Love this little gem. If you like a farmhouse feel with good food, this is for you. Little knee blankets for the colder days (small details matter). Vegan and gluten free options available. Make a reservation.... π
Ventured out to Philadelphia this morning with darkening skies and thunderstorms brewing. Beautiful atmospheric short drive into the countryside to the Pepper Tree. Rustic restaurant set in a beautiful street dotted with interesting esoteric shops (the gem shop was indeed a gem!). We had scones with delicious mixed Berry jam and cheese. The scones were fresh, light and like no other we had eaten before. The coffee was to quote Jan Spies, ryk en lekkerrr. There's a wee shop inside selling various farm stall type standards to suit everyone including eggs. The staff were all friendly and attentive. C'est SI bon!
Such a blissfull restaurant if you need a break from the busy life! The birdfeeders attracts all kinds of birds and the water fountain creates a wonderful atmosphere!
This is my Tuesday Treat to myself!
Incredible day out for the family. Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, especially when you sit next to the fountain. The bird life is just something special too. Service was a little slow today, had to call someone, but usually the service is really fast, so think it was just a busy day. We've been to Pepper Tree a number of times and are never disappointed. :)
Super chilled, fantastic cheesecake, awesome milkshake.
Quaint.
Pleasant relaxing drive there.
Friendly staff that remember you once you become a regular which is lovely and endearing.
Can sincerely recommend going even of just for a coffee.
Beautiful outdoor eating space with a variety of chirping birds, delicious food, a number of vegetarian options and a shop to browse in. A perfectly quaint town with a surprisingly good menu.
*** Dec '23 π visit and STILL impressed with the overall quality and service provided. I had the Chef's Burger and could not finish it, sizeable portion!!
The restaurant and deli were a total surprise to me after many years of neglecting the restaurant due to lackluster offerings many years ago. Now some of the best coffee I've had in ages, on par with some of the best in Cape Town. Had the farmhouse breakfast and it was insanely good. The apple crumble and the pancake was delicious too. Bought fresh veggies afterwards and fresh bread. Definitely coming back.
Swung by a few weeks ago. Was even allowed to park my motorcycle near entrance. Another star for this alone!! Chose Kudu burger which was way more than expected... incredible!! Would be great if could stock some Black Labels though. Will definitely make a turn with my daughter soon.
This is an absolute favourite of ours. The little 'dorpie' of Philadelphia is a complete change away from the city & precincts, it's a real breath of fresh country air. Then we arrive at Pepper Tree where you are met with true country welcome, seated in the rustic garden, with rural delicious food. No silver service, no pretentious attitudes, just friendly accommodation. So worth the drive to rejuvenate the soul.
I'm a regular at The Pepper π³ Tree. I love it. There's always something to suit your dietary needs. There's gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options. They serve a breakfast menu before 12 and a lunch menu . Food is always beautifully presented and freshly made so there is a little waiting time. While you wait for your food, the π¦ birds entertain you with their beauty as they feed on the numerous feeders amongst the branches of the huge ancient tree. It's also worthwhile popping into the shop for organic fruits and veg, Tahini, olive oils raw honey healthy sweet treats and nautoropathic remedies
What an awesome meal. My springbok shank was perfectly cooked. The waiter was fantastic and well informed about the menu. Because it was cold, we have had blankets. What an amazing lunch. Highly recommended
Gorgeous restaurant under the pepper tree. Fast and welcoming service with a limited but delicious menu. A special place in this small town and well worth the trip! There is also a small farm stall on the property which some delicious options to take home with you.
Great breakfasts really nice setting with the little birds chirping and the fountain in the middle
We regularly have Apple Crumble here with cream and delicious coffee and Chai Latte.
Thanks Trudy for always welcoming us and being friendly and helpful.
Lovely restuarant, relaxed atmosphere with the sounds of the fountain. Amazing meals. Never had a bad meal and have been to this restuarant many times over the years. Highly recommended. π
The drinks menu has quality and varied choices - from delicious coffees and teas to local and craft beers and vino. Food wise the portions are generous and great value for money. Recommend the burgers, chicken salad or bobotie. Clean, quality food and sides. Inside the shop there are amazing art pieces, Coffees and home made condiments. The service is local and the staff are skilled and friendly. Book in advance for the best spots.
