Nice little place, good food friendly service. Nothing extravagant, but I like it that way. Cakes look amazing. Place is very bubbly, so don't expect a tranquil meal.

I have come here several times over the years. There is a reason I keep coming back. Great food. Friendly service. Lovely setting.

Very welcoming and good food, good value for money..

The food is good and well priced. I have had 3 different meals there and enjoyed them all. It needs to all end with a piece of cake though.

A Hidden Gem and a Lovely Neighbourhood Experience. Importantly the Cakes are Fresh and Moist and the Coffee Good. It even has 'BestFriendFriday' offer! #LovedIt

Fresh and delicious food, although it might take a while to receive your order.

You definitely need to try this place.... if you have time to read what my experience was So today i visited Love Cake Cafe. Been to the establishment a few times before and can concur that everything overall is consistent and well managed. From the time we walked in we were created with a smile and given options of where we would like to be seated. After a nano second someone came around to ensure that our drinks order has been taken and i asked that we be given a few minutes as we have not as yet decided, which was received unbelievably welcoming. I think the only thing that was slightly not a 5/5 was the condition of the menu's (and maybe not being wiped down before reaching me), which is completely understandable as they handle a lot abuse, firstly from customers and then also the staff when wiping them down. With that said i can confirm they definitely were not anything less than a 4/5. We had then placed our meal and drinks orders. I had a Red Latte with The Love Burger and opted for the Rustic chips to go with that. My mom had a Beacon and Cheese sandwich on Rye bread and selected a salad as a side to eat and a single shot Espresso. Drinks were delivered in a record time each served with a small heart shape fresh crumbly sweet biscuit. The honey my tea was served with seemed to have just been washed off, maybe because it was tacky, but never wiped dry and caused me to struggle while opening. Soon after the food arrived and at first glance was presented really well and literally made my mouth water and i could not wait to dive right in. And boy was i not disappointing.... Ingredients used were fresh, lettuce was crunchy. Carimalised onions had the required crunch in the centre of the onion to show it was not overcooked or made too long ago. Then there is the star of the burger, the patty. Meat was extremely fresh and at no point did i get a hint the patty was frozen. The patty throughout was juicy and wanting me to take another bite. The rustic chips were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the way it should be. My mom then offered me half of her sandwich and my thoughts on that... it was really good. The beacon was fried off separately to a point where it was almost crispy which gave the sandwich some extra body. I am not too sure how they prepare the sandwich but the outside was a little bit greasy which indicated to me that they use butter on the outside and there are non stick option available that would retain the crispiness on the outside to avoid that greasiness, but overall great. After getting my food i asked for Tabasco sauce and unfortunately the neck was not clean, but nothing terrible. The Manager/Owner had me a little worried and she visited the table next to me, a while later she went to the table opposite me and i got worried as she didn't seem like she was coming to me. I can however confirm that she made her way to our table to ensure everything was satisfactory and welcomed us, which is always a great personal touch. I even saw her assisting and serving/ taking things to table, which is always good to see. The staff are amazing and always kind, professional and generally happy, well groomed and always a pleasure to be served by them. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is inviting and clean with an amazing buzz coming from the happy visitors. If you have never been i would definitely recommend you try them.

Great food and 2 minutes from home. The only other place to hang out other than bossa in Burgundy. Very cute and my waitress is wonderful. Offer Wi-Fi and a great, quiet place to sit and work during the week. Recommend bird in a nest on the menu. Different and so tasty!

Love Cake is a charming coffee shop that serves great tasting food and excellent coffee at a reasonable price. The service is great and the decor local and relaxed. The cake can also be bought as takeaway portions, they host small events (baby showers etc) and they have a loyalty program as well. A large jungle gym positioned just outside is perfect for the kids.

These guys clearly do love cake. They do it really well and they serve large slices! Shame they don't also love comfortable furnishings. Not somewhere to go and chill for long. But a quick slice of cake and a coffee will not leave you disappointed.

Fresh, fabulous food. No rip-off prices. Willing to accommodate a minor change in your meal if they can. Very good service!

This is my favorite cafe. They have amaizing food and it's a peaceful place to relax. The service is prompt even when they're really busy. Value for money. This cafe is popular with the locals and they host large tea parties as well.

Have been here on a few occasions and food and service is great!!! Very friendly management and staff. Can't wait for our next visit. Keep it up.

Great Service - sadly dissappointed in the schnitzel portion size vs price. Way too much salad (presumed to fill the plate - wouldn't order the schnitzel if I wanted a salad.) Otherwise friendly service, good coffee and cake

Best chai latte I've ever had!! The food was yummy and the service fast and friendly :) I can never go to Checkers without a quick stop there.. highly recommended!

BEST Eggs Benedict in the world 🤤, vibe is cool, staff are incredibly friendly, and food is great! Not to mention they make a killer chai latte 😻
Service a bit slow but not terrible.

They offer a very well-rounded menu with really tasty and wholesome dishes for the whole family.
And their gorgeous, fresh cakes looked so enticing it almost tempted this Banter into trying a slice!
Very affordable for top notch foods, a really lovely atmosphere, and friendly service. The perfect breakfast spot for Burgundy Estate locals and their kiddies.
Plus they do absolutely perfect poached eggs - which is always a win in my book!
Well worth a visit.

Friendly staff, nice breakfast for the price (had the love breakfast R40, 2 eggs, bacon and toast) they have very well prepared coffee and hot drinks.
Kathryn
The breakfast (low carb breakfast) and the coffee were delicious. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. I will definitely be coming here again for another breakfast.
Monica Fernandes
There seems to be some mixed reviews about this place, however I have never had a horrible experience here. They have a lovely affordable menu with lots of options ranging from all day breakfast to burgers and many sweet treats. We ordered a Mexican mince quessadilla and a chicken, camembert and avo gourmet sandwich. Although there was a mix up with my order the food was delicious and worth the wait.
Frans Fourie
Amazing coffee and very friendly staff. Appropriately priced meals with special touches. Though we didn't try them, they sell giant cookies that look tasty. They also advertize a flapjack tower that I would go back for.
Nardo Van Eck
Such an amazing experience. Quaint little spot, excellent food and friendly service. Can highly recommend. Wide variety of breakfast and meal options with amazing coffee.
Liza
I’ve only ever had good experiences at Love Cake. The breakfasts are nice, and the cakes quite yummy.
I’ll definitely be going back to try more of their food.
Just wish they were open a little longer.

manager is arrogant, she was all over the place it wasn't even that busy but you could see her confusion, ordered a mini love breakfast owl for my daughter, came out the wrong way, she was busy chatting folding hands outside, bad vibe was not a good experience for my daughter. she came later but was already done and about to pay our bill.

so my friend told me about this beautiful hidden cafe that sells freshly baked cakes coffee and breakfast all day in burgundy estate and i decided to pay a visit, unfortunately they close at four and i finish work at half past three so l normally get there around 3;45 because its a 15 minutes drive, only to be told by the manager that they are closed, she never asked if i wanted a take away or sitting, well in this case l wanted a take away since they were closing but she rudely sent me away.. not too sure if she was the manager or owner but please be kind to customers

A hidden restaurant friendly beautiful waitresses, good food exellent service. I'm from the U.S.A but in south africa for a visit, staying in patterkloof with a friend so love cake is our breakfast spot, after trying their amazing eggs Benedict with bacon we could not stop!!! Unfortunately yesterday I noticed one of their waitresses very sick but working, my heart bleed one could tell she was in pain, what happened to workers rights, the manager was there who is no so friendly. I started coming to love cake last year in December and the previous manager was very good, I remember a mistake that was made in my bacon chilli popper burger, she quickly rectified. Yesterday I was at the cafe and I noticed again how very unprofessional the manager was, making a very sick waiter to work, every table I could hear people asking her if she was ok...

Was looking forward to visiting this cafe as we recently started renting in Burgundy. Unfriendly service, bad coffee and the worst lemon meringue.. for R35 each! The bill was R68 for a simple coffee, rooibos tea and small lemon meringue that was more crust than anything else. A pity since they have a nice menu

Went back today, a few days after my original visit. The manager was very friendly (thanks Melissa😊) and we had a nice chat. She recommended the breakfast options and the cappuccino so I decided to give Love Cake Cafe another go. I ordered the Pesto breakfast on rye toast. The rye was really good and I will most definitely have it again as a bread option. I don't think I'll have the pesto breakfast again as I noticed I'm not a fan of the mushroom & sundried tomato pesto combination, but that is personal preference. Everything was made well and the eggs poached perfectly! My mom had the toasted egg, bacon and cheese, although she asked for no cheese they still put some on but she enjoyed it as it was white cheese which she likes, so it worked out well:) she also ordered a red cappuccino and got a normal cappuccino instead, but it's a small mistake and was quickly rectified, no problem:)

The only comment we have upon 2nd visit is that the waitresses could perhaps be a bit more friendly as they struggle slightly with that, but the food is good👍🏻 I was also told that I would receive a voucher to try a breakfast option and can bring a friend.. in the end only my breakfast was on the house, but atleast they offered to rectify our first visit and I appreciate that. Given that our first visit was only for cake and this time around we had more, I guess it is justified and makes sense. More than I can say for any other coffee shop these days.
The reply from LoveCakeCafe is much appreciated❤️ will visit again 👍🏻

Worst food Myself and my mother have ever had, the chilli poppers can be squeezed to drain all the oil and they're empty so don't worry about losing any cheese and the burgers "meat" didn't taste or look like meat it was basically like eating a cardboard box, when sending all the food back only having taken a bite or 2 we were treated as if we were lying and still had to pay the almost R200 full bill. So disgusted and unhappy if there was a zero option for rating this place it would be below that!
Heinri Van Zyl
Quaint little place almost hidden from view at a small open air mall. Nice interior ambiance with a country home feel. Cappuccinos are good, if you enjoy slightly stronger cappuccinos. Had the breakfast stack, it was delicious. I would however have liked it to come with one more rasher of bacon, I had to eat the last sweetcorn cake without egg or bacon. Overall a very nice experience.

Come hungry. This place hidden in a shopping complex and been around for ages. I especially love the breakfast menu. The scones were great and service was really good
Glynis Claire
Super cozy atmosphere inside with beautiful cakes on display. Friendly and prompt staff. The waffles I had were slightly stale and a bit of a let down, it felt as though they were warmed from frozen.
Chef Samantha Katz
Warm and Friendly ambience... and golly gosh, the best breakfast spot I've found in the Northern Suburbs by far!!! Creamy scrambled eggs, fresh smoked salmon... on a crispy toasted farmhouse slice... heavenly. The decor is lively and feel good! The perfect little hidden gem to visit when you are feeling down and need a pick me up. Well done guys, you totally deserve your 5 stars x

Where do I even begin with this gem of a place! We discovered this little piece of heaven last year when we stayed in Cape Town for a week. And each time we fancy good food and amazing cake we always make a detour to Love Cake. You have to try their homemade burgers and best of all their red velvet cheesecake. I'm not a fan of cheesecake so this is the ideal type for me. Yummy moist sweet cake and the semi sweet cheesecake to balance it out. Devine!
Amy Mcwilliams
I love this place. It's a super querky spot, the decor is so tasteful and welcoming. All the baked cakes always look so fresh and the presentation of the drinks and food plating is impressive. We popped in for a quick cappucino I have had the breakfast before a little bit above average prices but worth it for the freshness and portion size. It's a nice close to home breakfast spot and fills up quickly. The only reason I don't rate it higher is because the staff are expressionless and a bit distant and because of its location in a small centre.
Courtney Stanbury
Lovely little breakfast place, the food is great and well priced. I love a good eggs Benedict and this is one of the best I've had. The space is beautiful, and very cosy. The service can be slow, and never quite sure if the bill is coming to me, or if I'm going to it. However you're not hovered over and can gake tour time to eat, have tea or chat. Their cake is great, so even of you have savoury food, I always get cake to go, to take home for a snack later on. Give it a go, wonderful weekend breakfast spot
Kim Knight
This is my favourite breakfast spot! Hidden gem in the middle of Burgundy Estate, their food is value for money and always high quality and their service is good. The eggs Benedict is a must try, and their Italian hot chocolate is amazing. Great selection of cakes on offer too. Definitely worth a visit.

I don't have a single complaint about Love Cake Coffee. Every dish I've tasted has been delicious, the drinks are great, and the staff are lovely. Whether you're stopping in for a slice of cake or lunch with a friend, this place is always a hit.
Erasmus Bart Sihin
Lovely decor, friendly staff and relaxed ambiance. Beautiful display of cakes and confectioneries and the coffee has just the right amount of bitterness. The creamy scrambled eggs in a toasted croissant was creamy and delicious whilst the love burger was sadly over cooked and tough. Love the fact that they serve breakfast all day, and judging from some of tables next to us the sweet treats are a hit here. Overall it was a lovely experience and I'll probably be back for a coffeeinacone and some cake. Bonus: kids play area outside.

We found this restaurant on the Entertainer whilst in the area. The chicken caesar salad and quesadilla was slightly disappointing. The salad was very small and not what we expected. The quesadillas were also not tasty and just lacked something. However, the coffees were delicious and the service was excellent. The owner/manager checked on us and apologized for our disappointment and offered a slice of cake. The other food that came.past us.looked lovely and we will definitely be back to try something new.

Service is slow. Menus handed to us when we sat down (only one other table at the time) but no waiter attended to us until we signalled one standing behind the counter whom tolled her eyes when we called.

I ordered the Peanut Banana Waffle. The waffle was cold and not fresh (too chewy) and the ice cream clearly covered the lack of banana that was included. Satisfied my sweet tooth nevertheless.

Hubby's burger was average and the chips was not hot.

Waited quite a while for the waiter to clear our plates and bring the bill. Still with only one other table I'm the restaurant.

This little place has a lot of potential. Just some work needed on the service and little things.
Neil Roland Smith
A nice little nook that serves a decent breakfast. I would upgrade the benches on the walls with padding to improve the look and feel, but overall a happy experience.
Jason Sander
We found Love Cake Café on Entertainer App with a pretty good menu and decided to take a drive out to try them. The coffee was good - You get a massive cup for R25, and the burgers were decent too. I had the grilled chicken burger with a very different pesto mayo sauce, my girlfriend took a beer and camembert burger. Their prices are affordable as well, and service isn't too bad - It could be a little faster though, but never the less, a cute little coffee shop with decent food. Definitely want to try them again!
JayRo
Really enjoyable breakfast and reasonably priced. I really like the menu as they have quite a different variety and definitely something for everyone. Good selection of cakes. Really good coffee!
Jenny Sarah Coulson
What a lovely spot for tea and treats with the girls. I had the hot chocolate (which was literally a cup of thick, molten chocolate that you eat with a spoon) and the low carb brekkie (not because I'm a Banter, but the mushrooms, poached egg and bacon was all I needed in life). Everything was delicious and the service was decent. A great spot to meet up with friends!
Shante H Hutton
Lovely coffee shop that does a fab chai latte.
Awesome cake selection too and good prices on an extensive menu.
Their hot chocolate selection is so yummy and rich.
Great for meet-ups

After reading some of the other reviews to confirm my experience, I can confidently say that the service is in need of a serious face lift. I think that there is some experience lacking in this quaint café. I enjoyed my french toast breakfast and my partner was left underwhelmed by the quesidillas. The Earl Grey tea was watered down as they drowned one tea bag in a pot big enough for three cups. As it stands I won't be back for breakfast again, but I might consider picking up a slice of cake.
Megan Bellinger
With very few places in this area of the Northern burbs, and because it was one the Entertainer, we stopped here for brekkie.
We sat outside which was a bit scarce, but the inside looked quite cosy!
The service wasn't very good initially, quite dismissive and felt like we were a hassle being there. It warmed up a bit though, a bit.
I ordered a flat white, but it was clearly a very milky latte. My bf had a straight americano - my verdict is its average coffee.
Now for for the food. I ordered eggs benni with mushrooms. The hollandaise was a bit lumpy, but it was very tasty! It also came on brown toast instead if the usual english muffin, but in a way i liked it because it made the portion larger :)
My bf had the big brekkie. He enjoyed it but said the mushrooms tasted a bit off and the toast not fresh.
It was an overall ok experience, I'd visit again to try out the lunch menu.
Melinda
We have religiously been going to this little cafe for the past 2 years and have never been so disappointed by the food.

I had a big breakfast with beef sausages and the sausages could have just been classified and droewors.

It definitely was not freshly cooked and the mushrooms were extremely soggy.

My bf had the open omelette with bacons bits and feta. Firstly the feta was barely visible, and the bacon bits were pieces of fat.

Not sure we will return as the service wasn't great either with 4 couples in the whole restaurant and a waiting time of 50 minutes for food and 20 minutes for our coffee...
Z
Its my Saturday morning ritual, to go have a coffee or a brekkie at Love Cake.
From the incredible Love Burgers, to their eggs Benedict, Love Cake has become a hit with my family and I - and we love spending our time there. The service is great, and the comfy feeling with its home style decor, gives you a relaxed and welcome atmosphere to enjoy your food. Service tends to be a little slow at times, but considering that its always busy - and its run by the waitrons I understand why. All in all a good experience to start your weekends off.

Had a lovely lunch here this afternoon. It is often so difficult to decide what to choose as they have such a great menu with too many tasty options. I usually go for a bacon and Camembert wrap, butternut salad, or burger, but today I chose a quesadilla.. It was yummy! The staff are friendly, the food is very tasty, and I simply love the way they've done up the little restaurant. It is so quaint, and my girlfriends and I love coming here for tea and cake. The cakes and delicacies are always fresh and delicious. Worth the visit.
Lynn Jooste
I really like going to this cute little spot. I always go for the sweetcorn fritters and yummy salads. I'm always keen to try the delicious looking cakes...but I've never been able to save room for dessert. Wifi not too great.
Simone
Love Cake cafe is a cute space but the service and food let them down when we visited. We waited nearly an hour for our breakfast. I tried the sweet corn fritter stack. The fritters were very stodgy and there was way too much vinegar in the egg poaching liquid and My entire meal tasted like vinegar. My husband had a standard breakfast that he says was ok. Service was ok but the waiting time put us off
Sheila Pinheiro Nainkin
One of the quaintest spots, hidden in burgundy is certainly one of the best breakfast and coffee places. It's not a place you run in and out of, food takes a little while but is worth every bite A great place to catch up with friends!
Belinda Bastiaanse
Very crap experience
Ordered breakfast and waited 40 minutes before it arrived.
Decaf coffee was shocking to say the least.
Sweetcorn fritters were dissapointing and not much trace of any sweetcorn, more like a flapjacks
Side plate had two huge chips.
And when we were done it was almost impossible to try and get the waitress' attention to try and pay.
Dylan Thomas
For a small spot in a random shopping center, the meal here was surprisingly good. Took my mom and had eggs Benedict and cappuccinos. The eggs were well made, bacon was a tad saltier than expected, cappuccino was suitably well made. It's not fine dining, but no real complaints. Staff were friendly and attentive, service was a bit slow, but ultimately I would go again for a lazy meal.
Johann Malherbe
This coffee shop is very well situated in burgundy estate and do offer outside and inside seating with a play area for kids, the food is affordable and well prepared the shop can do with minor detail corrections, the staff was friendly and service was good.
Nicole Vrede
Mixed reactions about this one...at the end of the day I would say it is perfect for your local tea and cake get together. I was not impressed by the food, although it is really affordable, so you get what you pay for.

Service is extremely extremely extremely slow on Saturdays. The restaurant was completely full though, they just need more staff. The manager was no where to be seen, not playing much of a role. Menus are looking a bit old...

I did enjoy the space, which is very pretty. It is just really small and they trying to cram as many tables in as possible, so turns out to not be such a relaxing time.

I think week day tea and cake vibe would be best for this restaurant. The photos attached are of a high tea another table was doing, that looked quite good.
Alicia Louw Venter
Hands down the best carrot cake south of the equator!!! Good quality coffee rounds out the treat not to mention the friendly service. I've going there for a while and the overall quality has not gone down since they opened. Their wraps and homemade pies are pretty good too. There is also a kids play area conveniently located right outside.
Louis Reyneke
One of our favourite breakfast spots. Great place, great staff. Excellent food with attention to detail. Owner is very attentive we suggested some kiddies menu items and they were promptly added!
Adi Van Breda
Amazing cake!! Only been here for their cake and coffee special on a Monday for R25! Really lovely little cafe with lovely decor! Service with a smile and very helpful :)
Richard Best
A cute little cake and coffee spot, with a play area outside for the kids.
The hot chocolate was good, as was the cake.

Despite the slightly inattentive staff, we will no doubt return to try something more substantial.
