Review John Dory's Mooirivier Mall - Potchefstroom

The restaurant was amazing. The food is to die for. I would surely go back for more and more of their meals. Additionally I loved how the waitresses and waiters service the customers.

Pro: seafood as good as in a coastal city. Con: wheelchair seating awkward in the non-smoking dining area, due to fixed seating. We shared a sea food platter with mussels, grilled calamari, prawns, fish and vegetables. Instead of vegetables you may also have salad or chips. Meat dishes are also served. The patio smoking area is very pleasant overlooking willow trees with a fake water wheel feature. Friendly and attentive service.

Upgraded from four to five stars. Service was excellent and food was outstanding!

Delicious food and acceptable service. They have a great student special for only R55. Seafood in Potchefstroom there is no better place to be.

I would just like to inform all sushi lovers of a change in one of the menu items. My friends and I love deep fried shushi and ordered the deep-fried futomaki, only to discover that it doesn't contain a deep fried crust anymore! Upon sending the dish back, the waitress returned with the dish, informing us that the sushi chef told her that is how they were told to make it now. Despite having no issue with our waitress' service, the low quality of sushi is not even making half-price sushi worth it anymore. See attached photos in comments section.

Glad nie lekker ge eet daar vandag nie! Eersten was die tafel regtig nie skoon nie en my kos was regtig nie wat ek verwag het nie! Ek het die starter platter met stuffed calamari ge eet en die jalapino poppers! Dit was baie min en die jalapinos se pitte was nog binne! Regtig teleurgesteld in JD potch!

I am extremely disappointed in this John Dory's. Our waitress (Portia) was great, I can't fault her on anything. The Manager (Michael) on the other hand, was so extremely rude and careless about the fact that we waited 2,5 hours for our sushi, when it finally arrived, our order was wrong. The manager was so incompetent in this situation. In the first place the manager, didn't do his job like he should, and didn't have enough staff on duty at the sushi bar, and secondly he was so extremely rude when we complained about the 2,5 hour wait. Our bill was over R700 - This place will never see me again.

the food was impeccable and our waiter was very nice as well as helpful. we were satisfied with the service and the hospitality. I however think there can be some improvement made on the sushi specials, but other than that, there's a reason why "everybody loves John Dorys"...my favourite restaurant ;)

Worst night of my life. After waiting for an hour for our food we were noted there were no calamari. After waiting another hou we received our food as a takeaway because it was taking to long. Then when we got home we did not even have the right food. The staff verbally abused each other and more then 4 families left in the 2 and a half hours we where there. Never again. Poor service, poor food and poor hospitality.

Since John Dorys is under new management, the cleanliness, atmosphere and food quality is much better. My BF enjoys seefood and enjoys JD's now more than before. Keep up the great work guys.

Amazing sushi, fast service friendly people. Will recommend anytime��

Firtly, I waited for two and half hours for my sushi. Secondly, when I spoke to the manager, he was agressive, incompetent and out right disrespectful! Thirdly, our orders were wrong! This is by far the worst services I have ever encountered by management and will never recommend this John Dory's Potchefstroom to anyone!!!

Die swakste diens wat ek in my lewe in ‘n restaurant gehad het! In John Dorys in potch sal ek NOOIT weer kom nie! En as ek sien hoeveel mense rondom ons het opgestaan en uit geloop, was ons nie die enigste mense wat swak diens ervaar het nie!!!

Awesome Manageress, seriously awesome. As we are athletes on a strict pre competition diet, she when above and beyond to make sure the meal met our request/requirements in a warm and friendly manner. Great staff and really good food. The sushi and coffee are a must. When ever we are competing in Potch this is our eating establishment of choice. Thank you guys.

Wednesday night is sushi spesial night John Dorys so as a customer you would be prepared to wait a littel longer for you food but tonight 1. We waited two and a half hours for our food. 2. The order was wrong and above all 3. The manager was disrespectful and incompetant in addressing the issues. A lack of customer serves Firstly he disregarded our complaint of the waiting period by saying their just busy and that was it. Granted they were busy but the table that arrived an hour after us got their food when we received ours.(That doesn't make sense). 2. He suggested that the wrong order be corrected but it will take long so we will have to wait a little longer. 3. He left his waiter with alot of angry customers and did nothing to relief the dissatisfaction. On a positive note the waiting staff was friendly and well poised in customer serves.

I had an amazing time. The sushi came in half an hour even though it was 1/2 price sushi and John Dorys was packed �
