Review Little Magia Mozambique Restaurant - Pietermaritzburg

A lovely little restaurant well run and great food especially the fish.

Pleasant family oriented restaurant with efficient service. Food is largely authentic though decor is more upmarket with large mirrors, lots of light fixtures etc which would confuse patrons seeking a more African feel. Service is friendly and efficient without being invasive; allowing for relaxed dining. Pricing slightly high. Good for both intimate and family visits.

Cozy spot and the food is always so good

Their food is amazing... Tastes good and is served in big portions... I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 just because it takes abit long for the food to be prepared, waited about 50 minutes for our meal to arrive..

Awesome food, good service and a lovely atmosphere. It's just a pitty that it's not licenced to sell booz. Fortunately there is a bottle store right next door, and they allow you to bring your own. Just wish they had proper R&R's

We went to Little Magia's for a family lunch on a rainy day and it was the perfect spot for us! The food was divine and the service was outstanding. We had friendly and fun hosts, a pleasant warm family environment and fantastic food. I had some sushi and a platter which was fresh and perfectly prepared, my aunt had the house chicken which has a unique and delightful beer cream sauce and everyone else had one of the seafood which options which of ofcourse where on point! What a special place!!

7 of us attended. The chicken was really enjoyable, the layout with a centre plate of accompaniments was different and very well received by us. The service was on the slack side. Remember to bring your own alcoholic drinks.

Hidden away between the Midlands mall and the cascades area this is a gem of a spot. I nice authentic feel to place combined with delicious food. I definitely recommend taking your friends and family out to impress at spot that not many people know about

Apart from the restaurant not having halloumi or spinach parcels they also served sour cream irish coffee when I told the manager she kindly offered us samosas very amused. However the chicken and prawns where fantastic

Great service and good food. Tender steak, tasty chicken, but the lemon curd cheese cake was disappointing. Don't forget to BYO as this restaurant is not licensed. BUT, there is a bottle store right next door if you are there at lunch time.

Place is not five star setting but food is delicious and prepared to order, so does take some time, however it is worth the wait. Good service. Warm and cozy atmosphere

I visit the Little Magia at least 2 to 3 times a week, and have done so for the last 2 1/2 years. I am treated like family, the food is excellent, and such great value for your money. Every time you are greeted at the door by either Queenie, Dumsane or Lovemore. And welcomed like long lost friend. This is the best example of Mozambique Portuguese food in Pietermaritzburg long may it continue.

One of the best seafood restaurants in the Greater midlands area. Nice family atmosphere with great attention to kids. The Maputo starter is a must as well as one of the chicken and calamari combo’s.

Fantastic food...No doubt bout dat... Would ve nice though if the venue was made a lil more proportionate to their food and a few more waitrons but also be add to the quality of service. But on the whole the food was great.

Pricey menu for Bland seafood and Poor presentation. Complimentary rolls are hard as rocks, butter was stored in a freezer and came to the table just as hard. Had to use the candle to heat a knife up to be able to cut through the butter. On the up side the staff where very friendly and the environment was great. This is my experience at the Connor road restaurant.

Everything about this experience was amazing, we were greeted by friendly waitrons, the food was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly, succulent and flavourful! I will definitely be coming back again. I really enjoyed my evening at this cozy place.

Truly disapointing experience The food is great and this is where my husband thought of celebrating his birthday tonight. The staff are always so friendly and accommodating but I could not say the same for the rude and arrogant owner. My little girls are super energetic and are JUST KIDS!!! The restaurant was empty and we enjoyed the space. A couple sat across us and smiled at my girls every now and then and even waved..My kids are loud, They laughed and expressed their happiness celebrating their dad's birthday until the owner came up to us and said my kids "need to keep quiet as this is a restaurant and it is not up to their standard"...it's a week day and no one but a couple sitting far across from us was at the restaurant?? They are aged 3 and 5..I should've been advised that this restaurant does not accommodate toddlers. The staff seemed embarrassed and were very apologetic on behalf of the "old man"(This is what they referred to him as),but the evening had already been spoilt by the owners behaviour. He is intolerant of kids!!!certainly will not go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!!!

My husband had the fried Calamari starter, and I had the Mussel starter with an amazing garlic and lemon sauce. We then both had 12 Queen Prawns that we could see and taste were fresh, with a beer sauce. WOW! WOW! WOW! A fantastic meal and well worth drive from Pmb to Howick. Thank you so much!

All around excellent experience! Our waiter, Phumlani, was absolutely brilliant! Attentive at the right time and a good sense of humour! That is how my dad normally puts a waiter “to the test” and he was fantastic, such a great attitude! Divine food, prawns were tasty and perfectly cooked, the steak was so succulent and the portions were big! If it wasn’t so tasty we would have taken leftovers! And a super atmosphere, relaxed and enjoyable vibe! THANK YOU all for this wonderful evening!

5 star cuisine, waiters and service...only thing I can fault is the background music which can be improved to Mozambique theme or something diversely modern & neutral.
