Review Baakens Bistro - Port Elizabeth

The decor was amazing as well as the views from the balcony. It was nice and quiet, the staff was friendly and attentive. Had the chai latte and a pulled pork sandwich, the sandwich wasn't my favourite, a little too sweet for me. If you're ordering desert I suggest the red velvet cheese cake. Everything was reasonably priced and overall a lovely experience and I wouldn't mind going back.

This is a quaint little bistro in the Baakens Valley that serves a range of traditional (burgers and pasta) to interesting (sweet French toast or smashed potato with bangers) meals. They also do standards like avoe toast, cakes (very tasty) and coffee. Keep an eye out for their specials (at present there is a pasta special on Wednesdays for example). Added bonus, they do not charge corkage. Recommended for breakfast lunch, dinner or in between. Great place.

Great place! The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere that conveys it's history and the history of the building. The staff are friendly and the owners came and checked on us at our table and to have a chat. The menu is nice and varied and the food is very good. Really recommend checking it out.

Visited this bistro twice whilst at the test match at St Georges. Although compact it has a relaxing friendly ambience and the decor is based on previous port heritage. . The food is delicious and there is a varied menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion size. The staff are friendly yet professional and are keen that you enjoy your meal. The apple pie which is more like an apple sponge is well recommended as are the chocolate cigars. The coffee is a perfect end to a wonderful meal. This place is a gem and l can understand why its busy.

Absolutely delicious all around. This is a must when you are visiting PE. The service is outstanding, friendly staff plus the chef sings and the owners work magic in the kitchen. The food was delicious and was great value for money. Highly recommended for any meal!

Baakens Bistro is incredibly popular. If you're planning on going at a busy time, it's best to make a reservation. I was at Baakens Bistro on a Friday night and it was packed! The food was fantastic (try the daily specials) and the servers were attentive. I would rate this restaurant 5 stars if it weren't so noisy in the evenings. Lunchtime is much better!
