Review Moksh - Plattekloof

Precious Miya
Very disappointed that people had the audacity to give this place less than 5/5 stars. Give them their darn flowers! I've never been physically, but I'll say from an avid takeout queen, their food has never disappointed. The portions are top tier, packaging ergonomical, flavors on point. A definite go to when I'm looking for a warm and hearty meal away from home. Love, love, love their work!

The restaurant was quiet as we went on a Sunday evening, however the owner/manager made it a most enjoyable evening. The food was absolutely fantastic and I won't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Salomon Joubert
We loved it. Delicious, authentic Indian food and a great atmosphere. Even if you don't like hot curry you can enjoy a meal here. All dishes can be prepared in mild, medium or hot. The staff are friendly and helpful
Robert
Fantastic food. Love it. 😍

Great Indian restaurant, very tasty meals. Still great went again last night, and the three of us had a really lovely meal.

Amazing place with food and flavours one of the best Indian restaurants I have been too. Friendly service and food was served at a decent time the wait from order too serve was about 20min but it was worth the wait. When you pop in and you like spicy order the Vindaloo and ask for extra spice it hits the spot and its a good flavour heat.

Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. Friendly service, we received our food so fast and felt so welcome. We’ll definitely be going back again!

Our team had lunch here and the hosts did everything they could to make it a good occasion.
Lucinda Viljoen
Massive portions and great value for money. Their Peshwari Naan bread is a must to try with their main dishes. We had a medium hot Lamb Saagwala and Chicken Madras which was out of this world.
Neil Niemand
Excellent authentic Indian food, great service!!
Hermias Engelbrecht
Food and service is always amazing. Waiters is helpful and accommodating. Take ur own wine, free corkage.

Been there a few times. Food is great - they never disappoint on my favourite dish - a lamb biryani. Waiters are friendly and attentive. Great ambience. Will keep going back for more.
Dirk Putter
Wow! What an amazing place. The food was delicious. Simply a 10 out of 10. The wine, absolutely flawless. And the Wait staff truly made me and my sister feel like royalty. I recommend them to anyone wanting a great indian food experience.

If you're an Indian cuisine lover, Moksh is the place to go. Tasty, smooth and flavourful.

Superb food, nice view, knowledgeable staff, and good atmosphere. Butter chicken medium is excellent and highly recommended.

Food was great. Staff were very attentive to orders and other requests. Great hospitality 👍

Best indian food in cape town....this is a must visit. Friendly efficient and hands on owners. Loved loved loved this place. And oh how delicious is their food. Brilliant

We ordered from MrD and were severely disappointed with Moksh! The portion sizes are really poor value for money. From the price we paid — over R500 for 2 dishes (no drinks), we were expecting hearty dishes, but were completely let down. It felt like daylight robbery! We will definitely not be eating from Moksh again!

We loved our visit to Moksh Plattekloof.
We ordered the paneer makhani, chicken Karzai, lamb dopyaaza, prawn curry and the Bombay potatoes. All the food was fantastic, Mark and Shirley were great host's and looked after all our needs. We will definitely return.

We have visited a few of the branches but the Moksh in Welgelegen will be our favorite!
Most delicious food topped with staff that always make us feel welcome and deliver great service!
Minimal waiting time and the food is always nice, hot and tastes great!
Thank you, we will return soon😉

The service here is quite average. Can wait quite a bit sometimes for someone to come assist you at the table. The restaurant is quite small and dimly lit and not much of an atmosphere. The food is amazing though. Their tikka chicken curry is the best I've had. Their mixed starter platter is also great. The chicken on there is good but the kebabs were a bit dry and overcooked.

Edit: I have changed the rating to 1 star as I came here for my birthday with family and friends. Part of my table arrived and sat without anyone coming to offer them drinks. After I arrived it was 20mins before I had to get up and ask for someone to come serve us. Then after they brought us drinks we sat for 30mins again before having to get up again and ask for someone to come take our meal order. Absolutely terrible service.

This restaurant is hidden away in the suburbs with an unassuming entrance but wirht a visit. Authentic Indian cuisine, packed full of flavour. Polite and attentive service.

Was such a nice and quick experience here. The staff is so welcoming. Food arrived super quickly and tasty. I had lamb korma with naan bread and rice which was delicious and took some home as it was a lot of food. Parking always available there, to me it’s important:)

Tasty, well prepared and portions that look too small but surprises you when you realise you can't finish it!! A bit pricey, but the flavours and friendly service makes it worthwhile! Will definitely be going back. Had the Dal Ghosh with garlic naan and was very pleased!
Jenny Daniels
I came to this place with the entertainer but even after the entertainer I would definitely come here often. The curry is good. Definitely worth the money. And also friendly staff.
Shubha Bhat
Negatives: their mango lassi looks & tastes exactly like mango yoghurt. We ordered two dishes ( paneer & mix veg) & both were low in salt. There is nothing unique about this restuarent & there are much better Indian restuarents out there.
Positives: friendly staff members, romantic ambience.
Claire Ebersohn
Food great!..Really good curry. Always do take-aways HOWEVER had very disappointing experience.. arrived at venue waited about 15min before being helped as the family who runs restaurant was busy eating even though they saw us waiting and upon asking for wine glasses from bar.. got a very irritated response as we were interrupting them. Venue was also not very clean. Very sad as Durbanville branch is excellent

Small and intimate setting. Hidden gem tucked away. You can bring your own wine without corkage as they don’t sell on alcohol on premises!

Service is surprisingly quick. We ate on a Mid-week day and it was packed. So booking is essential. Owners make you feel comfortable and are informative.

Prices are affordable and they are on The Entertainer.

Food was so so yummy. I tried a Mango Lassi which reminds me of a thick mango smoothie (highly recommend). We ate the Butter Chicken and the Lamb Rogan Josh curry. All currys come with rice. Definitely order the Garlic naan bread too!
Louis Botha
The chicken korma was very tasty and would recommend it. Prices are a little above average.

I placed a take-away order, but the restaurant seemed full and very busy. So there maybe a time to wait when sitting down.

Been here many times. Never had a bad meal and once again not disappointed. I had the Rogan Josh and my wife the Dal Ghosh with naan breads...brilliant. Our go to curry place

Best curry in 12 years in SA. Chicken methi and chick tikka masala were superb as were the perfect onion bhajis to start. Already got withdrawal symptoms.
Kelly Russell
Thank you thank you thank you for opening in Kenilworth! Had my curry fix today from your new branch and our food was absolutely delicious! Will definately come back soon for more!

Before my 1st visit to Moksh, I phoned to confirm they were open for dinner and was quite surprised when a heavily accented voice recommended reserving a table in advance - which I promptly did. The unassuming venue certainly didn't give anything away of the magic that happens in their kitchen! Oh my word - it is some of thé best Indian curry I have had anywhere in SA.
I honestly don't think you can go wrong with anything on the extensive menu, though the waiters are quick to offer some guidance if needed. All orders are served with rice, but whatever you decide, make sure to get some of the naan bread options available - good enough to be a meal on their own!! The only downside was not knowing that they don't have a liquor license, although diners are welcome to bring their own wine (no corkage) - so next time we will be better prepared. I am absolutely THRILLED about finding Mohsh and look forward to becoming a platinum voyager mile customer. Oh, and definitely make a reservation - loyalists and curray addicts were queuing out the door to be seated!
Michelle Bestbier
Food is amazing!!! and very friendly staff! Literally the best curry that I've had in while and the staff are great with recommending certain dishes according to your taste.
Daniel Potgieter
Ordered takeaways on the phone for pick-up. Communication was good, price was definitely fair for the generous portion and it tasted amazing. I had some or other lekker chicken dish with rice.
Look forward to going back!

Had a crave for some Indian Curry. Got in my car and decided to search for an Indian Restaurant in the
Area and landed here ..

Reception was as friendly as can expected to be. Decor not great. Menu seemed reasonable. Ordered lamb vindaloo ... Comes with Basmati Rice. Ordered some naan bread.

The meat was soft .. no bones and the portion is a reasonable size.

Lamb Vidaloo + 1 plain Naan + 1 Coke = R150.

Recommended!!

We go there often and tried a few of their dishes it never disappoints the flavours are devine, friendly helpful staff the restaurant is very comfy one of our go to places for take aways
Ryan Oberholzer
What can I say. The food here is just delicious, the staff are friendly and the environment is pleasant. One of the curries was a bit too hot for my partner, and they made milder. On top of that they catered for her veganism! Great night!

First visit - Exceeded expectations. Great food, great service. Bonus being allowed own wine and no corkage. We will be back. Highly recommended.

If there is something to be said about any Moksh... they know how to make a curry. I have been to 3 outlets and each time I wish for seconds😆 I had the chickpea curry based in a amazing sauce and extra hot ofcourse. The garli naan.... omw! Best ever.

What a delightful experience!! We went for supper and had a fantastic evening, thanks to the friendly waiters and DELICIOUS meals!! We ordered the Lamb Kastoori, Chicken & Lamb Madras. We could choose how spicy we like our curry and it was spot on! The manager made suggestions to our orders, which I thought was very thoughtful of him. We also ordered chicken samoosas as a starter. The 4 samoosas were a generous size and came with a tasteful dipping sauce. The Naan is a definite must when ordering your main meal! The food looked and tasted SO GOOD,that I forgot to take photos of the starter =)
Keenan
The food was insane! I can't say more. By far the best curry I've had in any restaurant. This is definitely a hidden gem. Can't wait to come back again.

As you enter its very warm and cosy inside, we were seated inside the private room which I presume is used for private functions but we preferred it inside as tonight was very busy. I had the mild lamb rogan josh and others had butter chicken and chicken korma..all meals come with rice so we ordered poopadoms and butter naan with it which was divine! All our meals were excellent and full of flavour! prices are reasonable compared to other Indian restaurants. The service was friendly and the manager was very informative and always made sure we were okay. Lovely staff which made it a pleasant experience. Definetly will be back.

Tried Moksh for the first time this week. The food and service was so good that my friend actually shook the waiters hand when we left. You won't be disappointed.

Flavoursome authentic Indian food on our doorstep.

Four of us went for supper and had chicken & mince samoosas (4 piece), Paneer Pakora (Indian cottage cheese deep fried with spice butter) & Peshwari Naan for starters.
For mains we had Prawn Curry (Tiger prawns in a tomatobase sauce with a touch of curry leaves & mustard seeds) , Lamb Dopyaaza (Lamb served with onion, chilli and spices in thick gravy) , Chicken Tikka Masala (Tender chicken cubes cooked in tandoor oven and turned into tikka masala sauce) & Chicken Methi Malai (Chicken cooked with herbs, fenugreek leaves and glazed with cream) finished of with dom pedro's.
They do not have a liquor license so you can bring your own at no charge. Bill came to R900 for 4 people including tip.
Service is very good and very knowledgeable staff. Will definitely go back again.

I decided to visit Moksh today because I was craving authentic Indian food (but too lazy to make myself!) and I had good experiences at the Moksh branch in Paarl when I was staying there for a while.

On arrival, we were not served poppadoms like at the other Moksh branches... but that could have just been an oversight on their part.

The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with the most stunning paintings adorning the walls and soft music playing in the background.

I pre-ordered our meals telephonically so we were served promptly on arrival. I ordered the chicken biryani medium (R115), as well as the chicken tikka masala medium (R110).

The biryani is served with raita and the chicken tikka masala comes with rice.
The portions are large and 3 adults could easily share the two meals we ordered. The food was exceptionally tasty and bursting with flavour, and really felt like "home food." Ordering the meals "medium" was just right for my palette - the owner warned us that "hot" is really hot!

This is a great place to get some authentic Indian cuisine, and the owner/manager was really friendly when helping me decide which curry to order. Their menu is extensive and I will definitely be back to try out some of their other curries soon.

Absolutely Fabulous Duo
Absolutely lovely place!! Wonderful authentic flavors and wonderful service! Recommended for everyone while loves Indian food. Naan bread is perfectly done

Good little restaurant, Tricky to find however. friend staff, although sometimes hard to get their attention.

Booking is essential.
Not great variety in drink and stock was low on one's they had.

Had the Lamb Kastoori on waiter's recommendation for something more spicy, thoroughly enjoyed it. However the garlic naan was a bit disappointing and portion was small.

Overall good experience.

My wife and I were in the mood for some traditional Indian cuisine and decided to satisfy our craving by trying some place new. We saw the restaurant was close by so Decided to give it a try. Sadly we're very very disappointed. The meals we had didn't have any of the rich flavours and textures we have come to enjoy by eating Indian cuisine. The lamb we had tasted like it had been cooked from frozen and the sauces were runny instead of being creamy and hearty. Sadly we will not be visiting this restaurant again.

Visited Moksh, Welgelegen last Friday night. The restaurant was full, we were happy to wait 15 minutes for a seat.
Once seated, the restaurant was a little light on atmosphere. Missed some Indian music to add to the motif.
The non-vegetarian platter was a great choice to start, even though the samosas were sold out that evening.
We had a butter Chicken and Bhuna Ghosh.
The butter chicken was creamy, tender and bursting with flavour. We ordered it mild, our mistake, could have done with a bit more heat.
The Bhunda Ghosh was also delicious- easily in the top 3 Indian dishes I've had.
Can highly recommend a visit.
Small word of warning- there is an under supply of parking, so be prepared to park on adjacent properties.

First time coming here on a whim
Amazing welcome
Someone always ready to help
And great food recommendations by the waiters
Definitely found a gem!!!!
Curry is amazing

The food is worth the wait. I cant fault anything I ate, and I tried 3 dishes!
Still no liquor license, but you are allowed to bring your own.
I recommend ordering the garlic naan along with your main.

We went for dinner. You have to make a reservation as their is limited seating indoors. Staff were friendly and the service was good. They hadn't got their liquor license yet but they allowed us to buy some from the Spar downstairs and drink it at the restaurant without a fee (which I thought was nice). We ordered the platter for 4 and a platter for 2 as a starter for 7 of us- the samosas were good and the malai tikka, the seekh kabab was dry and the chicken tikka lacked slightly in flavor, maybe be needed to be charred a little more in the tandoor. Having said that it was still cleaned out.
For mains we ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, kadai paneer, lamb lababdar and the lamb rogan josh with garlic and butter naans. Everything was ordered at medium spice. The food was good especially the butter chicken and lamb lababdar with the garlic naans.
We also had the masala chai-it was sweetened already with sugar so ask for without sugar if you don't like it sweet.
I was super thrilled to hear great reviews about the place from friends but it did not satisfy me completely, especially since I was comparing the food to the Indian food we ate 4 days ago. It was a bit of a drive for us as well so unfortunately we won't be returning.
Quiet Sunday afternoon with great service and amazing food. Waiter was really friendly and welcoming. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Korma was creamy and delicious, generous portions served with rice. Add in Peshwari Naan for the perfect meal. Real value for money. So happy we discovered an Indian Place close to home, thanks to the Entertainer.

This is an updated review. From an initially bad experience with a booking the owner contacted me and made the corrections. The best way to describe moksh is "thank you entertainer, it's the best curry I have ever had"
Wandi
Best Indian in CT! The flavors are so authentic and the service is superb! We will most definitely be back! Take your own wine as they are waiting for their liquor license.

Moksh taught me the difference between quality Indian food and South African “kerri.” I had the mild butternut chicken with basmati rice, garlic naan and topped it off with masala chai tea. The food is divine so worth waiting for, expect a bit of a delay in the service as they are currently short staffed.
Joelene Brown
Butter chicken done in such a great way. Naan bread was fresh and service was great. What a gem. All that shorts is the lunch time Roti wraps available in Worcester.

Moksh has a wonderful selection of curries, and to me, probably the best naans you are going to get in Cape Town.
I love that they don't just rely on chillies for flavour, there is a ton of depth to all there dishes as well.
And as Indian restaurants go, the decor is by far one of the most tasteful and clean I've been to
JayRo
Really great food!!!! Authentic, delicious, fantastically more-ish. Decor is that of no frills, no fuss but the food makes up for it. They are still waiting for thier liquor license, but to be honest that works out fine as you can take your own wine along for no additional corkage. All the curry dishes are served with rice. The waiters have good knowledge of the menu and can recommend dishes as per you liking.

Loooooove this place! Just a shame that they did not have a liquor licence, but Yo Eastern fusion was more than willing to provide us with liquor whilst dining their. The food was incredible and not a lot of curry places can hit my spice mark and they did it with ease - see you again soon!!
Elzalee De Beer
Went there for dinner with a friend, neat restaurant, nothing fancy, but good food! The service was very good and all the staff extremely friendly. Will definitely return for more!

A new branch just recently opened. A big room very cold and unimaginatively arranged but the food is good, tasty and value for money.
Unfortunately the restaurant is very stuck away and even the signage is hidden. They will need to market and expose themselves more effectively.
As they are situated upstairs and their are no lifts it can limit clientelle.
They need to find the x factor to up their game.
A glass of coke from a 2 liter bottle is not my best.
If they smooth the edges they can succeed.
