttery.
Lovely fresh desert of strawberries and cream - slices of strawberry served prettily on a plate with a bowl of cream and a little jar of sweet strawberry coulis. Ah...
Was invited to a farewell party at the Blu Saffron last week - we had a private area for dinner which was great. I had never been before and had no idea what to expect. The food was fab - I had salmon for starters (a very generous portion), grilled line fish for main and the most delicious strawberries and cream for dessert in fact I could wax lyrical on this as the presentation & flavours were memorable & this to be said of what would normally be a very ordinary dessert. The service and food were excellent considering we were about 30 of us and our orders were all correct. It was a lovely evening with great food and really good service.
The venue is good for private celebrations.
