Review La Vita'e Restaurant - Pietermaritzburg

The service was absolutely amazing. I would go back for the service alone. We were seen to from the moment we entered. Our waitron was extremely polite and friendly and well informed. The complimentary focaccia bread certainly did help us get in a better mood. But the mains were the highlight. I had the spinach and feta panzerotti with a creamy sauce. And it was so amazing. I couldn't help but smile while eating. We didn't have any drinks so I don't know if they are any good. But I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I can't wait to go back.

Fantastic service, amazing food and wine and great atmosphere. If you want to eat something that you can't get anywhere else, that is fine dining, but without the costs of fine dining, this is the restaurant.

The BEST restaurant in Pietermaritzburg. Upmarket. Chef owner operated ensuring maximum, clean and balanced flavours. Italian menu with fantastic grills, pizzas, pasta, seafood and sides. Great to celebrate special occasions.

Always enjoy the food there. I love that there is a complementary focaccia if eating. I have the calamari that’s super tasty and the pasta there is also amazing. Friendly staff and unique chef specials. My parents go there all the time and I would definitely recommend.

My husband and I frequent La Vita e very regularly and highly recommend them! The food is exceptional! I really enjoy trying out the ever changing flavour combinations and the wine paring. It is so clear that a lot of time and thought is put into every dish. The service is outstanding. My favourite restaurant in PMB!

The food is very well prepared. It does take a little while so be ready to unwind. They have a very good selection of wine. The taste of the padella sauce is sublime. The food overall gets my taste buds wagging. The restaurant loses one star only because of location. Prefer to look at mountains or trees in Pietermaritzburg instead of a car park but that cannot be helped.

Great service from friendly, waitress. Great culinary experience with interesting combinations on the menu. It's sad that the restaurant was almost empty when we where there... People in Pietermaritzburg should really support local businesses more. Wonderfull little Gem of a restaurant, for sure...

Such a pity that the lobster and prawn starter is NEVER available. Almost false advertising because it's touted on several websites as a signature dish. Otherwise the range of starters is very good, as are the specials and and main courses, with the exception of the wildebeest roulade which was so tough as to be inedible. However the day was saved when it was quickly swapped out for a fantastic steak. Good service from attentive waiter. Coffee not great. Just beware when you book that they don't place you right by the kitchen door or directly under the noisy speakers. We asked to be moved and were given a cosy table tucked away behind the bar

A romantic, cozy atmosphere, super friendly staff (I have chatted to the owner twice, he just popped to our table to introduce himself - made us feel very welcome!), and most of all - BEST PIZZA IN PMB. Without a shadow of a doubt.

My daughter invited me to have supper at La Vita as she had had an enjoyable work outing there. Very pleasant surprise. Excellent staff and excellent food. Not your run of the mill stuff but very well prepared and presented. Bellysimo (?) for strters Pork belly in Phyllo pastry and Aztec Mushrooms were our starters. Calmped- seafood and clams and calamari for mains. Long list of possible specials. Unobtrusive but super efficient staff very attentive. The food presentation and taste compare with any of the big city name restaurants. If you are looking for a special evening out and want to be pleasantly surprised give this one a try,. Not often you leave a restaurant thinking " now that was really good" and dont have anything you think could have been better. Definitely a hidden gem!

Excellent service, good tasty food with a wide selection of dishes. A bit pricey but worth it for the service and quality of food. Weird that all the waiters are white, restaurant needs an AA policy!
